"...caused by the flooding of the mind with stress and attempts to block strss out of the mind. Children have similar reactions to adults, but they may hve more difficulty expressing feelings in words." The problem with being a child in an adult's body, is that no one tells you how to deal with this kind of grief anymore. (Caelus, the acute stress reaction, and the monster at the end of this story)

And you'll fall into the static as if you'd misconstructed it. The same ten prisoners, the same MILGRAM three trial system. It's just a bit odd when none of these prisoners are from the same world. Not a single one.

By the time this is finally over, the only remamant of the pain would be the Primordial Sea that had clung to Aether's fingers - but even then, that will return to the sea that which it should have over a few thousand years ago. ("Perhaps it's time to return to a normal life" - although this isn't directed at the person you think it is.)

Welcome to the Nation of Justice, Aether of the Stars. The truth here is too buried for you to dig up with your hands this time. (You'll see why, by the end.)

If you were to replace the boards of a ship one by one, over a millenia, would it still be the same ship? If Aether walks into Sumeru and comes out changed, who is he now? (To be loved is to be changed.)

When this night passes, Diona will look at the Alchemist’s twin right in the eyes and tells him that he’s helping her destroy the wine industry and he doesn’t get to say no.
(For which Diona and Diluc chance upon an interesting secret of the Chief Alchemist, Albedo, one fateful night.)
Written for the @exanimozine.

Three unfinished stories of bowerbirds, brood parasites, birds of paradise and the one architect that they surround.
(Three tales of Kaveh, Light of Kshahrewar, and the ways he could have turned out - for the better, or for the worst.)

on rei, kazuki, and having to let their daughter go - a retrospective on episode 10.
insp.
YOU EVENTUALLY HAVE TO LET HER GO:
A.  YOU COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING A MILE AWAY:
a.  it is a miracle the dream lasted as long as it did. one year with her was something out of a fairy-tale.
b.  she was there to tie the two of you together
                       i.   she is not there. You need to stop looking in her favourite places to hide in hide and seek.
B.  THERE IS AN EMPTY HIGH CHAIR:
a.  she was so small.
b.  she couldn't reach the kitchen counter without your help.
c.  she had to climb the side of the bathtub to reach you.
d.  you have to get rid of the high chair eventually.
                       i.   so why is it still there, sitting at the table?
1.  why is letting go so hard?
C.  THERE IS TOO MUCH FOOD:
a.  you do not need to feed an extra mouth.
                       i.   this bento will go cold.
b.  you do not need to buy as much food.
                       i.   you will never make french toast again.
c.  there are chopsticks in the drawer, too small for either of your hands.
                       i.   still in the packaging, still unused.
D.  THIS CHILD'S ROOM IS EMPTY:
a.  but to remove it is to acknowledge that you let her go.
b.  would she ask? "where is papa kazuki and papa rei? when can i go back to them?"
                       i.   what answers will misaki give?
c.  this bed is so small.
                       i.   why keep changing the sheets? dusting the shelves?
1.  this grief is new.
a.  it's really not.
E.  YOU EVENTUALLY HAD TO LET HER GO:
a.  the danger was too great.
b.  she deserved better than two men who had killed her father and stole her away from the scene.
                       i.   it does not make the dream less bittersweet when you wake up.
1.  you wake up with the taste of bitter melons and too sweet chocolate cereal on the back of your mouth.
c.  how much love was there left to give?
                       i.   too much.
                      ii.   there's no going back.
1.  it is time to make things right.
