Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

okay hey wait art suggestion time. stop locking yourself in to an art style. especially if you're anyone whos still in/under highschool. but even then stop fucking doing that.

theres nothing wrong with having a preferred style to draw in (clearly as a guy writing a multi book comic i know. trust that i know) but if you catch yourself thinking 'i cant draw that its not my style' or 'i want to learn to draw like that but its not my style' you gotta knock that shit off

you are not a brand. you are not a company. you are a person learning a skill and how the hell do you know what 'your style' is without trying to learn to draw in different ones? please do style studies. please try drawing realism even if it looks like shit at first. try doing abstract works. you dont have to like them but im begging you at least to try, because the things you learn carry over into your main body of work. and youll see yourself grow in ways you didnt think you could 'in your style'.

Nothing would bring me more pleasure.

The colors we see are perceived only in relation to the colors around them. No object possesses a color. But neither does light posses an absolute color. Our experience of the same frequency of light can be different depending on context.

So there is no absolute red. There is only red as it exists in our experience. It won't do just to learn color harmonies or good values (good stuff, but not the end).

Color theory means getting rid of the idea that there's a real color "out there". Color is inside us. Color in your field of vision is a unique experience generated moment by moment for you by the power of your bodymind. When you depict color as you see it, you're documenting a unique phenomenon of your consciousness.

What we color our artwork is not separate from the physics of light & the biomechanics of your audience's eyes. And the better we learn the behavior of light itself, the more power we have to communicate with one of the most awe inspiring experiences that unites humans: color.

Listen to me. Men are boxes and women are circles is made up. Those how to draw anime books are made up. 99% of all style guides are made up. But color theory is very very real.
