Since Alpha Trion has the Covenant of Primus, he likely already knew about Smokescreen's true nature. Both as a Decepticon and as a genuinely good/caring bot worthy of being a Prime. He probably left a message within the Star Saber saying "no matter what is revealed about Smokescreen, he's on your side. Don't worry." OP was all "wait, what." And then was like "ah."
There was this one AU I made, where Smokescreen used to be a Decepticon spy (this was based on a really old crack theory when he was first revealed in the show) but when he was in the Archives, he started learning more about Cybertron as a whole and has a realization that "hey, maybe the Autobots have a Pointā„¢ and I don't know which side of this war I really want to be on" but he knows he already dug his grave and couldn't get out of it. That was until he crashed landed on Earth and no one knew who he was. He could actually be on the side he truly believed in, and help win the war. Now, he just has to hope no one on the Decepticon side will recognize him. (Plot twist: someone does)
OOOOOOOO YESSSSSSS
I hope you donā€™t mind if I add onto this because my brain grabbed it in a choke hold and went ZOOM
So we have Smokescreen doing Spy Things for the Cons. What if instead of having gone through the whole Elita Guard training which wouldā€™ve been incredibly risky, they just set him up to intercept the actual Guardsmen whoā€™d been assigned to Trion so he can replace them. For most, guarding essentially a glorified librarian would be boring at best, but to a spy? Alpha Trion is the head of THE Iacon Archives, a complete foundation of useful, difficult to access information
And what if this would be Smokescreenā€™s first proper undercover mission. Heā€™d done intelligence before, and he was really good at it, but this would be the first time heā€™d be going behind enemy lines for a long stretch of time. He thinks heā€™s got this completely in the bag
He does not have this completely in the bag
Unfortunately for Smokescreen, Alpha Trion keeps all KINDS of records in the Archives. Heā€™s got stuff in there from everybody, Autobot, Decepticon and Neutral, from news clippings to videos to all manner of propaganda. Heā€™s even got a whole secret section dedicated to banned media.
And when Smokescreenā€™s doing his spy investigationsā€¦.. he ends up finding a couple things he either didnā€™t know or didnā€™t really think about, and the datapads he finds offer a large amount of view points. Many of them are biased, but thereā€™s enough different view points that heā€™s able to piece together a picture.
And itā€™sā€¦.. not great, if heā€™s being honest. Sure the Autobots arenā€™t saints, but theyā€™re not the monsters Megatron and the Decepticons had painted them to be. Not the monsters Smokescreen had them as. And to make things even worse, the Decepticons arenā€™t nearly as good as heā€™s been made to believe. He learns of Shockwave and his experiments, the Decepticon Justice Division, Praxus, so many things heā€™d heard in passing but never got all the context for and even more things heā€™d never even heard of
Smokescreen didnā€™t like not knowing things. He was an intelligence agent, knowing things was his jobā€¦.. or at least, he thought it was.
So heā€™s faced with a crisis. He knows he canā€™t go back to the Decepticons knowing what he knows now, but at the same time the Decepticons wonā€™t take his defection well and thereā€™s no guarantee that the Autobots will take him in. Right now Alpha Trion is his best and really only option for safety and honestlyā€¦.. he really does trust the guy. His friendship made with him wasnā€™t all faked, and he genuinely likes him.
So he decides heā€™s going to tell Alpha Trion the truth and go from there. He can figure out the specifics of his maybe(?) defection after that.
ā€¦ā€¦only he doesnā€™t get the chance because then the Fall of Iacon happens and Smokescreen gets knocked out
He does wake up on the ship like in canon, only this time he isnā€™t a prisoner because they knew who he was. Instead he wakes up in the med bay and is told they found him unconscious in the Archives. They say heā€™s to wait for his next assignment and then heā€™ll be off
Only now the full force of what heā€™s doing comes crashing down and he realizes just how badly heā€™s fucked up. Alpha Trion is now dead and itā€™s all thanks to what heā€™s done. Because he was too afraid and too unwilling and too slow to accept everything, now heā€™s lost his best friend and mentor who showed him more kindness than he felt he deserved
And what if in that moment Smokescreen decides once and for all that heā€™s going to defect and nothings going to stop him. And if he gets caught, at least heā€™s going to go out with a bang. So he uploads every virus he can onto that ship and causes as much chaos and havoc as possible before jettisoning himself off via an escape pod
ā€¦ā€¦only then it turns out one of his viruses had messed with the pods as well at set the one he got into into a long distance pod
And as much as it sucks, he decides to use the new anonymity to its fullest. He doesnā€™t trust them completely, since even with all heā€™s learned itā€™s still a little difficult to fully trust them so he doesnā€™t come out with the full truth, most importantly his now ex-Decepticon spy status
as for the reveal, what if it happens during Inside Job. Megatronā€™s poking around in his head and finds some things Smokescreen had wanted ti keep secret, and now he has some blackmail that he could use to fracture the Autobots a bitā€¦ā€¦ like say during the Children-Omega Key Exchange when they fight for the Onega Lock
but yeah those are what I could come up with :D

Go for it! I look forward to anyone's interpretation of any idea I have.
Lethal Protector
I had an AU idea in mind for this one fic where Eddie bonds with the symbiote to eliminate Peter's relatives/friends in order to protect him instead of hurt him. Because of Peter getting hurt by the people who care about him. So Eddie agrees to bond with it in order to become Peter's Lethal Protector. Whether he wants him to or not.
I kinda wanted to mix the yandere of the symbiote with Brock's friendship with Peter. I remember hearing about Brock getting a redemption arc but I didn't think it would work with his canon character. He seemed too invested in hate and I was looking for a way to make him redeemable. I thought this would have been a better way to make it work.
Shout out to hermesserpent-stuff who encouraged me to post this. Like and/or comment if you want to hear the rest!

Is it wrong that when I'm thinking back to when Smokescreen was in the process of escaping the prison ship, I'm imagining him running into the DJD and pretending to be a Decepticon spy?
He has to act like an eager young spy who loves and fears Megatron as much as the rest of them. He jumps ship the moment their backs are turned, but it doesn't feel like it was fast enough to wash the yucky taste out of his mouth bc he had to compliment MEGATRON OF ALL PEOPLE.
(On the plus side, he did manage to snag some reaaallly bad poetry of Megatron's that Tarn had saved. If Smokescreen hadn't been stationed at the Hall of Records, he may not have felt as qualified to judge beyond it being bad. But he had, and so he did. It was both the worst and best thing ever to read/hear. Almost made up for seeing those strung-up dead miners with writing on them.)
It's so funny that the cons are supposed to trick people but then they immediately get trick, outplayed and bamboozled by some security guard that never officially finished collage but somehow have a better acting skills.
Fly high Smokescreen.

From the Roots Up
Peter puts a plan into motion in order to shake the foundations of the underworld. Neither Rhino or Sandman were prepared. Tombstone will be even less so.
Something was weird about this fight. As for what that something was? That was the itch that Flint Marko couldn't scratch. The web-head was cracking jokes like usual. And O'Hirn was getting angry at the guy like usual. There was punching and dodging going on, same as all the other fights.
Except. . .Spider-Man wasn't making many offensive moves. Sure, punches and kicks didn't do much to either of them but that never seemed to stop him from having a trick up his sleeve. He kept flipping further and further away towards some street work. Alarm bells rang in Flint's head. As someone who had challenged Spidey on a regular basis, both as plain Flint Marko and Sandman, he knew how tricky his enemy could be in a fight.
"Hey, wait up!" he called out to Rhino. "Don't let 'im separate-"
The ground chose that moment to give way beneath his long-time partner's feet.
"Ahhhhh-oof!"
He sighed, ". . .Nevermind."
"Well, you did try," the vigilante's chimed in.
He glared at the ever-present cause of his misfortune, who flipped flawlessly mid-air into the new hole in the street like one o' those fancy gymnasts on TV.
"You're welcome to join your buddy and me down here. Or not. Although, he might've mentioned at one point that he doesn't do too well in tunnels, especially by himself," the bug's voice continued to echo up through the hole.
Flint remembered all right. After that blowout of a fight, O'Hirn had to be rehydrated while knocked out and then sedated. How they managed to do that without any skin on his arms to put an IV, the silicate supervillain had no idea.
Leaving O'Hirn alone to face the guy that scared the pants off of most of the underworld was not an option. If they got caught again, it was nothing new, but at least he wouldn't be a wuss for letting his partner get caught alone.
He jumped down.
Sometimes, Flint thinks, it pays to have superpowers. because that drop wouldn't've gone as good if he had normal legs instead of sand.
As his eyes adjust, he can make out . . . train tracks?? Are they in part of the subway or something? He was about to look around further for Rhino but-
CRASH!
-that wasn't needed.
"Marko! Glad you could make it! I hope the decor isn't too rustic for your tastes. O'Hirn doesn't seem to appreciate it that much," the weblinger snarked as he dodged yet another punch.
"I'll 'appreciate' it when I crush you all over the the walls, you sneaky little creep!" Rhino growled.
A high-powered jump onto the subway ceiling and Rhino could not longer follow through on that promise.
"As much as I would like to see you both fail at that again, that's not why I arranged this chat."
Flint snorted, "Oh, sure. Let me guess. You want to talk us into giving ourselves up and going straight."
Spider-Man made an so-so motion.
"Not exactly. But not too far off either. A good guess, though. And a choice that I wouldn't be opposed to either of you making."
They both opened their mouths and a hand shot up to halt their next words. Another hand webbed the hole next to the vigilante shut.
"There. I made sure we wouldn't be interrupted by cops anytime soon. The old tunnel we're in needs repairs but it's the workers' day off, so can you just hear me out for a second before attempting another murder on me here?"
Neither he or Rhino moved. They look at each other and then up at Spidey and then back to each other.
This was definitely out of the norm. Was it another trick? But why trap himself down here in the same space with two of his longtime enemies then? It made no sense!
His mouth was now moving but the words were surprising even him, "Well, uhhh. . .alright."
His partner shot him a look but he shot him one right back. They were both stuck down and he was curious, so sue him!
Spider-Man tilted his head, "Huh, this wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Well you see, when I said hear me out, I should have been more precise. I should have said 'hear me and the Big Man out'."
And with that, a little recorder was suddenly playing in the guy's hands.
"I'm here to see Mr. Lincoln."
"Then you should make an appointment."
//Line Break//
Peter could see the looks on their faces switch from interest to the beginnings of an unpleasant realization.
"Wait. You can't listen to him. He's the bad guy. He's--"
He clicked the tape off.
When he had broken into Tombstone's office that day, he had recorded the conversation just in case the guy said anything that could be used against him in court. It worked on sting operations and TV an awful lot. (Or maybe just the stings ops on TV??) But the more he rewinded and listened to it, however, the more he realized that very little wouldn't be thrown out in court. Between Lincoln's evasive wording around being the Big Man, the charges he brought against Spidey in the tape, plus the wealth and reputation the jerk has. . . Well, Peter knew nothing would come from showing the tape to any above board and official sources.
That's when it hit him. Spidey wasn't the only being treated like a pawn in that exchange. In fact, he'd wager guys like Marko and O'Hirn knew nothing about why they were made.
"He offered you money?!"//"I'll kill 'im! He set us up for jail!"
Called it. Poor guys.
"Hold up! One at a time, please. Yes, Sandy, he offered me a big briefcase full of cash to stay out of the way."
"H-how big a score are we talking here?"
Marko looked like he was about two seconds from breaking down in tears.
"Two rows of seven. All hundreds. None of the cash bundles in any row looked anemic," he responded matter-of-factly.
Sandman slumped onto the ground with his face in his hands.
"Soo, um, anything you want to ask, Rhino?"
Hornhead was trembling in rage and it seemed like a tremendous effort to open his mouth with the way he was grinding his teeth.
"Lincoln. Where do I find him?"
"I could tell you but trust me when I say smashing him is only going to make the problem worse."
"Then why tell us all this?! Look at what you did! You smashed everythin' we thought we knew and now you don't want to get the piece o' crud back?!"
"I didn't say I didn't want him taken down. Look, I could have accepted the money and been at home right now counting the zeros in my bank account. Instead, I'm here. All I'm saying is that smashing him only opens up his throne to people like the Goblin, who FYI, is far worse than Tombstone. And that's saying something."
"So we're screwed no matter what, then," Marko interjected from his seat on the floor.
Sandman's voice sounded lifeless and Rhino was clearly struggling to find anything to say to him.
Peter took a deep breath, "I made the mistake of thinking people like you were the enemy. I started being Spider-Man to help the little guy but I think we're all the little guy here. The Big Man thinks of us as little numbers on a ledger or like chess pieces if we get powerful enough to get noticed. Even if you go against him openly, he'll just replace you. With every day that passes, you're less and less unique because he can churn out more like you. And he'll ruin more people to send against me unless. . ."
Both sets of eyes were looking at him now. Even Rhino had calmed enough to seem interested in listening again.
"Unless what?"
"Unless we do the opposite of what Mr. Benevolent Overlord wants and team up."
End of Part One (Possibly more to come???)

In Spectacular Spider-Man, Peter drops a guy off a roof for interrogation purposes after a friend got kidnapped by the Six. Imagine Hawkmoth dealing with this chaotic, unpredictable child tossing his akumas all over the place. And he's trying to wait it out but no. Peter's just. . .not depowering. He's defeated five akumas today thus far on top of the 50+ normal crimes/crises. Add in the quips and Hawkmoth is ready to have a conniption.
Hawkmoth would fucking HATE Spider-Man, could you imagine? I mean, he fits all the criteria to be a miraculous holder...but minus the miraculous. Skintight, animal/bug themed suit? Named after an animal/bug? Mask? One Power + durability? Hawkmoth is out here wondering WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS KID'S MIRACULOUS, DAMMIT...
He's everything Hawkmoth despises about both Chat Noir and Ladybug combined: puns, red suit, resourceful, efficient (more or less) etc etc etc.
But he doesn't have to transform back and forth to use his power again, actually making him more efficient.
Plus, I feel like Ladybug and Chat Noir are less unsettling. Aww, spots! Cat ears! A TAIL OMG. Then you get to spidey...āšŖļøāšŖļø them fuckin eyes...
I got off track, but besides a lack of miraculous to steal, I feel like Spidey would be quick to track down + expose Hawkmoth for his crimes, landing him in jail without hesitation.

As angsty as this is supposed to be, I find Megatron being tortured in the background while Unicron nicely asks Smokescreen to join him hysterical in a sick sort of way.
Megatron: can I join you in conquering the galaxy? Please???
Unicron: SILENCE, MORTAL! *zaps him*
Meanwhile, Smokescreen: *minding his own business*
Unicron: hey, I know you're Primus' Chosen and all, but are you by any chance interested in joining me willingly for galactic conquest?
Megatron: !!! >:(
(A few moments later-
Megatron: wait, what'd you mean by Primus' Chosen?
Unicron: it's exactly what it sounds like, fool. *zaps him more*)
So... For Dark Infection. How would Smokescreen react to Unicron start up possessing Megatron? And how would it affect the voices in his head? Would it just be one voice that's a mix of Unicron and Megatron? Not to mention you never touched up an how Unicron screws with Smokescreen in the first place.
w e l l :))))
Smokescreen had been having the time of his life. Sure the Dark Energon was still in his system and had it's own issues, but it was INFINITELY easier to deal with now that Megatron was dead. Gone were the mental jabs and prodding trying to glean any useful information from his mind, gone was the voice feeding into his insecurities trying to turn him against the other Autobots, gone was the constant fear of slipping up and hurting everyone around him
for the first time in months, Smokescreen was genuinely happy
but then all that changes when he goes to sleep one night. He dreams of a darkened void filled with purple lightning and clouds. Of a gargantuan being made of the deepest rocks and stones yet with the unmistakable air of divinity. Of vivid purple eyes, a mirror of his own, that threaten to drown him if he looks too long
He dreams of a booming, yet oddly comforting voice. Of a hand extended, offering to take his. Of promises that swear to bring a better life than he can dream
but he hesitates. In the distance he hears muffled cursing and screaming of a voice he recognizes in time with lightning strikes, and it frightens him
so the voice offers an ultimatum. In a few weeks time, he will arrive on Cybertron with his vessel, at which Smokescreen must make his choice. Stand by him willingly, or be reduced to a puppet
and then he awakens
he does not do so quietly or calmly. He awakens screaming and fighting an invisible assailant. The Dark Energon's presence in his mind and spark burns and aches in a pulsing rhythm, almost like a promise of what was to come. His eyes and biolights glow with an intensity rivaling when he was first infected, and he feels a rush of power he only felt in the midst of battle
the following days are strange. It's a balance of both being skeptical of Unicron and Megatron's return, but still preparing because if it is then the results would be disastrous. Smokescreen tries to keep himself busy and drown out Unicron's rapidly growing presence in his mind. He rarely speaks to Smokescreen outside of when he sleeps, but he's always there and almost certainly watching
as for when he shows up........
Unicron's mental prods and tugs for control weren't even comparable to Megatron's. Megatron's were always like a particularly annoying grab, fragile and weak but definitely noticeable
Unicron's........ it was all consuming. It was an ocean that could easily drown him and not even allow a moment to breathe, yet doesn't. He presence recedes the closer he gets, yet instead of being comforting it instead sparks a growing anxiety like a tsunami preparing to crash down
the only reason Smokescreen still has control is because Unicron is letting him, and he can't forget that for a second

TSSM Future-Sight aka Peter gets fun dreams on top of his regularly scheduled PTSD
Since there's no counterpart of Madame Web in TSSM, Peter gets oh-so-lovely dreams of the future. (He's baffled because what the heck do these dreams have to do with the rest of his spider-powers? Then he remembers the mystery that is spider-sense and chalks it up to an extension of that.)
It starts small with stuff like seeing Sally yelling at him for asking her out when she's with Randy and some guy with a metal arm injecting stuff. And then it's some weird confrontation between Mr. Osborn and a bald guy over some tech??? A flat-headed guy and a voicebox ordering a hit on Spidey to a cowboy, a big guy with impressive facial hair, and a small overdressed Creole? Gets increasingly more disturbing as the days go by showing him various villain transformations as we go along. I have so many ideas and the funny thing is that most of the canon-changing stuff would be the dialogue/quiet moments.
Like Harry drinking the Green before football, Osborn's dealings with Hammerhead and lack of care towards Spider-man's life, Chameleon pulling off a Connors mask, etc. None of those are huge, flashy moments.
The awesome part is that any mixture of moments can be used to write with Peter. And the reactions behind both the villains and supporting cast unwittingly dealing with this would be HYSTERICAL.

Thank you for thinking so! I can see him reacting to his counterpart's GENUINE devotion to Optimus with confusion and gets uber-critical of his counterpart. Maybe a series of confrontations between the two where the main Smokescreen figures out that SG!Smokescreen is questioning him so harshly because of his own doubts in SG!Optimus and the Autobot cause.
Something like:
"Why do you follow the Prime on your earth? What reasons can you possibly have to have that much devotion if you weren't conditioned to do so? How do you know he's really Primus' Chosen?"
". . .I understand now. These questions aren't actually for me, are they? These are YOUR doubts. You know deep down that your Optimus isn't worth following but you've been told otherwise for so long that seeing a different version of him really live up to the hype has gotta be nuts. Wow, I thought I was the one having a crisis meeting you guys. Oh wait, I guess I technically still am."
I submitted this ask before on a different blog but I wondered if you'd have any interest.
How about this: Shattered Glass!Smokescreen is an Autobot who is VERY disillusioned with the cause. Has absolutely no illusions of glory or true loyalty to Optimus. Cold and calculating tactician/strategist as a result of his environment but secretly desires peace. (Inverting canon Smokey's desire to be a great warrior) Really ironic because SG!Optimus actually kinda likes Smokescreen (as much the dude is capable of it) because of all the times he saved OP's life and contributed heavily to Autobot victories during his comparatively short tenure on Earth. (Inverting how canon Smokey had to prove his loyalty and abilities to a somewhat prickly Team Prime.) What the Autobots don't know is that Smokescreen is going through the motions of the "ideal soldier" that he was (unsuccessfully) indoctrinated with during his time with SG!Alpha Trion at the Hall of Records and doesn't quite know if he can break out of that persona.
Whereas regular Smokey had to temper his idealism when faced with reality and war, SG!Smokey's character development is about reawakening his idealism and realizing that Optimus cannot decide what is right for him.
I really like the idea of SG Smokescreen finding hope and meaning again.
He's grown so disillusioned with the war, with Optimus' tyrannical rule, that he feels trapped. Being an autobot wasn't a choice he made, it was one that was made for him. Disobedience was beaten out of him, Smokescreen was conditioned to loyal to a cause he never actually believed in, to a tyrannical leader he feared.
But then things gradually start to change. He arrives on Earth, encounters the decepticons, sees real, true heroism and experiences genuine kindness. It awakens something in him, something he never thought he had to begin with; hope.
All of this makes him want to change. Smokescreen wants to be better, to become someone that makes his own choices solely because he believes them to be righteous and true.
It's a really interesting concept for a fic...
