I really love Marcille and Laios' relationship so much. They have such a deep connection and clearly care about each other a lot. They have such a beautiful friendship that I don't understand how people genuinely think she hates him.

Why is Senshi posed like he’s waiting for his lover to come back to bed?

Wanted to correct this because as @drkatfuzzmunchkin and another reblog that I sadly can't find pointed out: I goofed. So, after playing around with the numbers some more, I think I found a more consistent method that lines up more with the other races too.
I'm still using tall men as my base, however for short lived races I'm basing it off of the canon average lifespan of 60 where for long lived races I'm using 80. Im doing this for a number of reasons.
Firstly, as stated in my original post, dwarves canonically mature at a rate of 2.5 times slower than tall men, which only seems to work if tall men live to 80. My second reason is that using this method means that all human races (except gnomes) reach maturity at their equivalent to 16, so it seems intentional. Finally, I think its wise to divide the numbers between short and long lived races because its stated that while long lived races typically live in fertile, resource rich areas, short lived races are forced to fight over the scraps and live in extreme environments. Its why Tall-men only live to 60 when they mature at the same rate as irl humans. These extreme conditions and lack of resources can cause social pressures, and the role social expectations and pressures play on maturation isn't something to be ignored. Because of this, using the 60-year age as a base, knowing that tall men could and would live longer under better circumstances, feels justified when other short-lived races are in the same boat.
So:
Dwarves age 2.5 times slower
Elves age 5 times slower
Gnomes age 3 times slower (making their age of maturity equivalent to 13 unless they age at a different pace than everyone else)
Half-foots age 1.2 times faster (this may seem like it makes chilchuck way too young at first (34), but if you think about it, it actually doesn't. If you were only going to make it to 60, 34 IS middle age. And as for his kids; he was canonically a teen dad by half-foot standards. Mei and Fler were born when he was 13 (15), before he reached adulthood. So, with adjusted ages, he is the 34 year old dad of two 19 year olds and a 16 year old in a world where 16 is the age of adulthood.)
Ogres age 1.03 times faster (but given what we know about how they're treated and how close their life expectancy is to tall-men I'd be willing to bet money its actually 1 to 1)
Demi-humans and their adjusted ages of maturity just for shits and giggles:
Kobolds age 1.09 times faster and their age of maturity is 13, which is adjusted to 14 (if its not just the ogre situation over again)
Same with Orcs, but their age of maturity is 14 which adjusts to 15.
So I decided to do some maturation math for the party and depending on how you calculate dwarven maturation, Chilchuck could be the oldest in terms of maturation.
To put it in relatable terms, I tried to calculate how old everyone would be if they were Tall-men.
Tall men only have the average lifespan of 60 in dunmeshi so shorter than most places irl.
Half-foots are only 10 years shorter for as much emphasis they put on how short-lived they are at an average lifespan of 50 years.
Dwarves live to 200... which brings complications. Laios mentions that dwarves live 2.5 times longer than tall men but... they don't. They live 3.33 times longer. 2.5 would mean tall-men have the average life expectancy of 80, which real people do in Japan. So I think Kui just forgot that tall-men don't live as long when she wrote that. But that means there are two valid ways to calculate Dwarven maturation. For this I'll do both and I'm not sure which I prefer yet.
Marcille is stated to be roughly the equivalent of a 20 year old and I'm just going to role with that because her maturation is a mess.
So for Chilchuck, I just added 10 years to his age for his Tall-man maturation level, meaning he's basically a 38 year old.
For Senshi, I divided his age by the two numbers we have. So, going with the 2.5 estimation, Senshi would be 44, pushing 45. (44.8) But if we go with the 3.33 estimation, he'd only be 36.
SO if you take dwarven maturation at the 3.33 times slower than tall-man maturation then Chilchuck is the oldest in the context of maturation at his species’ equivalent of 38. If you take the stated 2.5 maturation rate for Dwarves then the eldest is Senshi at his species’ equivalent of 44. Laios is third at 26, and Marcille is the youngest adult at ~20-ish, and Izutsumi is 17 as she is just a tall-man with a curse.

If you migrate from Wattpad to Ao3....
I'm fucking begging you to actually tag your works properly AND DO NOT CENSOR WHAT YOU WRITE OR TAG !!! Terms like "unalive" "sewer slide" and other censored terms are NOT welcome here, and you wont be punished by the algorithm for talking about death and blood and stuff BECAUSE THERES IS NO ALGORITHM ! Also making place holders IS NOT ALLOWED BY AO3 TOS. It just clogs up the archive for nothing, if you do this, thats a sure way to get your stuff reported. Please learn how Ao3 works, its nothing like Wattpad.

Its weird that Izutsumi is, by the rules of the world she lives in, an adult. Tall-men become adults at 16, and she is 17.
BUT it highlights that tall-men mature at the the same rate as humans irl because Izutsumi is so painfully, clearly, a teenager and is treated as a kid by the rest of the party.
This is extra interesting because it seems that all races reach adulthood at their equivalent of 16... and if they're the same maturity as 16 year olds irl, that has implications...
Chilchuck was getting married, and having babies at what we can assume was 15 year old irl maturity. He mentions that he's worried about Puckpatti not taking life seriously... sir, she is 14, aka 16 year old maturity, OF COURSE SHE ISN'T!

its kind of sad that if I, a trans man, decide by my own free will to wear a dress, I have to specifically tell people that I'm not detransitioning. Trans men, boys, mascs, and neutrals can wear feminine shit. Just because we want to be fem doesn't make us suddenly not trans or faking it or whatever the fuck else.
we get to decide how we identify.
not the clothes we wear.
and not you.

No wonder she's so scared. She's expected to live to ONE THOUSAND. 1000 and she's 50.
Even elves only live to 400. Two generations of ELVES will live and die before her. Id be terrified too.

Idk about anyone else but Chilchuck being accurately read as an empty nester rather than a deadbeat dad has a lot more potential. Cause generally empty nesters tend to find or end up with folks to parent or pets to fill the void of 'my kids don't need me anymore', 'the house is empty/too quiet', and such.
You could argue that the older man who started a union and is a union boss looking out for the other half-foots in the area might be subconsciously viewing folks as replacement kids.

I love how much more complexity is added to the way Chilchuck acts when you realize he's a dad.
For example, his fear around being caught up with black magic. He's definitely the most worried out of everyone and it makes sense. Not only is he the most grounded in terms of thinkinh about the consequences of things, but he has the most at risk if they get arrested by elves. They explain that elves can take decades just to interrogate their prisoners. Dude's middle-aged and from the shortest lived race, he doesn't have decades.
But add on the fact that he's a dad. Of course he's the most worried! Not only will his arrest be bad for him, it would be bad for his kids! They'd probably never know what happened to him and would lose a parent at a young age (they're adults, but they're young adults. If Chil is 29, then Patti's only 14).

The amount of nonbinary friends I've had ask me, a binary trans man, if they're "allowed" to call themselves a part of the trans community is so sad. Yes, of course you can. We are all in this together. You can fly the trans flag you can call yourself trans you can celebrate TDOV and mourn TDOR with us please come hold my hand and fight by my side. When you started identifying as nonbinary you got an optional trans bundle, too—you don't have to take it but you absolutely should if you want to. The white stripe is for you.
