Time
Aloy felt drained. Usually, she didn’t seek shelter until night fell, but these past days, or was it weeks even, seemed to blend into one another with no end in sight. It was getting to her; too much happening throughout the day, too little downtime, too few true and deep embraces, too few kisses from the man she loved, because there simply wasn’t time for more.
Time… what a fleeting concept. Precious time, seldom spent with the people or on things one truly loved, rushing from one task to another.
She dropped heavily on the shelter’s cot, pulled her knees up to her chin, decompressing by staring at nothing; she let the soft afternoon breeze caress her skin, let the last rays of sunshine kiss her cheeks, let the birds welcome the evening with their song.
Slowly she raised her hand to her ear and tapped her Focus. “I miss you,” she simply said.
“And I miss you,” he replied. “I can be there in a few,” he said, without hesitation.
Aloy nodded, near imperceptibly. “Kotallo?”
“Yes, Aloy?”
“I…”
“I know, Love.” Then he added, “I’ll bring food, and time.”
“Thank you.”
“Always.”

I don’t know if anyone has ever done this before but, here ya go… The Different Types of Fanfiction!
I probably left a few out, but these are the most common, compared to their base fiction’s canon plot. Enjoy! XD

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:
1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.
2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.
3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.
4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.
We look forward to welcoming you all and seeing the fantastic works you create. Happy writing!

Just so you all realize and see it in action:
This fic was finished in 2015 and the author hadn't had a comment since 2016. They appreciated the comment even though it was just emoji hearts, they were happy and surprised to receive love on their older fic.
Don't stop commenting just because it's an old piece or because you think you can't come up with something smart, witty or thoughtful to say.
Just say anything. Just put an emoji. Just let them know you appreciate their work.

Works like a charm!
how to post a work privately on ao3
So you want to archive your work but you don’t want all of it visible to everyone else. What you need to do is make a collection!
Collections have lots of uses, but this post is going to focus on using a collection to make some (or all!) of your works private so that only you can see them.
1. If you’ve never made a collection before, start by going to your Dashboard and then choosing Collections from the sidebar (on desktop) or the top of the page (on mobile). Then click on the New Collection button and fill in the information.
2. In the Header Section you only need to worry about giving it a name and a display title. This is because you’re just making this collection for yourself. The other infoboxes are there for you to fill out if you’re creating a collection for a fandom event.
The name is what you’ll use to add works to your collection. Choose something unique so that you don’t accidentally try to add your work to someone else’s collection.
The display title is the name that people will see if they go to your Works page. You can use any name you’d like here, but remember that it will be visible to others.
3. In the Preferences Section, you’ll want to set your collection as moderated and unrevealed.
Moderating your collection means that the owner (you) gets to choose which works get added. If anyone else tries to add works to your collection, you can refuse. Keeping it unrevealed means that no one can see the works that are inside of it. They can see the collection, but it will look like it’s empty.
You can leave the rest of the sections empty. Those are all for fandom events and informing other people of rules and other information. None of that is necessary in this case.
4. After you have created your collection, you can edit your existing works to hide them. Edit the work and scroll down the posting form until you get to the section called Associations. The first text box in that section is Post to Collections/Challenges. Type the name of your collection into this box and press enter. Don’t worry if it doesn’t show up in the dropdown. As long as you provide the name (and not the display title!), you’ll be fine.
5. Save your edit and congrats! You’ve successfully made that work private so that only you can see it.
When another user visits your profile, they’ll be able to see you have a collection. They’ll see the display name, and they’ll see the total number of fandoms and works that are in your collection. By clicking the number next to the word Fandom, they’ll be able to see the list of all of the fandoms you’ve written for in that collection. However, if they click the number next to the word Works, they’ll just see a message that says, “This is part of an ongoing challenge and will be revealed soon!”
If you want to see for yourself what it looks like to other users, visit my AO3 profile and see for yourself.
Oh, and I’ve tested it out and it seems that if you post a new work and add it into the collection immediately (while posting), subscribers won’t get notified about it! So that’s a bonus too :)

It's happened a few times now, that I have a story outlined in my mind, I start to write, the characters begin their journey and suddenly the words take on a life of their own, veering off course, their flow taking me places I didn't intend to go, but I let them, set them free, follow their path.
It's frustrating and wonderful at the same time.
I'm in love with this creative process.

Tall tales
Ukkah debated whether to believe the Champion's tale.
"He did what?" Ukkah asked in disbelief.
"It's true! I kid you not! He did!" Aloy nodded.
"Kotallo actually let the Oseram drink him under the table?"
"Yup." Aloy laughed. "Should've seen him next morning. Such a mess!" She giggled some more. "Erend and him kept running to the bathroom like it was a competition. Those Old World drinking games are no joke."
"Well, at least they had fun while it lasted, I guess."
"Oh yeah, it was great! Next time we'll invite you up to the Base."
"Err... okay..."
