also, like. i still wanna know how dabi knew to target tomie specifically (is the hpsc that shitty of an organization???), and while we’re on the topic. i would also like to know what was up with his whole “more than twice, more than anyone, you should have been keeping both eyes on me” line, and whaaat he said in the black text bubble. cause now it just feels weird that he would have said “todoroki touya,” since hawks no longer has that card as a plot device. like he never did anything with the knowledge, and it’s not like he wouldn’t have found out with the broadcast. so what was the point in doing that?? 🤔

i think something i’d really like to see with hawks going forward is self recognition of his own power + growth. like in this chapter (299), it very much felt that a lot of his endurance was attributed to the endeavor plushie. and while i won’t deny that or the impact endeavor has had on him by allowing him an escape from an abusive situation, i just hope he realizes that he got himself through that situation, too, and that he’s a lot stronger than he likely gives himself credit for. like, when tomie tells him, “hopefully you’ll grow as strong as him one day,” all i could think of was the fight against the high end nomu in kyushu, and hawks’ “seeing my back’s not all that reassuring.” so he moves to support endeavor because he probably feels that’s the most of what he can accomplish. and while there’s strength in support, i’d love to see him grow out of that supportive role and into his own hero. especially now with his newfound freedom.
