Not sure how to take the news that the class act that is @GlendaBailey is stepping down from her editorship at #HarpersBazaar to become #globalconsultant for #Hearst. The door further closes on an era that produced monthly magazines that fueled the dreams for so many of us growing up, and later fostered careers. On the latter, thanks to #Glenda and the dynamo @laurabrown, among my celebrity and lifestyle features for #Bazaar, I had the opportunity in 2012 to share the challenges—and inevitable, joyful success—of becoming a parent via #adoption (accompanying photo by old friend, the artist #ValentinToledo). I so remember just having gotten off the plane and into a rental car, all the while going back and forth on the mobile with Laura and Glenda’s concerns and care regarding my story. They wanted to get it just right. And for the sake of parents going through the same process, a harrowing one as it always is, I am grateful. 🥂 to you Glenda on your new adventure. Mingling my excitement for the THIRD #Oscar nomination for the force that is @AriannePhillips and this #TurbanTuesday with this gem from 2011. The #costumedesigner extraordinaire that is Arianne is up for the little gold man this time for her work on #Tarantino's #OnceUponATimeInHollywood (in case you’ve been under a rock). Her attention to detail is bar none, and that includes the not-so-minor detail of staying generous: be it her and @carinehmartins’ #redcarpet initiative @radvocacy OR with her friends. I’ve benefitted over the years, including when she co-hosted with #JeremyScott the release bash for my second book, spotlighting #FredHayman and his impact on #Hollywood (including #Oscarfashion) and #BeverlyHills. It was the first event at @CaulfieldBH in that city, much thanks to another angel, the sparkling @linlee_allen. And don’t even get me started on what a gem Mr. Hayman was! My ghost of Christmas past: #OldGhosts. The best gift is an unexpected one, and what a sincere surprise it is to open a mystery package with this mug inside. On it, a trinity of expressive #mugshots by someone dear from a past life, the artist and skate legend #JohnAGrigley. We met not long after he and his fellow Floridian @Chuck_Hults moved west to enter the nascent skateboard industry in OC. I was 18, dating Chuck, and spent as many hours as possible at their apartment. Not long after, I had a sizable slice of John’s pristine vinyl collection (still do) and his roommate, as Chuck and I moved in together. John left for New York a lifetime ago, and our recent communications, if you can call it that, has been thru this newfangled IG. He posted a mug. I commented I needed one. And voilà.
