My opinion on West Side Story (warning: spoilers)
Hello fellow fiction obsessed beings,
So recently I’ve been obsessed with West Side Story. To clarify, I mean the version from 2021. And let me tell you that I didn’t expect to be, cause I’m not the type to love romantic movies, unless it’s Disney. Especially not the ones where the main character pulls an Anna from Frozen. But this movie still intrigued me, let me tell you why.
First of all, the music and dancing was amazing. Especially Anita, with her iconic yellow dress was something that I personally loved, during their performance of the song: America.
Second of all, the story itself. Even if you aren’t a big fan of romantic movies, the movie is still amazing. This is because, beside the romance between Maria and Tony, there is also the other big plotline where the Jets and the Sharks are having this “war”. Because yes, you could argue that Maria and Tony their forbidden relationship caused everything to escalate, but personally I think it was just a matter of time, before things got bad. Both of the groups hated each other and did everything to annoy each other. Maria and Tony were just another reason for the groups to get annoyed with each other.
Third of all, the dark ending. Even though I hate it, in a good way. I didn’t expect it. Since these kinda movies in a way remind me of Disney, I expected that there would be a more happy ending to it. But nope, after the rumble, stuff gets really dark. The leaders of both groups die, first Riff gets killed by Bernardo, and then Tony kills Bernardo in return for killing his best friend. A.k.a. you could say that that escalated quickly. Then we get an emotional and heavy song between Anita and Maria, since Anita just lost the love of her life, because of Maria her boyfriend. Needless to say, I cried. However, even though Anita is sad and mad, she is still willing to help Maria deliver a message to Valentina. Eventually she lied, which I was disappointed about, but I do understand why she lied, especially after what the Jets did to her. At that point the only person from the Jets that I still respect is Anybodys, he’s awesome throughout the whole movie. I’m not including Tony here, cause although I do respect him, I do think he wasn’t really a part of the Jets anymore, but he stayed around at the moments they needed him, cause he cared about Riff. And I respect him too for being one of the only people who included Anybodys.
Okay, so there is a lot I do like, but I also have some stuff that I don’t like. Or well, just made me yell at my screen. One of which is Maria and Tony their toxic relationship. Yes, many people will argue that their relationship was adorable and that they want a partner like that. But even though it’s good that they loved each other unconditionally, THEY ONLY KNEW EACH OTHER FOR 5 MINUTES AND ALREADY FELL IN LOVE. Maybe I’m too aromantic to understand this, but like Elsa once said: “You can’t marry a man you just met.” And especially not die for a person you just met. Don’t get me wrong, grieving is normal, some people get into a depression, normal too, that’s all valid, but this went beyond that. Maria and Tony were way to dependent on each other. They both had a void inside them, that they wanted to fill with love from someone they just met. And yes, I understand this is just a movie with a message. But my concern is that people tend to ignore the toxic, and think it is romantic. Although, to each their own. I personally ship two guys where one tried to kill the other in an interrogation room, so who am I to judge?
Anyways, this blog became longer than I expected it to be, since I just ended up ranting about this movie. Don’t get me wrong though, I still love the movie.
If you also have some opinions about the movie, don’t be afraid to share them in the comments.

About me
Hello fellow fiction obsessed beings,
My name is Yana, but most of my friends call me Rose. This blog is for a school project where we have to keep a blog for a while. I decided to do this around the theme of fiction. I’m a person with a lot of recommendations, hence the name ‘rosesrecommendations’. So you can expect book, movie, show and game recommendations on this blog, if that wasn’t clear yet.

The Cruel Prince - spoiler free review
Hello fellow fiction obsessed beings,
So my recommendations would mainly be movies, series and games when I started this. However, I just finished reading The Cruel Prince a few days ago and I need to talk about that.
So the main story is about Jude, a human girl whom gets taken to Fearie with her two sisters by Madoc. Madoc is fey and the ex husband of their mother. I say ex husband, because he killed her and her new partner in front of the kids. However, Madoc does feel like he is responsible for Jude, Taryn and Vivi (the sisters), so he takes care of them, by taking them into the household where they now live, with his new partner Oriana and their son Oak. We basically get to see Jude her point of view on the whole situation and how she wants to try to become part of this new world in her own way. And she has to do this while being bullied and tortured most of the time by her enemy Cardan and his friends. Do I recommend this book? Hell yes. Although there are some things that you should know before you decide to read it. As for any kind of content, tastes differ. So this book ain't for everybody. Here are some things to consider if you are interested: - It's a YA fantasy book - Politics is an important part of the plot, which I personally loved, but I know some people aren't a huge fan of that. - Romance is a sub plot. So don't expect it to have a lot of romance. - It does have some dark and cruel scenes, but since it's YA, it's not nightmares inducing.
I’m still not done talking about this book, but since I need to keep it spoiler free, I’ll make another blog with spoilers another time.  If you do end up reading it, or have read it, leave a comment!

How I write my reviews
Hello fellow fiction obsessed beings.
Knowing me, I’ll probably try different things and see what works, but I will try to keep my reviews structured. So if you’re interested in why I make my reviews the way that I do or you want to review stuff, specifically content, yourself, you could follow these steps:
Step 1: Decide what you want to review, maybe a good idea.
Step 2: Make sure that you decide beforehand if you want to discuss spoilers or not. If you do talk about spoilers, it would be nice if you add a spoiler warning. Cause if you don’t, people will hunt you down for the rest of your life.
Step 3: Mention what you’re going to review and why.
Step 4: Write a short or long summary about the content, depending on if it’s spoiler free or not and how obsessed you are about it. RIP everyone who'll read my posts about my obsessions.
Step 5: Mention why you recommend it and to whom. In my opinion it’s nice to know what to expect, before I spend money or time in something.
Step 6: This is optional, but you could end the blog with a specific line you use for all of your reviews. For example where you ask for other people their opinion.
Well, that’s it. Let’s see how fast I’ll move away from this structure.
