I really enjoyed making my initial master post of audition songs for various roles, but I wanted to figure out how to make it easier to read. So... I decided to change it into a Google Docs format presenting the same information and more. Each doc includes a detailed character description for nearly each character in the show included with my song AND MONOLOGUE suggestions which I plan to update frequently with new sections and new shows.
Thus far, I have selections for:
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Addams Family, Anything Goes, Beauty and the Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, Cabaret, Cinderella, Grease, Hairspray, Heathers, High School Musical, Into the Woods, Legally Blonde, Les Miserables, Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors, Little Women, Mamma Mia, Matilda, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Seussical, Shrek, Sweeney Todd, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Urinetown

After dealing with some frustration with some of my sheet music and the impossible task of finding accompaniments, I decided I should probably make more audition-friendly sheet music for songs I recommend all the time. l have made files for Inside Your Heart from Bat Boy and have a wishlist in the folder of songs I am planning on editing into solo editions, if you have any other suggestions, feel free to send it my way. Also, if you need music/tracks for audition purposes, try and send it my way a week in advance if possible.
Enjoy!

After months of work and deliberation, I have decided to release this absolute BEAST of a project into the world in hopes it can help more people find new repertoire with many college shows and auditions going forward.
The Hal Leonard Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology has always been one of the best collections for audition-ready sheet music, so I wanted to make it easier to find songs that fit your particular needs by putting together this comprehensive spread sheet with info on each song’s vocal range, style, era/style it was written, piano accompaniment difficulty, etc for all 7 volumes (and 16-bar and Teen versions) within the Soprano, Belter, Tenor and Baritone/Bass volumes, plus the Children’s and Ensembles (Duets, Trios and Quartets are each on their own sheet in the same doc).
I am still working my way through all of the sheets annotating in detail, but I hope that what is already displayed for each song will help you begin updating your rep book. I plan on updating frequently, so just ask if you need more info or a correction on any particular song.
Have fun!

More monologues!! I would still definitely love more male monologues, though I am quite happy with my new female selections. I would love whatever selections you can give, as I will continue to update this every once in a while. Have fun!!

So...2020
Hi.
So it’s been a year. Since graduating high school and since you-know-what decided to rear it’s ugly head, I think many of us have been trying to find ways to reconnect with the theatre community. While I was still in school, I started receiving a few emails requesting audition songs. That combined with many of my friends and I rebuilding our rep books and refining our recording skills for video auditions made me decide to restart this blog with a few new features. I have been working for quite a few months on these new features, and feel as ready as I’ll ever be to expose my work thus far. I will unveil the 1st few links in the next couple of days, and please send all of your ideas and recommendations my way. I’m excited to provide as many resources as possible!
<3 Siobhan

Common Audition Masterpost!!!
This is my list of several shows that get performed A LOT, and audition songs I would recommend for them. If you are going for one of these roles, I Hope this list is a good starting point for picking the perfect song. Same goes if you want to find a less cliche alternative to that iconic song/role in your repertoire (but again, if you own the song like no one else, who cares. I don’t care how many blogs say “Privilege to Pee” is getting overdone, I’m not dropping it). Still, for a lot of these, I remember coming up with the perfect song for a particular character when I had no access to paper/my phone so I forgot most of these. Meaning: I will probably suddenly recall that perfect piece, and actually write it down. If you aren’t completely satisfied with any of these options, just ask. I like seeing what roles are in high demand, and can look at these parts from different eyes. Also, if you have success with any particular song/monologue. Send it to me! I want to have a success story tag to help people get ideas, and I will also be constantly adding new monologues to this SPREADSHEET.
Also, I put asterisks by the songs I would personally use/I enjoy the best, but it depends on your mindset and production. Some of these songs are perfect for the character, but limit your opportunities for roles (ex: most songs for Cosette in Les Mis sound completely different from those for Fantine, Mme Thenardier, or Eponine), so I tried to look at this from both lenses: first as someone who wants to show as much range as possible and be considered for everything (what I personally do, and therefore feel most comfortable recommending), then as someone wanting to perfectly embody their dream role (which I totally get, we all have those). These are just my personal opinions, and if you disagree, that’s fine. In the end, neither of us can control what the casting director thinks.
I compiled this list based on my own opinions, as well as ideas from mtsheetmusic, musicaltheatresongrecs, theatretrip.com,
The Shows on this first list are:
Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, Urinetown, Rent, Grease, Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Heathers, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, Shrek, Little Shop of Horrors, Addams Family, Bye Bye Birdie, and Seussical!
So, without further ado, here’s the list!

Welcome!
Hi!!
I'm Siobhan, I am a high school Junior and plan on majoring in musical theatre in college! I have always taken advantage of Tumblr blogs like “MTSheetmusic” and “Musical theatre Song recs” for repertoire and audition ideas when I'm completely stumped,  but with both of these blogs going inactive/reformatting,  I decided to fill an ever-present need. I have helped my friends with ideas a good bit, and have worked and helped with actors of all ages (6 years old, onward). I have done many performances,  including full-length musicals like The Music Man, Urinetown, Rent, and Les Miserables  (in rehearsal now), living in downtown Chicago. I want to make this blog to help you all however I can,  and hope I can make this an easy way to get audition ideas.
At the moment,  this is what I plan on doing consistently on this blog:
1. Song recommendations: I will publicly post almost everything,  as having a tag for certain shows, voice types,  etc has been really helpful for me in the past when I've been completely stumped for my own auditions. Yet,  if you are more comfortable sending me a DM or email ([email protected]), that's completely fine.  I will accept and answer anonymous asks.
2. Sheet music: I can get easy, free/cheap access to hundreds of thousands of pages of sheet music,  and I am happy to send it via email for free. I will also keep up a wish list of songs and scores I'm having trouble finding, in the hopes someone could possibly send it my way.  I want this to be an open community,  and it would be amazing if we could all help each other out.
3. Monologue database and Success Stories: For years I’ve been trying to find a good blog for monologue recommendations to no avail. I’ve always wanted to start one, but I do not see myself as well-versed enough to give really strong recommendations for the hundreds of types of people/auditions/roles you need a good monologue for. Instead, I’m kind-of stealing from “mtsheetmusic”, but adding my own twist. Looking through the thousands of plays and monologues out there is far too daunting for one person to take on, so why shouldn’t I take advantage of my lovely followers, so we can all help each other. If you have success using a specific monologue or song at an audition, post it! I will make a special page for everyone’s success stories (including some of my own/some my friends have told me about). Also, if you just happen to find a monologue you really like, send it my way! I will make a goal of reading through all of the monologues/plays, and will assign it certain tags (classic/contemporary, broad comedy/sarcastic/dramatic/?, age range, themes, types/characters it might work for, etc) to make it easy enough to search for. I will put all of the monologues on to this SPREADSHEET, so everyone can quickly page through and find what they need. I’ve already added a couple of my own favorites to start off, see you there!
4. Commonly Auditioned Roles: this is a page I’ve uploaded to start out. It features roles from about 20 shows that are very commonly performed, and is a good place to start looking for ideas. If you aren’t satisfied with any of the song options on that page, feel free to ask me for more. I will try updating this post every few months or so, and may come up with other ideas in that time, so it really helps me to see what roles are really in demand. I’ll link the post HERE.
5. My college journey: I am still in the early stages of my college search journey,  and seeing as I am the first in my family to apply to school for theatre,  I'm hoping those my year and younger than me could glean some solid information out of me discussing the process regularly, and those older could find amusement in all the missteps I'm guaranteed to make. Ask me anything about this,  I would love to talk with like minds.
6. Any other above/ask/whatever I think of later on. If you have anything you want me to do (Show Reviews, Makeup tutorials, Cast me’s) I will try and implement it as a special/regular feature of the blog at some point. I have my first SAT April 9, so until after that I want to start the blog kind of simple, and then add special things over time. But, if you ever have something you want to ask besides what I put above, just ask! Again, I want to take advantage of this medium to form a community here.
Ask me anytime, as I will be as diligent as possible with reading/responding to posts. I can generally find time throughout the day to respond, and I’ll make an effort to say if I won’t have consistent access to the internet, or will be extremely busy at a certain time as far in advance as possible.
Thanks in advance for visiting the blog!
Siobhan
