Quarantine has been rough. I’ve been social distancing for about two weeks now, so that makes this week my third. This morning I was bored and looking through Instagram and thinking about my art account on there— which I have forgotten the password to— and remembered this blog. It’s been a while and I don’t really have a platform just for posting my art, so I figured why not use this? This is a drawing in charcoal I did about a month ago, after BTS released their Kinetic Manifesto short film. I really liked this shot and just felt the urge to draw it, so I did.

art block is your brain telling you to do studies.

draw a still life. practice some poses. sketch some naked people. do a color study. try out a different technique on a basic shape.

art block doesnt stop you from drawing, it stops you from making your drawings look the way you want them to. and thats because you need to push your skills to the next level so you can preform at that standard

think of it as level grinding for your next work.

5:30am [August 2017] So there’s actually a story behind this. I was at my friends house and I woke up at 4:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I decided to watch the sun rise. After the sun rose though, I ended up falling asleep again.

Hey so I visited the Cornell campus the other day in Ithaca NY and I was disappointed to find out that they don't offer the courses I want to take, but I visited the book store there and I bought some water colors. They're Reeves water colours and I love them so much. They come in tubes similar to oil paints so you have more freedom with opacity. One problem I'm coming across is it's really hard to wash out of brushes, especially if they're white. Other than that they are beautiful and I've been using them a lot more than my other set. They were 13$, which isn't too bad. The set doesn't come with a brush, so you have to buy your own. Definitely would recommend.
