you had been mid-rant, jess fresh on break with a tea towel over his shoulder and hair tousled from the aftermath of mid-afternoon rush in luke’s café. when you had entered, the chaos of people leaving, jess breathed a sigh of relief and his uncle granted him his break.

you were talking about your long day at college – filled with dramatic students and unsympathetic professors, jess was sitting across from you, head perched on his palm staring at you.

“… i didn’t do one of the readings because i used that time to see you instead, god forbid i have a social life because he didn’t care… he just looked right at me and said that i should’ve known the answer.”

jess quirks a smile, a simple ‘how was your day?’ turning into a ramble that he didn’t dare interrupt. he knew you were interested in him, you just needed to offload and then you’d ask how his day was – even though his was significantly more boring than yours.

“anyways, i met paris for a bit during our free periods – she drove down and we grabbed some lunch. so that made me feel better, oh they had the best black coffee! paris loved it! i should take you sometime-”

you take notice into how jess is staring at you, your energy yields as you take it for boredom rather than admiration, the relationship was still fairly new in your defence.

“i would love that, baby,” jess replies.

your eyebrows furrow, your finger that previously runs across jess’ free palm stops. jess matches your expression, hand cupping yours with a small, “what’s just happened?” confused by the sudden silence and change of energy.

“no, sorry, was just rambling. i haven’t even asked you how your day was…” you trail off, looking down to your hands to avoid eye contact in case you might cry. jess tries to meet your gaze, head lobbing down, “it’s okay, i like listening to you talk.”

you look at him, eyes wide and confused, “you do?” jess’ heart throbs in his chest, unsure if you’ve been called out on being talkative or upbeat before, but a topic he’ll bring up another time. “’course, baby.”

your biting your lip anxiously, the need to kiss him very much sitting in your heart, if only you weren’t in the company of small-town eyes – babette sitting across the room. “how was your day?” you ask jess, smiling happily when he takes both your hands in his.

“alright, kirk saying this, dean annoying the living the hell outta me. but tell me more about the café. we could go on friday after your college class, yeah?”

you couldn’t help following your heart in leaning over and kissing jess, even if it was only for a few seconds.

you and charlie met one day in junior year. you were the shy girl that sat at the back of the class. charlie found that you had a mysterious grace around you, and he so desperately wanted to peel back the layers of your soul.

he had invited you to cinema club one day, and you just couldn’t say no to how welcoming he was to you. you weren’t used to people just coming up and striking up conversation with you, so you just gave him a little nod and went about your day. but you were seriously considering on taking up on his offer.

so that’s how you found yourself sitting by the window, listening to charlie and robbie talking about their upcoming stab-a-thon. you didn’t like the sound of that. a lot of people being gathered up in one place to watch, so that was exactly what you told him when he asked if you were coming.

he was disappointed at your answer, especially because he looked forward to seeing you outside of school, but he wasn’t willing to give up so easily. so on that friday night, he came over to your house with CDs, snacks, and everything you could imagine for a perfect movie night. he said that he didn’t want a girl like you being all alone on a night like this, so you let him in.

and that was how this became your annual tradition. charlie would come over and the two of you would go up to your room and watch all 7 stab movies back to back. you two would be snuggled up together, struggling to stay awake in each other’s arms.

you two would sloppily make out as the movie played in the background before slowly falling asleep. at school, you couldn’t help but be kind of awkward around eachother. you’d try to sneak quick little kisses before going separate ways for class. charlie would doodle little things that reminded him of you in his notebook.

you felt like he was the only person in the whole school who loved you for who you were. he loved every single part of you. you were the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and he knew how lucky he was being able to be your boyfriend.

you’d reunite with him at breaks, sneaking off to be alone until classes resumed. charlie would tell you all about his day, and you would happily listen to him. that was how your dynamic with him was, and you loved it. he was your other half. he’d tell you everything. except how he’d been planning to talk to you since the first day of freshman year.

hi sex witch, so I've been dating this guy and we're potentially gonna have sex for the first time on friday. we've fooled around before but havent done anything I would define as sex yet. I've only been in one sexual relationship previous and it wasnt great. we had sex a lot in the beginning but in retrospect we moved way too fast into territory I wasn't comfortable with but didnt know how to articulate (we were 17) and for the last two years of our relationship I was basically totally uninterested in sex. it's been three and a half years since then and I haven't had sex since (I still masturbate, just nothing partnered). my partner is wonderful and understanding and he's completely respected my boundaries and hasnt tried to pressure me into anything the whole time we've been together. I'm 24 now and I've been able to talk to him about what I'm worried about this time. like, extensively. he wants to wait until I'm ready, but has made it clear he wants it too. but my question is - how do I know if I'm ready?? I really want to have sex with him, but I wanted to in my last relationship initially too. I dont want the same thing to happen in this relationship where I outpace myself and then it backfires when I realize I went too fast, and then I psych myself out about it for a very long time. we've only been together for two months and I started out imagining it would take me much longer to be comfortable enough and ready enough to try sex again. so here's a thing about big decisions: you may never know if you're all the way ready unless you take the plunge and find out. all big decisions - quitting a job, making a cross-country move, emotionally investing in a new relationship - can have big, unforeseen consequences that we sometimes need to embrace without being able to actually know if we're completely, all the way ready for them. in many cases, it's impossible to know for sure.

here's a better question to ask: are you embarking on this decision with someone who you trust to support you if it doesn't go according to plan?

from the very little I know of your intended sexual partner, he sounds like a lovely person - patient, aware of your needs, more than happy to meet you where you're at. how wonderful! you say you've already told him extensively about your previous relationship and how it hurt you, so now it's time to start talking about the present and how to avoid that happening again.

discuss what kinds of check-ins the two of you can practice during intimacy to make sure you're feeling comfortable and safe, and how you'll set the speed of progress to keep it from becoming overwhelming. most importantly, discuss what you'll do if you do start feeling like you'd like to tap out. plan for safewords, taking breaks, what kind of support you'll need if you need to take a time out - would you prefer to be held, or not touched at all? and most importantly, set up a backup plan in case sex ends up being an absolute non-starter. it might not feel great to have to pull the plug, but a nice backup plan of watching a movie and ordering takeout means you'll still get to spend nice quality time together instead of sitting around in uncomfortable silence.

SO !! team starkid !! they r a group who writes & performs original musicals. these range from parodies like Twisted (Aladdin, but from Jafar's POV) to the thing theyre most known for- the Hatchetfield universe

Hatchetfield is the name of a town on a fictional island in Lake Michigan in which this series/these musicals take place. Within the Hatchetfield universe there is TGWDLM, Black Friday, and Nightmare Time. Everything in the Hatchetfield universe is best described as horror comedy, and it does get quite dark at times.

TGWDLM (which stands for The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals) is where I would recommend you start. It's the easiest for a new Starkid viewer to understand, is almost entirely self-contained (bonus lore from other content is FUN but not at all NEEDED or important to understanding anything). It tells the story of Paul, the titular Guy Who Doesn't Like Musicals, and what happens to him when a meteor crashes into Hatchetfield and causes everyone to start singing and dancing! I would honestly recommend it anyways just because it's a really fun watch regardless. Warnings: guns, character death, [fake] blood & guts, body horror, mind control. Also, a song near the beginning has very explicit (sexual) lyrics.

Black Friday is best viewed as a sequel to TGWDLM. It gets a little more into the lore and sets up more of the overarching world. I honestly like Black Friday better than TGWDLM, but it is also even darker & more lore-heavy. Also it can be confusing on your first watch. It follows various citizens trying to buy a new toy called a Wiggly for Christmas, and the subsequent events that causes. Warnings: death, [fake] blood (not a ton! Less than TGWDLM), what could easily be seen as mob mentalities/near mind control, guns, what could be seen as stalking/hunting people.

Nightmare Time is best seen as a series of podcasts/seperate "episodes." You can listen to just the audio if you want, you won't miss anything important (although the actors are AMAZING so I would definitely say watching it is worth it). There are two seasons, which have 3-4 episodes each. They elaborate a LOT on the lore/world of Hatchetfield. If you need individual tws, they should be in the video descs. I will warn you the Hatchetfield series is very dark. I love it and it is a LOT of fun though! Latte Hatte is the #4 cause of my homosexuality (/silly). also nb rep that i as a nb person very much enjoy!! also more of lauren lopez being iconic. also a KILLER theme song.

Also recommended outside of Hatchetfield are Trail to Oregon & Firebringer. I personally don't love the amount of toilet humor in Trail to Oregon, but it's still a fun musical and the acting is phenomenal as always. Firebringer has iconic songs, a HILARIOUS narrator character, leabians, and Lauren Lopez as the lead. there is literally nothing more you could ask for. it's perfect. Gods I love Lauren Lopez she's so iconic.

it's been a while since he's taken you on a date, and it just so happens to be at a friday afternoon after your work/school and his work hours

usually he's the first one to arrive, but you show up first, and you didnt think much of it, he could be caught up with dazai again

aaaaand its been 30 mins and he hasnt shown up so you order something and decide to wait for him more, you know his work and how it can be.... weird... at times

you've finished your food by the time the sky turns dark and the cafe slowly loses its customers as its almost abt to close

its not tht late, probably around 7 pm, you lost track of time anyway

you were sad, but also confused because atsushi, the atsushi nakajima, had stood you up. out of all people?

since you dont wanna be kicked out by the employees, you left by yourself, leaving a tip for ur waitress who so kindly gave you an extra drink ("hey, i saw you kinda sad, so its on the house.")

on your way back home, you saw atsushi running towards you with a tired expression

"atsu? are you okay?" you worry abt his appearance, his shirt sleeves ripped up to his biceps and pants also ripped

"you're worrying abt me when im 3 hours late to our date? :("

"of course i am, who cares abt the date?? are you okay, are you injured?" even if you were bummed out abt the date, his well being came first to you, which made atsushi lowk tear up

he pulls you into a hug and keeps apologizing for being late, saying he'll make it up to you and whatnot but ur here fussing because he won't let you tend to him

y'all ended up watching a movie at home after he reluctantly let you patch him up and feed him

hes so happy tht you weren't mad at him like fr he was like "what if she hates me? what if she thinks im cheating?" on the way to the coffee shop 😔 my poor baby

i keep using naomi as his excuse but i really cant think of any other thing that can keep him away

naomi probably needed help for a project in school, so he left a bit earlier to go to help her in the library.

u imagined him setting up a cute little blanket with fairy lights and candles like omg so romantic

so u were sooo excited !! u sent him a quick text saying that ure getting ready and u got up to heat up the food u both prepared the night before

with the basket in hand u walked to the park where u planned to set up

aaaand he wasnt there, like nothing

there were no fairy lights, no blanket, no candles, nothing

poor u, u thought he would already be setting up the date :((

“oh... thank you, atsushi. i was just looking for him..”

“have you tried calling him?”

“yeah but i think he has his phone turned off...”

what are ur speculations on the next season? i hope they stop with the continuous serial episodes bc it feels like it hasnt been the same since like season 17? but it seems like its gonna continue in that direction

Tbh, I feel the exact same way. What I want to happen probably isn’t what’s actually going to happen, unfortunately. :(

For speculation; you’re right that the specials all being closely tied to one another indicates more continuous serial episodes in the future, and I also really hate the concept of that. I think it’s really amazing every once in a while - Imaginationland, the Mysterion trilogy, and the Black Friday trilogy all come to mind - but this trend of constant callbacks and continuities is getting really obnoxious. It’s even worse when Matt and Trey try to tie current events into it, which they’ve been doing over the past few seasons even before COVID, and if I went the rest of my life without hearing more of their Enlightened Takes on current politics, it would still be too soon. The other day I was watching W.T.F., and the entire time I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I missed that kind of episodes. It’s expected that M + T couldn’t keep going with fresh individual ideas forever, but each episode just being another way to bash the complete ridiculousness of the U.S. political system into our heads feels lazy and unnecessary. Unfortunately, I’m fully aware of what an embarrassing disaster it is. I would love if this was the last special/episode directly relating back to COVID or current US politics, other than a few jokes about it from time to time, but Matt and Trey have been milking those things for all they’re worth, and I doubt they’re going to let up anytime soon. Chances are that we’re going to be dealing with continuous episodes for quite a while, even though I really hope I’m wrong!

As for what I actually want to happen; I kind of described it in the previous paragraph, but I’m so desperate for some episodes reminiscent of the earlier ones. I’ve mentioned before that The Wacky Molestation Adventure is one of my favorite episodes of all time, and I would absolutely love if they started making episodes with a similar theme; that theme being something more kiddish and fresh, ideally in a solo episode, while still maintaining the insane charm of South Park. I’ve definitely started to think that as Matt and Trey have gotten older, they’ve started to center the adults more than the kids, and I really hope they somehow manage to reverse that trend and bring the themes of the early episodes back. I really did enjoy seeing everyone as adults, and I’d be fine with them continuing that to some extent, but I’m always going to love seeing them as kids most of all. That’s what really makes South Park unique.

hi pal!! im sorry it's been a while since you've heard from me - this week got super busy with school & work and i've just been exhausted haha. yay for it being friday now! im bummed that the 2nd message i sent you last time didn't go through but at least i noticed and sent you a summary! how sad would it have been otherwise if you just got the first one sdfsfsdf why is tumblr the worst. I don't have tattoos so honestly im totally unqualified to be writing this au HAHA (1/?)

but i got so excited about the au that i wanted to go for it anyways! and i did watch a lot of tattoo related youtube videos haha. you're spot on about the fic being angsty but im reaching the end now so i'll be writing a lottt of fluff coming up hahaha. i'm so indecisive that im scared of the commitment of getting a tattoo more than the tattoo-getting process itself. but i guess im also sort of a baby when it comes to pain so there's multiple reasons lol! oooh halfway through is GREAT progress on your big bang! thats awesome! you've definitely got this. I have posted some other fics! i had to go check my ao3 to remember haha but ive got 9 works posted :) i've def been around for a while but only really gotten into writing later on. I think i officially joined the fandom in like...2012? wow, that feels like SO long ago now that i'm thinking back on it hahaha. eep! what about you? tbh i think having gotten into fic and writing is one of the main reasons im still around. im a TA too! thats so cool haha! this week is our last week of classes and finals are next week so its been sort of crazy. i taught my last class of the quarter on wed and its so weird to be done. this was my first time ever TAing but i really loved it! how has ur experience TAing been?? im in a phd program in biology/computer science (like sort of combining the two?) so thats what im studying! winter break is coming but i'll still have to work in my research lab, so its not much of a break but i wont have teaching or classes and plus i'll get a real break during christmas & new years! we're locked down again too but our rules for this time's lockdown have been very vague and confusing dsfsdfsd. but officially yes, same here! ive been in the habit of staying in anyways so it hasnt affected me too much hahaha. anyways that was a ton of messages but maybe that helps make up for being gone for a bit too? hope you're doing well & happy friday! any weekend plans? take care! -S xx

Yeah! I used to work on a contract to contract basis, but now I have a steady job, the switch to drivetime hasnt been fun. i can listen on mondays since that's my only day off, but t-th is a no-go. I do feel a lot better emotionally! im still sore tho :/ plus uhhh. one of the pharmacists at work was kind enough to let me have one of the prescription strength painkillers, so that helped. thank u for being so supportive and i wish i didn't forget my login so i could send u all the love off anon
