This is the shortened version of Caroline's overall backstory! She isn't as expressionless nor quiet as she first appears to be. Due to survivors guilt, Caroline developed a rather severe case of selective mutism as a trauma response caused by her younger selfs immature behavior. She's quite a caring sweetheart overall, whose heart belongs to her family and the pack, and as a native american werewolf girl, there's nothing more that she values more than the bond, tradition, and loyalty of her loved ones.

Caroline comes from a long line of loving athabaskan werewolves within Blackwood, Alaska and was among her childhood friend, Blake Adams, one of the only children within the pack at the time. The Ferreira passed down the alpha role among their kin for six generations now, with the Adams acting as their betas, confidants and aides for at least three generations. They've supported each other throughout many hardships, the brutal blood moon tragedy being one of the more notable ones.

Caroline grew up timid by nature despite the close community and always clung onto people she was comfortable with. On the other hand, and very similarly to her mother, she was also known to be bright and cheeky; the type to wear her heart on her sleeve, with all of her words always coming from the heart. That trait of hers hasn’t changed even as she progressed into adulthood.

Caroline would later on not only lose her best friend, but also her mother to a hunter. The unfortunate timing of young Caroline running away and throwing one of her temper tantrums—caused by not being old enough to accompany her father on hunting duty—alarmed a huntsman to her whereabouts. Her mother chased after her daughter, seeing no choice but to find shelter whilst they were within their wolf forms. After the ill-fated moment of seeing her parent's life pass away before her eyes, and almost losing her own however, it was only due to her father arriving in time that Caroline had survived.

Her chipped earlobe became a constant rueful reminder of this encounter, and as Caroline watched the remains of her mother turn into ash, it would mark the start of her selective mutism and her path as the pack’s designated caretaker to take over her late mother’s role at only twelve years.

Despite everything, the well-being of everyone, including her father and young brother, always came first. No matter what.

And that's where Julie Plec's hate for Kat Graham comes from. Excluding Matt Davis, All the boys loved her. Ian, Paul, the 2 Michael's, Stephen, Chris Wood, Joseph, some of the cast from the Originals. They all wanted to work with her in some capacity. I remember Paul especially. Kat Graham had chemistry with everyone. To the point that any time one of the guys had a scene with her, they always "felt" something. And I know Julie and Caroline Dries hated that so much. Also Kat is a really great all around actress in comparison to Nina, who played a better Katherine than Elena. It's sad how I can't watch that show either because of how badly they tortured the character Bonnie. I would have to pick and choose certain episodes to watch only.

Kathleen: She loves Fall in Brindleton Bay! She prefers cooler weather and loves the trees when they change colours. She loves curling up with a book and a cup of tea on the back porch ☕️ Owen: Winter! Sure, the Christmas market in Windenburg is beautiful, but he loves Winterfest the most. He gets to be with his sisters, friends and Isla - his favourite people. Caroline: Summers in San Myshuno are so fun! Sunday afternoons at the flea market, grabbing a drink at the rooftop lounge after work with her friends - she loves being around her people when the weather is warm! Elizabeth: Spring in Mt. Komorebi! Lizzy loves it when the Cherry blossoms bloom. After living in Del Sol Valley, being closer to nature has given her a lot of peace.

🍒 [CHERRY] Who is your OC's perfect companion?

Kathleen: Her fiancee Will! He is the reason she started to believe in love again Owen: His long-time girlfriend, Isla! Owen can be super rough around the edges - Isla not only softens him, but she encourages him to take better care of himself. Owen also loves his best friends, Nate Ballard and Ben Conley. Caroline: To be honest, she doesn't know. She really loved her ex - she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him! All it took was for him to say one thing that started the downfall of their relationship... For now, she's spending a lot more time with her friends. Elizabeth: She's still young, so she is still figuring out what healthy companionship looks like to her. All she knows is that she wants a partner who will ground her. Currently, she is leaning on her childhood best friend, Lily Weston for support as she begins her master's degree and teaches ballet.

julie plec & co. will pay for the crimes they put kat graham/bonnie bennett through. there should be no way one of the main lead actors 'the ian guy' threatened to quit alongside kat for that woman to stay.

alaric ass should have stayed dead. the first time he died, they should have left his ass in the casket. cause when they brought him back, he didn't add nothing to plot. just was there wasting screentime

bonnie's lack of love interests compared to elena and caroline was insulting, and i felt like the writers tried to deem bonnie as undesirable. when it's interviews of plenty of the tvd and the original male cast members admitting that they would love to have been bonnie's love interest. plus kat graham fine as hell soooo

i know hayley technically apart of the original squad..but hell they in the same tvd universe....i did not care about her and her hybrid ass baby.

Hi! I wanted to ask you what translations of both the Iliad and the Odyssey you'd recommend for first time readers? You're one of the most interesting blogs on my dash, and I've been pushing me to pick them up.

thank you! i get this question somewhat often (not that i mind at all!) and my answer has been fairly consistent: for the odyssey, i think emily wilson's is the most accessible and readable to first-timers. (i'm currently rereading it myself, so you'll probably hear a fair amount in the coming weeks.)

i've only read one translation of the iliad. ennis rees is what thriftbooks shipped to me by mistake and i had already been through an ordeal at that point so i just accepted it. as far as i recall, it was perfectly serviceable, but i've never heard anyone else recommend it. i've heard caroline alexander's is good and fagles seems to be fairly standard when it's read in school. emily wilson is coming out with one in september, so if you read her odyssey translation and find it accessible, that might be worth looking into — depending on how fast you read, the timing might work out nicely. i'm planning to pick it up when i feel like reading the iliad again.

☕️ + Caroline's love interests

-Matt: -10/10. I might be softer on him now than when I had to put up with their relationship but. nope. terrible. that relationship was designed to make Caroline into Elena's "inferior" (which is why it was dropped when that stopped being the intention). therefore I hate it, and I will forever hate it.

-Tyler: 8/10. he's objectively the best guy among these lol, and it's the ship that I feel most emotional about, but I'm deducting points because 1.) although he's obviously several steps up from Matt, it was still a romance that fit a second-tier character and I wanted Caroline to jump that barrier, and 2.) certain personality incompatibilities, much as it pains me.

-Klaus: 8.75/10. the narrative boost it gave her was. woah. but her lack of SUPER. INTENSE. LOVEY-DOVEY. FEELINGS (fight me) do take away from it, for me.

-Jesse: 7/10. obviously he couldn't have been more than a temporary love interest so I can't rate him higher, but. he WAS beeeeeeautiful. the wasted potential for a vamp mentor-mentee dynamic still makes me sad.

-Enzo: 1/10. barring a couple of face-palming worthy fun lines it was. bad and boring and cheap.

-Stefan: 8.5/10. gr10 prize of war for her LOL. and season 6 was wonderful. and there are plenty super intense lovey-dovey feelings on her part here lol. deducing some points because he IS steffie and the writing was really zzzzzzzzzz in season 7.

-Liam: 5/10. it was a fun romp lol. I enjoyed it for what it was.

-Alaric: 3/10. the YIKES factor was strong but frankly? Alaric now being unrequitedly devoted to Caroline doesn't exactly bother me as long as she doesn't have to give anything in return LOL. this would've been the ideal set-up for DE if only Elena could've pulled it off...

First times

Steroline- both had their humanities off and while I love a good dark ship storyline, the fact that Caroline forced Stefan to shut it off KNOWING his past as a ripper doesn’t sit right with me (idc if hers was off, no humanity doesn’t equal no free will)

Klaroline- Klaus says he’ll leave her alone if she “gives into her desire” and that scene just having Klaus fumble with her top while he’s just porking her full clothed. Plus while the concept of tree sex is intriguing, there are also tons of ants on bark, you could get a rash, etc. (In my forwood drabble, I actually included that part too)

Forwood- Were both friends and just having fun. Tyler never once made a move on Caroline after she turned him down and even said that he would only make a move if she wants to as well and if not, he’ll move on.

Despite his faults, Ian was a true ride or die for Kat til the bitter end. One thing I can say about Ian is that unlike Grant, he was very, verrrry vocal and had the balls to stand by his girl against that South Park Sally Struthers lookin' bitch. They are still really close, but are more low key these days. Also Kat is flourishing and stays booked and busy. I think for most part, the main cast are still friends with the exception of the dude that played Alaric. I remember when all the guys wanted to have more scenes with Kat because she had chemistry with everyone. She was charismatic on and off camera which I know made both Caroline Dries & Julie Plec's blood boil.
