FAMILY, OF SORTS. — in which kafka, blade, and silver wolf are an odd but quite special found family to be a part of.
Tumblr media
— trigger & content warnings. mentions of unspecified injury.
— pairings & notes. fluff, found family. kafka & teen!reader, blade & teen!reader, silver wolf & teen!reader. 1.3k words. reader is a stellaron hunter. reader is gender neutral (they/them pronouns used).
— author's notes. the sillies <3 APHE POSTING???? APHELION POSTING REAL AND TRUE????????? i had a request for this on my old blog (from my dear beloved moot @starryshinyskies <3) so i decided to finish it 💪 nd tagging @www-brontide since i know you were excited for this post HEHE anyways how are we feeling about this formatting? if you guys don't like it i'm very open to changing it back. i'm just experimenting with my post format is all 🫶
Tumblr media
kafka seems strangely motherly to me. caring and doting in her own unique ways, but also quite strange and odd in those same ways. an enigma of sorts.
she is the kind of person to always send the stellaron hunters' youngest member texts throughout the day; these texts range anywhere from silly and inconsequential to sweet messages letting [name] know that she was thinking about them.
(her doting nature is not dissimilar to how she thinks of and regards the trailblazer... hm.)
KAFKA
My coat got stained again :(
Won't you help me clean it when you get home, little one?
[ 1:22 PM ]
KAFKA
I saw a new movie today.
It made me think of you. It was quite to your tastes.
Perhaps we should go see it together sometime, hm?
Ah, but you're probably asleep by now...
That's fine. You do need it more than the rest of us.
Sleep well, darling.
[ 11:34 PM ]
she thinks of her little one quite frequently and has been known to pick up little trinkets from different planets that reminded her of them. a phone charm, a set of rings, something more practical like a new weapon... she once returned with a nice coat that matches one of hers. her gifts are always unpredictable but nonetheless very thoughtful.
and when or if they get injured, she is the one who treats their wound(s) with a tender hand.
she does chide them, however.
"you are a stellaron hunter, little one," she reminds, pulling the bandages wrapped around their wound a little tighter, making them wince. it is akin to a slap on the wrist—not enough pain to seriously harm them, but enough to force them to take her words to heart. "if it is not a part of the plan, try your best not to get caught or injured, hm? silver wolf doesn't like to see you this way, and it causes a unique stir in bladie. your getting injured causes quite the unrest among us all! do be more careful next time."
if there is ever a night during which they are struggling to sleep, they are more than welcome to seek out kafka's company.
she would be willing to read them to sleep, if that is what they desired.
however... a far easier method that would ensure they would stay asleep? her spirit whisper ability, of course.
they know kafka would not use it to harm them.
kafka finds their earnest trust beyond endearing. the trust of a little one like them is quite an important gift! the least she can do, she thinks, is assist them when her assistance is needed.
and sometimes, that just means lulling them to sleep.
blade is quite a difficult person to read, regardless of whether he intends to be so or not.
some days, he is distant and prefers to keep to himself. others, less so.
this, though, should not be mistaken for a lack of care. in fact, he cares quite deeply. his care is simply very quiet and he desperately, earnestly, truly does not wish to cause [name] harm.
he is also most likely the one who spars with them and trains them in the ways of combat, which... he isn't exactly the gentlest at doing. training sessions can be quite frustrating in that they often emerge sore and with new cuts and bruises (but really, these injuries are small and insignificant; they are confident in saying that blade would never truly hurt them, nobody in their family would). he does mean well in his tough methods, though.
the universe is not kind or gentle. it will never treat them that way. therefore, he does his best to prepare them so that they can effectively handle the universe's cruelty and defend themselves from it.
one of the ways in which his quiet care manifests is through his treatment of the small wounds he gives them during training. kafka has said many times that she can treat them, but blade always insists on doing it himself.
out of all of their coworkers, blade becomes the most restless when they're away. he gets particularly antsy when they've been gone for a long period or when they're out there alone. kafka always giggles and points out to him how utterly restless he becomes when such circumstances occur.
(he should be assured that they can handle themselves, given that he is their mentor—there is surely nobody else who would know their skills as well as he would—but somehow he simply isn't.)
blade is also, generally speaking, the most protective.
should they come back injured... if it is anything other than a shallow scratch on the cheek, a rage hotter than the brightest star burns under his skin. in those moments, he almost does not dare to touch them, for fear that he might harm them unwittingly... but he does. his hands are somewhat rough when he snatches their face and tilts their chin around to get a better look at the blood (is it theirs? he hopes not) and grime dirtying their face. there is a terrifying threat present in his voice when he demands, not asks, "who did this to you?"
(if kafka was not present in these moments, he might worry that his mara would get the best of him. thankfully, kafka is intentional and present in such situations.)
unless the ones responsible for the wound have already been adequately... taken care of, he will do so himself. there is nowhere in the universe that the perpetrators could hide from him.
it's about protecting them, but it is also about sending a message.
something along the lines of "anyone who lays hands on them will suffer a fate worse than death," perhaps.
death is anything but a terrible fate to blade, but he knows that it is the worst imaginable to some. he will be certain to deliver something infinitely worse, something beyond imagination, to those daring to hurt his younger teammate.
silver wolf is perhaps the least enigmatic of their little family. she isn't an open book, per se, but she's easier to read than kafka or blade... at least, for someone like [name], anyway.
she never fails to harrass them to play a few rounds (which tends to spiral into many, many rounds...) of a game or two with her. why them, specifically? she insists that blade isn't good at them and kafka is kafka. really, it may very well just be that she enjoys spending time with them, but she—of course—will not simply say that.
however... she bullies them terribly about how bad they are. it comes from a place of affection!
she is also the type to win them every single prize at carnivals, just because she likes the joy it seems to bring them. when she encounters rigged games, however, she becomes all the more motivated by her unadulterated annoyance to beat them.
what do you mean she of all people can't beat this awful and horrible rigged game? her???? the silver wolf????? seriously????????
unfortunately, it does not always end in her victory, even when she is infinitely motivated by her anger.
...and she really isn't above just taking one of the prizes when the stall's owner isn't looking. she has done so multiple times for [name].
she would definitely try to teach them hacking (keyword: try) if they aren't already familiar with it. since it has come in handy for her, she figures that they might also find use in it. it's her quiet way of looking out for them.
(her more obvious way of looking out for them is often seen when she is on missions with them. most commonly, it manifests as her snatching their arm and pulling them out of the way of an enemy before obliterating said threat.)
silver wolf is totally the sort of person to pinch their cheeks (to different degrees, kafka and blade also do this!). they are very cute to her.
overall they are a weird but very special little family to be a part of <3
please consider supporting your writers by reblogging and leaving a kind tag or comment. it really helps me out!

i’ve been ia for a few months but i came back to say that ein being zack’s creation makes sm more sense because:
1. it gives him good story potential. “creation that’s abandoned by its very creator after not living up to their expectations” is 10x more interesting than whatever the canon has to go for
2. it explains why no one figured out he and aph were related in some way; he has no trace of zack’s dna
3. it would make more sense as to why zack treated him so differently. in zack’s eyes, the kid is a monster, and not human nonetheless.
4. his whole association to michael makes more sense; michael would be the only figure of authority he has, supposedly giving him what he’s longed for (power).
there’s probably more but i can’t think of much atm

Hehehehe, listen to the voices aph >:3
Alright so is it okay for me to add some small stuff to my request? (It's stuff I deliberately didn't add out of fear of limiting your creativity with it being too detailed, you can choose to not follow the stuff I say here if you want)
So about Cocolia, we all know she had been listening to the Stellaron and obviously the reader knew of the existence of the stellaron and their hold on the Supreme Guardians (also they know that their adopted mom was the one who made the eternal freeze via Stellaron bc I feel like maybe the guilt for causing it had been eating her alive since she became the supreme guardian, so she told her child when they got older) Bc of this, Cocolia planned to assassinate the reader bc they would realize she had finally fallen to the Stellaron's words and she could actually do this bc no one would know or care about the reader’s disappearance bc so few little people know of their true origin and duty. She could just simply make an excuse about their absence for those who don't know and quiet those who do know with something..?
So the assassination happened and if it weren't for the regenerative capabilities that their species have, the reader really would have definitely died but they didn't (but their trust would). Around that time, with no advisor to watch her, Cocolia enacted the decree to separate the Overworld and the Underworld thing. So using this to their advantage, the reader quickly go to the underworld to hide from Cocolia and stay low until they can make a plan to stop Cocolia. And this is also how the reader got to know the characters in the underworld
About fighting Cocolia that you mentioned, they would definitely join the the trailblazers and Seele to the final battle and I imagine them take control of the Engine of Creation bc like they have been in Jarilo-VI since the antimatter legion first invaded and the Engine of Creation is something that the supreme guardian had made for a much greater purpose for the future, so wouldn't it be fitting that the reader would take control of it and help the battle that way? And besides they used to be part of the hunt and even though they now follow the preservation, some part of them wants to beat the everliving shit that is the Stellaron out of Cocolia.
Also can you imagine their surprise about the debt with the IPC when that time comes? Like they were aware that the IPC might do something now Jarilo-VI has started to reach out with the help of the Nameless (and also their dad was one of those investors..) but WTF why was it so big?! I can definitely see them either having a long debate with Topaz or instantly trusting her due to her connection to the IPC and their dad was part of the IPC but idk..
Also for the Mama Xianyun kid, i think [name] would either have Pyro or Electro vision because (note this is stuff I took from tv tropes bc it's reasonings are something I agree with) For Pyro, Pyro characters have a great singular passion (like Amber's duty as an Outrider, Bennett's love for adventuring, Xiangling's talent for cooking, Klee's love of explosives, etc) They are also associated with personality individualism, representing how their quirks are often seen as weird by many people. For Electro, Electro characters are either outcasts or actively choose to be different. (Like Lisa refuses to be promoted to a higher position, Beidou is a pirate who constantly butts heads with the law, Keqing wants her people to stand on their own two feet instead of being looked after by Archons, Fischl grew up without friends, etc) They are also associated closely with their desire in life, representing how all of them got their powers because of their respective desires shapeing them into the person they are now. Those are my ideas but choose whichever element you want!
So yeah.. welp that’s it for now, hope you have a good day/night’

YOU!!!!!
your requests always FUCK, i LOVE your ideas, i am KISSING YOU ON THE FOREHEAD (IF YOU CONSENT TO THAT)!!!!!!!! i am going to write SUCH A FIC ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
i think alisa would have felt guilty--she was just trying to protect the planet. she didn't know better. she just... did what she could at the time, and the only thing she could do to fend off the destruction was one-up the legion with whatever resources she had. unfortunately, "resources" would mean the stellaron. and i think, near the end of her life, she would tell them the truth and express her sorrow for what she had done. [name], as a a xianzhou native, would only be STARTING their long life by the time she was dying; they'd be like, 60 or 70 but still look like a kid. and she would feel as if she shouldn't dump all this on them, but... well. she also knows that [name] is not like her. and they're probably just as mature as she is, if not moreso. but she knows that she cannot lie to them. she knows that the stellaron is shitty news. and, maybe... maybe she knows it will cause further calamity in the future, the future that they will be alive for. so, she cannot lie. she does not want one of her beloved children--because even if they aren't hers by blood, they are hers, and they will always be hers--to feel lied to or betrayed.
onto cocolia's fucking assassination attempt (which btw i LOVE this idea. i think cocolia wouldn't quite understand what they are, since jarilo-vi would have been cut off from the rest of the universe for hundreds of years atp; she would not understand how hard it is to kill what the abundance created--hell, she wouldn't even know where their immortality came from. she would just know that they knew too much and needed to be eliminated):
she knocks them out cold somehow, believing that she has killed them, and dumps their body out in the eternal freeze where no-one would dare to look for them. except... they aren't dead, and when they wake up, they're furious. so much so that they have to remind themselves to calm down, lest their mara flare up, which is what would ACTUALLY "kill" them.
and they're just... beyond heartbroken to find out what she has done. so, they slip underground. the above world does not need them. cocolia does not need them (they would get along SO well with serval after this shit fr. i imagine they got along with her very well before too, but now they and serval have a more intimate understanding of one another).
OHHH YEAH THE ENGINE OF CREATION WOULD SO JUST...... BEND TO THEIR WILL SO EASILY. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY THINK THEY WOULD KNOW HOW TO CONTROL IT SO WELL. they've been on jarilo-vi for so long atp, they probably know the planet far better than cocolia herself.
their path alignment has long since changed to preservation, but the hunt still burns deep within their blood. and in that moment? they are hunting her ass down. fuck preservation. they murmur a quick prayer to the aeon lan, and return to their roots.
they know it isn't completely her fault, but...
it's hard not to be pissed.
sooo many thoughts about this concept 🐱 anon......... *head in hands* the VOICESSSSSSS. i love this so much, please feel free to send any additions. you are not limiting my creativity, you are perpetuating it HAHA <3
OH PYRO WOULD BE SO CUTE give the chaos child fire, what could go wrong? /lh but really... i think there would be something very endearing about the contrast between them, their big sisters, and yaoyao. they, who wield pyro. their sisters, who wield cryo. yaoyao, who wields dendro. those elements don't mix well with pyro, but somehow, [name] fits perfectly together with these people. different sides of the same coin. pyro [name]......

No because now I’m thinking more about Aph and Heph renovating a house and-
Aphrodite in a t-shirt and overalls, work boots a size too large, a bright orange hard hat, clear protection glasses, her hair in a loose braid, some dirt and sawdust on her cheeks. In one hand she has her Starbucks refresher and in the other she has a hammer that she painted pink and bedazzled.
Heph takes one look at her and can’t stop staring.
“I’m ready!” she says, eyes big and excited.
“To?”
“To help!”
So of course he has to let her help, and watching her focus on beating a nail into wood is somehow the cutest sight ever and he can’t stop smiling at how hard she’s trying to be involved in the building process — she’s quite good at the tearing down part — because she’s just so adorable.
And she’s practically bouncing up and down when the new owners see the house because she’s been waiting to be able to point to one specific wall and proudly say “I made that wall!” and Heph doesn’t have the heart to tell her that he’d had to go back to the spot and redo all her work.
Anyways, he’d tried and failed to help with the rooms’ decor and color schemes when she sat him down to discuss the interior design. He knows their strengths are different but complimentary. Creation and beauty collaborated. All that burns in the back of his mind is painting the dining room with her and playfully getting some paint on her nose, so of course she had to retaliate, and to her, the equivalent was getting Arial View blue in his beard — gods knew it took forever to wash that out….

Hey so with Fanfest coming up in a couple weeks I figured I should post the ideas that I've been tossing around inside my head for a while before it gets shot down. The image is mostly quick sketches/proof of concepts that I've coloured a lil but they're not polished or super clean. But I'll also just talk a lil about the basics of their lore and mechanics, both flavour and how they'd actually play. All the weapons are the Padjali weapons bc this was meant to be quick and dirty, all info under the Readmore!
-----
Time Battlemage (TBM) - Represented here by a female Duskwight Role: Tank Weapons: Hammers, Clubs, and Maces Limit Break: Temporal Equilibrium Culture of Origin: Sharlyan
Lore: A recent Sharlyan discovery, Time Battlemages came about with the rediscovery of Time Magic, works by magi such as the famous Quan that were formerly lost to history. However, as raw time magic is so dangerous, the Sharlyan scholars and sages figured its best application in combat would be as a supplement rather than a primary focus, so they started training regiments of magic knights, using their time magic to boost their speed despite their heavier gear. To take full advantage of this, TBMs use the large, blunt, and heavy hammers and clubs, partially due to how similar they feel to some of the staves of conjurers and thaumaturges, but also because of how time magic can be used on them, speeding them up to keep their raw bludgeoning power without leaving many major openings during combat. Some TBM weapons even have timekeeping devices such as clocks, sundials, and hourglasses incorporated into their design, which helps a TBM focus and channel their magic through their weapon.
Mechanics: The weakest tank in terms of raw damage output, similar to a Warrior's level, however, it empowers itself with many buffs and can spread them throughout the party, and focuses on using debuffs on the enemy for damage mitigation. It builds up Haste stacks through attacking, which help lower the TBM's GCD and everyone in an area around the TBM autoattacks faster. The TBM can also consume these Haste stacks in order to fuel both OGCD offensive and defensive abilities. The TBN's Invincibility ability involves them taking all damage until they hit 0, but then all attacks after that point restoring health as they "reverse" all the incoming damage.
Extra fluff: The teeth on the metal armour is based on both the teeth of gears, incorporating a timekeeping theme into it, but also on the tops of castle turrets to bring in a bit of an Alexander reference. Their armour is lighter than other tanks, but the colour scheme and pointed hat is supposed to invoke the classic Time Mage aesthetic.
-----
Apothecary (APH) - Represented here by a male Dunesfolk Role: Healer Weapons: Censers and Lanterns Limit Break: Requiem Culture of Origin: Ishgard
Lore: Both during and after the end of the many wars that dot Eorzea's history, the most efficient healers on the battlefield tended to use aether, which left their numbers somewhat limited and many medics frustrated that they were left in the dust. Understanding, but still frustrated. A small group of chirurgeons with minimal ability for aetheric manipulation banded together, their combined knowledge of alchemy and medicine intertwining with each other created a new job, perfect for those with little requirement of personal aether, yet still requiring the skills and trained hands of a medical professional. Apothecaries use herbs and incense that are placed in a charged censer, which they swing around to spread the smoke and vapors to reinvigorate allies, and smoke bombs to launch their medicines even further. Their skills in alchemy have also allowed them to create toxic fumes and gasses to debilitate and disrupt foes, as well as hide allies within their thick fogs. Soon after its creation, some conjurers and other magical healers picked up the art, finding it just as efficient as their own prior job, and even helping create some new vapors such as one that can rapidly restore aether to an individual. However, the difference between an APH with shallow or deep aetheric reserves is inconsequential, both will last a battle with minimal difference in resources, and the job ended up being a great equaliser for field medics across Eorzea.
Mechanics: A pure healer with a greater focus on DoTs and HoTs than direct damage and healing. Most of their abilities affect a wide area, and for some of them, the distance to the centre of the ability zone determines the effectiveness of their damage or healing. They also have an ability that can provide damage reduction for allies "hiding" in the smoke, and another ability that rapidly restores personal MP. As they do constant ticks of damage or healing, they build up a resource, which they can spend on greater direct damage, big heals, small shields, or, for their big two minute ability, a combination of all three.
Extra fluff: Obviously based on Chemists from previous entries. I initially had the idea of them using a crossbow as a slingshot to launch their potions, but hearing articles about how MCH used to be a potion slinging healer and that not working out, plus how SGE apparently used to be closer to a chemist conceptually but they spent months iterating on it, I figured to steer away from a more offensive looking weapon for my take on the job.
-----
Tyrant (TYR) - Represented here by a female Xaela Role: Melee DPS (Scouting) Weapons: Whips, Chains, and Flails Limit Break: Nine Tales Culture of Origin: Unknown
Lore: Tyrants take on their names with pride, even if it was thrown at them in scorn. Primarily consisting of nomads and wanderers, the precursors to the Tyrants found themselves constantly under attack by bandits and poachers who wished to harm the lands they lived on. They discovered that through giving the land their blood, the land would often give back, granting great strength and power to channel the land's fury through them. As such, they self flagellate, sacrificing their own physical self to defend both themselves and the place they call home. This terrifying form of magic has given them the title of Tyrant, as they appear to dominate and subjugate all that cross their path, even if it comes from a desire to protect the planet. They use their whips and chains to continuously strike down their foes nomatter how fast they try to run, and they often have barbs and thorns to increase pain to themselves and their opponents. TYRs are masters of using their strange art and terrifying presence to try and make the world a better place, even if it is as pariahs.
Mechanics: Tyrants are a dexterous job, using their weapon to keep a greater distance away from their target than most other melees. This is helpful as their main mechanic is using 10% of their current HP to get strong buffs to their attacks, such as a raw damage increase, a GCD cooldown reduction, or even the ability to apply a DoT. Each boosted ability has an HP drain effect attached to it, meaning a Tyrant doesn't lose their HP for long, especially when combined with a Bloodbath. The more HP that is drained by activating their various power up, the longer the buff lasts. Tyrants also gain a resource by attacking while powered up, effectively draining an opponent's blood in order to build up to powerful team wide buffs and defensive abilities, such as increasing movement and autoattack speed or applying shields and a small heal. They also have great mobility, using their weapon to bring themselves closer to a target or to spin out of the way like a beyblade.
Extra fluff: One of the weaker job ideas I have. Originally they were meant to be far more leather dominatrix vibes in appearance, but I figured making them into a forest warden/ranger could be a more creative take on the idea, especially given to the evolution of the Hunter job mentioned below. They were originally supposed to purely rely on blood magic but I figured a darker path to a Conjurer might also be fascinating, focusing more on a Druidic nature aspect as opposed to the natural elements, which will mostly be filled by the Geomancer below.
-----
Geomancer (GEO) - Represented here by a male Rava Role: Magic DPS Weapons: Bells Limit Break: Nature's Wrath Culture of Origin: Othard
Lore: As Astrologians focus on the star above, Geomancers focus on the star below. An old Othardian art that focuses on divining the health of the land by using the terrestrial elements of earth, wind, and water. Unlike Astrologians, they have a much more aggressive approach to dealing with impurities and evil forces, by using the elements of nature to purge them from this plane. They used to be a celebrated part of Othardian culture, but as time went on, the art was forgotten and the name was perverted by charlatans trying to make a quick buck off of the name. Many true Geomancer lines have laid dormant since, but as greater knowledge of the art has been made more available, it seems the school may be making a comeback across the Far East.
Mechanics: It focuses on supporting the whole team, kind of like a DNC with its buffs. They summon "cleansing circles", kind of like a BLM's Leylines except they affect any party member standing in it with various buffs, the type of buff depending on the currently attuned element; Earth, Wind, or Water. GEOs can also bring the Cleansing Circle to them as they move around an area, as opposed to a BLM's Between The Lines ability, but if they wander too far away, the Circle disappears and the buffs dissipate, causing the GEO to have to start their cycle again. They also place a DoT on a target, one that does matching elemental damage and every few ticks, it pulses, causing allies near to the target to gain a shorter lasting buff of the relevant element. Once all three elements are shifted through, the GEO can purify their circle, causing all party members to gain enhanced versions of all three elemental buffs all at once, and dealing hefty damage to all nearby enemies upon the initial purification, as all the negative energy from the fight is purged into them. If a DoT is active on a foe when the circle is purified, it deals all the rest of its damage all at once, before mutating into a more powerful DoT, that lasts as long as the Purification does.
Extra fluff: Probably the idea I've had the longest. The design was mostly inspired by FF11's take on the Geomancer. However, I wanted to make a callback to some of the Geomancer designs of the past, which is why it takes the general blue colour scheme from FF3, the stripey pyjama legs from FF5, and the cropped top from Tactics. Since the Swallows Compass dungeon was also heavily based on Geomancy and the final boss of that was effectively Sun Wukong, I gave Geomancer the floating silk ribbon that you tend to associate with him but also Chinese gods of all sorts.
-----
Hunter (HNT) - Represented here by a female Hellsguard Role: Ranged DPS Weapons: Crossbows Limit Break: Shatterheart Culture of Origin: Gyr Abania
Lore: In the ancient deserts of Gyr Abania's past, it is tough to survive, let alone survive while opposing groups try to take your resources for your own. Sometimes, it takes subterfuge to get an advantage, but when you are always on the move and lacking the time to raise a generation of fighters while also just trying to cling to life, what alternatives are there? Archery requires incredible arm strength, and many other groups had decades of training under their belts. Thaumaturgy can be slow and loud with its chants and casts. For those that are weak of arm yet desire to stay stealthy, there is an option. The art of the Hunter. They quietly stalk their marks, using every trick in the book to hide their presence, and being able to sense everything that happens around them. Their use of the crossbow ensures a near soundless weapon that can take down targets from far distances without their target even being aware of the Hunter's existence. To add to their arsenal and awareness, Hunters have learned to create simple aetheric structures, traps that can be placed that when triggered, wound or bind their prey. And the Hunter's aetheric connection to the trap, ensures they know exactly where their mark lies. To further sow confusion and disruption, Hunters can create decoys of themselves, misdirecting targets and throwing them off their real location, giving the Hunter plenty of time to line up the shot.
Mechanics: Like the RPR, the Hunter focuses on using and maintaining a debuff on the opponent, causing more damage to be taken, manifesting as a target mark. The Hunter can then use more traps that open up various weaknesses in an opponent, such as applying a DoT, giving a short damage down debuff, or their two minute cooldown, a universal damage taken increase, like a NIN's Mug. Their traps also assist in world bosses, FATES, and dungeons by also applying Slow to those in a small radius around the triggered trap. The Hunter also can create temporary aetheric decoy constructs that can attack multiple targets (or one target for increased damage), create a personal shield, or to dash into stealth, lowering emnity like a Shirk would.
Extra fluff: Originally it was meant to be much closer to the Ranger from previous entries aesthetically and was supposed to be from the Black Shroud, but I wanted to have a different cultural influence. I thought of the Persian empire and the bright and unique clothes and culture that was not represented in game and figured it could be a good source of inspiration (note the outfit was cobbled together from several designs and is not representative of a true Persian design, if I had more time I would have done more solid research into getting a historically cohesive outfit together). As I still like the traditional Robin Hood style design, it was passed down onto the Tyrant instead.

Anyways thank you for making it to the end of the post, hope this was an interesting read and give thoughts if you feel like it! This was fairly quick and dirty so there's probably quite a few holes in them but again, just wanted to get these out there and into the community to share!

       "Oh, you— you came."
Their surprise was evident, written all over their features as they stared up at the Harbinger. The eerie, echoing click of her heels cut through the silence that, upon her entry, had befallen the Fatui's medics. The microexpressions on her face—brows furrowed inwards, gaze focused on nothing else but them, and lips pointed vaguely downwards—promised a fate far worse than death for anyone who dared to interrupt her.
Arlecchino was a calm, even-tempered woman...
...That is, she was a calm and even-tempered woman when her beloved little sibling was both safe and well. However, the blood soaking through the bandages wrapped around the lower half of their torso made it clear that they were not well. Safe, yes, but well? That, they most certainly were not.
Her tall stance cast a shadow over their body. Perhaps if they were anyone else, they would currently be fearing for their life... but as they gazed up at her with a meek smile, it occured to them that they were definitely concerned (though undoubtedly in a far more lighthearted way than any other person would be).
"You look so scary like this," they giggled timidly, snapping their gaze away and looking anywhere but at her. Subconsciously, their fingers fidgeted with the blanket draped over their legs. "Don't be mad... I messed up a bit. You know. Things— things happen..."
Arlecchino sighed, cutting them off: "Are you wounded anywhere else, [Name]?"
       "No. Just there."
"I see," she muttered thoughtfully, rolling up her sleeves. The inky darkness of her curse pulsed and spread, crawling further up her arms than it usually did—they couldn't help but frown slightly. Nonetheless, they said nothing of it. She would surely brush them off and tell them to worry more about themselves if they did.
Arlecchino turned to the nervous agents in the room; the second they did, everyone immediately tried to appear busy, whipping their bodies away from the direction of the Knave and her baby sibling with such speed that it surely gave a few of them whiplash. "You all are dismissed."
       'Get out. Now.'
With polite acknowledgments to her unspoken command, heads bowing to the Fourth, the Fatui's medics were quick to leave, urgency evident in their speedy steps. Anything they had been working on was long forgotten and left behind; certainly, the soldiers were unconcerned with their work. If anything, the only thing they were concerned with was getting away from Arlecchino. It wasn't very difficult to understand why.
No agent wanted to so much as imagine what might happen if they were to somehow invoke her fury, especially now of all times.
Once the final agent had left, and the heavy double doors shut—shockingly without any echo; perhaps the medics were afraid that even closing the door forcibly enough would agitate the Harbinger—their eyes shifted upwards.
"Peruere..." they murmured softly, straightening their spine somewhat and removing the blanket from their legs so that they could gingerly swing them over the side of the bed. They wished not to agitate their wound further—it still throbbed and ached, so they knew that one incorrect move would render them doubled over in pain. Their elder sister took notice of their enhanced caution.
"Did they give you any medication yet?" Arlecchino—Peruere, rather, inquired. She turned away from them briefly, speedily shuffling through the medical supplies on a nearby table. Scissors, gauze, antibacterial ointment...
"They tried, but nothing worked... well enough, that is. My fever has gone down since I arrived and it hurts slightly less, but it just hurts far too much for any of their weaker painkillers to be effective. This base isn't well-equipped to handle wounds like this."
Even breathing was a chore, really; each time their chest rose and fell, painful sparks clawed through their skin, originating at the gash in their side.
"Hm." Her face twisted and soured somewhat. "...I suppose I have no choice but to speak to the Doctor once we return to the Motherland, then."
Peruere then began thoroughly scrubbing her hands with special attention to the underside of her nails in one of the medical sinks, as to ensure that she did not cause any kind of infection to fester in their wound.
Their breath hitched, and they immediately went on to frantically ask, "Aren't you busy? You don't have to come with me. I can return by myself, it really isn't a big deal... even if that means talking to him—"
"No." Her eyes shifted to their direction (and for a moment, she couldn't help but think that they looked a little bit like a kicked puppy—dejected and pouty, as if they had somehow upset her). The Knave's tone softened slightly. "No. I do not trust the Doctor around you, nor do I trust these agents to ensure your safety. You are injured. I am the only one who can ensure no harm will befall you."
"I can defend myself," they asserted. "I'm your sibling, you know."
"I have no doubt that you can," she softly assured, drying her hands with a clean towel. "However, at the moment, you are in no condition to fight."
With that, she collected the necessary items and walked back towards their bed. Setting all but the scissors aside, she kneeled down, and began cutting away at the gauze.
       "Did they clean your wound?"
       "Yes."
       She hummed in ackowledgement.
Peruere's gaze softened somewhat at the sight of their wound—still wet with blood, the perimeter of the wound lined in matte crimson. She observed the way their stomach heaved with each breath.
Scorching flames burned in her veins. Had she not known any better, she would resolve to deliver a fate far worse than death to whoever did this, to personally escort them straight to the lowest circle of hell and splatter their guts across the floor.
(She awaited and anticipated the day that the Doctor somehow, in some way, brought harm to her sibling. Should that day ever arrive, she would finally have a reason, an excuse, to reunite him and the previous Knave.
Peruere was patient. She could wait.)
...She did know better, however, and her sibling was just about as much of a force as she was.
Whoever did this was certainly already well-acquainted with the devil.
After squeezing some of the antibacterial ointment onto her fingertips, she gingerly spread it across the area of their wound.
They grimaced somewhat, body instinctively snapping away from her hands. Peruere's freehand shot out to grab their hip with enough pressure to keep them in place but not enough to hurt them any further.
       "Shh. Be still."
"But it stings," they whined, shooting her an accusatory glance; there was a glimmer of mischief in their glazed eyes, however, and she immediately understood that whatever they were going to accuse her of was unserious in its nature. "You're making it hurt on purpose."
At that, the Harbinger rolled her eyes. It was clear that there was no true agitation behind the gesture.
"No, it doesn't, and no, I assure you that I am not," she replied calmly, continuing to spread the ointment to ensure that every part of the injury was adequately lathered. "I put nothing on it that would make it hurt. Don't be dramatic."
"Ahh... you're so mean, Per..." they sighed dramatically. "So terribly mean to your beloved, wounded baby sibling~"
She chose not to feed into their mischief. Instead, she began winding the gauze around their body. Once she felt that it was properly wrapped—covered with enough layers to keep dirt and debris out of their flesh and blood—she pulled. "Is this too tight?"
A soft hum rose from their throat as they inhaled as to ensure that it really wasn't too tight, even when they breathed deeply. "No. The pressure helps with the pain, actually."
The Harbinger nodded, securing the end of the gauze. She then rose—though not fully, and rather bent at the waist somewhat to meet them at eye-level. The hand that was void of any residue from the cream softly carressed their face.
Her pupils bore into theirs, thumb rubbing back and forth across their cheekbone. She was mindful as to avoid scratching them with her nail. Though she often told others not to gaze into her eyes for too long—'What you see may not be very pleasant,' she would say—they seemed to be an exception.
In her eyes, as most do, they saw destruction, death, and madness. In them, it did not induce fear. It made them feel safe.
And perhaps that made them no less mad then their elder sister was.
That fate, however, was one that they were content with.
The Knave withdrew, though not before placing a tender kiss on the crown of their head.
"Rest now. We will depart for Snezhnaya when you awaken again."

ever since a talk on the bird site the other day I’m absolutely obsessed with Zenos’ ancient incarnation being Ares and the reason he’s had dreams of the Final Days his whole life is because of that.
Of course he and Aph were lovers and he joined her on adventures from time to time. Metamours with Hades and Hyth and Venat.
In terms of temperament, a boisterous but kindhearted sort, but hotheaded and bored quite easily. Hunting down rogue creations that posed a threat was his job in Amaurot and so he was well familiar with Elpis and often asked for Aph’s help, which is how they got acquainted and eventually became lovers.
I think Emet would have crammed a fragment of him into his own mortal family line as a contingency plan. He was always good in a fight and easily manipulated despite how smart he was, traits that would be useful to keep at close hand when your plan is to cause chaos, even if you couldn’t guarantee they’d carry over to a new incarnation. Ofc Emet couldn’t account for Varis being such a shitty father but well.

Hello Aphe!! How are you?? I hope you're feeling well!! It's been some time since I sent an ask (I probably sent one days ago, but I can't remember TT).
I created a really nice QSMP OC with a friend of mine and now we are having a lot of fun creating lore!! Creating OCs is an amazing thing when we want to. Genshin OCs are... rather difficult I guess, the characters ingame have too much details AAA. It can always look too much or too simple, depending on what you do. My personal OC nightmare is genshin, all my OCs start to look like Emilys for me, probably because detailing them is hard TT
Alsoooo, I had just reached act 4 in Sumeru... then my eardrum was punctured and I can't play for some days now, that's definitely the world against me TT
Do you mind if I send you more asks during these days? I'm feeling quite lonely and every time I see a notification from Tumblr from your blog I get happy loll
Please drink some water!! It's hot!!
-🦢 anon <3
hi dear!!!!! i am, thank you <33 i think it has been a bit since i've seen you in my inbox, yes! but to be honest, i have very bad time blindness, so i can't be 100% sure.
that's awesome!!!! oc creation is a lot of fun, especially with friends. genshin ocs, and hoyoverse ocs in general, ARE quite difficult. i spent about two or three hours designing my oc lian's outfit, and it's... quite simple, really. it's not an insanely complicated look AJSKAHANGN
OH NOO i hope you heal & feel better soon!!
you're always welcome to do so!!!!!! anytime you want to send me something, please do <3
i will!! but make sure you do the same. it is very hot!!
