[Press Release] MustB Announces Comeback with ‘La Señorita’

MustB returns with their new album ‘La Señorita’, which comes five months after their second single ‘Spring Again’ which came out in April. The title track ‘La Señorita’ is a song with a passionate Latin mood with impressive lyrics filled with a man’s confession of “I will definitely make you mine” while showing off MustB’s intense and sexy charm. In addition, MustB members Taegeon, Soohyun, and Sihoo participated in the songwriting process, giving the song a truly unique sound.

According to MustM Entertainment, MustB is set to show off a more mature side of themselves in this comeback album through their masterfully crafted hairstyles, and Latin-inspired costumes, brewing anticipation, and excitement among their fans.

On September 14, 2022, MustB performed their comeback stage with ‘La Señorita’ at MBC Show Champion and released the official music video ahead of the official album release. ‘La Senorita’ is set to be released worldwide through all music streaming platforms on September 19th.

Along with this, the second track ‘All Day’ is a song that highlights the natural, groovy rapping of MustB’s members against an instrumental that combines both old and new school beats. ‘All Day’ is a fan song dedicated to Muffin, fandom name, and features MustB’s ambitions as young boys who have grown into young men who know they can do anything with Muffins by their side.

During the Press Conference, we were able to ask “La Senorita is a different genre than in the past concepts, was it a challenge, or was it something that was exciting to do?”. Wooyeon gladly answered, “MustB has a fiery manliness that finally can be shown more than in past concepts. We have grown as men since our debut and came prepared as men”. 

MustB will be holding other schedules this month, Save the Earth ESG Concert hosted by Pocketdols on September 17th and MustB Live at SPI on September 30th through October 1st in San Padre, TX.

Help Getting BL Manhwa Paljae Licensed

As per an initiative started on Reddit, I would like to ask you for help in regards to the potential licensing of the BL manhwa Paljae, Child of Winter.

I'm not kidding when I say this manhwa is a treat for the eyes.

With its Korean-inspired mythology and eery fantasy elements, Paljae is a beatiful story about a blind, powerful dosa (akin to a cultivator) who saves the life of a mysterious creature close to death that seems to be weakened by high temperatures and empowered by Winter season.

This is a mesmerizing manhwa both in artstyle and content. The exploration of human emotions, the blossoming of deep-rooted love and lifelong lessons are just the tip of this phenomenal story about two messed up beings finding companionship in each other.

I could sing praises about this story for hours and still it wouldn't be enough to express just how good it is. If this tiny summary has picked your interest, or if you're already acquainted with the story, please spare me five (5) more minutes!

See, as many of you know, the publishing house Seven Seas Entertainment opens a reader's survey every month to get suggestions from people about what their new licenses should be. From personal experience, I know getting a publisher's attention is hard (very much so), which means that this survey is a great opportunity to hopefully make them consider licensing this title.

✨샤워젤과 소다수 / 고선경

오로지 제목 하나만 보고 산 시집. 나의 책 구매는 사실 대부분 이런 식으로 발생한다. 올해 읽은 시집 중 3위안에 들 정도로 좋았다. 마치 내가 쓴 것 같은 문장들, 어떤 세계를 같이 공유하고 있을 것만 같은 기분 좋은 착각. "나는 비범하지 않으면서 눈에 띄기를 바랍니다 돌연사를 해서라도 말이지요"

✨수확자 / 닐 셔스터먼

솔직히 이런 책은 대부분 추천과 입소문에 의해서 읽게 되는데 이런 걸 보면 추천의 힘이 정말 대단하다. 중반까지 읽었을 때에는 이 책이 그 정도인가...?싶었다가 그 이후부터는 완전히 빠져서 핸드폰을 들여다볼 생각도 안 날 정도로 몰입해서 읽었다. 인간의 가장 큰 두려움인 죽음이 사라지자 인간은 기어코 다시 죽음을 되돌려냈다. 이 정도면 뭐 거의 사랑 아닌가? "지금으로부터 1천 년 후, 평균 나이가 1천 살에 가까워지면 삶이 어떻게 될지 궁금하다. 우리 모두가 예술과 과학에 능한 르네상스의 아이들이 될까? 숙답할 시간은 충분하니 말이다. 아니면 지루함과 독창성 없는 일과가 지금보다 더 우리를 좀먹어, 무한한 삶을 살아갈 이유가 줄어들고 말까? 나는 전자를 꿈꾸지만, 실제로는 후자가 되지 않을까 의심한다."

✨허술하면 좀 어때 / 띠로리

유튜브에서 우연히 보고 바로 주문해서 읽은 책이다. 개인적으로 좋아하는 장르의 책이 있는데 바로 예술가가 자신의 작품을 설명하고, 예술가로 살아가는 일상을 담은 책. 근데 동시대에 살고 있는 예술가이거나 어딘가 완벽하지 않은 예술가의 이야기라면 더 좋다. 허술하고 엉성하면 살아남기 힘든 세상에서 결국 자신만의 아이디어를 발견하고 발전시키는 과정이 매우 흥미로웠다. 그의 인형처럼 허술하지만 유연하게 그렇게 살아가고 싶다. "쓸모로 따지자면 예술은 아무런 의미가 없다. 하지만 모두가 한 방향으로 걸어갈 때, '나는 안 걸으련다'하고 우뚝 멈춰 서는 것만으로도 교통에 정체가 생기고, 질서에 균열이 생긴다. 그게 예술가가 세상에 행사할 수 있는 유일한 일이라고 믿는다. 모두가 심각한 가치를 찾기 위해 달려가는 와중에 나는 그러고 싶지 않다. 그러느니 주저앉아버리고 싶다. 그럼으로써 만들어지는 가치도 있다."

✨고요한 우연 / 김수빈

(왼쪽 책, 단독 사진 없음 이슈) 이곳저곳에서 많은 추천을 받아 읽기 시작한 책이다. (아마도 유튜브와 인스타) 요즘 청소년문학은 옛날과 달리 다채로워서 재밌다. 우리는 자라면서 스스로가 평범하다는 사실을 깨닫고는 좌절하고는 한다. 그런데 평범한 게 나쁘기만 한 걸까. 평범함과 편안함은 어쩌면 동의어가 아닐까. "나는 그저 조금이라도 반짝이는 모래알이 되고 싶은 것뿐이다. 신발 끈을 안 풀리게 묶는다거나 지도가 필요 없을 만큼 방향감각이 좋다거나 가위바위보 승률이 유난히 높다거나, 이렇게 아주 사소하게 반짝이는 것만으로 충분한데."

✨마침내 운전 / 신예희

이 책을 운전 처음 시작할 때 읽었으면 더 공감 가고 재밌었을 텐데..!아쉽다 아쉬워. 사실 이 책이 나온 지도 몰랐다가 밀리에서 처음 발견하고 놀랐던 기억이 난다. 좋아하는 작가가 제대로 말아주는 운전 이야기.. 좋다. 운전을 시작하고 의외로 재밌었던 점은 나를 더 가까이에서 바라볼 수 있었다는 것. 나도 몰랐던 새로운, 어쩌면 진짜 나를 만날 수 있었고 그럼으로써 내 세계가 한층 더 커질 수 있었다는 것.

✨우정도둑 / 유지혜

(이 책은 최근 읽은 책은 아니지만 어쨌든 한번은 리뷰를 올리고 싶어서 같이..) 신간이 나온다는 걸 알고 출간되자마자 구매해서 읽은 책. 믿는다는 건 뭘까. 믿음을 주는 일만큼 어려운 일이 있을까. 나는 지금 살아가는 게 너무 힘든데 죽고 싶지는 않다. 내가 사랑하는 책과 영화와 음악이 있는데 이렇게 죽을 순 없다. 그가 계속 글을 써줬으면 좋겠다. 주제넘지만 내가 살아있는 한 계속. 내가 직접 들어보니 이 말만큼 작가에게 듣기 좋은 말이 또 없는 것 같다. "어쩌면 우리는 혼자 있을 때에 가장 어여쁘다. 혼자 있을 때, 상대를 의식하지 않을 때 최대치의 매력과 실천을 발산할 수 있는 것이다."

People are asses. I hang bells from their necks so they can sing to me while I recline on a rock.

People are fools. I’ll hang them up in the wardrobe like winter clothes.

May’s barley is about to ripen. Each stalk has lined up its seeds in orderly fashion so they can stand at the gate of heaven.

I can line up words without meaning.

I can create meaning from nothingness.

I tie a horse near the barley and meaning overflows.

Meaning is orderliness.

Meaning is coincidence.

Meaning is a beast of burden hauling watermelons.

If only I could line things up like a stalk of barley does.

Barley takes its own life in May, and wheat opens its mute mouth in June.

My time is the end of August.

At the end of August, my trigger snaps.

Oh, if only I could live in a glass of water; my roots white, my hair green, and the sun my only god.

I have one song I keep repeating. I have one great lie I’ve attached to the ceiling with tape, so that the flies of truth will stick to it.

My head is huge like a balloon. My hand is a destitute star, the knife is a painful simplicity I do not possess, and when I arrive at meaning, it is lost to me.

IV.

He was crying, so I took his hand to steady him and to wipe away his tears.

I told him as sorrow choked me: I promise you that justice

will prevail in the end, and that peace will come soon.

I was lying to him, of course. I know that justice won’t prevail

and peace won’t come soon, but I had to stop his tears.

I had this false notion that says, if we can, by some sleight of hand, stop

the river of tears, everything would proceed in a reasonable manner.

Then, things would be accepted as they are. Cruelty and justice would graze

together in the field, god would be satan’s brother, and the victim would be

his killer’s beloved.

But there is no way to stop the tears. They constantly pour out like a flood

and ruin the lying ceremony of peace.

And for this, for tears’ bitter obstinance, let the eye be consecrated as the truest saint

on the face of the earth.

It is not poetry’s job to wipe away tears.

Poetry should dig a trench where they can overflow and drown the universe.

오월의 보리가 다 익어간다. 보리는 천국의 문 앞에 서기 위해 보릿대마다 씨앗을 가지런히 세워두었다.

나는 의미 없는 말들을 가지런히 세울 수 있다.

나는 무로부터 의미를 창조할 수 있다.

말을 보리 옆에 묶으면 의미가 흘러넘친다.

의미는 정연함.

의미는 우연.

의미는 수박을 나르는 수레를 끄는 짐승.

보릿대처럼 가지런히 할 수만 있었으면.

보리는 오월이면 스스로 목숨을 끊고, 밀은 유월에 침묵하던 입을 연다.

나의 시절은 팔월말.

팔월말이 되면 나의 도화선이 끊어진다.

오, 물잔 속에 살 수만 있다면; 하얀 뿌리와 초록 머리를 갖고, 태양만을 나의 신으로 섬기며.

부르고 또 부르는 노래가 있다. 진실의 파리들이 붙도록 천장에 걸어놓은 대단한 거짓말이 있다.

그가 울고 있어, 나는 그의 손을 들어 그를 진정시키고 그의 눈물을 닦아 내었다.

슬픔이 나의 목을 조르는데 말했다: 약속할게

마침내 정의가 이길 것이고, 곧 평화가 올거야.

물론, 나는 거짓말을 하고 있었다. 정의가 이기지 못할 것이라는 것도

곧 평화가 오지 않는다는 것도 알지만, 그의 눈물을 멈춰야했다.

나는 잘못 생각하고 있었던 것이다, 만약 우리가 교묘한 손짓으로, 강물 같은 눈물을

멈출 수 있다면, 모든 일이 합리적으로 흘러갈 것이라고.

그럼 모든 것이 있는 그대로 받아들여질 것이라고. 잔인함과 정의가 밭에서

함께 풀을 뜯을 것이고, 신은 사탄의 형제가 될 것이고, 피해자는

자기 살인자의 연인일 것이라고.

허나 눈물을 멈출 방법이 없다. 홍수처럼 흐르고 또 흘러

거짓말 뿐인 평화의식을 망친다.

그것을 보아, 눈물의 이 쓰디쓴 고집을보아, 눈을 지구상 가장 진실된

성자로 축성하라.

눈물을 닦아내는 건 시가 할 일이 아니다.

시가 해야할 일은 눈물이 흘러넘쳐 온 우주를 잠기게 할 도랑을 파내는 일이다.

*이 글은 책 후기...는 뒷전이고 그냥 덕질입니다

정성은이라는 사람을 알게 된 건 정말 우연이었다. 근데 그 우연이 이 시대에 딱 들어맞는 우연이었다. 그러니까... 알고리즘의 우연. 어떠한 방식으로, 무슨 데이터가 적용되어 내 sns 피드에 등장하게 된 건 진 영문도 모를 일이지만 그 복잡하고 정교한 알고리즘이, 그리고 그놈의 sns가 고마운 건 살면서 처음이었다.

시기와 질투, 상대적 박탈감 그리고 효소 공구 일정만 얻을 수 있는 인스타그램에서 정성은 작가님의 피드는 뭐랄까... 그냥 너무 좋았다. 그냥 너무 좋다고 밖에 표현 못 하는 내 표현력이 열받지만 곰곰이 생각해 보면 저것만큼 진솔한 표현도 딱히 없다. 이 시대에... 조건도 없이 ‘그냥’ 너무 좋을 수 있어? No.... 물론 조건 없이도 좋을 수 있지. 하지만 그게 쉬워? 절대 No.... 그 어려운 일을 작가님은 단숨에 쉽게 했다.

뭐가 그렇게 좋아?라고 물어보면 사실 또 잘 모르겠다... 왜냐면 이것도 내 뇌(혹은 마음)의 알고리즘이 적용된 현상 같은 거라서... 나라는 사람이 몇 십 년 동안 살면서 체득하고 축적해 온 경험에서 오는 데이터들이(��향, 관심사, 기호 그런 거..라고 썼는데 그게 그거 같음ㅋ) 한데 어우러져 ‘오 뭐야! 너무 좋다!’라고 판단 내렸기 때문에 나도 (아직 정확하게) 잘 모르는 것이다.

근데 좋아하는 걸 몇 가지 이유만으로 단순하게 설명하라는 건 나한테 너무 힘든 일이다. 왜냐면 나는 여태 살아오면서 이유가 있어서 좋아하기보단 좋아한 다음에 그만한 이유를 붙였기 때문... (선좋후유...읽을 때 발음 주의하세요.) 그래서 정성은 작가님이 좋은 이유는 엄~~청나게 큰 이유가 하나 일 수도 있고, 짜잘자잘한 이유들이 천 개, 만 개가 될 수도 있다. 근데 솔직히 이유 따윈 몰라도 그만이다. 이미 좋아버린 걸 무슨 수로...

무언가를 좋아하는 건 참 신기한 일이다. 좋아하는 건 어떤 식으로든 확장되니까. 꼭 필연적인 것처럼. 어쩌면 이것도 알고리즘의 형태와 같을까? 정성은이라는 작가를 좋아했더니 임지은라는 작가를 알게 되고, 그러면 자연스럽게 임지은의 책을 읽게 되고, 이 좋은 책은 어디서 나온담? 안온북스라는 출판사 구나. 오? 근데 잘 보니까 내 방 책장에 안온북스에서 나온 책이 꽂혀 있어. 심지어 내가 재밌게 읽었던 책이야. 와, 너무 신기하다. 어? 근데 여기서 또 정성은 작가님의 책이 나오네. 이런 식으로 내가 좋아하는 것들은 또 내가 좋아할만 한 걸로 연결된다. (아니면 이미 연결된 상태였거나) 그러니 무언가를 좋아하는 건 신기한 동시에 참 소중할 수 밖에 없는 일이다.

그냥 너무 좋은 작가님의 소중한 책이 나왔다. 바로 <궁금한 건 당신> 책 좋아하는 사람은 물론 책 싫어하는 사람도 부담 없이 재밌게 읽을 수 있을 거라고 자부한다. 평범한 사람들의 인터뷰가 담긴 책인데, 다 읽고 나면 어느 하나 평범한 사람이 없다. 평범한 건 대체 뭘까? 진짜. 평범한 건 진짜를 뜻하는 것 같다. 진짜 사람, 진짜 이야기, 진짜 인생, 진짜 사랑. sns에 넘쳐나는 가짜 같은 피드에 지치고 상처받은 사람들이라면 <궁금한 건 당신>을 추천하고 싶다. 읽다 보면 분명 당신도 싫은 것 투성이에서 진짜 그냥 좋은 게 하나 생길 테니까. 그러면 그 좋은 게 당신이 좋아할 만한 또 다른 좋은 걸로 연결되겠지. 모두가 이왕 태어난 거 싫은 것보다 좋은 게 계속 연결되는 삶을 유지했으면 좋겠다.
