[The comic is not split into any discrete panels, but is intended to be read left to right, top to bottom. The top left corner of the first page notes that this is me trying to beat Hunter mode.

The comic begins with Hunter walking into a room with a shelter. They're holding a spear and a grapple worm, and have an explosive spear on their back. They're in one of the rooms in the leg, approximately two-thirds of the way down; the shelter is between two mounds with poles sticking out of them. Hunter is thinking: "Phew... that's good progress." On the platform above the shelter is a spitter spider.

Hunter then slides into the shelter, which is a small box. They're thinking: "I'll hibernate here and then go to Memory Crypts."

The next cycle, Hunter slowly wakes up, blearily opening their eyes. There are a few cysts growing on them, and their two spears are resting on their back and their tail respectively. The grapple worm is puttering about in the foreground, covering a dark object. Through their groggy eyes, they make out a dark, spiky thing.

They abruptly realize the thing is a spitter spider that somehow entered their shelter at the last moment, and they start screaming; the bottom left panel shows them with an extremely terrified and horrified expression, with their outline streaking upwards in alarm. They grab their normal spear and throw it, but it misses, embedding itself into the wall above the spitter spider with a loud thunk. They resume screaming, flattening their ears. Above these four panels, the screaming is explicitly transcribed as, in all caps: "aaaaaaaaaaaaaashitshitshit".

They then grab their explosive spear, throwing it; it flies true and embeds itself into the spitter spider. While doing this, they're still yelling (in all caps): "shitshitshit". They then back themself up against the wall as the explosive spear begins to hiss, thinking: "... I'm so dead".

The explosive spear explodes with a loud boom, throwing Hunter up into the ceiling. They then fall back down onto the ground, stunned but still alive, next to the smoking husk of the spitter spider. They get up, confused, wondering: "Wait..." They then glance off to their left, frowning as they wonder: "How am I alive." In smaller text below that is their follow up thought: "Also where's my grapple worm..." end image description]

so uh... hunter mode, huh.

i very nearly shrieked out loud when this happened. i'm pretty sure this experience rewired my brain tbh

#i did manage to get down to the shelter at the very bottom of the leg this same cycle #so i wasn't stuck with my spider roommate #i had to use the gate to run away from this fucking spider though #got paralyzed as the gate was closing and had to watch the spider angrily twitch on the other side #0/10 why do they have poison darts #the grapple worm was Gone gone. like it was no longer in the shelter #i guess the spider ate it but i wasn't aware they'd. like. delete the corpse #i hope the perspective stuff isn't too weird? it's how the comic panned out in my head #never done this before honestly #rain world #hunter slug #my art #slugcat #this run was the one that died by the way #thankfully there was not a repeat incident in the run that succeeded #oh wait i think using the gate to outrun the spider was in the second run #but i don't fully remember

Just screamed so loud in my car that both my ears rang and a spider fell from the ceiling. My throat hurts.

#my pharmacy won't fill my meds AGAIN because some motherfucker decided to make a new policy that requires more instructions or something #i keep not getting my meds when I need them because every time i get a new script sent out (like one I haven't been on before) i hear...#...nothing back from the pharmacy; generally for days; and then when i call them (every 10 or 15 or 30 minutes for several hours) no...#...one picks up the goddamn phone and i have to make time to go in in person and ask the pharmacist when my meds will be ready.#and then they tell me 'oh yeah we HAVE the script from your doctor. we just need MORE INFORMATION and sent them an ELECTRONIC NOTE...#...(reminder that i live in fucking rural idaho so most people use a fucking phone and not 'an electronic note') and haven't heard back...#...from them yet so we're just waiting on that :)' and then i have to smile and thank them bc it isn't their fucking fault the policy is...#...some fucking bullshit and then i have to call my doctor on the phone (and can never reach them directly so i have to get a...#...receptionist to leave them a note that i HOPE they'll see in the next couple of days but sometimes they don't) and since i never have...#...an emergency it's often 2 or more weeks before anyone gets back to me. i usually have to call the pharmacy again. and then they don't...#...always answer and i usually have to go in and ask AGAIN why my meds aren't ready and they go 'oh we're still waiting on your doctor'...#...:) or 'they sent us a message back but it wasn't ENOUGH information and we sent them another ELECTRONIC NOTE that they won't see for...#...days or weeks so we recommend YOU call your doctor even though we're the ones flinging you around like a rag doll and you have 0...#...control over it. and by the way we're going to continue doing this for like a fucking year every time you get a new script. and when...#...your doctor asks you if the new meds are working you're going to have to say 'i have no fucking clue because it took 6 weeks to get...#...my goddamn prescription filled and it takes 3 months for the medication to show signs of working so my pharmacy wasted HALF of that...#...time sending electronic notes instead of filling my motherfucking prescription and i was supposed to be off these meds by summer...#...since they cause intense sunburn and shit and i have an OUTDOOR JOB NOW but my acne is still bad and hasn't gone away enough to stop...#...using the super intense stuff and my face hurts and swells and oozes and i have to wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen EVERY time...#...i go outside because i can get a sunburn in 20 minutes now and i've been having heat rashes from the sun for the first time in my...#...LIFE and i have to fucking monitor myself every time i go outside and it's the warm season and i need a new pair of lighter work...#...pants but they don't sell above a size 18 for women even though men go up to like a size 45 which is like a size 24 or 26 in women's...#...and men's pants don't fit me bc i was blessed with the largest ass in the history of mankind' and i am so. fucking. tired.#of all the bullshit.#i feel miserable. my mom is buying me otc imodium bc i have NO IDEA when my prescription will come available. i just want the cramping...#...to stop. i've been having diarrhea all day every day since sunday. the cramps HURT and they keep me up at night. i haven't been...#...eating much bc there's so much shit moving around and hurting in my gut that i can't feel when i'm hungry and food doesn't soumd great.#so i'm weak and slow and tired and can't go to work and i'm using up all the sick days i was hoping to save up to visit my friend in...#...cyprus this winter. so that probably can't happen. but anyways. my mom came by while i was typing this out and i feel betterish.#personal

Under the cut, because like Aurelio and Revka, I am incapable of keeping it concise.

Okay, so 3 (what architectural or design aesthetic would best suit them?). I'll be the first to admit I'm not au fait with the industry terms. What I can say, though, with regard to general preferences:

Most important thing for Rhodri is that stuff is clean and in reasonably good repair. With the exception of hairline cracks in the buildings, which any Tevinter will assure you adds character, broken tiles and the like should be replaced. Also important is to make the place look both imposing to outsiders, but welcoming to familiar people.

Some clutter indoors, especially books, is encouraged, but only on table surfaces (never on the floor, as Tevinters consider it dirty, no matter how many times you mop it).

I've always seen Tevinter as a place that has a lot of sandstone and marble, so I figure plenty of the buildings are made out of those two things. Especially the upper-crust villas like what Rhodri grew up in.

In terms of decorations, better with trees and gardens rather than fancy statues. The symbol of Tevinter can either be carved into the sandstone, or in a banner hanging at the front of the villa.

High ceilings, please, and an atrium indoors, as it's hot as buggery year round in Minrathous. Make it nice and light, too. It's a beautiful, sunny city.

Someone made a Tevinter-inspired courtyard, though I would just make this their atrium. MeggieRock took a whole bunch more pictures; I just chose the one I liked best. They're all amazing, though. I'm not quite sure if that's what the question was asking or not. Was I close? haha :D lmk if not!!

Number 7 (If your OC could meet any historical or past figure, whether in the real world or in their own canon lore, who would it be and why?)

Oh, easy choice. Zevran's mother, hands down. Naturally, if she could plan it out, she'd take Zevran so he could meet her, but if that wasn't allowed, she'd take a list of questions and information to pass on to her mother-in-law on Zevran's behalf.

One thing I never really thought of until now is that it would have been quite a thing at the wedding to see the Imperial Chantry packed to the rafters with Rhod's family and friends and friends of the family and and and... But then not a soul from Zevran's side. People would've been astonished. Northerners have huge networks, and Zevran comes empty-handed to his own nuptials? It's sad, honestly. Especially because even though Tevinters don't marry for love as a rule, the marriage does signify two households becoming much more linked. Really, you don't just marry one person, you marry the whole family.

On the plus side, Zevran has a whole new gaggle of people who love him to bits, so it's very much a net win. Even so, Rhodri was looking forward to the whole +1 family add-on with whomever her father was going to set her up with. So the chance to say g’day to her mother-in-law would be something she’d be absolutely jonesing for.

Assuming Zevran isn't allowed to join in on this, meeting Zevran's mother would be a very emotional event, I think, for Rhodri and her mother-in-law both. Not least because this poor Dalish woman realises her only child has gone and gotten hitched with a Tevinter Magister, oh my GOD. I dunno, though, I think Rhodri's candour and very plain affection for her son (she practically sings odes about him as it is) would reassure her. She'd probably be heartbroken to hear Zevran went through what he did with the Crows. I’m sure she’d be very proud of him too, though, especially as Rhodri waxes lyrical about his heroism and kind heart during the Blight (and every other point in time, honestly) .

And yanno, marrying into fabulous wealth with a spouse who's willing to do anything for him, well. It's a turn-up for the books after Crow living. This lady would probably be content enough to let Rhodri go (only after ALL her questions are answered) with some ominous warning about haunting the shit out of her if she breaks Zevran's heart. Fair enough, honestly. What loving mother could do more?

Ooh. Ooh ok. Let's see. I can't say Rhodri dislikes Common, because it's her mother's native language (though Revka does speak Tevene) and her mother is a SAINT, damn it! BUT Rhod's far more Tevinter than Kirkwaller, culturally speaking, and does have a heavy preference for Tevene.

The trouble with Common, as any proud Northerner will tell you, is that it's not so much a cultural language these days, but rather a trade tongue. A lingua franca, at most. Those poor bloody Fereldans and Marchers, Maker help them, lost their cultural language and can only speak Common now. Where are the culturally-specific words for certain moods, circumstances, weather phenomena, celebrations? Where's the language made by the first of their people to live there, that ties them to their homes and families?

She uses Common when she needs to. Everyone does. If anyone with her doesn't speak Tevene, or doesn't feel proficient enough, she'll speak Common, as basic courtesy dictates. With Kirkwaller family, though, she uses it more joyfully. Especially when she gets a chance to whip out the dreadful sandblaster Kirkwaller accent and horrify everyone but her mother, who was the one to teach it to her.

(HC if needed: I have assigned various accents and dialects of the English-speaking diaspora to the Marcher nations and beyond, as I'm sick of RP everywhere. Kirkwallers speak Australian English; Starkhaveners have the most gorgeous Glaswegian (feel free to picture Sebastian Vael screaming "Whae fuckin widnae! Eh? Think ah fuckin widnae? Ya fuckin radge!" when challenged to a fight). And those splendid people in Tantervale delight us all with the linguistic beauty of Belfast!)

For all other matters, she speaks Tevene. I'd say she's evenly bilingual having grown up speaking both, but Tevene, which is much more expressive and emotional, communicates her and her inner workings best. Lots of Tevene doesn't translate well into Common, and she forever bemoans that, because it makes it much harder to get her message across. The pain of having to explain 'te amo plenissime' while Zevran's still learning, oh god. She thinks and dreams in Tevene. Any poetry or important, heartfelt things she writes-- Tevene (except to her mother, of course). Magical research is more easily written in Tevene- Circle mages across Thedas use a lot of Tevene loanwords for magical things because of course, magic was suppressed outside of the Imperium.

She does learn Antivan though! Luckily, the two countries have very similar linguistic roots-- in fact, my HC here is that Antivan developed from Tevene, and they haven't diverged too much yet. I'd say it'd be like being a German speaker learning Dutch. The trick is keeping your own first language out of your target language's turn of phrase. Zevran and Rhodri both pick up each other's language without too much trouble once they're living under the same roof again after Awakening.

Rhodri, who has been watching me type all this for her, has asked me to pass on that, 'iucundis can ask me anything at all, and we will not be ignoring this question,' so there you have it!

I don't think there's anything very specific to the busier days that would feature, to be honest. Her schedule is embedded with the things needed to keep her comfortable. When she was a little sprout and had come home from a long day, she was often fairly tense, especially if she'd gotten dirty. Her folks found that the best solution was to drop her in the bath and read to her, and then give her dinner. Most problems can be fixed by getting clean and having a good meal, really.

Even now, bath and food works wonders. Bathing with company or without, she doesn't mind. (Ironically enough, given its fussiness about modesty, Tevinter has a big bathhouse culture, and friends and family love a day out together at the spa/baths.)

That aside, if she's tired or stressed, it's more painful as a rule to deviate from the schedule, so if she has things that need to be done, she's found that it's better to half-arse them to get to bath/food/bed quicker. Dealing with the fallout is Tomorrow Rhodri's problem. My little rebel. <3

the odd digits (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) are “round” numbers to me. the even ones (2, 4, 6, 8) are “jagged” numbers and idk to explain it.

“Ness--” The spear dug deeper into Tatum’s throat, cutting him off.

“Shut up, Slicker,” the pale syreni said.

“You’re one to talk, Sharps, you’re deep in the trench now,” said the short syreni holding Loch, who now had his wrists tied to the end of his tail.

“I ain’t Marianas just yet, you bag of bones,” Sharps snarled. They turned back to Tatum with a wide grin. “I’m just dancing on the edge, friend. When I’m sucked down they’ll know, I’ll be bringin’ them all down with me. We can dance in the dark together.”

“Just kill him Sharps, we’re wasting time,” Nessie said. “I want this guppy back before Aeris comes to get his fighters.”

“You sure I can't keep this one, Nex?” said the one holding Art. She wrapped her tail around his waist, brushing her fingers down his ribs, which had a faint shadow under each one now. “I’ve been getting a bit bored with my other girl, I figure a pretty boy like him would be a nice change, don’t you think?”

Rage crawled up Tatum’s neck like bubbles in boiling water, and before he could think twice he threw his palm into the side of the spear. It dragged through his gills before shattering, slicing deep through the scars already there, but all he could feel was the feverish anger in his chest, like electricity running through his veins.

He darted towards Art, grabbing the wrist of the woman holding a knife to his throat, and twisting hard until he heard a sharp snap. She released Art with a howl of pain, and Art ducked out of the way just in time before Tatum slammed his fist into her nose, a satisfying crunch beneath his knuckles.

I woke up at 5:30am today and then got slandered by Trade’s choice of words for me to find so instead of tagging people I’m just gonna take a nap

#ok but I was suprised I couldn't find trudge actually #I coulda sworn Art truged up or down the hill leading to Tatum n Loch's dock once #Flee makes sense because I actually hate that word for no other reason than the way it's sounds. it's a bad word 0/10 #flex?#eh? it's a fine word I just don't use it much #if someone flexes a muscle I don't usually say they flexed X muscle lol #it's usually something about muscles bunching or squeezing not so much flexing #blight? honestly don't know why I haven't used it it's a good word #would make sense in a dystopian setting #It's a more poetic sounding word though and I don't default to beautiful prose so it's more of a word that I'd add in later rather than firs #*rather than think of using when first writing somethin
