This thing.

There was this random astrology thing describing the elements as follows:

Now these sound a whole lot like the centres. Water with hearts, air with diamonds, earth with clubs and fire with spades.

Each centre has 3 subcentres: mechanical, emotional and intellectual. (Turns out this is actually based on Gurdjieff)

Each element has 3 signs: fixed, mutable and cardinal.

I think there might be some connection between the two.

While none of them fit perfectly, I think the closest is as follows:

Fixed - Mechanical

Mutable - Emotional

Cardinal - Intellectual

Therefore, as a Queen of Diamonds, I would fit Gemini. In fact, I am Capricorn, and yet the King of Clubs really doesn't work for me. Probably because astrology is even more bollocks than the rest of this, and the rest of this is hardly scientific.

Cabbage and Onion Torta

Total Time 1 hour 45 minutes

Ingredients

Yield:6 to 8 servings

475grams all-purpose flour (4 cups)

60grams whole wheat flour (½ cup)

12grams kosher salt (about 2½ teaspoons), more as needed

12tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

¼cup olive oil, more as needed

1large Spanish onion, halved and sliced (2½ cups)

1½pounds Savoy or regular cabbage (1 small head), cored and sliced

Black pepper, as needed

2teaspoons cider vinegar, or to taste

⅓cup dry bread crumbs

5large garlic cloves, finely chopped

1½tablespoons thyme leaves

8ounces fontina cheese, grated (2 cups)

2ounces diced smoked ham such as speck (optional)

1large egg yolk

To make the pastry, combine flours and 7 grams (1½ teaspoons) salt in a large bowl. Using a pastry cutter or two forks, cut in butter until it forms coarse crumbs. Add 1 to 1½ cups very cold water, working it in a few tablespoons at a time, until mixture just comes together. Form dough into a ball, cover with plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and lightly browned, about 10 minutes.

Add 1 tablespoon oil and stir in cabbage, a handful at a time, waiting for each addition to wilt slightly before adding more. Season with 5 grams (1 teaspoon) salt and some pepper. Cook until cabbage is tender and any liquid has evaporated, about 7 to 10 minutes. Stir in vinegar and cook until evaporated, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Transfer mixture to a bowl. Taste and add more salt, vinegar or both, as needed.

Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to skillet and stir in bread crumbs, garlic and thyme. Cook until bread crumbs begin to color, about 1 minute. Scrape into a bowl.

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Oil a large baking sheet.

On a floured surface, roll out dough into a 17-by-12-inch rectangle. Transfer to the baking sheet. With the long side facing you, spread half the bread crumbs evenly over right half of dough, leaving a ½-inch border. Top with half the cheese, then cover cheese with half the cabbage mixture. Repeat layers. Sprinkle ham over the top if desired.

Dab edges of dough with water. Fold left half over filling and use the tines of a fork to seal edges. Brush crust with egg yolk. Using a knife, cut several slits in the center of the top crust. Transfer pie to oven and bake until crust is golden brown and firm, 40 to 50 minutes. Cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Serve warm, or reheat before serving.

Excessive fines in Fellow Ode V2?

Excessive fines in Fellow Ode V2? I've had my Ode v2 for 6 moths now and probably have 15lbs through it. I've also got these supposedly amazing, fast draw down brew devices like the Orea, Timemore B75, and April.But they clog up almost every time I use them. I've used multiple grind sizes, from 5 through 7 and it's always the same story. I've done swirls, stirs, no swirl or stir, been extra careful about minimizing agitation, and used a Hario Drip assist for even water distribution. Oddly enough, my V60 seems fine most of the time.The only things I can think of is that it's either the Ode or my brew size (12grams for 200g water) is too small for the brewers, but that shouldn't be true of the Orea at least.Anyone else run in to excessive fines with their Ode? In the 12gram, the addition of Solar and Earth causes some problems, namely that there is a clash.

With those added, there are eight types and three dichotomies. So clearly, there should be one type in each combination. But this is not the case.

To have there be two in each category of positive/negative × active/passive, Earth must be passive and negative.

Solar is clearly non-personal, while Earth is personal.

But then, Saturn eclipses Solar and Lunar eclipses Earth.

While it would be possible to flip Earth and Solar, that's ridiculous.

I think the best solution is to flip Saturn into passive and negative, and make Earth active and positive.

The same could be done with Lunar and Solar, but a passive, negative Solar and an active, positive Lunar? Nah.

Saturn is hardly the most active or positive anyway. It's no Solar.

I just wanted to toke and read my book. but kept reading the same two pages. had to buy the audio book and spent 6 hours lot in that motherfucker. my face is numb. then ended up ordering take out from two different spots.
