ITS ABOUT THE BITTERSWEET JOY OF KNOWING THEIR STORY IS STILL WORTH TELLING.

REGARDLESS OF HOW IT ENDS.

if your story is only good when reading through it the first time? if the reading experience is spoiled by knowing what happens?? (pun fully intended) it's not that well crafted a story imo.

Sometimes it's not about what is going to happen. Sometimes it's about reinterpreting the characters. Sometimes it's about exploring themes through a story we already know.

Sometimes the storytelling is enhanced by knowing how it is going to end.

#which is always enhanced even more by a very unreliable (1st person) narrator imo #great example is #rebecca #daphne du maurier #the first thing we learn is that they are recluses. the first thing the reader finds out is *how it is going to end* #and it makes the tension in the end even higher. r they reclused bc they were caught and are fleeing? #did they manage to escape the accusations?? #similar thing with #wuthering heights #sry its just im listening to a booktuber reading #tsoa #madelline miller #and im not even a diehard fan #but they r complaining abt how the book maybe wouldve hit harder if thsy didnt know the original myth #and im like. I guess using a snippet of game grumps audio becomes a bit fucky when my character is also voiced by Arin lol (for clarification the only inserted GG audio is the "oh you wanna fuckin' fight?
