【意味】信じられない!驚いた！なにそれ！

【ニュアンス解説】Oh my God!や Jesus Christ!などと同じ表現です。マジで、本当に、びっくり！！という感情を表す言葉です。

【例文】

１．本当に！？とびっくりしたときに。

A. I decided to go abroad. （私、留学することに決めたわ）

B. Holy cow! Are you serious?

大きなリアクションをとりながら言ってみると、ネイティブっぽくなりますよ（笑）。

英語ペラペラになるには、フレーズを覚えるのが一番の近道です。

【意味】真似してるの？

【ニュアンス解説】人やモノに対して使います。

【例文】

１．真似してるの？（からかってるの？）と言いたいとき。

B. It's soooooo yummy!!! （超おいしいんだけどぉ～！）

A. ...Are you copying me? （真似してるの？）

しぐさや所有物などを相手にまねされた時に使う表現です。ふざけて使うことが多いですね。

【意味】どうでもいいよ。

【ニュアンス解説】別に、ふーん、そうなんだ・・・等々、自分に興味がないことを聞いた時に言います。

ワッを強めに言うと「あ、そー」といった感じが強く出ます。

【例文】

１．あ、そうなんだ、程度。

A. Steve got a promotion at his job, did you know that? （スティーブが昇進したって知ってた？）

B. Whatever. （あ、そう。）

２．興味ないなぁ、「あ、そう」と言いたい時。

A. I heard the comedian is getting divorced. （あのコメディアン離婚するらしいよ。）

B. Whatever. （そうなんだ。）

自分にとって全く無利益な情報を得たときに「まぁ、どうでもいいけどね」といった感じのニュアンスで使うことが多いです。

また、相手にとっても全く興味のなさそうな事を話してしまった場合にも、最後にwhateverを言うことによって、「あなたにとってはどうでもいい話だったね」と話を締めることもできます。

意味、というよりはニュアンスで覚えた方がいいですね。

【意味】乗り越える

【ニュアンス解説】困難を乗り越え前に進む、励ます時にも使えます。

【例文】

1.悩んでいる人に

We can get over this together!! （僕らと一緒に乗り越えられるさ！）

2.行き詰っている人に

A: There is nothing I can do. （もうお手上げだ、、）

B: But you got to do something to get over this. （でも何とかするためには何か手を打たないと）

壁や障害を乗り越える、は "get on"で乗り"get over"で乗り越えるそんなイメージで覚えておくといいかもしれません。

depress：へこむ ■今日のネイティブフレーズ￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣【フレーズ】depress《ディプゥレス》

【意味】へこむ、落ち込む、意気消沈する、（気分が）沈む。

【ニュアンス解説】落ち込んだ、へこんだ・・・という意味の言葉です。

【例文】

１．がっかりするようなことがあって落ち込んでいる時に。

A. I'm depressed... （へこんじゃった・・・。）

B. Are you ok? What happened? （大丈夫？何があったの？）

２．落ち込んでいる友達に対して。

A. You look depressed, are you alright? （落ち込んでいるみたいだけど、大丈夫？）

B. Just a little bit, I'll be fine soon, thanks. （ちょっとだけね、すぐ復活すると思う、ありがとう。）

友人が落ち込んでて心配するときや、自分が凄くへこんでいる時に使えるフレーズです。

【意味】おっと・・・

【ニュアンス解説】軽い失敗をした時に使う独り言のフレーズです。

【例文】

１．人に軽くぶつかってしまった時

Oops, sorry. (おっと、ごめんなさい)

２．こぼしちゃった時

Oops! I spilled some beer. (あー、ビールこぼしちゃった)

これも口癖ですね。

「あー！」「しまった！」という時に実際に言ってみてください。

ただ重大な失敗をした時はあまり使いません。（気休め程度に使うこともありますけど）

いろんな場面を想定して使ってみてくださいね。

無意識に「おっと！」じゃなくて「Oops!」と口をついて出るようになれば一人前です（笑）。

【意味】（その場から）離れる・去る・出ていく

【ニュアンス解説】色々な意味で頻出のフレーズです。今いるその場所から出て違う場所に行く、という状況の時に使います。

【例文】

１．出ていけ!と言いたい時。

Get out of here! （出て行ってくれ！）

２．店を出よう、というとき。

A. I can't find anything. Let's get out of here. （何もないな、出ようか。）

B. Ok. （了解。）

とにかく「Get out of here! 」はよく使いますが、発音に注意してくださいね。

get out of here ＝ゲットアウトオブヒアとならないように！ get out of here＝ゲラーリヒアという感じです。

Depend：～による ■今日のネイティブフレーズ￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣【フレーズ】Depend《ディペン》

【意味】～による、～次第。

【ニュアンス解説】時と場合による、状況によって判断する、というニュアンスで言いたい時に使います。

【例文】

１．日による、と言いたい時。

A. Do you want to go a new shopping mall with me in this weekend? （週末一緒に新しくできたショッピングモールに行かない？）

B. It depends…Saturday or Sunday? （曜日によるな…土曜日？日曜日？）

２．人による、と言いたい時。

A. I want to go to the new year's rock festival, you? （ニューイヤーロックフェスにいきたいなあ、キミは？）

B. I don't know. It depends. （さぁ、出場者によるかな。）

時と場合、つまり状況によって答えは変わってくる、と言いたい時に使います。 Itは「イッ」だけ発音するようにしましょう。

ネイティブもとても良く使いますので、そのまま覚えてしまいましょうね。

【意味】うわさをすれば影

【ニュアンス解説】誰かの話をしていたら本人が現れて・・・そんな時に使えるフレーズですが、その人をdevil と呼ぶのは悪意があるからではなく、あくまでも表現上のことなので、気��せずに使って大丈夫です。

【例文】

１．うわさをすれば・・・１．

A. Mr. Tanaka is one of the worst teachers I've ever met. （田中先生はこれまで出会った中でも最悪な先生の1人だわ。）

B. Shh...speak of the devil. Here comes the teacher. （シーッ。うわさをすれば影、先生が来たよ。）

Speak of the devil, and he's sure to appear. 「悪魔について話すと、必ず悪魔が現れる」という英語のことわざが短くなったものです。speak の代わりに talk も使われます。

【意味】やっぱり～に限るね！、すごくおいしかった、満足した

【ニュアンス解説】空腹感がタイミングよく満たされた時や、すごくおいしかった時に使います。自分の空腹スポットに、食べ物／飲み物が見事に命中＝ヒットしたという感じです。

【例文】

１．ホームメイド

A. How was the dessert? （デザートはどうだった？）

B. Your chocolate cake really hit the spot. （君のチョコレートケーキは最高においしかったよ。）

A. I'm glad you enjoyed it. （喜んでもらえてよかったわ。）

２．サウナの後のビール

A. Do you want some beer? （ビールどう？）

B. Thanks. That really hit the spot! （ありがとう。やっぱりビールに限るね！）

A. I agree. （同感。）

動詞が “hits” と現在形になっていないのは、この hit が過去形だからです。何かを食べた（飲んだ）後の感想になるので、過去形になります。
