i want to know more about your boiling hot takes about transfem dallas i am enamored 😇😇
alright here we go. this is gonna be a long one. tw for transphobia/dysphoria. these are just my own headcanons, some abt his family, etc. i’ll be using she/her and he/him interchangeably
Tumblr media
transfem dally hcs
okay so first off he goes by he/she/they, though he would melt inside if ppl started using she/her for him. i’d imagine it’d be from the gang
pretty much had a feeling she was trans since they were a kid, he stole his sister’s dolls and tried to put on his mother’s dresses when she wasn’t around. had to stop cuz he got caught by his older brother, who’s an ultra masculine douchebag
i feel like this’ll happen no matter what au he’s in (canon, modern au, 80’s or 90’s au, etc) considering he didn’t exactly have the best background
so he never got to explore their gender and was practically forced to shove it down and not tell anyone. ofc this led to him being very secretive and defensive abt his masculinity, where he dials it up extremely when he’s a teen. which is one of the reasons why he’s so angsty in the novel
also being masculine and putting up the tough guy act protected her from the rest of the world, and most importantly: being validated by men. even if she wants to distance herself away from masculinity, internally there will still be that conflict of wanting to be appealing to men
again no matter what au he’s in, i feel like there’d be transphobia everywhere. unfortunately
started growing out his hair and styled it like how those old 80’s supermodel’s used to do it, with the blow dryers and hairsprays. my fav portrayal of dallas is him having really poofy blonde hair (think @/felworthless’ art)
her hair is her pride. absolutely refuses to cut it
is actually quite proud of a little bit of her features, like her ears and her long eyelashes. likes being compared to an elf since elves are always seen as feminine. once somebody drunkenly said she looked like a fairy and her happiness levels? shot through the roof
i feel like she’d start wearing dresses and makeup as a joke on halloween and then continue to wear them in private
actually really likes hair clips. hair clips, berets, hairbands, etc. (if this is a 90’s au, she really likes those butterfly clips)
they would come out to the gang and i’d imagine they’d be confused but accepting
and he’d try coming out to tim who would go like
“we’ve been knew”
would steal sylvia’s perfume and makeup. she also likes smelling sweet, hence the extremely strong strawberry scent i hc she smells like
he wishes he was smaller tho. they feel like it’d be easier to pass if they were johnny or pony’s height
in the future i can see her as an adult either working odd jobs or in radio. i feel like she has that unhinged radio personality, like howard stern’s show in the 90’s
wouldn’t be out out considering the. absolutely difficult circumstances of being trans in the south but within the gang? yeah they’d be really happy. one of the actual few times they’d see them smile w/o it being menacing
likes pink things. pink or red things. also really likes stuffed animals
anything that’s “girly” or “feminine” he really likes
once he came out two-bits been calling him any blonde model he could think of (which was easy since there was a lot of platinum blonde models in the 50’s)
and she’s not opposed to it. not at all
even tried dressing up as marilyn monroe for halloween
in fact i think marilyn monroe and jayne mansfield gave her gender envy big time. maybe was the first time she really wanted to be them
overall. transfem dally my love

Btw yall know I'm rocking a mess of a hairstyle that has emo bangs. Think Frank iero revenge era even if they're not exactly that but whatever. But like I don't use hair straightener. Nor hairspray. And I don't blowdry because it is Unpleasant. And I don't remember the last time I used a brush
So like the only way I can keep these bangs situation in place is by putting on a hairband making sure the front is in shape whenever I wash my hair
so I just go around the house, hair semi dry looking like bullet era Mikey way got interested in 80's aerobics

thoughts on day 2 of 80's flash
after spending exactly 10 hours yesterday listening to this sonos 80's station, i have some observations and thoughts. i like the way it's programmed, however it is indeed not human-curated. i researched to find out that it is literally a collection of jams played on random as soon as the customer presses the play button on any radio station. not as sexy as the possibility of actual humans carefully placing these gems next to each other, but still an enjoyable listen.
what's especially cool about this as opposed to all other streaming venues i've listened to 80's from is there is a fuckton of variety in subgenre. i am lovvvvvvinnnn it. getting exposed to really good ones that i've never heard across the board in all the little nooks & crannies. the bots play debbie gibson shake your love, then queen latifah ladies first and then they play the gnar, dude-fueled girls girls girls hairband stuff that i don't exactly care for as much (but am still enjoying the change of flav!), and then peek a boo by siouxsie sioux all together in a set and it doesn't sound bad.
what's crazy is there are no radio stations on earth that would allow you to program like this that you would get paid actual money to do. here's the exception: you're a program director or other paid employee at a community radio station and you also host a radio show and that radio show is 2 hours of 80's deep cuts and your radio show happens to fall during working hours, thus getting paid to do that work. otherwise, no. there are no 80's public radio stations. there's only 80's commercial radio stations that keep karma chameleon, wake me up before you go-go, heaven is a place on earth, don't you forget about me, and i've had the time of my life on mind-numbingly loop (sidetone: i personally love those songs). there's no variety in the commercial stations that's why they suck, but it also sucks that a job to do that - program the enjoyable jams - is scarce as f.
even though it is indeed bots djing on sonos, i'd like to think an actual human had to choose all of those songs and dump them in the big jams factory that spits out all the sick ass playlists, right? one can hope......

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter.
Aries
Before you take your boat out on the water, it’ll be a good idea to check it for any structural problems. It’s possible to have rot happen almost anywhere - so check not JUST the hull, but the mounting for the engine. Unless you like the idea of setting up a mast and tacking your way back into port. And if you don’t know what that means, you shouldn’t be on the water anyway. And check the prop, too! Remember, the restraining nut is left-hand threaded.
Taurus
Roses are Red, Violets are not. Oranges are orange and super-expensive Canon SLR lenses are grey with a red ring. This isn’t a poem or a limerick. Hell, it’s barely coherent prattle. If you wanted a helpful Horrible-scope you should have asked for one. So you get what you paid for and you better be satisfied with that, because we’re not giving you a do-over here.
Gemini
Before it gets too hot and wild-fire-y, get your bicycle outfitted with a small trailer because you’re going on a Pack-Mule Vacation! A single-person tent, little propane stove, aluminum camping cooking gear, and lots of drink will make for a great week! Just plan out your path ahead of time, get a mount for your telephone, and a deep-cycle lead-acid battery for your Ham Radio gear while you’re at it. If you don’t have any of that gear already, save your money and just go bowling every day for a week. It’s air conditioned and there’s a bar.
Cancer Moon-Child
With the summer comes the need for better cooling at home. You built your last computer not too long ago, you know how to make a static pressure box; just do the same with your house. A couple of box fans in different windows will keep the air flowing so you don’t overheat. And if you’re not sure how that works, just open your old Fluid Dynamics books from college, since, you know… They wouldn’t let you sell them back to the school after you paid almost $300 for them! Cheap Bastards!
Leo
With the rewind of the 80’s, neon colouring is all the rage again. Do some creative sewing and you can make your own TRON: Legacy inspired clothing. Just remember that E.L. Wire needs a battery pack, and poorly made batteries can overheat. Remember the Galaxy Note 7? There’s still about four months before Hallowe’en - you can make this in time.
Virgo
Here’s something for you to ponder; Punk Rockers like to buck the system - so would one try to learn how to play the cello sidesaddle? It’s not impossible, you know. Hell, there’s a marching harness for an Irish harp, so why not, right? This week consider learning how to read music… or does Duolingo not offer that?
Libra
There are D.I.Y. hacks for virtually everything these days - including for guitars. For instance, bass players will wrap an elastic hairband at the top of their strings to deaden the sounds. But for guitars you can take a folded up office note cube sheet, thread it through the bottom of the strings and make it sound like a sitar! That would have saved The Beatles a lot of LSD and a trip to India to get that sound. This week cancel your trip to India and buy some Post-It Notes™ instead.
Scorpio
Eight Months. You have only Eight Months to figure out what you’re doing for Valentine’s Day. You screwed up last time with flowers that your beau was allergic to, so you need to bring your “A”-Game this Spring. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just shouldn’t have a metal plate welded on it that says, “KitchenAid” this time.
Sagittarius
Back in the day, you could only photo-copy papers about four generations before they became illegible. With video tapes it was about the same. But once Digital Music hit the shelves that was all out the window. The only way the studios had to battle it was to intentionally screw with mass-distributed files or install back-door software on Windows computers. OH, Sony! How we love how your legal team went to collective vacation that year. And to think, one way of stopping that software was to use a black Sharpie on the outside track of the CD.
Capricorn
The Summer of Love was back in the 1960’s. It was less about sex and more about actually loving each-other and ourselves. Wouldn’t it be nice to have another Summer of Love, but focused on sex this time? You’re thinking about it already, aren’t you? We can tell. Everybody? Look at the giant smile Capricorn has right now. Those are the whitest teeth we’ve ever come across! Your dental technician must be proud of you!
Aquarius (Nice)
In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio wasn’t actually from an alternate universe, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there really is a Multiverse, and in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that Multiverse is based around Spider-Man; doesn’t matter if it’s Peter Parker, Ben Parker, Penny Parker, Peter Porker, Miles Morales, or Miguel O'Hara. You know what this means? It means Marvel Comics has been teaching kids about theoretical physics and alternate timelines based on one of the saddest people in their universe. This week watch all the Spider-Man TV shows you can find. Especially the Japanese one!
Pisces
There’s nothing wrong with wearing heeled boots and nylon stockings when you go horseback riding. The heels keep your stirrups in place and the stockings will keep your knees from rubbing raw. Look, if it’s good enough for William Shatner to suggest it to Sir Patrick Stewart, it’s good enough for you too. Just remember to wear more than JUST boots and stockings, ok?
And THOSE are your Hobble-Scopes for this week! Remember if you liked what you got, we’re obviously not working hard enough at these. BUT! If you want a better or nastier one for your own sign or someone else’s, all you need to do to bribe me is just Let Me Know! These will be posted online at the end of each week via Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Discord.
