my brother discovered there is a kosher Georgian restaurant in Queens and like. I haven't properly visited NYC since early 2020 - most of my friends there have visited DC instead - but man I kind of need to go to that.

Hob is a chef who owns a food truck selling authentic Indian food, and Dream is someone who doesn't really eat well. (He had a bad breakup a year ago and it caused him to eat less. He's trying to eat better with his siblings' help.)

Dream agrees to go with Death to one of those food truck fairs for her birthday. There's not a lot of people yet so some of the staff offer them free samples to entice them into eating more from their food truck.

Death is having the time of her life, and she thanks Dream for going with her even if this isn't his thing at all.

Dream says that he enjoys the atmosphere (a.k.a. no huge crowds yet) and appreciates the aesthetic of the food they have already eaten: the understated elegance of the mango bingsoo, the dancing bonito flakes on top of the takoyaki, and the satisfying cheese pulls from the megruli khachapuri.

Death, encouraged by his interest, asks him to pick another food that he likes the aesthetic of so they could try it next. Like before, it's understood that they'll share a serving so Dream doesn't have to worry if he can't eat a lot.

Dream agrees. He picks an appetizing-looking plate of butter chicken from a foodtruck selling Indian food near the edge of the fair grounds, where not a lot of people have ventured yet.

They are greeted enthusiastically by a very handsome man and Death does all the talking because Dream is distracted by his forearms and smile and manbun. (He's salivating, so he must be hungry. Right?)

The handsome man turns out to be both the chef and the owner, and he chats with Death while he prepares the food. His name is Hob. He quit his job at a fancy hotel because he wants to feel more connected with his customers and share the food that he loves cooking for his family. (Dream is falling for him the more he talks. He doesn't realize that he has yet to speak and has only been staring.) (Hob is highly intimidated by him but also thinks he's cute.)

The food is served. Death takes her first bite and says something like 'holy shit dude wow this is great' and Hob is just about to thank her when Dream takes his first bite and lets out the most sinful moan Hob has ever heard this side of his laptop screen.

He is (understandably) frozen in place, staring at this beautiful man devour his food while sounding like a porn star. He may or may not be violating food safety standards by getting hard in his jeans in the truck's kitchen area.

Death is astonished because Dream has never shown this much enthusiasm while eating before. Even when they were kids. She is now looking at Hob speculatively. Should she google 'how to politely ask a stranger to (please) marry your brother'?

Dream...honestly doesn't even notice anything other than how delicious the food tastes. When the plate is clean, and Death has only gotten to take that single bite at the start, he reddens and apologizes, but Death waves it off, and Hob says something like, "I have some dessert too, if you want."

Dream unconsciously licks his lips and says, "Please," in a voice that could either mean 'Yes, please, I want some dessert,' or 'Fuck me raw right now.'

Death, immediately picking up on the sexual tension, says, "We'd like some kulfi, but I'll take mine to go."

And Dream is like, "Sister, what--?"

"I just remembered Desire and I have an appointment to get our nails done so I have to go--oh, thanks, Mr. Gadling--bye Dream, love you, be safe!" And then she's gone.

Dream is left with Hob who is still holding the other kulfi in his hand, looking slightly stunned at Death's very abrupt exit. The kulfi is starting to melt. Dream, unthinkingly, leans forward and sucks the tip.

They both freeze and their eyes meet, Dream's pink mouth still on the kulfi. Hob gulps at the visual. Dream, still maintaining eye contact, licks it from base to tip, then starts sucking in earnest, eyes steadily darkening when he sees Hob's breathing becoming unsteady.

Hob hears some footsteps coming their way, potential customers from the sound of it. Hob hands Dream his kulfi and apologizes to the customers, saying that something came up and he has to close. Like, right now. Sorry for the inconvenience but this is really important.

He closes up in record time while Dream taunts him by enjoying his dessert. He's already sitting on the passenger seat of the truck when Hob climbs into the driver's seat.

Desire's text the next day reads: 'DREAM YOU SLUT IM SO PROUD OF YOU'

Destruction for some reason knows Hob's number and has texted: 'Break my brother's heart and I'll break your spine.'

Dream slowly but surely begins to eat better. How can he not, with all the support he has, and Hob there to love him even on his bad days?

Hob gets everyone's approval, even Destruction's, eventually. He's the best cook and most considerate brother-in-law ever.

When Dream passes by his ex while walking down the street one day, he realizes that he's alright now, and is definitely better off without them. He's actually thankful, because if not for them, then he might not have even met Hob. He doesn't greet them because he still hasn't forgiven them, but he also doesn't feel like bursting into tears anymore.

At the end of the day, when he gets back home, Hob is there to welcome him with a sweet kiss, a warm meal, and a lifetime full of love.

Three-Scuttle Bread Boat

There's nothing quite as indulgent as the scuttle bread boat, also known by the Telvanni as khachapuri. The traditional use of three types of scuttle, said to represent the Tribunal, is almost obscene for the average working Dunmer, making khachapuri a treat rather than an everyday meal. Topped with a cliff racer or kwama egg, this mouthwatering bread boat is best served immediately! Serves four.

You will need:

Bread:

1 tsp dry yeast

270g plain flour

55ml water

200ml milk

1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for greasing

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

Filling:

2 eggs (one whisked, for brushing)

80g mature cheddar, grated

80g fresh mozzarella, chopped

80g feta, crumbled

1 tbsp butter

Crushed dried chilis or chili powder to serve, optional (and non-traditional)

Method:

Combine the yeast, sugar, salt, and flour. In a pan, bring the milk and water to a gentle simmer (you should be able to touch the water without burning yourself, about 25C/77F) and pour into the dry ingredients. Knead until smooth and stretchy, at least 15 minutes.

Add the olive oil to your dough, and knead for another 3-5 minutes so it sinks in. Pop the dough into a well-oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and leave to rise in a warm spot (out of direct sunlight) for an hour.

When the dough is about double in size, punch it down, then leave it to rise again for another 30 mins. When ready, shape the dough into a large oval, then roll flat until about 1/2cm thick.

For the filling, simply combine the cheeses and sprinkle into the boat. Sprinkle 1/3 of the cheese in a thick, neat line on the left side of the dough, and another 1/3 on the right. Take the edge of the dough and roll it over the cheese, then roll the outside diameter inwards gently a couple of times to form a raised lip. Sprinkle the rest of the filling in the middle.

This will therefore be a stuffed crust to start, as well as a method of keeping the outer edges raised! Finally, pinch or twist the ends together to a sharp point. This will help to contain the filling when it melts. Whisk one egg and brush over the entire bread, filling and all, until glossy.

Bring your oven to 230C/450F and bake on the middle shelf for 15 minutes, until the bread is firm and the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven, and make a deep well in the middle of the cheese by pressing down with a tablespoon. Scatter butter over the cheese. Crack the last egg into the well and return to the oven for 3-5 minutes, until the egg white is slightly cooked but still runny.

To serve, vigorously whisk together the cheese and egg with a fork until entirely combined (the egg will continue to cook in the hot cheese). Simply tear the bread apart with your hands to eat and dip. Sprinkle with dried chilis or chili powder if desired.

What are your fave nyc places to eat? I'm visiting there soon and I want some new places to try

Oh this is my favorite subject. OK. Pause on everything else. As a disclaimer my favorite thing to do is dine out solo and eat at the bar with whatever paperbacks have been floating around in my bag. So my recommendations are geared toward that purpose. Off the top of my head:

Good Fucking Luck getting in but Dhamaka if you can manage. It's just that good. I am a ramen junkie and believe that Ippudo NY still has the best bowl of tonkotsu in the city, but I am also fond of Ichiran, Ivan Ramen, Momosan, and of course the OG Momofuku Noodle Bar. Other kinds of noodles: Xi'an Famous Foods remains legit, and get the sesame noodles + everything else at Hwa Yuan. A bowl of pasta and a negroni at I Sodi is one of my favorite luxuries. No No No has solid yakitori and ramen/sushi to boot. Cocoron on Delancey for curry dipping soba. Dirty French for slutty bistro fare and people-watching.

Darbar Grill is my favorite Indian buffet in Midtown; not that you should spend a lot of time in Midtown. Taste From Everest has really delicious, affordable Nepali food in Curry Hill. Ma La Project is old reliable for me and my mom on theater nights. You do in fact have to eat at Katz's Deli if you haven't yet, just go at like midnight after you've seen a show at Bowery Ballroom and you're hammered. Get khachapuri and a tarragon soda at Oda House. Somtum Der has Isan Thai cuisine that will knock your socks off and you absolutely MUST order the grilled coconut rice which comes on skewers and you can dip it into a pot of spicy broth from one of your other entrees. Heaven.

Ask game: Kvara! Appreciating that he is not a character

Not a character, but a true footballing personality!

1. Favourite thing about them:

God, everything. He dribbles like no one dribbles in modern football anymore. He's more than a winger, he is a true playmaker. I really do love myself a versatile attacking player with great, beautiful technique.

Apart from that? His fluffy messy hair, his shy little raspy voice, his baby cow eyes... I am not okay 😭

2. Least favourite thing:

Do I have one? I don't know, I am a type of person to find it really funny even when he dives or lashes out on other players. I support his wrongs 😂.

3. Favourite line:

Today I saw a video from before the Supercup. They asked him some quick, short questions. When asked to "describe himself in one word", he said "Georgian" 😂😂😂. Legendary.

Moving to Serie A made him much more comfortable with sexuality in general. From enjoying physical touch with his male friends to slowly thirst trapping us by showing more and more of his body (the rolled up shorts 🥵).

He knows how to cook and bake. After I saw a video of him baking khachapuri in some TV programme, I imagine him bringing some food he made to trainings in Napoli, and sharing with the team (to the horror of his teammates' personal agents who planned out their diets 😂).

That's two headcanons.

8. Unpopular opinion:

I'm afraid he's not going to have a great career in football beyond what he already has. I know a lot of Kvara fans would be angry with me for that, but it's just... His opponents in Serie A learnt how to read him and his signature moves. If he doesn't get more creative, he'll turn mediocre. Maybe Napoli in general in this season is also to blame for Kvara not shining as bright as he used to.

💖 Has your OC ever been in love, be it romantic or platonic or otherwise? Who with and did they ever express their feelings or keep it private? How long did these feelings persist / do they still feel this way?

Ahhh Teutho's love life, truly one of the most incomprehensible things known to both man and vampire...

One of these days I might post the whole story, but here's the abridged version:

Teutho dated Mordecai for a very long time, he was his first mate in more than just the nautical way. There was a time when they both loved each other genuinely, but that love had turned into unhealthy codependence by the time they finally broke up, about a thousand years later.

Meanwhile, when he was still human, Teutho thought he had also fallen in love with his vampiric sire, Malakos, but that was really a coping mechanism and he wasn't actually in love with him. He lied to Malakos, said "I love you's" to protect himself and Mordecai, but said it so much he started to believe his own lies.

Later Teutho dated Vivian as well. He loved both Mordecai and Vivian, but treated them very poorly, it was a manipulative sort of love where he often pitted them against each other.

Vivian left, and then Mordecai, and Teutho still pursued them but more out of feelings of possession than actual love. Even after all traces of romantic feeling had faded, he still sought ways to get revenge on them for leaving.

Finally Teutho met Sirena. At first he pursued her only out of spite against her family, and he treated her just as poorly as he did Mordecai and Vivian.

But Sirena was able to beat Teutho at his games, win over his crew to mutiny him, and imprison him for years. During that time Teutho realized the error of his ways, and more importantly, that he had been wasting his time running around on Sirena when she was the most important person in the whole of existence.

Sirena freed Teutho, but he returned to her and begged for a place in her crew, a place at her side. It was a surprise to everyone including Teutho when she agreed. And little by little they both fell in love, into a love more true and strong than any Teutho had ever felt before.

Before Sirena, Teutho was always very strategic with the expression of his feelings and his confessions of love. With Mordecai, he confessed first knowing it would let him set the pace of their relationship. With Vivian, he let her come to him, so she would feel everything that followed was her own fault. With Malakos, it was a defense mechanism.

But finally, with Sirena, it was simply the honest truth and he said it readily. Knowing Sirena, Teutho fully expected she might use his love against him. But what other option was there than to say it? To Teutho, his love for Sirena is a truth so cosmic and powerful that to be silent on it is impossible.

🍆 Tea or Coffee or Hot Chocolate? Sweet or Spicy? Fruits or Vegetables?

Teutho prefers human blood to most human drinks or foods. But if he was forced to be human again for a day he'd like tea, specifically yerba mate with the metal straw; sweet over spicy; and fruits over vegetables. He'd like citrus and lemon since sailors need those to live. A nostalgic dish for him would be khachapuri (cheese bread).

🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?

The best voice claim I've found so far for Teutho is Matthew Rhys (Belos from the Owl House). Teutho has a smooth voice that would lure people in. In terms of vocal mannerisms I imagine he speaks like Lestat from IWTV where he'll weave through conversations like a cat and pepper in French. Teutho has a laugh that can go from light and charming to sounding insane. He's a good singer, though he pales in comparison to his literal siren wife.

Teutho is very good at learning languages to the point where he can speak them near-flawlessly, without an accent. But much like his old buddy Mordecai, when he gets especially pissed off or flustered his Georgian accent will slip out. Unlike Mordecai who will just get embarrassed about this and try to hide it again, Teutho will immediately attempt to gaslight you into thinking you didn't hear an accent at all...
