on another but related note, I love watching students react to Jennifer Ehle’s Elizabeth because she’s beautiful, truly, but she’s also real person beautiful not supermodel beautiful or Instagram filtered beautiful and as teenagers they do have their petty not at all valid but not at all their fault reaction to her kind of beauty, to the reality of it, where they rebel against even having to look at a Real Woman for a second (because the indoctrination and propoganda they have flooded into their brains every day is actually that bad and that damaging that looking at a gorgeous but still real 24 year old Jennifer Ehle makes their brains go on the fritz for a second) and then she and the story win them over. On the whole at least. And they have that moment of experiencing art meeting reality and discovering that it’s good. And I LOVE that.

Do you think Toothless ever grumbles and is sarcastic in his internal monologue and then goes: "Great. I must be exhausted I'm starting to sound like Hiccup."
Hiccup building a gadget in the forge two meters away: "Did you just make fun of me?"
Toothless grumbling about how it's a long time past midnight and they should be asleep, can't Hiccup tinker in the morning or something
Hiccup: "No one is forcing you to be here, Toothless."
Toothless howls at the other and glares. Hiccup glares back. They're having a glaring contest at two in the morning.
Moments later, Berk's heir is being dragged back to the hut by his sleeve by a dark creature that almost blends into the shadows save for annoyed vivid green eyes as the boy argues with the Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death Itself in hushed grumbles.

Dude this show has ruined me, I'm remembering the time someone was ranting to me that they just watched the latest episode of a show they were watching, and it left off on a cliffhanger so they couldn't wait to see the next episode, and I was like "omg no! Do you at least know when it's coming out?" And they were like "yeah? Next week?" tfw you remember that most shows do, in fact, have normal airing schedules

microdosing on the tlt tag has been earth-shattering because it came with the revelation that my experience of being siren song'd into finally reading the series by ianthe tridentarius's abject dysfunction only be dashed against the rocks of her unanticipated tenderness was not universal

FYI when it comes to trauma processing, sometimes one of the healthiest and productive decisions you can make is to ACTIVELY choose to avoid and not address an issue right now even if you "should"
Its easy to get caught in the "talk about it, use therapy productively, if you aren't doing anything, you aren't Doing Anything" and, while compulsive habitual avoidance typically causes temporary stagnation, ACTIVE acknowledgement that you are CHOOSING to ignore it and avoid it because you are CHOOSING to give yourself space and time is such a fundamental skill to emotional awareness, self regulation, self compassion, and rebuilding trust within yourself to maintain your own boundaries even when you feel that you "should" ignore them
Actively choosing to not address a topic at the moment is good practice at saying "I am not ready and I need more time and for that reason I am going to actively refuse to engage in this topic at the current moment" which helps so immensely at being more mindful of your own needs and emotional states which can be hard as someone with C-PTSD
Sometimes the best and most healing thing you can do for yourself is Nothing.

it's important to remember that platonic relationships can be just as impactful as romantic relationships. this will help you take full advantage of all potential relationship drama in your writing.

people on that one post really seem to think I meant "obsession" in the sense of, I guess, "really interested in" and not in the sense of "fixation in a toxic bad vibes juice marinade" and it's not going to stop annoying me anytime soon

#I really like the “We're the bad guys' enemy” line. For someone I generally despise Dazai has all my favourite lines in this show…#Idk I can't really vibe with the unbalance that there is between s/kk.#Like when push comes to shove‚ Dazai has the power to keep Chuuya alive or let him die.#I understand why they make a compelling dynamic in their complexity‚ but it just doesn't do it for me.#I'm a little sad my opinion on them hasn't really changed since I watched the anime for the first time...#Also; I really can't vibe with Chuuya allowing Dazai to kill Q. Yes I know Chuuya cares about his comrades deeply.#Yes I know it can be interpreted as Chuuya seeing himself in Q as a living weapon and being disgusted by it#(though I honestly don't think that was intentional of the author).#Yes I know Chuuya is a mafioso and kills people. No I don't think your personal issues justify you being a dick to other people I'm sorry.#Back to my main annoyance with the episode: I must have already talked about this but I hate hate hate the narrative#“the mafia works for the city” “the mafia deeply loves the city too” it's so so sickening and insulting please stop I'm begging.#Please visit any actual city with a rooted mafia presence for once in your life (signed: someone whose hometown was destroyed by the mafia.#The writers really don't know what they're talking about and‚ politely‚ it's offensive.)#Also b/sd keeping being extremely nationalist with Mori (who's largely depicted unsimphatetically for the first part of the episode)–#bringing up western thinkers and subtly mocking Fukuzawa for not knowing them–#and Fukuzawa (the righteous man. the noble spirit and just soul in this episode and Mori's antithesis)–#stepping forward to say that he knows strategists from the east (because who else would he need?)#I don't know if it's meant to symbolize the conflict with an hostile and invading foreign power (the Guild).#But it does come across as. A very isolationist way of thinking.#I know it's subtle but it's really evident for me. And I didn't want to talk about this any further…#But by bringing actual examples of this I hope I can better explain why I think that b/sd holds nationalist views–#and that I'm not just making it up out of nowhere. Otherwise I fear I'd only come off as pettily hostile to b/sd in everything#That's it. I feel like I've been losing a lot of mutuals over my main recently due to not shutting up (sorry)#so I suppose it's only fair I lose them on here too pffttt.#Tune in next week for more bad takes#random rambles

I think apologism is fun and sexy but sometimes you see people defend a character in a way that is not just wrong but antithetical to the character's actual motivations and moral framework like girl. Not even the guy you're defending thinks you're right. You are getting fired as his defense lawyer and sued for misrepresentation.

I feel like Tim and Munkustrap interactions would be really cute. Idk why. I feel they're used to being the "straight men" (I use this term extremely loosely) to Steve's goofy antics, and even though they get tired of his shenanigans sometimes, they're still super protective of him.

this is not what's going to happen and frankly neither is it what he deserves, but my one wish for augustine (my personal locked tomb babygirl and poor little meow meow) in alecto the ninth is for him to come sauntering out of hell wearing flip flops and a hawaiian shirt, possibly holding a drink with a little umbrella in it, going 'after ten thousand years of dealing with this fucking family a trip to the darkest depths of hell was a goddamn vacation and to be honest I resent the interruption'. despite his many many (many many many) sins this man has had to put up with john's bullshit for longer and more intimately (ahaha) than almost anyone else and I simply feel like that should make him eligible for SOME kind of compensation, emotionally

I JUST FIGURED OUT WHY I HATE ROSE
I. started writing this and closed it there but I figured it out!!
she fills the exact same narrative role as hikari does in digimon adventure 01. and I HATED how they handled hikari
they are very very similar characters in how they are written. powerful girls who join the main cast late but still have the same amount of power growth the main characters have had (for hikari that being her partner digimon, who should be child level to fit in with everyone else's, is permanently at the adult stage) and they are the solution to a huge problem, and happen to be more mature than someone their age would be
I do prefer manga rose's design as I get a bit weirded out by characters who are drawn too childish but personally I would her writing should have been handled a little differently, she has been asleep for all this time and she would be confused and need reintegrating into everything but she would still mentally also be a child. I'm not a huge fan of "they are this young but they act like an adult" curse all writers seem to have when it comes to their younger characters because they cannot remember how children act at specific ages but it would have done her better to be a bit more childish and selfish I think (this goes for hikari too!!) instead of taking care of her older brother
this might seem a bit loose and open ended I'm not sure how to end it but I DEFINITELY have thoughts on this series
