I have a whole au living in my brain abt if yuma lives lmao. Maybe I'll sketch or talk abt it if anyone's interested.

Also, a theory I've been keeping to myself for years bcuz it's probably wrong:

Amo is the black trigger assassin. HEAR ME OUT !! I can't be the only one who's thought abt this at least a bit, right????

1. We haven't seen Amo's black trigger yet.

For triggers being so prominent, why haven't we seen Amo's? During Afto's invasion, we could have seen Amo's trigger, but we only got to see the aftermath. We also have no idea how he came into possession of it. We know it's VERY strong and VERY destructive. Kind of like an assassin we've heard of, yes? The assassin tore Yuma apart in a second, but it was only in like, small blasts? for lack of a better term. So the two are different in that aspect, but it's also been years since then, so Amo could have the room to improve.

2. Yuma hasn't met Amo yet.

Yuma has met like, almost everyone? Or has heard or seen them in passing? We've seen most of the squads, and were seeing more in the away missions test right now, and how they fight, their motives, and their skill level. Like, Yuma knows Amo exists, I'm pretty sure Amo knows Yuma exists, and yet they haven't met. Somehow. Seems kinda sus to me.

3. Kind of stupid, but Amo's hair and the assassin's is a little similar lmao.

Self explanatory. They do look different, but there's a three year difference, so yea.

4. We know next to nothing abt Amo.

We know his age, what he looks like, that he's anti-social, and doesn't really know how to reign in his power or that he really cares to. BUT we have no idea who is parents are, or WHERE he came from, or even when he joined border (that I can remember). He could be a neighbor, but he very may well be not.

5. We don't know what the assassin looks like.

We could chalk it to Yuma's memory, having the flashback being from his perspective and only seeing the assassin for a split second, but it also leaves a TON of possibilities of who they can be.

All of these put together COULD be deliberate. There has to be a reason!!! Like, waiting for a big reveal. Amo's mysterious nature really puts him up to be anything. But it really could just be that they haven't met yet because of simple reasons, and Amo is just some normal kid with a black trigger.

Like, this theory popped into my head one day as a what if, and since then, I've been running with it lmao. A lot of it is speculation. But I know that it can fall apart pretty easily, so I won't be surprised if it turns out I'm completely wrong.

But I also won't be surprised if I turn out to be right 😎

I hope I explained it at least somewhat coherently 😭

Savanaclaw: Leona other than heehee hoohoo pretty lion man i kind of relate to him as well??? he has this "i give up, what's the point" attitude but at the same time i believe there's still something at the back of his mind that still wants and believes there's "hope" of being something more that's just how i interpret his character tbh bro also seems to have a soft spot for the first years (jack and epel specifically i believe) and i think that's cute

Octavinelle: Jade i honestly just like the idea that he might be more insane than floyd but people assume he's the more reserved twin because of how he carries himself

Octavinelle: Floyd to be honest my feelings about the octatrio are pretty neutral so in terms of favorites they're all on the same level ;;; but to explain, i chose floyd because i kind of disliked him in the beginning but i learned to appreciate his character more until he's in the same level as azul and jade

Scarabia: Kalim KALIM IS LIKE A CLOSE SECOND TO JAMIL IN TERMS OF FAVORITE and considering they're just two people i really have no other choice - kalim ;;; my beloved sunshine boy it's weird labeling you as least favorite scarabia character

THANK YOU! <3 That's extremely kind of you, anon. I don't think my fic is even close to deserving such high praise honestly, but I'm honoured to hear you think that. 😭

I shall preface this by saying that I'm not a professional writer by any means; just an amateur who has zero chill for an unpaid hobby. I'm also a character-focused person first before world-focused, so my opinion is going to biased.

The main rule I keep to heart: Instead of treating worldbuilding as an element to be balanced equally with other elements (plot, characters, relationship etc), I weave it into the story. If characters and plot make up the meat of a story, then worldbuilding is the spice that you sprinkle on for flavour.

Essentially, what this means in practice is: show information about the world gradually through the lens of the characters. The world is not just there; it's also lived in by the characters, and you want to show it as such. Personally, I do this by leaving in details that insinuate at things about the world. In my fic, I could have started with two paragraphs about how Larnion and Kupa Keep are now kingdoms co-existing after winning the war over the Stick a century ago, and that in present day Larnion, there's an underlying inequality between humans and elves + tension among the noble elves... but I chose not to. Instead, I tried to show that information through details in the prologue:

The Great Ball, Princess Kenny and Prince Kyle meeting -> implies that Kupa Keep and Larnion are on good enough terms that they can hold events like this and make their respective heirs meet.

"Stan was officially recognised as a knight-in-training, earning the approval of a friendly elf royal knight who was on good terms with the Broflovskis." -> This one is easy to miss, but it implies that maybe, just maybe, not all elves are on good terms with the ruling family... hm.

The bonfire, that the Broflovski House is lenient towards humans, the fact that Broflovskis adopt human children, that elves applauded at Stan's knighting ceremony. - it's enough to imply that on some level, elves are amicable to humans, BUT AT THE SAME TIME:

An elf guard who had accused Stan of being a spy from Kupa Keep, the fact there weren't any humans among the knighthood, even Stan getting convicted of treason without a chance to defend himself.... all of those insinuate that's clear inequality between humans and elves in Larnion. It makes one wonder then, if this is how some elves view humans in their realm, how do they actually Kupa Keep, their supposed allies, then? 🤔

The point of all those details was to carry a vague sense that even years before the main plot (Prince Kyle under assassination attempts) started, there was something already off with the political climate in Larnion (and perhaps Zaron for that matter). I do hope that came across. :'))

The question is, then: how do you come up with these details to sprinkle in?

Easy: lots of research, and whenever you come up with a piece of lore, think about its implications. How does that piece affect your setting? How would it show up in your world? How does it affect your characters (if it does?) Put yourself in the shoes of a different persona (king, commoner, knight etc) and think about what their daily life would look like.

If your kingdom hunts dragons on the regular, you may want to show how knights wear armour crafted from dragon scales, or how there's honour given to dragonslayers.

If the heir is under assassination attempts, then maybe you want to show how the castle gates are closed and how there's more guards running around as usual, commoners gossiping...

If Zaron has an all-powerful object - the Stick of Truth - then you want to think about: has the Stick been used in the past, and if so, for what? How do different types of people view the Stick (do some people view it as an ultimate solution that can solve... or are there some who believe it should never be touched?) Are there perhaps mages dedicated to studying such a powerful object? Does everyone seek its power?

If humans and elves fought over the Stick in the past and are now allies, think about that alliance looks like in practice: are there diplomats? Are the heirs arranged for a political marriage? Maybe they have a trading route? Is one kingdom perhaps still traumatised from the scars of the war? How much do they really trust each other If an elf lived in Kupa Keep, would they have an easy life? Same question applies to a human who lives in Larnion.

It can be overwhelming so it helps to have one document dedicated to keeping track of these details. :) And again, do your research and look at other fantasy fiction for inspiration!!

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’ll be overwhelmed by sadness. He is used to losing people he loves and cares about, and while your death has a significant impact on him, and it takes him longer to comprehend what happened, in the end, it’s just another death added to a long line of losses.

So much tragedy has happened around him in the past few years that it has made him numb. Still, he’ll mourn your death and will blame himself for being away from you the moment it happened. The last thing he could do was to be there for you in your final moments, at least. He wanted to hold you in his arms during your final breath, to comfort you until your pain would permanently stop, and to warm you. The image of you sitting there all alone while everything goes dark, without him to comfort you, rips him apart.

He’d go after the people who hurt you and kill them. It provides a short-term relief until he finds himself all alone again. After he finishes his task, he’ll organize a private funeral.

Losing people he loves has become a part of him since it happens so often. When he lost you, he felt that familiar hopeless feeling. I’m not talking about feeling helpless in front of the fact that he lost you, but in front of life itself for taking you from him so soon.

If only he wasn’t away on a mission, he could’ve held you one last time.

Chris Redfield

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’d be overwhelmed by anger. He got the news over the phone and began to ask a lot of questions. He didn't believe it at first until he received some proof. He felt an intense wave of anger hit him and hung up. He’ll scream and curse his days for not being able to protect you.

Chris was also your captain. At first he had a bad feeling about the mission you wanted so desperately to go on, and at first he didn’t let you, but you pledged, and he allowed you to leave.

He’ll cup his head and cry. He’s in his office where no one can hear or see him, so he’s safe. Chris began to make a list of suspects that could do this to you, but the more he thought about it, the bigger it became. The prime suspect would be his archnemesis, Albert Wesker. Without wanting to risk anyone's safety, he quit his job and assembled a small team with very skilled and trusty people to go and find the killer.

Albert Wesker

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’d be overwhelmed by grief. He doesn’t "feel" emotions like a normal human. He was numb until he met you, and he still had a long way to go, so the intensity with which he felt the grief was overwhelming. He could barely keep his composure. The worst part is that you were the only person able to help him control his emotions, and you weren’t there anymore.

He’ll hunt down the people involved in your death, and he’ll do it by himself, which isn’t something he usually does. Whenever he has to deal with sensitive issues such as assassinations or spying, he simply hires someone to do the dirty work. However, being a personal matter, Wesker feels that only he can properly avenge what was between the two of you. A last act of love made a widow partner.

Once he gets revenge, he’ll collapse on the cold, bloody floor. It was no surprise that it was a fast job given his powers. However, that relieving feeling he thought he’d experience once he finished everyone never came. He felt even more emaciated, and the guilt was pressing on him like never before. He found himself surrounded by corpses, and that made him realize his vendetta was in vain and that he wasn’t coming back too soon. Tears began to roll down his cheeks as he let all of that grief come out. He allowed himself to be weak one more time before facing the ultimate truth: the fact that he wouldn’t see you again. For that, he’ll need a lot of strength.

Jake Muller

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’d be overwhelmed by resentment. Like his father, he won’t show his emotions, but deep down he’ll be a mess.

He’ll hunt down the men that hurt you. This quest drained him, but the thought of having the bastards at gunpoint kept him going, and it didn’t take long. He was there, eyes fixated on the gun barrel that was pressing over their foreheads. Jake had that spark in his eyes, one that highlighted his desire to fulfill his revenge. However, he couldn’t pull the trigger. Like it or not, you made him a better person. In the heat of the moment, he got a tiny moment of clarity in which he realized that killing them wouldn’t solve anything, but it would burn his soul completely. He knew better than to fall into the revenge trap.

He pulled the gun aside and walked away. As he was slowly getting farther, he could feel some hot tears running down his cheeks. He didn’t try to stop them. Instead, he learned to accept what happened and allowed himself to cry. It was the first time doing so since your death, and he felt a little better.

Piers Nivans

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’ll be overwhelmed by sorrow. You two were on a mission to investigate a hidden lab that produced BOWs. He heard an explosion, and the radio went static. The terrorists blew themselves up. He tried to reach your location, but his superiors told him to stay until the area was safe. No survivors were spotted.

He was running out of patience. Some announced on the radio that a survivor was seen crawling outside. With hope in his heart, he rushed to him despite any warnings. He put on a biohazard suit and ran.

When he reached the area, he saw the body laying on the ground. It was covered in blisters, the red skin, showing he was severely burned. He flipped over the body to take a better look at it, but he didn’t see any resemblance. It wasn’t his lover, but a random scientist.

Piers tried asking him about any other survivors, but he could barely speak. He died in his arms. Looking back at the factory, he just found out that his lover is long gone. He swore right there that he'd spend the rest of his life ending bio-terrorism.

Karl Heisenberg

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’ll be overwhelmed by rage. First, he’ll take all the anger out. If any unfortunate soldati happen to be around, then they’ll be destroyed. After he gets tired, he’ll come up with a plan to avenge your death. That will become his number one priority. He’ll put off destroying Miranda for now.

I think you can imagine that a guy with his powers and intelligence can achieve his vengeance in a very short time. He’ll play with the bastard that took you away from him, tease him, make him believe that he can escape, and when he’s too weak to get up, Heisenberg will kill him.

However, he wasn’t aware that in his pursuit of avenging you, he had destroyed himself. All that rage wore him out, destroyed him. He's too tired to continue killing Miranda. He shut down his factory. There is no one left to save the village now.

Ethan Winters

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’ll be overwhelmed by blame.

He is overly protective of his loved ones, willing to even sacrifice himself. So him not being able to protect you has a great impact on him.

He often thinks that it should be him instead of you. He won’t be able to sleep because he can’t stop thinking about different scenarios that could help prevent your death. What if he was there? What if he accompanied you? What if, what if, what if…

If there is any sign or any lead that you are alive, he'll eagerly follow it, no matter how much time has passed since your death. You'll remain in his heart forever.

When he finally gets a lead he’ll pack up some stuff and leave. He doesn’t care if he leaves behind his life, nor if he dies. The more he investigates, the more he feels connected to you again, and that fuels him. Every small item that he finds and that you possessed in your life brings him good memories of the two of you. Those memories also keep him going. Eventually, every proof leads him to a small village in Europe. He’s prepared for whatever he’s going to find.

Carlos Oliveira

The moment he’d found out about your demise, he’ll be overwhelmed by confusion. In the first few minutes, he’ll have trouble understanding that you are no longer alive and that it must be some kind of mistake. Even after the soldier shows him proof of your demise, he’ll still be in denial, and will remain so for a long period of time.

The thing with Carlos is that he is a hopeless romantic who believes in soulmates. When he met you, he thought he had found his better half and was ready to settle down and begin a family. Your death had a great impact on him once he passed the denial phase. He let it all out, cried, cursed his life, and blamed himself for your death.

Even if he manages to heal after your loss, he will have a rough time getting into a relationship. What he had with you was unique, and he won’t feel the same with someone else. You were his soulmate, after all.

once again i ramble so i've answered everything (i think) under the cut:

1. latest chapter? not a fan of the plot especially the borderline tentacle h*ntai. huge fan of caren though so i guess that makes it a wash.

2. i never liked lucia to begin with, i think i've been making that exceedingly clear since 2016 when this blog started. that being said, OG lucia had her good points. i see none of those in current lucia. even though i've always disliked her character, it's exceedingly clear that her character in aqua does not line up with how she was in the original/how yokote was setting her up to be post-canon. while lucia clearly would love to be kaito's mommy gf loving housewife she also loved her kingdom & the oceans. and in aqua it really seems like she just said 'lol whatever screw the oceans.' people do grow & change ofc but uh. not this much.

3. lukia's gotta have long term memory loss or some shit i cannot imagine going 17 YEARS without ever touching water & turning into a mermaid or ever drinking soda & getting drunk. there's no goddamn way. this has always been a series where you have to suspend disbelief due to plot holes but this one is just Too Much.

4. i'm fighting someone if coco got kidnapped again. not even joking. my girl deserves better. then again i don't see the original 7 being weak enough to be kidnapped, maybe it would be like,,, their kids? but lucia appears to be the only one with a kid. regardless of her 'no romance with humans rule' it's clear that humans & mermaids have been together just fine* (sara & tarou) so theroetically i'm sure the others could have had kids.

*fine, relatively speaking. sara didn't turn into bubbles, she just lost her shit after tarou left. if he hadn't left... well, she wasn't bubbles, so they could have been completely fine for all we know.

5. sango is definitely. something. maybe not a mermaid, maybe an enermy? we haven't seen her colored so absolutely no idea if she has mermaid coloring or anything. she's sus for sure though. definitely a little repetitive with lucia & hanon's meeting. the whole series kinda is though so once again, kinda a wash.

6. i'm shocked nagisa & the other one haven't been brought up yet. caren's bf was anime only so it makes sense he's not there but the other two? shocking. i'm shocked hanon & rina aren't resentful as hell towards lucia as it's exceedingly clear she doesn't like humans for whatever goddamn reason. maybe she made them leave their boyfriends (COMPLETELY out of character for lucia but that seems to be the implication!) or made them leave their kingdoms (out of character for them, especially rina.) either way, character assassination.
