Well, I deleted all my work from DeviantArt.

I haven’t agreed with their policies for a long time. A few years ago they altered their submission policy which gave them free reign to use the art submitted to their site for ads and other marketing ventures. So, they can make money off your art, but the artists get nothing. I didn’t like this policy, but I was barely using the site for art then. I was mostly posting fanfic and I doubted I was on their radar at all.

But then they got into every other money-making, MLM-flavored fad on the internet. First it was NFT’s and then it was AI art. Again, I don’t think these are things that will affect me personally. I rarely post there, and I don’t think my art is at risk of being stolen, but it’s the principle of the matter. The people who run DA are poised to hop on the next shitty money-making fad because that’s all they care about. They do not care about the artists – and without artists DA is nothing.

It's a little sad, though. I have good memories from DA. I made a lot of wonderful friends through the website. So, I am sad to leave. But it did seem like the best course of action for now.

I have great news!  My sound/photography proposal for the Natural Equilibrium exhibition in Belgium has been accepted!  

The project explores the affects of global warming on the saguaro cactus.  By photographing the cacti, from young to mature to dead, I will be creating a sound/music composition for the exhibition.  It will be an epic endeavor, but one that brings voices to these majestic plants, plus an intriguing soundscape for the gallery visitors to hear.

Projects like this are not solo ventures.  Musicians need to be hired and engineers employed for the recordings.

Little life update and pillowfort invitation

The most busy month of the year for me, is finally coming to an end. I still have a little backlog to work down on my patreon but towards the end of this year, I will be able to sit down and write replies more and more often.

pillowfort was founded in reaction to the great livejournal nsfw fiction purge and the nsfw ban on tumblr. The founders wanted to create a blogging platform for artists and art-admirers of all genres, that is kink- sex- and lgtbq+-friendly and completely save from advertisor-dictated censorship.
