[I.D.: A gifset containing four gifs of the low-poly exploration sandbox game ASTRONEER.

Gif 1 shows a sped up timelapse of a player base being constructed. Buildings are being built and 3D printed as the daylight transitions into night.

Gif 2 shows two perspectives. One perspective shows the player, wearing an astronaut suit, driving a drilling vehicle into an underground cave. The next perspective of the same scene is of the vehicle from behind as the player drives towarsd pink crystal formations and collects them.

Gif 3 shows two scenes. One scene shows the player running across an environment as an explosion goes off behind them. The other scene is set in a different envrionment and shows players manipulating a pink rock formation to generate an arch-like bridge.

Gif 4 shows players driving buggy-like vehicles around while pushing a striped black and white ball towards a hole in a wall.

About Astroneer

Astroneer is the first game I downloaded on the xbox. I heard a lot of good things about this game and how fun it is. Well, it looked good, so I gave it a try. Not everything went according to plan and I'm going to go over the issues that made me uninstall the game before even going to the next planet. Still, I want to point out that I don't hate the game, maybe I just didn't play it the right way, so please help me if you know how to avoid some issues with the game, I have hope for this game so I might come back to it and write a proper honest review for it. For now, his is what I have so far.

The third person came is very cool, since you can observe the entire world around you. But this changes once you go into a very tight space or a crawl hole: sooner than you know, you're gonna get a face full of backpack. This is especially frustrating if you're losing oxygen and digging a hole to the surface becomes a pain in the ass.

The vehicles are very cool. The buggy does feel like an offroad vehicle that is able to conquer any terrain. But sometimes when you go too fast one of it's wheel gets stuck inside the ground. Moreover, you can't pick the vehicles up, so if a car gets stuck in pit, you have two ways to deal with it: you either build a tunnel for 30 minutes to get the car out and then never use the tunnel again or just bury the car and get a new one. It's not fun getting out of large holes in this game.

After you die the compass gets a little marker that tells you where you died. However, it only tells you the location of your last death. So if you were carrying some very important supplies or a pet and accidentally died and then died multiple times trying to get to your death point, you can forget about everything you were carrying, because you're not going to find it anymore.

So yeah, after failing to get out of a giant hole for like tenth time and losing my pet in a massive cavern I uninstalled the game.

But now to the good things about Astroneer. The game nails the atmosphere with it's music and nice vibrant colors. although the ambient sounds can get very repetitive, I don't find it annoying, in fact, it sort of blends in with the environment. The sounds are very satisfying: from sciency gui sfx to heavy machinery operating, it's so good.

There is a ton of activities you can do in the game. Astroneer throws quest after quest at you for you to never get bored. There are many modules and machines you can unlock to help with many aspects of running a base. And although the world of Astroneer is finite. With right resource management you'll never run out of resources or scrap or plants etc.

Another thing I love about this game is the modular system. Everything just fits in these cells and they can be used for operating machines or just storage. The backpack is brilliant, you need to actually manage your backpack and balance storage capacity with practicality and survivability, basically the more practical modules you install in the backpack the more likely you're going to survive but the less storage you have.

Astropedia also helps you with exploring the world and managing your base. Overall, it's a great source of information if you're just starting out.

So that's what I think about the game so far. If you know how to make some of the issues I listed affect the gameplay less, please comment. I'm not saying the game is bad, since I haven't even played half of it, but as of right now the game is unplayable for me. If I learn how to enjoy the game to the fullest, I'll come back to it and write a proper opinion. But yeah, that's that.

Astroneer is advertised as a game of aerospace industry and interplanetary exploration. You can explore and re-shape distant worlds. You can work with other players to build custom bases, above or below ground, and create vehicles.

The low poly 3D was relatively well used, there was a difference between day and night, you could see the dust coming off vehicles when they moved, steam coming out of holes in the ground. The trees and grass were not very detailed, but there was enough to define them.

The artwork utilises the basic colour palettes, such as green, purple and blue, the shading techniques to create depth and create a visually appealing composition are fairly basic too, there is never too much detail of the distance, the render distance is not very far.

For the game it was, I do not really feel it needed more detail, the level it had was enough to enjoy the game.

For the King, is a story based, role-playing video game. The game was developed by Canadian game developer IronOak Games and published by Curve Games.

I preferred this game, it felt more engaging than Astroneer. The low poly 3D was used well, as the game did not require too much detail. The artwork utilises basic colour palettes, with not much definition or detail, the shading techniques to create depth and create a visually appealing composition are fairly basic too. There is never too much detail of the distance again, the render distance is not very far at all, with just a horizon with sky and a few boulders.

Pan-Pan is an open plain adventure that expands on the concept of environmental narrative storytelling with puzzle solving and exploration elements at its core.

This was the most basic of the four games, with no background at all, it is blacked out, or faded out. The view concentrates on the immediate part of the game you are in. The artwork is very basic with no depth and little to no shading. The game wasn't very realistic at all, but maybe improved by adding a wider render distance. However, the game seems to work the way it is, focusing on the one part the player is on.

Just you and your bike - take it on a thrilling ride down an unspoiled mountain landscape. Make your way through thick forests, narrow trails and wild rivers. Race, jump, slide and try not to crash - all the way from the peak to the valley!

This game was extremely basic with not much definition at all, for example, the butterfly was just a yellow butterfly shape. Blood and mud were blocks. There was a good render distance, giving mountain views and some flowers by the side of the track you ride down. I felt this game would definitely have benefitted from a higher poly 3D, as the rider's movements were very rigid and the track lines were very basic and hard to make out in some places.

Normally I stick to one game to play for a while, but lately I've been picking up a handful! Steam: Hades, Stacklands, and the Outlanders Demo. Xbox/Game Pass: Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, Moonlighter, Ooblets, and Overwatch 2.

4. Do you like to get 100% achievements/trophies?

As a perfectionist, yes lol. I usually don't care about Steam achievements, but Xbox achievements I will try to complete. Currently, I have 1 more achievement for Turnip Boy, 2 more for Ooblets, and I also still think I have a handful for Astroneer I haven't gotten yet. For larger games, I don't care as much, I just try to get as many as I can.

18. A game location you really like

I really enjoy a lot of the Overwatch maps, since that's the only game I'm playing right now that's more "realistic". I actually really like the new maps New Queens Street, Circuit Royal, Paraiso, and Midtown, but Ilios and Havana are so beautiful as well! I'm also really enjoying the changes in weather and time of day for some of the maps, I can't wait for more of those variations!

24. A game with a cool art style

I'm really enjoying some pixel graphics games at the moment, and Moonlighter is probably at the top of that list. And Hades is just a whole vibe that I love.

The Official Astroneer Discord Server

Replace the outdated information with the most current information. This could include rewriting sections to make them more clear and concise, or wiking. Reason: Missing dedicated server information. Multiplayer co-op is available in Astroneer for up to four players who use clients on different platforms: PS4 with PS4, Steam and Steam, Switch with Switch. There isn't a way to crossplay with co-op other than the Windows Store and Xbox versions.

Be aware of:

Multiplayer mode requires that all players connected to the game utilize the same version. - The host of the game could experience performance issues due to their computer processing many more details. Unlocked progress achievements or rewards are not shared with people who join after the game has been completed. The players who join your game will have to be friended on your platform. - One player needs to begin a game just as a solo game, and be outside of their shelter to find a friend to join. Contents

Steam UsersSteam Users

Steam users are able to join co-op games with people friended on Steam. It is best to make use of the Steam client to invite or join friends.

Crossplay Xbox and Windows 10

You can invite another player to join your Xbox game by using the Xbox party feature. This feature is available on the Windows Xbox app and Xbox.

When they accept the invitation it will redirect them to your game. Once they see the little house icon on the planet, they will know if they have connected. EIGHTEIGHTSIX

PS4[]

PS4 users can only join games co-op with friends on PS4.

Switch[]

Switch is the most recent platform and offers local wireless co-op and Internet co-op with other Switch friends. Switch has no other option to play crossplay with other platforms.

Dedicated Servers []

Dedicated Servers are available for those wishing to play together, but are on different platforms. They are also beneficial for players who want to play with more then four players. Dedicated servers allow for up to 8 players. Depending on the platform you play on, and the platform of the player you wish to play with, there are various options.

- Steam and PS4 versions can also rent a dedicated server from Nitrado or Gportal. They can also opt to using self-hosted servers as long as there is a computer that can host. - Microsoft versions of the game will only use dedicated servers that are rented from a Microsoft Preferred provider, currently Nitrado or Gportal. Microsoft will not allow connections to servers hosted by self-hosted servers. The - Switch does not have a choice regarding dedicated servers. Discord in #selfhost-talk has more information about setting up self-hosted servers. - Information on Nitrado and Gportal hosting sites can be found on Discord in #rented-servers-talk. There are also public servers offered through the generosity of a few of our community members, and can be accessed via Discord. Finding other players[]

To find other players for your group, visit the multiplayer channels on the Official Astroneer Discord Server. After that, you can you can post a message on the channel, and other users will reply to you via DM in which chat between yourselves should continue.

This project began as a way for me to catalogue and reference the nonviolent video games that I have in my collection, but after working on it for some time I decided I that I wanted to expand it to a list of all the nonviolent games available, to share with everyone!

A few of the games listed here have a small amount of violence, this is noted with the game info. With the few exceptions aside, there is no killing, or harming of any living creatures in these games. Please note that I’ve included a number of sports games but have excluded full-contact sports, such as football, hockey, boxing, and wrestling.

I included accessibility warnings on games that may cause troubles for gamers. These include: f = fatigue & pain m = motion-sickness p = photosensitivity * = mature themes
