Her Favorite Patient is screening Saturday, 7/22 at 12:30 pm at KuBe Art Center Theater (211 Fishkill Ave, 1st Floor, Beacon, NY 12508) and Sunday, 7/23 at 4:30 pm at The Cinehub (20 W Main St, Beacon, NY 12508). Her Favorite Patient is part of a one hour short film program for the Beacon Film Society in conjunction with Beacon Open Studios and Upstate Art Weekend. Sponsored by Ethan Cohen Gallery and Beacon Arts. Tickets by donation with a Q&A to follow each screening. Creativity vs reality. In my paintings I try not to just capture a scene, but to evoke multiple emotions with it. The world is full of beauty and horror, joy and dread, vibrant color and deep shadow. The scene welcomes you in with sweeping colorful landscape and yet the architecture looms over you or pushes you away. The figure in different environments represents different parts of the psyche, different emotional states. 2017 Dutchess County Executive's Arts Award Highlight: Special Citation: Kelly Ellenwood for work with BeaconArts. An artist with award-winning performances on the Broadway and concert stages, Kelly has also been an involved advocate of the arts and arts education. As a performer, she starred on Broadway in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and in the Madison Square Garden production of A Christmas Carol for four consecutive seasons (2000-2003). Recognition for her work in the community include: Beacon Independent Film Festival ARTS GO! Award (2015); Women's History Month - Beacon "Women of Character, Courage & Commitment" (2014); and the Helen Savoit Award for Library Advocacy (2012). Kelly devotes much of her time to promoting her home town of Beacon, NY as an arts and cultural center in her role as President of BeaconArts.org.
