any thoughts on what may have occurred in beast with the storm bringer events?
This was sitting in my inbox for so long I'm so sorry. This also kind of got away from me and I ended up rambling more about timelines & Chuuya + Dazai in Beast vs Main Timeline a bit more than actually talking about Stormbringer, oops. I still hope you enjoy my thoughts anyway!!!!
Stormbringer in the Beast Universe likely wouldn't go very differently than canon, realistically. In The Day I Picked Up Dazai Side B, when Beast Dazai is torturing the cop for information on the painting, he refers to taking care of the painting as "Phase One of the plan." So... his plans likely aren't really in action yet.
What this tells us is the events of Stormbringer likely don't have much to do with any of Beastzai's plans, as TDIPUD occurs after the events of SB (we know this because in Side A, when Oda and Dazai are trading stories, Dazai mentions something about the battle with Verlaine.)
Really, it all depends on when Beastzai came in contact with The Book and was able to start his plans.
In the main timeline, both Oda and Akutagawa end up part of the Mafia between the events of SB and the Dragon's Head Conflict. In Beast, Phase Two of Beastzai's plans is said to end when Akutagawa joins the Agency. So I'm assuming Phase Two was getting both Akutagawa and Atsushi into where they needed to be. Phase One was clearing the target Oda had on his back by enemy organizations. So I'm assuming, in both the main timeline and in Beast, events of TDIPUD occur before Akutagawa's recruitment into the mafia. All this to say, the first known act towards any of Beastzai's plans is TDIPUD Side B.
Stormbringer happens before any of this, so it is totally possible that Beastzai hadn't made contact with the book yet. But that's no fun. So, for the sake of assumption, lets think he gets it earlier.
Here's where I get fully into headcanon territory no longer really supported by canon, for the record.
I've mentioned time and time again my belief that Beastzai takes over the mantle of boss in the fallout of the DHC, which is technically wrong since in Beast its mentioned he took over from Mori 'four years ago,' making him 18 when it happened. So in reality he probably took over in the wake of Mimic, where main timeline Dazai left the mafia entirely. But anyone who's ever had a conversation with me knows that I treat Beast Canon as a suggestion at best.
Anyway. So... by the time of the Beast novel, Chuuya totally fucking despises Dazai. Like... would still protect him to the ends of the Earth if only to ensure he can kill Dazai himself, but their relationship is vastly different from their main timeline counterparts. These two are not falling back on old inside jokes or mission codenames, but Chuuya is still integral to Beastzai's plots, if only to keep Beastzai alive long enough to execute them. Chuuya is loyal to the Mafia. That being said, in the time of Stormbringer, Chuuya hadn't quite developed that level of loyalty yet. He had so much hanging over his head that he was trapped there, not necessarily "loyal."
Dazai and Chuuya had to have gotten along at some point to inspire Chuuya's personal loyalty to Dazai's wellbeing. Its just how they work. There also has to be something, or many things, that went drastically wrong for Chuuya to hate Dazai that much. I mean, Chuuya. He's one of the most forgiving people ever when it comes to personal slights against himself. He forgave Shirase and the Sheep for literally stabbing him with rat poison and leaving him for dead, and still fought for their safety. Even repaired his relationship with Shirase. He held no animosity for Verlaine even after he killed The Flags, Murase, and several other mafia members. Chuuya has forgiven people that have destroyed everything he knows. So what the hell did Beast Dazai do to him to get that much raw hatred?
As far as the events of Stormbringer themself, they probably went pretty similarly, honestly. Chuuya needs to be loyal to the Mafia. I think that relationship to the Flags, and losing them, helped cement him in the Mafia as more than just a holdover. He felt indebted to them to fill in positions they could have held and rise in the ranks as he sees they died because of him, and they were his actual honest friends. So... unfortuately, I believe the Flags still die in Beast Stormbringer, as much as I wish they didn't. Their deaths bring Chuuya to the Mafia. Same goes for Murase, he's dead. Murase's death was alternate routes closing to Chuuya. Cementing his loyalty to the Mafia is key.
The only places I think might start to diverge from the normal timeline are the fight in the Lab and the Final Battle. The Mafia is stronger in Beast, with further reach and greater power. Beastzai might want some of those ability users that die in the final battle alive to help him expand his power more quickly. Its possible he had people get N down from the tower more quickly to activate Guivre, to cut to the chase more quickly.
Here's where I'm circling back to 'what the fuck did Beastzai do to make Chuuya hate him like that.
Dazai has often been an advocate for Chuuya's free will, at least when it has to do with anything other than Dazai's personal projects. The Arcade Scene in 15. Giving Chuuya an option, and a moment alone to consider it, on whether or not to unleash Corruption for the first true time in Stormbringer. But... Beastzai is very focused on his plans going correctly. If he decides he needs those ability users alive, and hurries along the battle with Verlaine to waste fewer resources? He may be... pushier with the option. I'm not saying it wouldn't be given. That's too tactless. But I wouldn't put it past Dazai to emphasize ugency, to play it up a little, to try to force Chuuya's hand without him immediately realizing its being forced. And have that become a pattern in general. Where once Dazai was a pillar of advocating Chuuya's free will, he'd slowly stop being that over the years, and becoming more demanding. Something of that shift is what I believe would influence their relationship negatively, along with everything else miserable that happens in the course of Beast. I have a really strong headcanon that in Beast, Beastzai really played to Chuuya's tastes more and tried to gain his friendship/loyalty faster and stronger earlier so that he'd be willing to do more for him (such as help overtake the Mafia) early on, then through the course of the Beast universe just... cuts him off emotionally and pushes Chuuya away into that bodyguard subordinate role to make him more loyal to the Mafia instead of Dazai so that he's more capable of maintaining it after Beastzai's death.
As far as Verlaine? Well... if the fight is hurried up, I'm really not sure he actually survives, if Rimbaud's ghost gets to him in time. But I like to think that he does, because that means he could have trained both Beast Atsushi and Beast Kyoka, and I think that's fun. He'd be useful like that. I'm not sure if he'd end up with the Executive position he does though, but Sub-Executive (as Rimbaud had been) is possible. He'd be too busy being used to train stronger assassins and combatants to have Executive duties. Again, stronger Mafia, broader scope, needs more & more powerful underlings.
All this to say I think Stormbringer generally goes the same except for the final battle, which gets rushed and pushy and generally unpleasant, while also probably cutting short some of the emotional ties Chuuya gets to form with Adam, Verlaine, and the rekindling of his friendship with Shirase, because the entire thing would be kind of stunted. Not a very fun answer, I'll admit, but I did get to think about it a lot which was quite fun.

BSD Chapter 109 Spoiler
I refuse to believe that the Chuuya who jumped off a fucking plane, activated Corruption with a blind trust that Dazai was still alive, and fought a monster dragon, would actually kill Dazai just like this...
No.......

Angry Kenji vs FTTS Chuuya - Who Wins?
Okok hear me out- We all love wan!Chuuya and Kenji’s wholesome interactions and one day I swear I’m gonna write smthn wholesome about Chuuya taking Kenji out for his first drink
BUT
The latest chapter has made me wanna see a Kenji vs Chuuya fight SO BAD.
I can’t say what I wanna say without spoiling, so I’ll add a keep reading.
CH100.5 SPOILERS BELOW
So we’ve got Chuuya, who controls gravity and also has a literal god inside him. He’s OP as fuck. And we’ve got Kenji, who we now know has the power of unrestrained raging nature. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Nature is scary.
Normal Kenji vs FTTS Chuuya
Normal Kenji vs FTTS Chuuya we’ve incredibly briefly seen back during The Guild arc, though they only really got a couple swings at each other, so it’s not much to go on for analysis purposes. I do think, however, that FTTS Chuuya would win an all-out fight against Normal Kenji.
Kenji himself said he might not be able to win his fight against Tecchou, and before he went god-mode, he was definitely losing. Now, Chuuya hasn’t fought a Hunting Dog, so there’s no direct comparison we can use, but so far, he’s been pretty much undefeated apart from his little brains-over-brawn run-in with Ranpo and Poe. I think we can safely say Chuuya would stand on even ground with the Hunting Dogs, though (and this may be my Chuuya bias showing) I’m pretty sure he’s stronger.
Either way, this puts FTTS Chuuya above Normal Kenji and thus Chuuya would win.
Angry Kenji vs Corruption Chuuya
I mean, this’d be end-of-the-world levels of destruction, that’s for sure. But I think, again, Chuuya would come out on top here.
Angry Kenji is stupid powerful. He kicked Tecchou’s ass with ease. He punched a hole in a literal mountain. Unrestrained nature is a force to be reckoned with and Kunikida is absolutely right that no human can stop that.
But Chuuya isn’t human. (shh I’ve read Storm Bringer I know I can’t state this as fact but let me be dramatic) Chuuya’s got a whole-ass God inside him. FTTS Chuuya can play with gravity, but Corruption Chuuya can straight-up manipulate gravitons. He can create mini black holes.
Now, the unrestrained force of nature can do a hell of a lot of damage, but it’s child’s play compared to the destruction a black hole can do. Nothing escapes a black hole, so once Chuuya’s pulled his trump card, not even Kenji can stand up to him.
Though, on a side note, if Kenji could hold out long enough for Chuuya’s body to tear itself apart...then in theory he could win. And on that same side-note, the fact Kenji’s body doesn’t tear itself apart is probably a nice way to say ‘you’ve got unrestrained power...but not unrestrained power’ lol.
Angry Kenji vs FTTS Chuuya
Finally, to the real question. Would Angry Kenji be stronger than FTTS Chuuya?
Let’s think about it. FTTS Chuuya is pretty much the same as any other gifted user. A human with a supernatural power. Arahabaki is dormant. It’s not available to him.
So we essentially have Kenji using 100% of his ability vs Chuuya using....not 100% (idk what an accurate percentage would be lmao). We know Angry Kenji can punch a hole in a mountain...but could FTTS Chuuya?
We’ve seen Corruption Chuuya put instant holes in Lovecraft using gravitons (black hole perks amirite?) and pull a whole-ass skyscraper out of the ground to shove into a dragon’s mouth. Corruption Chuuya could absolutely put a hole in a mountain. (Though how many times? He makes mini-black holes, not size-of-a-mountain-side black holes. It takes time to increase their size and they seem incredibly short-lived so their influence wouldn’t extend that far...yeah that’s a question for another post moving on-)
But, more-so referring to the skyscraper, we’ve never seen FTTS Chuuya do anything on that scale. If shit gets big, he uses Corruption. He had to use Corruption on the dragon because FTTS just wouldn’t cut it. Ignoring Lovecraft’s external invincibility, Chuuya still needed to use Corruption to (not quite) defeat him once Dazai had blown him up from the inside. Lovecraft’s big, but he’s not mountain big.
So, could FTTS Chuuya fight the unrestrained rage of nature head-on? Could FTTS Chuuya beat Angry Kenji?
Well...I actually don’t have a clear opinion on who would win this fight. Gravity is incredibly powerful and I do think it’d even the odds out significantly, but just look at earth with its g=9.81:
Us tiny humans can escape the earth’s gravitational pull by setting a few chemicals on fire. Volcanoes toss massive boulders into the sky. Tsunamis flatten small islands. The tectonic plates create literal mountains and trenches. There’s a lot of defying gravity going on there and I bet doubling, tripling, even increasing the gravity tenfold wouldn’t stop it completely.
Gravity rules all, but nature still does as it pleases.
Sooooo.....maybe. Maybe Angry Kenji would kick FTTS Chuuya’s ass. Maybe he’d fall just short. I can’t say for sure, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide for yourselves.
Whatever the outcome would be, I think we can all agree it would be one hell of a fight though.

Should you fight my f/os?
Tagged by @megane-shipping @rose-wine-selfships @firebird-inkheart
I have many f/os, so this isn't all of them but I still did a fair number of 'em.
Also the rating system confused me but I did my best.
Dazai: He looks pretty scrawny, and while he is a pretty good fighter fighter through skill he isn't the physically strongest opponent, but you still wouldn't be able to beat him. He'd come up with some sort of plan where you'd probably think you'd won but then you turn around and oop no Dazai won. How does that work? Who fucking knows.
No fighting Dazai. 2/10
Erza Scarlet: She will kick your ass with the power of friendship and her eighteen thousand swords. Are you kidding me? She's queen of the fairies, no way. Beating her up only inspires her to win for the sake of her guild.
No fighting Erza. 1/10
Shinobu Kocho: She will poison you with a smile on her face. Unless your name is Douma, I would not recommend (ouch).
No fighting Shinobu. 4/10
Chuuya Nakahara: if you're looking to get crushed by a manlet in a fancy hat, then go for it. He's quite possibly one of the strongest ability users out there, but tell him Dazai called him a nerd or whatever and he'll fly into a rage that you can either use to your advantage or will result in you being crushed faster.
No fighting Chu-tan. 1/10
Yosano Akiko: Holy shit what? You're going to fight her? She will hack you to pieces, put you back together, and then repeat, repeat, repeat until she has to go and catch a sale.
No fighting Yosano. 4/10
Howard Phillips Lovecraft: You have a chance so long as he continues to give into his tiredness, he may simply lay there while you beat the shit out of him. Make sure you keep him from going all eldritch monstrocity on your ass though.
Not advised to fight Lovecraft. 3/10
Edgar Allen Poe: He's baby, why would you fight him? I know his best friend is a raccoon and he looks like he hadn't been outside since he was a baby, but what would you accomplish by fighting him?
To remain a decent person no fighting Poe. 5/10
Mark Twain: He's allergic to wearing shirts properly and thinks he's all buff and stuff, but you can punch him in the eye and knock him the fuck out. His little doll friends ain't gonna do shit. So long as you get too close for him to snipe you, you've got this.
Fight Mark. 7/10
Margaret Mitchell: I would really rather you not, she's napping. If you did, though, be ready to get caught in your own personal tornado while she rants about restoring her families honor. Unless your name is Akutagawa, be careful.
Not advised to fight Margaret. 5/10
Higuchi Ichiyo: She's certainly not the most formidable opponent, but she would gladly cut a thousand bitches for the sake of getting senpai to notice her.
You could fight Higuchi but it's not advised. 6/10
Gin Akutagawa: You wouldn't even hear her coming. The thought of fighting her would be brand new and then whoops, you've got a knife to the throat. She's not a leader of the black lizards for no reason.
Not advised to fight Gin. 4/10
Beelzebub: There is a chance that he would literally eat you, but for the most part while he is a big, beefy demon, he's also a teddy bear; he'd probably let you punch him over and over with a straight face. Stay away from his food and you should be fine.
Maybe fight Beelzebub. 6/10
Mammon: On one hand, he is the second most powerful of his brothers, he could easily destroy you. On the other hand, boy gets beat up verbally and physically by his brothers every damn day and has a mountain of insecurities, poke at those and you could probably win. Or make him even more mad. It's a gamble with the avatar of greed, my guy.
Maybe fight Mammon but not advised. 5/10
Jae-ha: He's a quick fellow, and his aim with those daggers is pretty spot on, it'd be very difficult and your best chance would be to try and ground him so he can't use his dragon leg. Although, he's a pervert and would probably like getting beat up, so you could win simply by that
Not advised to fight Jae-ha unless he's feeling especially nasty: 5/10
Chain Sumeragi: She can literally make herself completely undetectable and then stick her hand through you to play with your insides, unless you can get past that somehow, you're fucked.
No fighting Chain. 3/10
Steven Alan Starphase: He will Esmeralda Blood Freeze you before you can even blink and the shatter you into ice cubes for his drink. He ain't afraid to get his hands dirty.
No fighting Steven. 3/10
The Happy Huntresses: They're an experienced team of top of their class huntresses; four badasses trained not only to fight people but also giant evil monsters.
No fighting the happy huntresses. 4.5/10
Meis and Gueira: I mean they look decently tough with those bikes and the armor and the fire, but everytime we see them in a fight they get their asses handed to them in like two seconds. Best to be equiped with a fire extinguisher or like some ice cubes to chuck at 'em.
Maybe fight them. 6/10
Aizawa Shouta: Your best bet is to catch him in the middle of a nap, but please be so careful not to wake him up, he's most likely be so cranky that he'd forget he's a hero and snap your neck.
Not advised to fight Aizawa. 5/10
Idia Shroud: His scrawny ass barely ever leaves his room, he hasn't lifted anything heavier than his phone ever, he's a flaming stick basically.
You could fight Idia. 7/10
Sesshomaru: He has very little mercy to spare and has killed a great deal of people and demons.
No fighting Sesshomaru. 2/10
Annie January: She is capable of blinding and throwing you across the room with a beam of light from her hands and can lift like thirty two times her bodyweight. Unless you also have superpowers, would not recommend.
Not advised to fight Annie. 5/10
Byleth: She's a skilled fighter on her own, but she also has an army of feral students ready to beat the shit out of anyone who messes with their proffessor.
No fighting Byleth. 4/10
Shatina: Her greatest joy is beating people up and watching them bleed, she steps on and torments even her closest allies on a near daily basis. She would crush you and the go right back to drinking.
No fighting Shatina. 4/10
Maeve: I'm actually not sure what kind of fighting ability she has, but why would you want to hurt a goddess?
No fighting Maeve. 5/10
Ban: He's a member of one of the strongest groups of fighters in the land, and he's able to almost immediately regenerate after any and all damage. Also, he's like 10 feet tall, what are you going to do? Chew on his ankles until they snap off? They grow right back.
No fighting Ban. 4/10
Joxter: Fucking feral cat man, too lazy to fight back. Kick his ass.
Fight Joxter. 8/10
Shigure Sohma: Please fight Shigure, please. I will put my bet on you and watch.
Please fight Shigure. 9/10
Vodka: She's used to fighting giant fallen angels, she'd have no trouble kicking your ass and looking good while doing it. Also, she could simply send her hawk Andre to peck out your eyes before she even has to do any work.
Not advised to fight Vodka. 5.5/10
Jordan 'JD' Davies: They're the Jersey Devil. Literally, the Jersey Devil. They'd burn you to a crisp with their fire powers. But, your chances of victory aren't zero if you could find a way to deal with that. They're strong, but you could find a way with a fist fight. Fuck knows they deserve to be fought.
You probably shouldn't but fight JD anyways. 7/10
Zoro: You're going to fight a guy who wields three swords? One of which he sticks in his mouth? He's clearly crazy. Also I'm pretty sure he cuts a mountain in half at some point or something like that? So there's that to take into consideration. You're best bet would be to also be amazing with swords.
No fighting Zoro. 3/10
Nami: She's not the most powerful out of all of all of her crew, but if you beat her you will leave afterwards and notice that your wallet and all your valuables that you had on you are missing and she's already sailing away.
You could fight Nami but you will be poor afterwards. 7/10
Mollymauk Tealeaf: Hasn't he been through enough?
No fighting Molly please. 5/10
Zora: She will turn you into a literal baby, how do you plan on beating her up as an infant with your chubby lil baby hands?
No fighting Zora: 4/10
And I wanted to include some familial too
Yukichi Fukuzawa: Have you seen him fight with a sword? You won't even see him draw it.
No fighting Fukuzawa. 2/10
Ogai Mori: He will trick you into thinking he's merely a simple, friendly neighborhood physician, and then the moment your back is turned there will be a scalpel buried deep in it. Also, he has a demon baby at his command.
No fighting Ogai. 2/10
Kouyou Ozaki: You might think you're sneaking up on her, but her Golden Demon will cut you down without her even needing to look away from admiring the flowers and sipping her tea.
No fighting Kouyou. 2/10
Oda Sakunosuke: HASN'T HE BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH.
No fighting Oda PLEASE. 4/10
Ranpo Edogawa: While he has eaten nothing but processed sugar since the day he was born, he will eviscerate you with his words and leave you too mentally beaten to lift a finger. Stuff your ears with some cotton and kick his scrawny ass. The rest of the detective agency will come after you, though.
Not advised but go ahead and fight Ranpo. 5/10
Yumeno Kyusaku: So much as look at this child wrong, much less lay a finger on them, and I will be the one fighting you.
NO FIGHTING YUMENO. 0/10
Lio Fotia: I know he looks like a dandy who was abandoned and raised by a biker gang, but he is also the strongest known burnish. The only thing saving you is his code against killing.
Not advised to fight Lio. 4/10
Laxus Dreyar: He's an asshole, and I completely understand wanting to fight him, but he is jacked as shit with the power of lightning at his finger tips.
It's not smart but I would like to watch you do it anyways. 2/10
Noctis Lucis Caelum: He'd rather fish than fight you, but he is capable of taking down giant monsters and mini armies with the ability to teleport. Tell him Hot Topic is going out of business and he'll crumble.
Not advised to fight Noctis but eh maybe you could. 4/10
Pretty sure all the people I would've tagged have already done it? So do this if you want to.

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐑. worse than the monster that resides INSIDE. he’s but a vessel for an ancient beast. if only, it ends at that. then maybe things would be simpler. but even with the absence of this BEAST, dazai osamu still remains MONSTROUS as ever. he’s not a fool. he knows mori didn’t seek dazai out solely for his Ability. the thing about those with sociopathic behavior is that they have the uncanny talent for identifying OTHERS like THEM. although, dazai wouldn’t label himself as such a thing, && he doubts mori would either. oh, no--- they prefer the term ‘STRATEGIST.’ but when you’re playing CHESS with human lives as pawns && knights && rooks && countless other pieces--- you’d have to be BULLSHITTING YOURSELF into thinking you’re a ‘good person.’
dazai isn’t a good person. mori isn’t a good person. ( ‘ keep your friends close, && your ENEMIES closer. ‘ ) dazai hopes that chuuya will see this sooner than later. because chuuya . . . he’s different. there’s genuine GOOD in chuuya. yet he’s chosen this organization of HELLHOUNDS as his home. his family. dazai isn’t one to judge. chuuya is his own person with his own life. but he hopes to maintain these IRON BARRICADES around whatever remains of his heart. nothing beneficial will come out of caring for a boy who’s all too eager to SHOOT HIMSELF in the foot for his master.
Tumblr media
❝ LONELINESS IS THE HUMAN CONDITION. ❞ he recites words from one of his favorite novels. it’s a book he’s read time && time again that the pages have turned golden, soft at the edges. rarely does he meet words spoken by another person in his everyday life without SKEPTICISM. but words printed on a page . . . dazai trusts them. he hordes them to himself like a dragon with fine treasure. ❝ to be alone is inherent to HUMAN NATURE. you can succumb to it. or--- ❞ he exhales softly. ❝ --you can learn to make a WEAPON out of it. ❞
he stares at the offered hand. kindness. gentleness. softness--- all foreign to him. yet chuuya offers it so FREELY. dazai stares at his own bandaged hand. the gauze extends up his arms. they still vaguely ACHE from yet another failed attempt. only mori knows. ( since the asshole sutured the gaping wounds. sonuvabitch SAVED his life when that’s the last thing dazai wants. he even had the FUCKING AUDACITY to smile &&laugh while doing it. )
dazai takes chuuya’s hand. maybe he feels something. he’s not sure. the perpetual EXHAUSTION numbs his senses. ❝ who does mori need us to take care of next ?? ❞  it’s not the ancient beast that’s craving bloodshed. it’s just him. dazai. there’s nothing to deconstruct && analyze && rationalize with violence. VIOLENCE IS VIOLENCE. simple as that. ❝ i don’t care if it’s one person or an entire enemy organization. what’s the next objective ?? ❞
