And then BAM Tsukasa Tenma and Subaru Akehoshi kissing, Sunny is their adopted child too I think. Fuck Ruikasa I’m now friends with Subakasa.

Tolkien purists and Celeborn

I am kinda tired of people bashing Rings of Power and trying to fallback to original stories and complaining about Celeborn despite him being a mere name in the original work. What is his role in the books? He did exist, and he existed precisely because back in the time when JRRT wrote his stories you can’t imagine a female leader without husband. He wasn’t a character, he was “Galadriel’s husband” and did not play huge role, because Galadriel herself was a support character in LOTR (the story was about Fellowship). Even the “about Celeborn and Galadriel” append was 99% about Galadriel.

And now purists pretend to like this non-character because they do not like that in the show Galadriel actually had chemistry with another character and obvious hints at romance in the latest series.

I personally think it always should be Celembrimbor x Galadriel in the Silmarillion, because it makes the most sense, he is actual interesting character with important plot and great craftsman. But since it is the show and not the Silmarillion, I can’t ignore that her plot line with Halbrand is great. (Regardless if he’s Sauron or not, I think he is not.)

And it would be a huge waste to say “it did matter not”.

And even if Halbrand did not exist, the idea to remove Celeborn was right because he adds nothing to the original story and is a manifestation of an outdated message that every woman must have a husband (even great warriors like Eowyn and wise queens like Galadriel and Melian).

Amazon, you should absolutely ignore every purist because they’ll complain about everything anyway. Like they did complain about Peter Jackson’s LOTR, which is most close adaptation possible, or “The Hobbit” trilogy. They’ll never be happy with any adaptation, and they do not deserve any consolation.

Just pretend Celeborn never existed and it would improve the story greatly. (Yes, Eldron’s wife did not matter too, she also just existed, and even flee to Valinor leaving Elrond alone when we met him in LOTR. He deserves better too.)

So, about Rings of Power:

-Galadriel is unlikeable. Arrogant, abrasive and boring asf. Even Sauron is more likeable than her. Wtf writers? Give us the REAL Galadriel back. And do not use "character development" as an excuse. She's 6000 year old for fuck's sake....

-Both Sauron and Celebrimbor should have looked more like this

The fact that Thranduil is hottest than both of them is hilarious.

I mean, Charlie Vickers is fine, but Celebrimbor is totally miscast. Old, short hair....wut? They did the elves dirty in this show.

-Sauron should have seduced Celebrimbor, not Galadriel. WHY WRITERS? WHY THEY'VE ERASED THE SAURON/CELEBRIMBOR STORYLINE AND THEY GAVE US THIS FANFICTION WITH GALADRIEL, THE ONLY CHARACTER THAT SAURON WASN'T ABLE TO DECEIVE IN THE BOOKS?

I'm so mad :/

-Elrond, Adar and Sauron are the best characters in the show.

The show is 50/50. Enjoyable, but the writing in general is really bad and some dialogues are cringe. Nothing compared to PJ trilogy. I hope that season 2 is gonna be better and more canon with the books.

a thing I like about feanor is that he's so explicitly the best boytm of the story and yet he a) fucks up so frequently and spectacularly (normal, very Greek of him) and b) taps out early and contributes relatively little to the plot except by way of the damage he's already visited on his family and society. Enjoy that for him immensely. sorry baby your legacy is that all of your sons and brothers and nephews and nieces & let us be real almost certainly your sisters have had their personalities and worldviews shaped at least a little bit by your mommy issues.

I just wanna say that with the arrival of isildur we now know that this show is probably going to end on the slopes of Mount Doom with an extra crispy Gil-Galad, jello sandwich Elendil, and utterly despairing Elrond and Isildur who had to watch it happen and I’m not ready.

So, now that it's over here are some of my favorite pieces from tolkientober!

Day 6 - song. Maglor singing his angsty songs on the shore was all I could think abt lol

Day 9 - star. Cliche but star of eärendil + the kidnap family cuz I'm obsessed with them sorry

Day 10 - evil. Annatar & Celembrimbor !! They make me a Bit insane

Day 11 - king - Now the cliché thing would be just aragorn (return of the king is literally about him) but I love the silm too much to not include my elves so. My actual fav drawing in this entire thing !!! Colors!!!!

Day 14 - love. Celeborn + Galadriel getting married in traditional Tang dynasty clothes cuz of Reasons. Last colored one and I love this one too !!

Day 15 - tree. Coming up w something for this was hard but I had just watched fotr extended edition and thought about these parallels

Day 25 - Grow(th) . I had just read Little Bird and had feels about dad Amras w Elwing so I did this lol

Day 27 - fight. A silly joke cuz Turgon fighting his bisexuality is funny to me (the one talking is aredhel btw)

I have two more but those will be their own separate posts!
