How much God wants to bless you
“The Lord will again take delight in prospering you.” (Deuteronomy 30:9)
God does not bless us begrudgingly. There is a kind of eagerness about the beneficence of God. He does not wait for us to come to him. He seeks us out, because it is his pleasure to do us good. God is not waiting for us; he is pursuing us. That, in fact, is the literal translation of Psalm 23:6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall pursue me all the days of my life.”
God loves to show mercy. Let me say it again. God loves to show mercy. He is not hesitant or indecisive or tentative in his desires to do good to his people. His anger must be released by a stiff safety lock, but his mercy has a hair trigger. That’s what he meant when he came down on Mount Sinai and said to Moses, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love” (Exodus 34:6). It’s what he meant when he said in Jeremiah 9:24, “I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
God is never irritable or edgy. His anger never has a short fuse. Instead he is infinitely energetic with absolutely unbounded and unending enthusiasm for the fulfillment of his delights.
This is hard for us to comprehend, because we have to sleep every day just to cope, not to mention thrive. Our emotions go up and down. We get bored and discouraged one day and feel hopeful and excited another.
We are like little geysers that gurgle and sputter and pop erratically. But God is like a great Niagara Falls — you look at 186,000 tons of water crashing over the precipice every minute, and think: Surely this can’t keep going at this force year after year after year. Yet it does.
That’s the way God is about doing us good. He never grows weary of it. It never gets boring to him. The Niagara of his grace has no end.

The Magic Pomegranate Seeds
The pomegranate eaten on Rosh Hashanah has great significance, The most outstanding aspect of the pomegranate is its seeds. As we say before eating the pomegranate on Rosh Hashanah, “May it be Your will, G-d and G-d of our fathers, that we be filled with mitzvot (good deeds) like a pomegranate is filled with seeds.” The times were bad, a poor woman was having a hard time finding food for her…

The Unthinkable Sacrifice That Never Actually Happened
The Unthinkable Sacrifice That Never Actually Happened
The Bible tells many stories about sacrifice and redemption, and one of the most striking occurs early in God’s interaction with Abraham. The Genesis account says this:“Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a…

A Gentle Answer Turns Away Wrath
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. 2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, But the mouth of fools gush out folly. 3 The LORD's eyes are everywhere, Keeping watch on the evil and the good. 4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, But deceit in it crushes the spirit. 5 A fool despises his father's correction, But he who heeds reproof shows prudence. 6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, But the income of the wicked brings trouble. 7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; Not so with the heart of fools. 8 The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is his delight. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But he loves him who follows after righteousness. 10 There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: Whoever hates reproof shall die. 11 She'ol and Avaddon are before the LORD -- How much more then the hearts of the children of men!
12 A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved; He will not go to the wise. 13 A glad heart makes a cheerful face; But an aching heart breaks the spirit. 14 The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, But the mouths of fools feed on folly. 15 All the days of the afflicted are wretched, But one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast. 16 Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, Than great treasure with trouble. 17 Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a fattened calf with hatred. 18 A wrathful man stirs up contention, But one who is slow to anger appeases strife. 19 The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, But the path of the upright is a highway. 20 A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man despises his mother. 21 Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, But a man of understanding keeps his way straight. 22 Where there is no counsel, plans fail; But in a multitude of counselors they are established. 23 Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time! 24 The path of life leads upward for the wise, To keep him from going downward to She'ol.
25 The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, But he will keep the widow's borders intact. 26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, But the thoughts of the pure are pleasing. 27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live. 28 The heart of the righteous weighs answers, But the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil. 29 The LORD is far from the wicked, But he hears the prayer of the righteous. 30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones. 31 The ear that listens to the reproof lives, And will be at home among the wise. 32 He who refuses correction despises his own soul, But he who listens to reproof gets understanding. 33 The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility. — Proverbs 15 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 13:8; Leviticus 7:18; Deuteronomy 19:14; Deuteronomy 32:22; Judges 8:1; 1 Kings 1:12; Nehemiah 2:2; Psalm 59:7; Proverbs 1:2; Proverbs 1:7; Proverbs 1:25; Proverbs 8:21; Proverbs 9:7; Proverbs 10:1; Proverbs 12:14; Proverbs 13:18; Proverbs 16:24; Proverbs 17:1; Proverbs 18:15; Proverbs 22:5; Proverbs 25:25; Ecclesiastes 4:6; Ecclesiastes 7:5; John 9:31; Acts 1:24; Ephesians 5:15; 1 Timothy 6:9; 1 Timothy 6:11; Hebrews 4:13; 1 Peter 3:15; Revelation 2:7

It's the weekend, and my two best friends are staying the night tonight! We have our cookie booth early in the morning, so we all agreed that it would be easier to stay at my house since it's closest to the store we're selling at. One of my friends, we'll call her H, is in ballet with me, same level, so she'll come home with me from that. Then my other friend, we'll call her E, her mom is going to drop her off at my house around 9pm since that's about when H and I will get back from ballet. Senior sleepover! I can't wait!
H and I have known each other since we were in first grade and were Daisies together, and E joined us for Brownies in second grade, so we've been friends for forever it feels like. I don't know what I would do without them honestly. We've been through everything together.
Tasks Completed:
Geometry - Reviewed finding sides in similar polygons + learned about perimeters and areas of similar polygons + practice
Lit and Comp II - Reviewed units 7-9 vocabulary + sent biography assignment to my mom for grading (100/100) + read the news
Spanish 2 - Reviewed vocabulary + read my sentences in Spanish out loud to my dad (30/30)
Bible I - Read Deuteronomy 17-18
World History - Watched 38 minutes of Hidden Killers season 1 episode 1 + worked on a chart showing the issues with invention risks in Victorian homes
Biology with Lab - Read over ecology key terms + read over project guidelines + chose my endangered animal project (saola because they're nicknamed Asian unicorns and are unbelievably cute but hardly ever seen in the wild, so hopefully I'll find enough information)
PE/Health I - Read a health article about synthetic biology and its use in treating disease and super powering cells
Foundations - Read more on obedience + wrote down all the different pictures I saw in a line image within one minute (helps with creativity) + finished up my speech and editing
Piano - Practiced for two hours in one hour split sessions
Khan Academy - None today (It was already assigned)
CLEP - Watched Module 7.0-7.3 lecture videos + completed Module 7 reading "Europe: A.D. 1800-1901" sections 4.33.1-4.33.1.2.5
Duolingo - Completed at least one lesson each in Spanish, French, and Chinese
Reading - Read pages 81-114 of They’re Watching You by Chelsea Ichaso
Chores - Dusted my bedroom, my bathroom, and the study + laundered my bedding
Activities of the Day:
Ballet
Pointe
Journal/Mindfulness
-
What I’m Grateful for Today:
I am grateful that I did not live during the Victorian age because all of the risks leading to so many injuries and deaths were unbelievable!
Quote of the Day:
We can’t begin to learn until we admit how much we don’t know.
-A Thousand Pieces of You, Claudia Gray
🎧Impromptu pour piano, op. 49 - Louise Farrenc

The best way to view the Bible when you are reading it, is to realize you are having a conversation. The fact that He is speaking to you through those words is as real as if He were sitting beside you and the words were coming out of His mouth instead of from the pages.
However we view or handle - or possibly dismiss - The Word of God, we have to keep in mind Who we are viewing and handling and dismissing. John chapter one explains that God and His Word are one and the same. And He says He never changes. And He never has. We are warned not to add to it, not to take away from it, not to change it, not to neglect it - we are commanded to heed it, to study it, to abide in it… and we are encouraged to love it, and tremble at it.
“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting” 2ndTimothy 1:10
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
“And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.”1stCorinthians 2:13
“Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” Psalm 119:89
“Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and prove you a liar.”Proverbs 30:5-6
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8
“He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” Titus 1:9
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”2Timothy 3:16-17
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” 2Timothy 4:2
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
“You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.” Deuteronomy 4:2
“Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it.” Deuteronomy 12:32
“Repent at my rebuke - then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand, since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you - when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.” Proverbs 1:23-27
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:23

TORAH READING
Deuteronomy 29:9 - 31:30
In the Torah portion Nitzavim, Moses describes the Covenant between God and the Israelites, urging the Israelites to uphold the Covenant and honor the Torah so that they may be rewarded with life in the Land of Israel. In Vayeilech, Moses concludes his speech to the Israelites, blesses Joshua, and instructs the community to gather every seven years to read publicly from the Torah. God predicts the eventual straying of the Israelites.

modern productions of cats stop age-ing down the characters challenge. let jelly be older let jenny be older let skimble be older. and not even casting wise because that is another discussion entireely i think. just how the characters get played they most seem to be so much younger. even munkustrap skews SO young lately and hes not even an old character
One of my IRL friends once said that Munkustrap is a 40 year old man and I have never been able to read him as anything else, and tbh that tracks. Hard agree. Munkustrap being anything but in his thirties or more does not compute to me. Late twenties if I am being *really* generous. The vocal maturity alone is already in this...really weird young tenor high spot that I don’t like - what I’m going to call the “theatre kid” belt voice fresh outta school and it stayed that way - the 2016 Revival, if you will.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.
I will say I don’t think we can fully separate the conversation of the casting age of the performers from this overall point - 20 year-olds really shouldn’t be playing individuals who are meant to be 50 plus when the performance world already has so few roles for them/fucks them over by casting younger people in age makeup when they do. Like, no, Old Deuteronomy shouldn’t be 26 in 2022. Doesn’t matter how good they are - they’ll still be good in fifteen years. Neither should Gus. Neither should Grizabella. That should be the baseline standard on its own. With the other cats that are perhaps meant to be on the older side (though again, this is more up to interpretation in, say, Skimble’s case but tbh it has no reason to be), you can get moreso away from stricter limitation and “act” a bit older and cast more vocally mature individuals, but like...30+ year old performers exist. Their abilities don’t suddenly disappear after they turn 40. They don’t stop existing after 50. If they’re worried about them keeping up or their ability to perform in something demanding like CATS up to 9-10 times a week, cast multiples - Korean and Japanese theatre does this all the time (what was that? more money? that sounds like a production company problem to me).
But that’s just my opinion.

Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart
1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, 4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Blessed Is the One Who Finds Wisdom
13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her. 19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; 20 By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, let them not depart from your eyes-- Keep sound wisdom and discretion; 22 So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. 23 Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. 24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; 26 For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught. 27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it," When you have it with you. 29 Do not devise evil against your neighbor, For he dwells by you for safety's sake. 30 Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm. 31 Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways; 32 For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright. 33 The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just. 34 Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble. 35 The wise shall inherit glory, But shame shall be the legacy of fools. — Proverbs 3 | New King James Version (NKJV) The Holy Bible; New King James Version®.
