Some sketches of my The Hobbit OC's! They hijacked my brain around hm, 2021? And have been slowcooking ever since.

Took a while for some of these designs to get to me. I have a number of rejected ones in my sketchpad. Might still play around with the colors and designs, but I think this is the gist.

To briefly explain: The Hobbit but no one dies, also Fili and Kili (then later Tauriel) meet my OC's and go on what seems like a minor adventure before the plot thickens.

First there's Linnea, an apothecary from Laketown. Fili meets her when the Company stops over at Laketown (in this AU, they arrive like what 5 days before Durin's Day?). Turns out she's a spy for Mirkwood and knows how to make more than just medicine. Also she's like 100-something years old (her dad was an elf, but she appears human cus genetics), and she's really just so Done with Middle Earth.

Then there's the twin elves: Callonduin and Calarphain. Callonduin is the thrill-seeking, orc-hunting, life of the party. He was born and raised in Rivendell, which is a great place, yet despite that, he has a whole host of emotional problems.

Calarphain is a pacifist and a friend to all living things. He was born weak but Galadriel saved him and he's now her apprentice in Lothlorien (where he grew up). He's got some really powerful and really suspicious light-based magic.

The twins meet Fili and Kili the spring after the BotFA because their dad, a diplomat participating in peace talks, brought them along.

There's one more guy but his design is still a huge "?" to me (he'll turn up eventually).

Another doodle. Callonduin looks pissed off here cus I was listening to a video about the doom of the Elves, a topic that throughly depresses him.

Your First Fandom: Harry Potter, back in the day. I left after the publication of the Order of the Phoenix.

Your Current Fandom: The Rings of Power. Hands down the best fandom I have ever been in.

How did you first get into fandom?: I actually never knew there was anything like fandom in pre-internet days. And one day I was googling "Voldemort" and that was when I discovered fanfiction.net. :-)

How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces?: 21 years, with occasional breaks. Mostly lurking, I have only been active in HP, Shadow and Bone/Grishaverse and The Rings of Power.

How often do you read fanfic?: Now that I no longer write, almost daily. It has become a part of my "prior to going to sleep" routine.

Top three characters from your current fandom?: Eh... Halbrand, Mairon and Sauron? :-D If I had to name three different characters, it would be five. :-) Halbrand, obviously, and Galadriel, as well as Elrond, Durin and Disa.

Have you ever written a fic for a fandom and if so, shout it out!:

I have. 20 years ago it was just one one-shot and some poetry. My real fanfic Muse emerged in 2021 with Shadow and Bone, until she insisted I switch to The Rings of Power.

Fire: A RoP one-shot. Genre: redeeming Mairon. Characters: Halbrand and Galadriel.

Tale of a King: A RoP "redeeming Mairon" novella that started as a version of Fire with a different ending, and got out of hand. It's the one I am most proud about. It jumps between 2nd and 4th age and between prose and poetry (excerpts from a fictional theatre play). Characters: Halbrand, Galadriel, Bronwyn and several OCs. Despite having both Hal and Gal as characters, this is the one that is not Haladriel.

Three of Hearts: A Grishaverse one-shot. Just like Tale of a King, it has excerpts from a fictional theatre play. Characters: Alina, Aleksander, Mal and one OC.

Have you ever drawn fan art for a fandom?: If the logos for the Sauron Appreciation Society and Human Halbrand Defense Squad count as fan art, then yes.

Share a personal headcanon that you feel strongly about: Team Repentant Sauron. Even though I know I am deluded. :-)

You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. what episode, clip, or scene are you showing them?: I have already managed to talk two people into watching RoP. My enthusiastic blabbering and sharing my videos did the trick.

Reunited: Y/N L/N surprises Tom Holland at No Way Home premiere

We were all stunned at the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home by the all-star cast making their appearances including Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch and the man himself Tom Holland.

But one person was missing. Tom’s wife, singer Y/N, was seemingly absent from supporting her husband.

Of course, everyone understood that she was busy pursuing her own career, 3 months into her 6 month world tour, after her third studio album released.

Y/N has been joined by the couple’s three-year-old daughter, little Rose Nicola Holland, throughout her tour across the continents. The mother-daughter pair were accompanied by Tom for a couple of months before being separated for his own press tour.

So naturally, everyone expected Tom to be going to the No Way Home premiere alone, without his wife and daughter - including Tom himself!

But, part way through his interviews, Tom was distracted by an all too familiar pair of girls pulling up to the red carpet. He immediately excused himself to go see his family.

Y/N arrived in a sexy red 2-piece and blazer, with a shy Rosie hoisted onto her hip and tucked into her neck. She was also sporting a cheeky red-lipped smile as her husband sped over to the two of them.

Tom immediately took hold of his little girl, and she instantly perked up at the sight of her dad, planting a sloppy kiss on his lips. Tom was seen wrapping his arm around his wife’s waist and whispering into her ear.

Over the course of the night, we got many cute snaps of the family together, with Tom and Y/N constantly fawning over their little girl, or sharing affectionate moments between each other.

The couple have been together for 6 years, meeting just before Tom was cast as Peter Parker and just after Y/N released her first studio album. They have always been a fan favourite, especially with us here at celebtattletale.

So it’s safe to say that Rose stole the show when she was born and now on the red carpet for the first time, being the perfect addition to this a-list couple.

And we just can’t help but hope that, at some point soon, Rose will be getting a little brother or sister. Those two do make beautiful babies.

Family Fun: Chris Evans heads to the coast for a day at the beach with wife and kids

This weekend, Chris Evans (40) was spotted taking his wife and kids out to the coast of Massachusetts to enjoy a day at the beach.

The whole family were seen splashing about in the sea, a couple of the kids jumping over the waves, with the help of Chris, while wife Y/N (33) held the newest addition close to her chest.

Two months ago, the couple added baby Belle to their ever growing brood with Christopher Jr. (6), Flynn (4) and Mickey (3). At least now Mama Evans finally gets another girl in the house!

The family of six could be seen playing in the water in an array of colourful swimsuits. Y/N appeared in a black bikini, looking radiant with some of her postpartum baby belly clinging to her stomach.

Chris was evidently shirtless as he showed of his abs and chest hair in a pair of swimming trunks.

It was easy to see from the pictures that the paparazzi captured of Chris that a new tattoo has emerged, joining the collection he has on the side of his ribs.

During previous outings, fans had spotted that Chris had his kids names written on the right side of his body, and found his devotion to his family adorable.

And now little Belle's name is sat with the rest of them!

At any rate, the Evans family seemed to have fun at the beach, although the children were reportedly seem grimacing at their parents kissing.

Y/N and Chris have been together for nine years now and had a lovely winter wedding in 2015 when Y/N was already pregnant with their first child.

But we cannot fault the couple for their endless love, or the obvious devotion for their kids that they display constantly. Whenever Chris brings his family to an event, the world swoons at the perfection and displays of affection Chris shows to his wife and kids.

And this weekend seemed much the same, with Chris seen carrying his children on his shoulders and building sandcastles with them.

What an adorable sight!

Surprise at the Oscars! Y/N L/N is pregnant with husband Henry Cavill’s baby

Y/N L/N (32) is pregnant! Last weekend she attended the Oscars with husband Henry Cavill (38), showing off her sizeable bump to the whole world.

Y/N was nominated as best actress in a leading role for her part as Lowen Ashleigh in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s romance thriller ‘Verity’.

The film was delightfully disturbing, with psychological terror and romantic drama spiced with lusty sex scenes.

And it was no surprise when she won, helped up on stage by Henry whilst cradling her stomach protectively beneath her dress. Henry barely let go of her and kissed her cheek as she went up on stage.

Y/N was looking gorgeous in an ivory, tulle gown with delicate flowers embroidered along the bodice and her shoulders. The tea-length style dress bulged over the actress’ belly beautifully.

And it wasn’t only Y/N showered with praise. In her speech, many references were made to her husband, Henry, thanking him for his support and love.

This all-star couple have been together for 7 years in total and married for 3 and the whole world has loved watching their relationship grow and blossom.

The two met in 2014 through a mutual friend and the tabloids went wild after seeing the two out to lunch together. However Henry admitted that it took him 8 more months to ask her out!

Both actors kept us waiting, with it taking another 4 years for them to announce that they had gotten married. Photos of the wedding were released a few weeks after their honeymoon to Greece.

They married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony from what we could see with Henry looking absolutely dashing in his suit and Y/N stunning both him and us in her dress.

And ever since, everyone has been waiting to see a baby Cavill appear. I guess we won’t have to wait much longer…

Y/N is seven months pregnant but neither actor has revealed the sex of the baby or even whether they know themselves. At least we do know that with such beautiful parents that baby will be adorable.

This is most definitely the best surprise we could have gotten at the Oscars this year!

How Young? Chris Evans reveals he got married at just 19 years old

Chris Evans (40) has always been an actor that was openly devoted to his family and ever since he appeared on our screens there have been no dating scandals or other public controversies.

And that’s probably because he’s been married for as long as the world has known him and is constantly adding to his brood of adorable children.

Last night, Chris appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, promoting the launch of one of his newest projects, 'Lightyear', a story of Buzz Lightyear and his adventures to infinity and beyond.

Chris appeared looking sexy as ever in a blue suit, highlighting his muscles.

When Jimmy brought up who was most looking forward to seeing the animated movie, Chris immediately answered that his kids had been begging to see it ever since they found out that their dad was going to Buzz Lightyear.

It was then that Jimmy brought out a cute photo of Chris, his wife Y/N (39) and their 5 kids:

The picture captured the 7 Evans's at a family event in their garden, a year after the birth of little Laurelai. And all members of the family looked their best, especially Y/N in a cute navy dress with a white floral pattern and low neckline.

Jimmy went on to ask Chris how long he and his wife had actually been married, as Chris became an actor fairly young and there was never a point where Y/N didn't seem to have been there.

Chris revealed that 'we got married right after her high school graduation, a year after I had graduated myself, so I was 19 and she was 18.

'We met in Y/N’s freshman year - my sophomore year - when she joined the cheerleading squad and I was part of the football team. Such a cliché, i know.

‘Once I finally asked her out, we dated all throughout high school.We were that couple that was obnoxiously in love, always holding hands and making out in the hallway.

‘And then after she finished school, we figured why wait? So we got married in a little ceremony in my mom’s back yard.’

When asked if it was tough being married at such a young age and then having his first kid only a few years later, Chris replied that it was difficult with Y/N getting her degree and him starting his acting career, but they made it work by just keeping talking to each other.

And now the high school sweethearts are as close as ever, living with their 3 sons, 2 daughters and 2 dogs - Dodger and Pixie, in Boston in the house that Y/N designed herself after she became an architect.

Missing Ring? Fans spot that Chris Evans' newly-wed is missing a certain piece of jewellery

Two weeks ago, Chris Evans (40) got married to the love of his life and partner of four years, Y/N L/N (28) in a small backyard ceremony in his hometown of Boston.

Everyone went wild when Chris posted a picture of him and his beautiful bride on Instagram after not revealing any information about his upcoming wedding, other than one would be coming.

And we here at celebtattletale can say with certainty that Chris chose a beautiful woman to spend the rest of his life with.

Fans have adored Y/N ever since Chris confirmed that he was in a relationship with a young woman back in Boston, and love seeing pictures of her and Dodger being posted.

She looked stunning on their wedding day, with her arms linked with Chris' in his simple suit, clinging to his muscles. Y/N wore a stunning white dress, flowing about her ankles.

And now Chris and his newly-wed wife have set off on their honeymoon to Italy. They have spent the past two weeks there enjoying marital bliss and trying to keep to themselves.

Chris has posted just one photo of their trip and fans couldn't help but notice that something was missing from the picture that Chris captioned: 'with you'.

Throughout their relationship, Chris has spoken about how many people noticed that his girlfriend wore a ring on her left ring finger, although the couple were not engaged.

The ring was in fact a purity ring, and despite not telling the public whether Y/N wore it for religious reasons or not, Chris has said that he supported her decision to keep that part of herself for herself only until she felt ready.

And although, the idea of purity rings has been criticised in the media, fans have applauded Y/N for choosing to remain abstinent until she wanted to share that.

So when they spotted that the ring was missing from her finger, everyone on Instagram began searching for the piece of jewellery, as it is usually worn by the partner or kept.

Last weekend, Chris and Y/N were seen snuggling up on their honeymoon by a paparazzo and when the pictures were published, it did not take long for people to spot the ring on a chain around Chris' neck!

While we hope that the couple spend the rest of their honeymoon in peace, we cannot help but adore their devotion to one another and how they support each other.

Kirby's P.O.V:

"Stop, no, Eddie, ya hands are freezin'." Kirby giggles, her voice sounding more Irish than usual.

Eddie's eyes brighten, "Say that again."

"Say what again?"

"What ya just said."

"Wha? Freezin'?" Her accent thickens as she, fully, drops the 'work voice' she uses around English speakers.

Eddie kisses her deeply, pulling away to whisper against her lips, "Ya voice is much sexier with the accent."

"If you react like that when ya meet my family, ya gonna have a ragin' stiffy the entire time we're there."

"You think I care about that, when ya voice is so sexy, C'mere." Eddie pulls Kirby onto his lap, kissing her deeply.

"You go do ya work, I'll stay here and do mine, okay, a stór [my treasure]?"

"A'ight, Ma, I'll let ya sort everythin' out. I'll make sure we see ya family durin' the holidays."

"Okay, my darlin', I love you."

"I love ya, so fuckin' much, my Celtic princess."

"My American boy, Soldier of New York."

Eddie gives Kirby one final kiss before he heads off, it's short but sweet, and Kirby's left smiling after he leaves.

During the show, four photos 'glitch' onto the screen, the first during the first match, the second during the second match, and so on, the only untouched match is Moxley vs Omega. All four are put there intentionally. All four were agreed upon by Tony Khan and us... I hope people get the message loud and clear.

A couple days pass, Kirby moves all of her stuff into Eddie's home again, she gives up her life in Virginia fully, returning to the wrestling world. The only difference is that she's no longer brainwashed by Damien. On the 9th Eddie has work and Kirby comes with him.

A further four images are shown, this time avoiding Eddie's match. That match has whispers all throughout it, playing over the loudspeakers.

"The road to hell is a one way track, I'm driving backwards to escape it." Is the first line, two minutes into the match.

Around two minutes later comes the second whisper, "Some bridges must be burned."

Another two minutes pass and a third whisper is heard, "Some demons have demons, it's time to fight mine."

Right before the end of the match comes the forth and final whispered line, "I speak the ugly truths, his hounds never listen."

Eddie ignores Kirby's plans to celebrate his 39th birthday, opting to stay in bed together, and Eddie sleeps for the majority of the day. Kirby works beside him and chuckles when Eddie wakes up, only to kiss her. Eddie manages to convince her to have 'birthday sex' with him, several times over, and unprotected each time.

Eddie and Kirby fly out to Wales on the 18th, spending Christmas with her parents, before flying back to Jacksonville on the 27th. Eddie goes to work for the tribute show on the 30th. Kirby stays in their hotel, she sits in bed all day, numb from the news, only moving for food, or to get a bottle of water, or to throw up. Eddie makes sure they fly home, to New York, that night, immediately going to bed with Kirby and falling asleep.

Kirby wakes up to the sound of Eddie humming, she checks her phone '10:00 Thursday 31 December', "Shit, ten am, I slept in, fuck." she whispers to herself.

"Wifey," Eddie smirks from the doorway, "Got ya somethin', several things, also..." he leaves for a moment, coming back with Homicide by his side, "look who came over." Eddie beams.

"That's all well and good, now go away so I can get dressed."

Eddie pushes Homicide out of the doorway, and looks at Kirby intently, his body filling the doorway, "Sexy Wifey?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Edward, ya know damn well I sleep in my underwear... only reason I don' have a bra on, is 'cause ya broke it."

Eddie closes the bedroom door behind himself, climbing on the bed and pinning Kirby underneath him, kissing every inch of skin he can get to. He gets up and watches her get dressed, pulling her into a gentle kiss, refusing to let her be more than an arm's length away from him.

"So sexy, my wife, sexiest woman in the world, ya so fuckin' beautiful, and ya mine, an-"

Kirby kisses Eddie to shut him up, "Eddie, shush, ya got me stuff, I would like ta know what."

Eddie hoists her over his shoulder, she makes herself comfy, he proceeds to carry her out to the back patio. Homicide shakes his head as he looks at Eddie, whispering something in Spanish that Kirby doesn't fully hear, he chuckles when Eddie puts Kirby down.

"Hi Nelson."

"Ey, Mami, ya married his idiotic ass?" Homicide jokes, earning himself a 'you stfu' look from Eddie.

"Eddie, do not start 'effin and blindin' at this time of the mornin'." Kirby warns.

Homicide looks at Kirby like she's an alien and Eddie chuckles.

"I won't, I promised ya mother I'd be respectful around ya," Eddie smiles softly, "I will, howeva, tell you to eat the breakfast I got ya."

"A chopped cheese ain't breakfast." Homicide murmurs.

"Eddie, stop glarin' at 'im. As my grandmother would say, stop glarin', stop gawkin', keep talkin'."

"Why do ya talk like tha'?"

"Because, Nelson, I was raised by a primarily Irish family, who speak Irish slang an' have Irish accents. I, me self, was born in Kilkenny in Ireland." Kirby explains, midway through eating her 'breakfast', aka the chopped cheese Eddie bought her.

"You were born in Ireland?" Eddie asks, a beaming grin on his face.

"Yeah, I thought my Da told ya."

Eddie shakes his head 'no', lifting Kirby's head to kiss her passionately, refusing to leave her side, even as he lights up a cigarette.

"My wifey, my Irish woman. For so long, I thought you were born in Wales, but ya weren't. Can you eat faster, I wanna make a baby."

"Fuckin' niño [child/boy]." Homicide groans.

"With how my stomach's been actin' up recently, ya already have." Kirby mumbles.

Both Eddie and Homicide go still, Kirby can feel them staring at her.

"The feck are ya gawkin' at me for, your the dope who wanted ta have 'birthday sex'."

"Homicide, keep her there, I'm gettin' a fuckin' pregnancy test." Eddie grabs his wallet and rushes off, leaving Kirby with Nelson for around ten minutes.

"Ya married him?" Nelson/Homicide asks.

"Indeed I did."

"Congrats. Ya think ya pregnant?"

"At the least it's a stomach bug, but considering the amount of times me and Ed have, you know, 'gone at it', I'll be fuckin surprised if I ain't up the duff."

"Ya gon' let him smoke aroun' the baby?"

"Eddie's smart enough to know not ta. I trust him on that."

"So... ya got any name ideas?"

"Something with an 'E' at the beginning," She murmurs as she finishes her breakfast, "I gotta put this in the bin, so we gotta go inside."

Homicide follows Kirby into the house, taking in the changes she's made to the place. Kirby smiles when she sees Homicide smile.

"This place..."

"Actually feels like a home now?"

"Yea, I like it." Homicide murmurs.

"Thanks, I kinda want to paint the walls, but that's for another day." Kirby shrugs.

"I thought I told you to keep her there." Eddie grumbles as he walks back into the house.

"Hey Papi."

"Hey Ma, go figure out how to use this, I gotta figure out how to gain back street cred."

Kirby takes the box and goes to the bathroom. It'll be fine, it's too early to tell.

She quickly figures out how to use the test and does so. Oh well, time to pee on a stick.

She paces back and forth as she waits for the results. God, could this take any longer.

She looks at the 'stick' and freezes in shock. How am I gonna tell Eddie?

"Oh fuck... Homicide, make Eddie sit down!" She hollers through the door, taking a deep breath and grabbing the test, checking her pulse before leaving the bathroom.

"Ya not, ya not or the test is too early, or somethin' right?" Eddie asks, his eyes wider than usual.

"Edward, you know ya love me." She mutters, holding the test behind her back.

"Yeah, you're my calm." He smiles softly.

"Would you love me if I was chubbier... say nine months chubbier?" She asks, handing him the test.

Eddie looks at the test, then at Kirby, then back at the test, then back at Kirby. He beams, getting up from his seat, picking Kirby up and spinning her in his arms, "I'm gonna be a dad, I'm gonna be a motherfuckin' father." He chuckles wildly, putting Kirby down and pulling her into a passionate kiss.

Kirby smiles softly, "We're gonna be parents. We're gonna have a kid, there's gonna be a little mix of us running around."

Eddie hoists Kirby over his shoulder, "where the fuck is my phone? I gotta call Moxie, and Ma, and your father, and I gotta tell Eric, and my dad..."

"Eddie, breathe. Breathe, my handsome warrior, breathe." Kirby whispers.

Eddie keeps Kirby in his arms, grabbing his phone and calling everyone he can, and practically getting in a shouting match with Moxley, his brother, Eric, and his dad, Earl. About an hour after calling Ruth, she knocks on the door.

"Edward, let me in!" Ruthie yells through the door.

Kirby slinks her way out of Eddie's grasp, and goes to let her in, immediately being pulled into a hug.

"Hi, Ruthie." She sighs happily.

"Eddie told me the news."

"I know," Kirby giggles, "he had me over his shoulder when he called you."

"Eddie and you are the greatest thing to happen to each other, mi nuera [my daughter-in-law]. I'm so glad Eddie has you, you keep my son happy and calm. I may be his mother, but from now on we both will worry about him, don't let your fear mess with the baby's health. I'm always a phone call away." Ruth whispers, cupping Kirby's face in her hands before pulling her into a hug.

"Gracias, mi suegra [Thanks, my mother-in-law], if you ever need anything from me, Mamá [Mother], don't hesitate to call." Kirby whispers, pulling away and wiping her eyes.

"Everythin' okay over here? Ma, sweetheart, where you two cryin'?" Eddie asks, gently hugging his mother.

"Maybe... a'ight, yeah, but in my defence, it's not everyday that I get to have a sweet moment with ya Mam."

"C'mere, baby mama," Eddie chuckles softly, "let me hug both women in my life."

Kirby joins in the hug, kissing Eddie as she takes in the moment. Her husband, Eddie, her mother-in-law and the baby, or babies, growing in her womb, for the first time, in a long time, she feels like all's right with the world.

Kirby's parents are the next to find to find out, her Da whooping and hollering that his family's legacy will be continued, her Mam crying tears of happiness, and wishing the best for the 'young' couple.

The final person to find out, through Kirby and Eddie, is their boss, Tony Khan. Tony wishes them well, and tells them that Kirby can continue to work, as long as she doesn't get in the ring. Kirby agrees with the compromise.

She relaxes for the last few days of the year, and the first two of 2021, eventually getting bored of laying around and doing nothing.

"Eddie, baby daddy, Papi." Kirby calls from the bed as Eddie showers.

"Yeah, sexy Mami?" He calls back.

"There's ten days 'till my birthday, what do ya wanna do?"

Eddie smirks as he walks over, a towel around his waist, "I think you know what I wanna do, Ma."

He lets the towel drop and goes to kiss Kirby. She puts her hand in front of his face to block him.

"Ya already got me up the duff, Kingy, and we gotta fly back to Jacksonville soon. So, what do you wanna do before we leave?"

"I wanna fuck my wife, ya know, let her know I fuckin' love her." He chuckles.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Summary: A celebration of summer solstice goes better than expected - sharing your customs really pays off.

Featuring: Kili x gn! reader, kinda Slavic reader, dwarven and Slavic-themed midsummer traditions, mentions of Bagginshield, also featuring my dear friend @the-axe-lass and her beloved Dwalin :) proofreading done by @erosofthepen

Erebor’s main market was particularly overflowing today, with dwarves and men alike. Cheerful conversation mixed into a pleasant buzz as everyone went about their business. However now, in the middle of June, mundane chores were brushed aside, and preparations for a Midsummer festival were in full swing.

Dwarves just loved winter holidays - Durin’s Day, Yule, and any other you could possibly think of - but you had to admit, they did not dismiss the summer solstice. And neither did the men from the kingdom of Dale, preparing countless bonfires, boats and lanterns.

Despite the festival being in over a week, your dear hobbit friend, Axe, absolutely insisted on going to the market today in search of the best ingredients for any holiday dish there might be in store. Now, you tried to keep up with her as you pushed through the dense crowd.

“Those look just wonderful, don’t you think?” Axe said as she held up a pair of earrings next to her face, the precious gems gleaming, the metal around them smithed with finesse.

“Will you be buying them for the celebrations?” You stood behind her, gazing in the small mirror and admiring the dwarven craft.

“I don’t know, maybe. I heard those stones are a good-luck charm around here.”

“Let’s hope your favourite warrior attends the feast then, so the charm will have a chance to work, hm?” You grinned mischievously as the hobbit blushed a deep cherry, muttering something about Dwalin “having to attend as a royal guard” and “totally not going there to see anyone”. In an attempt to recover, she quickly changed the topic, rambling about the Shire’s customs - the dances, gathering herbs, baking and, above all, Gandalf’s fireworks.

“Well now, now, you didn’t tell me about your traditions! I must hear them!” She bumped your shoulder encouragingly.

“We celebrate the night of the solstice, and there’s lots of stuff about bonfires - dancing around them, jumping over the fire, burning herbs. Wreaths are a big thing - they’re woven out of flowers and herbs. In the old times, young maidens used to place a candle in their wreath and let it float down a river. Boys would wait lower, and if they caught a wreath, they’d go and search for its owner, and often that’s how romance started. Nowadays, even giving someone a flower crown on that night can be a romantic sign.”

Axe seemed to be deep in thought all of a sudden. “So, a nice wreath on the night of midsummer could be a courting gift? A way to ask someone out?”

“Pretty much, yeah” you replied, brows furrowed at your friend’s odd antics. “Why do you ask?”

“Oh, I was just curious.”

The day finally came, and it was filled with laughter, songs, food and drinks. Ribbons decorated all of Dale, and banners with intricate patterns were hung in Erebor. Dwarves, per their tradition, spent most of the day in the forges. The fires of hearths at midsummer were thought to be sacred, and their heat could forge the strongest weapons that were usually meant as a gift for royalty or loved ones.You could have sworn you saw the King, Thorin Oakenshield himself sneaking out of the forges with a mysterious package, but you had to wait until the evening to find out what it could have been.

And finally, the night came, and when it did, it was unrivalled in its splendour. The air was hot and thick with smoke, and the stars shone bright over the cities. It was one of the very few nights when most of Erebor dined and celebrated under the night sky, not in their glorious stone halls. Dozens of people joined together to dance through the streets, and around the tall bonfires. The herbs that were burned gave the air an intoxicating scent, which only seemed to encourage you to fill your goblet and dance away the night.

Your friends seemed to have disappeared somewhere into the crowd, so not thinking much, you joined the nearest group and let yourself be carried through the fields. You twirled, jumped and laughed, trying to sing along to the foreign tune of people from Dale, and marvelling at their flutes and bagpipes. Their culture was still foreign to you, as you were someone from outside of Middle Earth. Your white linen shirt and its embroideries did not match their garb, but they took you in with open arms like their kin, and you celebrated among them.

The dancing crowd carried you to the tallest hill between Dale and Erebor, and in your fervour you bumped into a large wooden table, and promptly apologised as you almost knocked out a pint of ale.

Only when Fili laughed lightheartedly at you, had you realised that this table is the royal one, with Thorin's throne in the middle, and the whole court sat around it.

And as you were pushed away again, you saw Kili.

You had always been drawn to him, ever since meeting him, ever since going on a perilous journey by his side. Even if other dwarves had taunted him for his lack of beard or pointy features, you had always quietly admired his beauty. To be honest, you didn't even notice the day when you woke up, and he was already engrained deep in your heart.

And he wasn't helping at all. He sat next to you by the fire, sharpened your weapons, defended you from orcs even when he didn't have to.

You danced around each other during the journey, unsure of the other’s feelings, afraid of rejection and humiliation, but constantly in fear the other might perish in battle. Now, in times of peace, it seemed even harder. Royal duties took his company away from you, the two of you only sharing looks across corridors now instead of honest conversations by the fire as you used to.

But now, there he was - mithril and gems that were sewn into his tunic gleaming in firelight, his eyes trained on you. You broke away from the dancing circle and sent him a smile over the flames.

Maybe tonight, fate would bring you two together. It was the summer solstice after all, a night of magic and festivities. But no, you brushed that idea aside. To dwarves, the solstice was barely a milestone, an indicator that it’s already halfway to the Day of Durin. Maybe it was a day full of festivities, but it was nothing like it was back home. In your culture, the solstice, Kupała’s night, was truly a day of fire: jumping over bonfires, walking on coals and dancing with torches, but first and foremost, it was a day of fire in lovers’ hearts. Wreaths were woven with the intention of finding love, soft promises were spoken under the moonlight, and often this was the only night when two young people were allowed to walk away and cherish one another’s company in quiet groves.

But how could he know that? The sly smile on his face couldn’t have meant anything. Especially that after breaking eye contact, he seemed to have already forgotten of your existence, filling his goblet with warm wine and chatting with Thorin, who looked off into the distance like he didn’t hear his nephew.

You were taken by the current of the dancing masses, losing sight of the royal table and getting further away from it, even though you desperately wished to go closer. You saw your friends in the crowd - Bofur was already standing on a nearby table and serenading, Axe and Dwalin on his left, holding hands as they finally danced together, both blushing but lost in the moment. Truly, this must have been the very first time you saw the tough warrior’s cheeks redden. Love really has an odd effect on people. And Bilbo, who after all decided to stay in Erebor, tried to look completely unbothered and only interested in the pie before him, but you couldn’t help but notice the not-really-sneaky glances he shot in the general direction of the royal table and Thorin’s chair.

Maitimo's left hand was still caught and so he could do nothing but follow dumbly when Finno pulled him closer to the water and bent to trail fingers through the shaded mirror of the forest pool.

"Hold still," Finno said. Maitimo would have turned to stone and remained unmoving until Arda Remade, if Finno had asked him to. He couldn't help the shiver that raced down his back when damp fingers wiped at his temple, his cheek. Each brush turned the skin beneath it liquid, yielding, desperate.

Don't go, he thought when Finno bent to wet his fingertips again. He wanted Finno to never let go of his hand, for him to close his teeth around Maitimo's throat and shake. He wanted to press Finno to the ground and pull the gold ribbons from his braids and follow the spill of his dark hair into the forest pool with reverent fingers.

~ This post will not be usin’ plural acknowledgments, as it is just I (lynx) typin’.

~ So fuckin' tired of my family only ever seein' me as a hypochondriac. Like yeah, I can admit, I occasionally have hypochondriac tendencies; but that's only due to my schizophrenia. 90% of the time it's genuine problems/concerns.

~ They've seen me as a hypochondriac since I was a kid. Bein' 11 with chronic pain, bein' told I'm fine or that it's "just growin' pains" or anxiety. Fuck you. Guess who recently was finally able to get diagnosed with fibromyalgia? ME. It wasn't just growin' pains. I'm only 4'10 FT. I've always been a slow grower. Plus I've been done growin' since 2017, when I was like 12-13 or so. (I'm not good at math) So wtf. ON TOP OF THAT, I might have a connective tissue disorder, or some type of hypermobility disorder.

~ No matter what I talk 'bout, even the slightest problem, even extreme problems; I'm just a fuckin' hypochondriac to everyone. Like fuck off, please. Y'know how hard it's been to already get diagnosed with what I've been diagnosed with? Both mental & physical? It's even harder to try to get a diagnostic or figure out if I have EDS, ME/CFS, Endometriosis, & POTS. If I do have EDS, which yes I'm seein' a doctor for, that could explain ALL those comorbidities. They're all VERY common with EDS. But noooo, if I even suggest the fact that I think this could be what it is, I get shut down. I bring up my symptoms, shit that I deal with DAILY, ALL DAY, for literal YEARS; & they don't fuckin' care. Like yeah, they'll take me to my appointments. But that's it. Do they care to listen 'bout my concerns/problems? No. Do they provide comfort? No. Do they give me actual beneficial constructive criticism? No. They don't do that shit.

~ HELL, at one point in time I was havin' such severe kidney pain/problems, that I would get nauseous, double over in pain, & feel like faintin'. Y'know what happened? I had to wait a MONTH, A FUCKIN' MONTH, to actually be listened to by my parents; especially by my dad, since he's so fuckin' shit at understandin' or sympathizin' with anyone over mental or physical health. (that's a whole other long ass rant) It took a month of complainin' & pain, to the point where I was hurdled in fetal position, on my dogs bed, holdin' my kidney area; to actually convince him to take me to the ER. Well guess what? Turns out it was a UTI that turned into a DOUBLE kidney infection. For a month I was dealin' with an untreated double kidney infection. A FUCKIN' MONTH. WTF.

~ I had another CT scan yesterday, this time with contrast. (I've had a swollen persistent lymph node since october 2021) What does my dad do the whole ride there? Complain bout how long my appointments take. Bro. I've had a lot of appointments lately, & all he does is complain. You hate waitin' durin' these appointments? Imagine how I feel livin' with this shit, & not gettin' any fuckin' answers. Hell, I even got my first ||pelvic exam|| this week, which is a traumatic thing for me, due to past trauma. Did he care to sympathize at all on the way to the appointment or after? Nope. I wasn't surprised in the slightest.

~ Anyways, I was checkin' my health app, just waitin' for my newest CT results (they said it'll take 1-3 days), & was goin' through my old results; just makin' sure all is well. I was readin' the results from my last CT scan in April (with no contrast, so it didn't actually check the lymph node), & thankfully my rib bones aren't slipped or hurt. I did however see a section that said my Lower spine (in multiple areas), has some Schmorl's nodes. I wasn't informed of that over the phone, so I checked what it was real quick & supposedly it can be a herniated or misplacement of the spine? Idk entirely. Google isn't always great, so I take it with a grain of salt. But anyways, as someone with chronic back pain, it's nice to know what could be partially causin' it. Well, I talked to my mom & dad 'bout it, since they also didn't know; my mom acted decent I supposed (she handles some of this stuff better than him), but my dad was just makin' me out to be a hypochondriac. Just for askin' him if he knew what it was, since he also has back problems.

~ I swear, I hate this family so much. I hate this family, I hate my shitty ass health, I hate those who have ingrained internalized ableism in me, I hate the bs medical field that doesn't listen to AFAB individuals. I hate it. I have so much internalized ableism for myself. It fuckin' sucks. I hate lookin' in the mirror everyday, & tellin' myself "I'm not disabled enough" or "what if I'm fakin' this" "what if I just want attention". It's so fuckin' exhaustin'. I'm tired of it. I can't even get a wheelchair yet since 1: I can't work & get money for one 2: I Live in a small upstairs apartment, & our shed is weird 3: the amount of internalized ableism I have 4: the shitty ass remarks I'll get from strangers, but even from family. My dad has made remarks 'bout my mobility aids before. (I have a cane & rollator-walker) He's diagnosed with NPD, & over these past few years it's gotten worse. Not shamin' other with NPD, since havin' personality/mood disorders is a pain (talkin' from personal experience), I'm just shamin' my dad; he's such an ass.

~ I'm just tired of havin' all these pent up negative emotions, all this internalized ableism, all these problems. My life has been hell since I was young, but these past few years have been especially hard. I just turned 18 & I've already faced a shit ton of challenges. I'm exhausted y'all. Both in a mental sense, & a physical sense.

~ Believe me, I could make this rant WAY longer, but at this point I'm too exhausted to get anymore out. I'm just so upset & angry right now. Also, apologies if the cursin' is viewed as excessive. It's how I tend to let my anger out. Also, me sayin' "fuck you" or "fuck off" is to /nbh . It's to people offline. Just to clarify! I hope y'all are well.

Hello, hello!

As promised, we will try to run a Durin’s Day Gift Exchange again this year, provided we get a minimum of 10 people signed up :) If we can’t get enough people, we’ll try to run a different event or have a break.

You know how everybody is always going: ‘I’d die if someone drew something based on what I write!’ and ‘I wish someone wrote me something based on what I draw!’? We’re going to make this happen for you!

Now, according to this source, the Durin’s Day this year falls on the 6th of October. What a perfect opportunity to make someone’s day, we thought!

The Plan:

We’re looking to pair up fanartists (including graphics/edits makers) with fanfic authors

If you sign up, you will be expected to create a gift for your partner: either as a part of a joint collab or based on their existing works (art or fic)

If you decide to do a collab, it has to be a brand new idea (not an existing verse), which the two of you will work on together, one writing, the other doing the art for it.

If you decide to base your gift on your partner’s existing work, you can pick anything they published so far. You will have a month to familiarise yourself with their works and create your gift. As a bonus, your own work gets some extra exposure too :)

Guideline effort required: we suggest minimum around 3.5k words and ah, equivalent in artwork. (How do you quantify artwork?!) Like, decent stuff, folks.

Whatever you create is kept a secret until the 6th of Oct (i.e. Durin’s Day), when everyone posts their gifts.

Tag your creations #Durin’s Day 2021 (with spaces) and we will reblog it

Please Note:

You agree that someone else creates something based on your work. Could be a spin-off, fanart, little story, graphic etc. But basically it’s somebody else’s interpretation of your universe.

We accept all the usual pairings (i.e. Fili/Kili or any fictional pairings based on Dean’s and Aidan’s characters). We’ll do our best to accommodate pairing preferences, butif we can’t, we’ll contact you.

The worst thing that could happen with this event is if multiple people drop off throughout. Whilst we understand that RL > fandom, please keep in mind that someone else is creating something based on your work and will be looking forward to it just as much as you are. Please keep your partner and us updated with your progress.

28 Aug - 03 Sept (ish) - Both Artist and Writer signups open

4th Sept - Pairs are assigned at random and published in a post

6th Oct - You post your gifts for each other, we reblog them

We will also consider some gen (non-shippy) pairs, if we happen to get both artists and writers who don't ship the characters (e.g. Fili & Kili)

This event is on a first come, first served basis, so please sign up as soon as you are committed to taking part

Regardless of how many sign ups we receive in total, we will only go with as many pairs as is possible to create based on artist/writer ratio and your pairing preferences, for example: 7 fanartists = we can sign up to 7 writers

We will likely have some backup writers, who will be expected to fill in, in case of any emergency drop-outs.

It is entirely possible that some overeager organisers might go canvassing during the signup times…
