#Fourth Sister

This is just extrapolating from scraps in one trailer, but I really hope I'm right about this: the inquisitors don't understand Barriss at all and it's going to bite them.
Barriss doesn't say anything in the trailer, nothing suggesting agreement. Barriss also doesn’t say or do anything which could suggest disloyalty. She is going along with every step of training, avoiding attention and waiting for her opportunity. Literally keeping her head down, as she is the first to bow to Vader.
Stuck in an environment she hates, doing things against her better judgement because she's ordered to, trusting nobody around her, and pretending none of it bothers her. Barriss was in the exact same position before betraying the Jedi, and those were people she liked. This time, she's got past experience to draw on and absolutely no reason to hesitate.
She murdered her way into this situation, she can murder her way out.

Dissecting Tales of the Empire (Barriss stuff)
So let's break down all the Barriss stuff in the trailer:
There's an Inquisitor Shuttle approaching Our - likely after she is freed from prison
When Barriss is freed from her cell
This little bit is actually quite interesting. First of all Barriss is wearing a prison symbol with the emblem of the Jedi Order on the shoulder.
The clone troopers are Republic Shock Troopers, The Coruscant guard.
Fourth Sister is actually wearing Jedi robes not an Inquisitor uniform, she's already fallen to the Dark side as evidenced by the eyes.
This is suggesting that Barriss is freed from somewhat close to the end of Revenge of Sith
Also the framing of Barriss in prison is very similar to Luminara's hologram in Rebels.
Barriss's eyes are really blue in this scene. Like more so than other ones.
Barriss walking down a hallway
Pretty self explanatory. She's walking down a hallway. She's wearing Robes that a likely Inquisitorius initiate robes. (Or maybe it wasn't Laundry day and Barriss's uniform wasn't ready)
The Clones are just Regs in Phase 2 armour. It looks like Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur.
Speculation: Barriss is giving a little side glance, she's either taking her environment or she's plotting something.
The Grand Inquisitor scene
When then see the Grand Inquisitor leading Barriss into a room with several lightsabers
None of the Lightsabers are Luminara's (Trust me i double checked Weapon's Factory.) They are most likely reused models and generic sabres - because animation and props design is hard and short cuts should be taken whenever you can.
.....but two of those lightsabers are very close to Barriss's lightsaber.
The one in the middle doesn't seem to hold a significance (The bottom of the hilt slightly resembles Ahsoka's Padawan lightsaber, and you could go Green symbolic of Luminara.)
....wouldn't it be just awful if its Tutso Mara's lightsaber?
Inquisitor and Barriss have a sparring session, he tries to get her to use Anger and slams her into the roof, she's noticeably angry.
"Mercy only breeds defeat, i will help you overcome this weakness."
This line is interesting because it's not the usual only your Hatred can strike me down line, the Grand Inquisitor is actually being polite and offering a twisted form of assistance.
Which brings me to a thought - The Grand Inquisitor was right beside Barriss during her big confession at Ahsoka's trial, he's probably going to see her as someone that they don't have to break or torture.
Fourth Sister using Spinning Lightsaber
So this is a very short sequence. The Fourth Sister is in an area with a Rock wall, jumps down, glances around nervously, spins her blade and looks up.
Speculation: Something hasn't gone to plan, maybe the Jedi later in trailer is tougher, or maybe someone else has swapped sides...
The Jedi Fight
This shot opens with Barriss in a proper Inquisitor Uniform and her own useless spinning lightsaber running towards Fourth Sister and an unknown Jedi with a blue Saber
During the fight we can see ITS NOT LUMINARA, this Jedi has a different facial structure, skin tone and likely human.
We can also see who i assume is Barriss looking like she is hesitating on what to do.
We then cut to a different seen of a hooded figure using the force to blow away B2 Super Battle Droids. This implies its during the clone wars and the hooded figure is very likely Barriss cause that silhouette is very similar.
The figure is illuminated by a white glow and it's probably a part of sequence meant to show Barriss before she went nuts - cause its been 11 years so new viewers might not know this character who only appeared in technically 7 eps at most is...
FIGHT TO THE DEATH
Fight to death between Barriss and an unknown initiate.
Grand Inquisitor throws a lightsaber between the two - no its not Barriss's lightsaber
Ray shields go up. Initiate who i'm calling Glup, goes for the Saber. The crystal has been bled so it's red.
Glup and Barriss fight and Barriss goes for the sky high kick or possibly punch to the head.
THE NEW MASTER
'it is time to meet your new Master."
This implies the initiates don't meet Vader until they're full members.
We see Barriss lined up with the other Inquisitors - she's in full uniform. Really hard to tell if her eyes are dark side yellow or not. (They still look Blue compared to Fourth's)
Also it's really funny to me that she's lined up with Bird face Inquisitor, Marrok and Fourth Sister, cause everyone said all of those Inquisitors was Barriss Offee.
They all kneel, Barriss goes down first.
Vader walks past and Barriss looks up slightly and watches him...and she immediately frowns and furrows her eyebrows.
She's plotting something....
Interesting note: Since bird face is alive and has his head perfectly attached to his neck still, This places Barriss's eps of Tales of the Empire prior to Ahsoka's last ep of Tales of the Jedi
Look i can hope for Barriss to escape and then we seen the back of Ahsoka walk into frame....

I’ve probably talked about this before, but now that she’s actually coming back, I would like to reiterate my hopes and fears for Barriss Offee.
I’ll start by saying that I do not think that Barriss accepting her role as an Inquisitor with open arms is very likely.
I mean, her whole reason for blowing up the Jedi temple in the first place was because she thought that the Jedi had become an army fighting for the darkness. So, her openly embracing the ideology of the Empire seems wildly out of character. For this reason, my hope for her would be that she is doing what she must to survive, that she is using her status as an Inquisitor as a springboard for escape, and that she will succeed in her efforts.
My fear for her is that she absolutely will not survive. The likelihood of her getting offed in this is relatively high. She could get unceremoniously iced by a fellow Inquisitor (my guess would be the Fourth Sister, who bails her out of jail in the first place). Equally likely, she could get offed by Vader… and not for the reasons everyone thinks which is to exact revenge for what happened to Ahsoka. Let’s face it. Vader doesn’t give two shits about Ahsoka at this point. Vader was going to ice Ahsoka himself before Filoni put time travel wormholes into the Star Wars universe so that Ahsoka could be ripped through it before meeting her untimely demise at Vader’s hand. No. He’d kill Barriss for something far more arbitrary. Something that would suck, but also would be incredibly unpoetic, lazy and unfulfilling after not seeing her for over a decade. And, this is why it feels so likely, I guess. Why wasn’t she in Rebels or Kenobi or any other media with Inquisitors? Did she find some sort of freedom and lay low until the dust settled? Or did she get un-alived? Her odds? Not great.
Which leads me back to my hopes for her… I want her to make it through this era. I want her to find someone like Baylon to hang out with. Maybe she’ll find a convent of former Jedi that didn’t want to bend to the will of the Empire, but also felt that the Jedi had lost their way and so they worked to make themselves into something else. Not good, but not necessarily bad or, at least, not intentionally bad.
I’d like for her to run into Ahsoka…. but not in the Tales of the Empire series… somewhere else. Based on the fact that Ahsoka is still being salty about all of the things that happened to her in her teen years in her series, I don’t feel as if she and Barriss had the chance to ever kiss and makeup.
I honestly feel as if Ahsoka, ultimately, fell victim to Barriss’s wild inability to improvise. I don’t think Barriss framed her on purpose (at least, canon, and that deleted scene where Barriss hugs Ahsoka as she is being escorted out of the temple after being expelled from the order, seems as if it could support my head-canon). It would be, at the very least, nice to get confirmation of this… OR, why the fuck she chose to frame Ahsoka for it if it was a conscious decision. Like, I get that she was the only person that could have railroaded Ahsoka’s emotions like that, but come on. There had to be a lead up.
I also don’t see it being very in-character for Ahsoka to off Barriss in a showdown. That’s another place where it would be kind of lame if there is an Ahsoka versus Inquisitor Barriss duel in this. Ahsoka doesn’t seem bent on killing for revenge even in her lowest moments, and she is wasn’t able to bring herself to kill Barriss before when Barriss was infected by the brain worms. I feel as though Ahsoka would forgive Barriss for what happened… assuming Barriss asked for forgiveness. And, Barriss would. In something like this, a short, we’d end up getting a heartless, quasi-emotionless duel between the two of them that would end almost as unceremoniously as Vader offing Barriss (because clearly Ahsoka would win). No. At least, I hope not.
So yeah. TL/DR: Hope Barriss survives to fight another day.

forgot to post these over here! from the dk pocket dark side book. no huge revelations but some of note: seventh, ninth, and fourth are specified to have escaped or survived order 66 and then fell to the dark side. the grand inquisitor was one palpy's easiest marks. for some reason only seventh and reva are specified to have trained under yoda (despite at one point or another everyone has). unfortunately no mention of iskat or tualon, but it's now officially one month until rotrb's release!

Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade notes that Fourth Sister looked like she was always thinking about something else and didn’t seem interested in interacting with the other inquisitors. I’d be living if, in hindsight, she was dissociating thinking about how Barriss absconded under her watch.

between trilla, reva, iskat, the seventh sister, the thirteenth sister, and the fourth sister, the inquisitorius is a HOTBED of toxicity. they all want to be the best, and sometimes that involves making sure the others are beneath them in every way
literallyyyy the toxic homoerotic bestieworstieship has to be off the rails!!! in the misogynistic environment of the empire they're all clawing at each other, leaving marks and scars to stay afloat

it's so funny the Fourth Sister is/was apparently called Lyn because the first time we ever heard of her was that time she got impersonated by Lina Graf.

Obi-Wan Ep 1 & 2 Spoiler Thoughts
Tumblr media
Ewan did a fantastic job, I really loved Obi-Wan in these episodes
The recap of the Prequel trilogy was a great touch, really helps set you up for what is about to happen
Kenobi does feel so broken and I really enjoy it, as sadistic as that sounds. When he holds the fake jedi guy at gunpoint, it's a small moment but it really shows us how far Kenobi perceives himself to have fallen
His absolute shock and wave of emotion when he learns Anakin is alive, just wow
Bail is hot, as always
Leia is so cute! Her actress does an incredible job, and she's such a little spitfire
Leia's inclusion and use makes logical sense, the only thing that could draw Obi-Wan from Luke is a threat to Leia
We finally get to see Alderaan for more than a few passing looks in the canon movies/shows and it is absolutely stunning
I have been a hater of the Inquisitor designs in this show but in practice they actually look fine, I don't mind it too much
It was cool to see Fourth Sister and Fifth Brother
I actually really liked the Grand Inquisitor. He has a snootiness to him that I think does reflect the character. This is the kind of elitism I would expect from a man who fell to the dark side cause he couldn't read parts of the library
He isn't dead btw. Look at what Maul, Sidious, Vader, and Kylo all survive in this franchise. A stab wound to a darksider is like a paper cut to a normal person
Reva was fine, she's fairly 2 dimensional and I can see where they are going with her. Her hatred of Kenobi is still unexplained, but it makes sense that she knows Anakin is Vader, seeing as she is most likely that one girl who survived Order 66 at the temple, would have seen Anakin
She's kind of hammy and over-the-top, but so were Dooku and Grievous in their trilogy so I think she fits right in. People can't say the Prequels are a masterpiece and then get on Reva for doing the same shit Dooku, Grievous, and Sheevy boy were doing
Owen giving Obi-Wan shit is all I need in my life
Overall 9/10, an absolutely miserable experience and I cannot wait for episode 3

I know the bulk of the discussion is dominated by HOLYFUCKINGSHITBARRISS!! but I am really excited that the Fourth Sister is back, I really liked her and Kenobi (and one of my few criticisms of the show is how underused she was) and wanted more of her, she's (currently) a blank slate (aside from her complete disinterest in the snarling matches between other Inquisitors) and I'd love to get more characterization
I'll bet she'll be a sort of evil older sister to Barriss
