My partner and I came across that one dialog from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series (Obi-Wan answering Leia's question by 'I wish I were your father') and we ended rolling on the floor laughing at it because Nkjnsdfjknkjs what did you mean by that Obi-Wan LOL
Star Wars's has always had very silly dialogue but that bit feel so awkward nkJNKJSDF
(We still haven't watched the series btw I keep saying i'll and end distracted)

If you weren't crying already, apparently Hayden said in the Q&A that the "I am not your failure" line was the little bit of Anakin left in Vader trying to absolve Obi-Wan of guilt.

It’s always so heartbreaking to me that every time we see Owen display how he really feels about Luke in canon (the books, and Kenobi) Luke is never there to hear it.
When Owen faces down the inquisitor and declares that Luke IS his son, Luke is already way out of earshot (even though I do sort of consider the Kenobi show non-canon). When Owen talks to Beru after the argument with Luke on the day they die, telling her he feels bad about having to squash Luke’s dreams and wanting to find some way to make it up to him, he never hears it.
Owen’s relationship with Luke WAS complex, and it was rocky sometimes. I’ve always read this as Owen having difficulty being emotionally open, at least as far as the ANH novel and Kenobi show have shown. Owen loves Luke DEEPLY, right to his core. But he doesn’t know how to put that into words. He’s an awkward man! He’s been raised on nightmare hell planet where becoming too attached to someone might end up in them being killed or sold into slavery and you being miserable! Look at what happened to both of his mothers!
When someone you love dies, you look at all their actions with a new light and deeper introspection. Can you imagine the absolute world-shattering thoughts Luke must have had after Owen and Beru died?
Realising he was more deeply loved than he could have ever realised, even if Owen had a harder time showing it.
And Owen’s parental anxiety is shown in Kenobi! Owen Lars, one of the most dedicated fathers in the galaxy, probably died wondering if his son would ever know how much he really loved him.
Owen probably died with so, so many regrets. Owen probably died wondering if he deserved to raise Luke (which he DID) and if he had done enough to prepare his son for the world (HE DID).
Owen Lars has always been a heartbreaking character for me.

Vader stepping on Obi-Wan’s cloak after he dies in ANH is so much more hilarious now in retrospect because he literally had to check to be sure he was actually gone. Because every time he thought he killed Obi-Wan, even burying him under a bunch of rocks, he still came back.

Obi-Wan words sound like a late apology to a dead friend while looking at his tomb. Both Vader and Obi-Wan are sure there is no journey back from the darkside and even if there was Anakins sins are so great that he only deserves dead, so Obi-Wan only can mourn him, mourn the boy he raised and try to kill him to take him "out of his misery".
Tumblr media
Anakin and Ahsoka no longer consider themselves to be a Jedi but while Ahsoka is still deeply linked to the lightside, Anakin is trapped in the dark and both of them believe this is forever.
Ahsoka feels so guilty for leaving him behind, for indirectly blaming him for not being able to spare her the pain of being rejected by the Order as her master and older brother, she feels so bad for not talking to him about their relationship when they had the opportunity, that now she is trying to make up for it sacrificing herself/her life to acompany Anakin even in his darkness, when both of them believe it is too late, which makes Vader furious, because what good can come from Ahsoka trapping herself right alongside him in the dark now? She only has two options leave him behind and live or stay with him in the darkness and die.
That´s why Ahsoka and Obi-Wan are able to reveal part of Anakin/Vader mask, they represent apects of Anakin´s former life but they are seeing him as a dead man walking, that´s why they can only reveal him by being violent by forcing themselves into Vader´s world.
Tumblr media
Luke didn´t see a dead body walking, he saw a person suffering in the dark, he didn´t want Anakin to become a Jedi once again, he didn´t even want him to stop supporting the Empire, he only said that if He, Anakin, wanted, he could come back from the dark, because the Emperor wasn´t able to take everything good from Vader, because he knew Vader loved Luke, so Luke wanted to give him his freedom back, freedom from the darkside, freedom to love, freedom to be with his family, if he wanted, he didn´t force Vader´s decision, Luke told him in no uncertain tems he loved him whatever his decision, for who he had been and that they could stay together as family IF HE WANTED TO,
Luke only knew him as Vader but he loved what little he knew of Anakin and had faith nobody is lost forever if they don´t want to be, because he was more, more than his Sins, more than his past, this broke Vader´s armor, this unconditional love awoke Anakin´s compassion after so many years of thinking himself only as a monster and so there was only one option left for Vader, to love Luke back even if it killed him.
This is why Luke didn´t had to force open Vader´s mask, because Anakin willingly wanted him to take it off and see his Son with his own eyes for the first and last time.
