India’s Growing Reliance on Oil Imports Signals Concerns for FY24
As we approach the end of the financial year 2023–24 (FY24), India faces a sobering reality: its dependence on imported crude oil is on the rise, potentially reaching unprecedented levels. According to recent data released by the oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC), India’s reliance on imported crude surged to nearly 88% in the period from April to February, indicating a trend that could see FY24 surpass the record high levels of the previous year.
Tumblr media
Despite efforts to bolster domestic production, India’s self-sufficiency in crude oil dwindled to just 12.3% during the April-February period, a decline from 12.8% in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. This decline in self-sufficiency is primarily attributed to stagnant domestic crude oil output coupled with escalating demand for fuel and petroleum products.
Over the years, India’s reliance on oil imports has been steadily increasing, barring a brief respite in FY21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced slowdown. The country’s dependence on imported crude stood at 85.5% in FY22, with previous years witnessing a similar upward trajectory. Despite governmental aspirations to curtail this reliance — with targets set as early as 2015 to reduce oil imports to 67% by 2022 — the actual dependency has only surged, making the Indian economy susceptible to global oil price fluctuations and impacting various economic indicators such as foreign trade deficit, foreign exchange reserves, and inflation rates.
In response to this escalating dependence, the government has been advocating for alternative energy sources such as electric mobility and biofuels to mitigate the reliance on costly oil imports. Efforts to augment domestic crude oil output through incentivizing exploration and production contracts and opening up new areas for hydrocarbon exploration have also been intensified. However, these measures have yet to yield significant offsets to the burgeoning demand for petroleum products.
India’s refining capacity, exceeding 250 million tonnes per annum, positions it as a net exporter of petroleum products despite being one of the world’s largest importers of crude oil. However, the widening gap between domestic production and consumption underscores the urgency for sustainable solutions to balance energy needs and economic stability.
As we navigate the complexities of India’s energy landscape, the trajectory of oil imports in FY24 will be closely monitored, bearing implications not only for the energy sector but also for broader economic indicators and policy directions. Efforts to diversify energy sources and enhance domestic production remain imperative in ensuring energy security and economic resilience in the years to come.

can you elaborate on the idea that “the only way to win wrestling is to stop wrestling“?
Loooove your analysis <3
Thank you!!
This is going to be a very long ramble while i try to get my ideas together, bear with me.
So, when I say that the only way to win wrestling is to stop wrestling, what i mean is like... fundamentally, in my opinion, wrestling is a tragedy. as a whole, the basic narrative plot of professional wrestling is extremely simple: a lot of people all want the same thing, and only one person(/team) can have it. So one of the rules of the fictional space, in kayfabe, is that the wrestlers will work their assess off trying to get something that most of them will probably never get (a prominent title reign), losing friendships and experiencing horrifying agony in the process.
Then, if you get it, it's inevitable that you'll lose it again. Part of why wrestling is a tragedy is that once a champion gets a belt, the tension underlying their story immediately switches to 'when are they going to lose the belt?' and that builds up until the point when they, yeah, lose the belt and have to start all over again. It's sisyphean. there's no win state where you get what you want and get to keep it.
And then.... career babyfaces who never turn heel are rare. So the chances that you'll make it through that process, over and over again, without losing your integrity and selling part of yourself to the devil are pretty slim! chances are a wrestler will face multiple betrayals, and commit a betrayal or two themself, so you're also going to lose relationships. the narrative demands it. if your medium is fake violence, every story is going to be steered into the ring--which means that every relationship has a nascent potential match inside it. some of my favorite matches have been between people who on some level really don't want to hurt each other, but who have no choice, because the choices they've made and the narrative rules of the space demand it.
Also, in order to keep the tension high, heels have to win. a lot. So a hero, in wrestling, is fighting a losing battle because they have to be in order for the fictional space to stay the self-perpetuating laundry cycle of drama that it is.
And then what? You fight until your body gives out and you get worse and worse until you're forced to give up. You are chewed up over and over again by a story that demands pain in order to continue. The mode of your universe is violence, so the only way to find peace is to leave that universe.
Wrestling is a competition you never actually win, because winning would end the story, and the story is bigger than you and scarier than you and it is being created, constantly, all over the world, by the collective will of thousands of people who may at any point become your enemy. if the thing that the narrative demands you want is nigh untouchable and will be taken from you, the only way to win is to want something else.
There's an old adage about how wrestlers should retire "on their backs," giving the win to new talent and passing some of their collected audience goodwill over to a rising star. Which is really cool from an industry perspective! but also it hammers in that the inevitable end state of a wrestler's career is loss.
Obviously there are exceptions to this. AEW's mentor system is actually a really interesting and innovative way to gentle the end of a wrestling career and allow for interaction with the fictional space without the narrative pressure. Of course, because the story must go on, we're probably going to see a lot more betrayals of and by mentors in the coming years. it's what the story demands.

i dont like propaganda movies include the kerala story created hate of religion
the fact that officials from a far-right government like the bjp openly support a movie to use it to demonize a religion and its followers speaks louder than anything to what type of film has been produced. its no longer about the real life events or shedding light on issues. it's about using that trauma to spread hate and evoke violence. would they provide the same support for a movie based on the gujarat riots? the delhi riots? no.

callout posts only ever do more harm than good.
even in an ideal scenario- no one lied, all the evidence was provided, something truly bad happened, every victim consented to having their story shared, no one who didn’t want to be involved was dragged into it- now what? what have we actually done? we’ve incentivized harassment and isolated a person or a group of people, and who did it help?
what tangible positive difference did it make?
if that positive difference is someone no longer being in a community, isn’t there a better way to accomplish that than a public trial?
if someone is repeatedly doing behavior that people in the community find objectionable, a callout post may keep this person from entering new spaces in the community, but if their behavior is truly objectionable, why not let them be removed based on their current actions in the current space? there will always be people who are necessary to remove from certain spaces, trying to make and keep up with a list of bad people is much harder and much more impractical than dealing with behavior proactively (by fostering an environment of kindness, communication, positivity, and equality) or as issues occur. if you truly don’t believe someone can change or feel they’ve demonstrated an unwillingness to change, that’s okay. you don’t have to allow them into your space, but you also don’t get to block their path of learning and growing.
even in this perfect situation, is the person not allowed to grow and change? once we have done a bad thing, or had a segment of our lives where we hurt others, does that mean we must live the whole rest of our lives isolated and repenting? if so, that’s not a society i want to live in. if people cannot grow and change, that means that our world will forever be bleak and no progress will be made.
furthermore, if we step away from this perfect scenario, which i have yet to see, what happens when we get it wrong? what happens if someone lied? what are the risks and for what benefit? i have seen countless people have to share and explain intimate parts of their lives they didn’t want anyone to know about to the entire internet. i have seen countless suicide attempts after the ensuing isolation, harassment, and humiliation of callout posts. none of those things are ever worth it, no matter who the person is.
i have also seen many potential victims namedropped without being asked; this puts them in a situation where they either have to share stories they may not want to, or call another potential victim a liar. the accused isn’t the only one at risk.
so once again, what are the risks and what are the benefits? can we gain the same benefits through means which carry less risk? are callout posts worth these risks?
if you disagree with me and think callout posts are more beneficial than they are harmful, that’s okay, i’m glad you thought about it.
if you do think callout posts are more damaging than they are beneficial, remember that this risk applies to every callout post, no matter how much you are inclined to agree with it. don’t spread them.
and as a reminder, it is an acceptable boundary to ask someone to not associate with you, it is not an acceptable boundary demand nobody associate with them. no one is guilty by association.

Apparently, the modern-day-Nazi-party had a secret meeting where they discussed plans to deport immigrated people. Not immigrants. German citizens, who are descendants of immigrants. Apparently it resembles the plan the Nazis had last time.
Yes, it’s that party that keeps getting more and more votes, especially in the eastern parts, including Berlin (up to 32%).
This sucks. So. Much.

Breakthrough - I think I finally kinda get money. It's taken a lot of hard work to figure it out, but I think the problem was that I fundamentally could not focus on money. Like it made sense, but how it motivated people just made no sense.
But I had a moment of clarity today, that my financial situation is bad(??) And I should probably make more choices that result in me obtaining money.
One problem, fuck it's hard to focus on money. Like I'm happy as can be to make a little budgeting sheet, track my spending, record my savings it's a walk in the park, I fucking love paperwork. But that's not actually Getting Me more money. Even if I write it all out, the problem is that I'm struggling to react to money.
The moment of clarity came to me, when I wrote down all of my little online stores I made over the years in a list. I have a goal of making a certain amount of money this year (I've calculated it and everything). So I made a goal for each online store: how much do I want each store to make this year so I reach my financial goal?
Guess what I wrote down? $5. $10. $50. $100.
I was fucking happy the whole time to just sell One. Thing. A. Year. And that would be a success to me! In my brain that would flip the switch that goes "Yep I made money. Don't need any more!" And I would be satisfied with those amounts and not even THINK about making more.
SO, those whole time working on these online stores, I thought I was setting up something financially stable, because it FELT stable. If I sold a few things in one day and made $10, I was like "hell yeah". But, that doesn't fit with my financial goal. But it seriously felt like it was. I know intellectually this makes no sense because it's simple math, but basically I had a freaky moment where I could tell my perspective was warped somehow. Like, until I wrote it down, I SERIOUSLY thought those stores would make enough money to reach my goal. Because it FELT like they would, everything felt fine! Nothing felt stressful or 'not enough'! I never felt the need for more, even though factually I need more!
That really, REALLY gave me some pause.
It made me realise, "Wait, I am not processing the concept of money like most people... I think"

The term "walkable cities" makes me bristle. Despite the assumption that this is ignorance borne of U.S. citizenship, I do understand the term. I share a goal with the people using it.
But the focus on walkable perpetuates the exact design principles that makes my life hell: that anybody who isn't an ablebodied, healthy adult is not a consideration. The fact that other activists are telling disabled people to sacrifice our quality of life for a narrow vision of developed spaces is what's frustrating.

Spoilers for your works ahead!:::
So something I ADORE about your work is how it leaves so much more to think about and chew over and when it’s time to go back and reread there’s more to comb through and think on. It’s all very multifaceted and has great layers. So I was hoping it would be alright to ask about your thoughts regarding some of where these speculations can go.
So in “Breaking Point” the twin’s breaking point was obviously at that party with soccer guy…in “Outrunning Fate”, I imagine that duos breaking point would be if the m/c actually did manage to transfer universities. So I wonder about “Like Nobody Else”. In that work what was so horrifying (and hot!) was this slow build up until it couldn’t be contained and there isn’t one specific moment that led to m/c’s fate, but rather many moments. So would there be such an event that could happen that would push Oikawa and Iwa to a breaking point (provided they haven’t really had that yet).
I just love thinking about it! No pressure to respond to this at all! I hope you have a wonderful day!—☕️💄
ahh thank you nonnie!
i'm gonna assume here that you're using 'breaking point' here to mean the moment that the characters get really pissed and lose their shit rather than just the point where they decide to cross the reader's boundaries cuz they're frustrated with waiting cuz... they already do that haha
so i think for iwa and oikawa in LNE to completely snap like that you'd basically have to fuck someone else. transferring/moving, ignoring them, trying to play one off the other, sure it might irritate them from time to time, but more than anything they're just gonna double down until you give in – especially oikawa
ouright rejecting the soulmate bond by cheating on them though? that'd do it.
