GWitch Onscreen Text: Episode 8
Part 9 in my ongoing attempt to transcribe all the written text in G Witch, cause I'm just that cool ! We're currently on Episode 8: "Their Choice."
<<Click here to return to episode 8!
Tumblr media
Let us begin!
Tumblr media
Not text, but in the opening scene, Lilique is told by Aliya that she'll "have trouble with men" in the near future during their divination session. This is foretelling how Renee will destroy her MS in the Grassley duel because she rejected John Van Simmon's lunch invitation.
Tumblr media
TEXT: GUND-ARM Inc.
During Miorine's impromptu enlisting of Earth House to help run GUND-ARM, we see the spray painted sign that Miorine and Suletta made beforehand leaning outside the door. Given that they definitely didn't make the sign at Earth House, I like to imagine that they made the sign, and Miorine was like:
"This is the worst. Suletta, help me carry this sign to Earth House."
S: "W-why, Miorine-san?"
M: "They're going to be working at the company so I'll just have them make a better sign."
S: "Oh, did you ask them?"
M: "Not yet."
S: ????????????????????????????

TEXT DUEL BETTING ODDS TYPE OF BETTING: SINGLE RANK | ID. No | NAME | ODDS
| KP003 | SHADDIQ ZENELLI | 1.3
| LP041 | SULETTA MERCURY | 1.9
| KP002 | ELAN CERES | 2.7
| KP001 | GUEL JETURK | 3.4
| KP014 | SABINA FARDIN | 6.9
| LP029 | OLTA SHUBACCA | 7.6
| KP013 | LAUDA NEILL | 9.1
| LP022 | JONAS MOUWEN | 9.8
| MP028 | RAGNAR OOLES | 11.4
| LP013 | RENEE COSTA | 13.3
During this scene where Martin and Ojelo are talking, we get a look into the betting program he and Nuno are always using, and we get to see the top 10 ranked duelists at Asticassia at the time of this episode.
Of special note: Shaddiq is currently at rank 1, and due to the gray up arrow next to his rank, we can see this is a recent change in his rank. But considering that he doesn't duel very often, (at this point he currently has 7 wins and 0 losses) we can probably assume this is because Suletta has knocked both Guel and Elan from the top spots, leaving him alone at the top. His Odds are at 1.3
Suletta is currently at Rank 2, and we can also see by the gray arrow that this is a recent promotion. She probably rose up after defeating Elan. Her odds are 1.9.
Elan is Rank 3, and the red down arrow means he's recently been demoted, presumably after losing to Suletta. His odds are 2.7
Guel, surprisingly, is still rank 4 with a 3.4. Because he's the only pilot at the school to have won a double digit number of duels, his Win - Loss ratio is still presumably one of the best, even with 2 official losses.
Sabina is rank 5, with a 6.9. She's not only the second highest ranked pilot in Grassley House, but is the 4th best among all the other members of the main 3 houses. Even at that, her rank is 6.9, 3.5 points below Guel's. It really goes to show the gulf between the best pilots and the VERY best pilots at Asticassia.
Lauda is rank 7, with a 9.1. Still top 10, but he's eclipsed by Guel even at his lowest. It's nice to see proof pre-Schwarzette that Lauda can hold his own, and it gives more context to his statement that "[With a Gundam's power], he's a match for his brother." He's probably never beaten Guel in a duel, and with the difference in their results, he's probably never come close, either. On some level, he probably resents him for that.
Renee is rank 10, with odds of 13.3. We don't learn much about Renee, but we know now that she's the 3rd highest ranked pilot within Grassley, underneath Sabina and Shaddiq, but the gulf is large.
I don't think there's any way in hell to figure out how the odds are calculated, (I've tried.) but we know that the lower the odds, the higher your rank.
Because the names are color coded, we can actually see how many members of each house are in the top ten. Grassley - Shaddiq, Sabina, Renee (3/10) - 30% Peil - Elan (1/10) - 10% Jeturk - Guel, Lauda, Ragnar (3/10) - 30% Earth - Suletta (1/10) - 10% Unknown House - Olta, Jonas (2/10) - 20% (These two names are color coded the same, so I'll assume they're in the same house, as 'unhoused' students have the standard blue color coding : e.g Miorine)
Okay, we're ALMOST done here, but, because Ojelo often says the odds of a duel out loud during it, we can actually track the odds of Guel, Elan, and Suletta up to this point. (Ojelo always says the odds in terms of Person he's betting on's odds - Opponent's odds.)
Guel: Episode 3 Odds: 1 Episode 5 Odds: 1.4 Episode 8 Odds: 3.4 1 - 1.4 - 3.4
Elan: Episode 5 Odds: 1 Episode 6 Odds: 1 Episode 8 Odds: 2.7 1 - 1 - 2.7
Suletta: Episode 3 Odds: 8.6 Episode 6 Odds: 2.7 Episode 8 Odds: 1.9 8.6 - 2.7 - 1.9
HUAHH okay, let us continue
Tumblr media
This is the Recording System that opens when Prospera sends her all of Aerial's past data. The screen is similar to the one that appears when Eri is speaking to Lfrith, but other than that there's not much info that can be gleaned here.
Tumblr media
Not text, but I really how during the scene where Suletta asks Prospera why she lied to her, and Prospera continues to lie to her about why, Suletta's face is drawn in a way that's uncomfortable to look at once she falls for her manipulation.
Tumblr media
This scene is also where Prospera tells her outright that Gundams are safe, and for nearly the entire rest of the series, Suletta repeats this, even when faced with direct evidence to the contrary because she wholeheartedly believes her mother would never lie to her for no reason.
Tumblr media
Okay okay FINAL non text thing I PROMMY, but this scene implies that at some point, Suletta spoke with Shaddiq about the situation with her mom for at least a little bit at some point. I wish we got to see that.
Tumblr media
TEXT: NEXT > THE ASTICASSIA SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY WE WILL SHORTLY ARRIVE...
I wonder why Shaddiq was on this flight anyway. Probably to talk to Sarius or something.
Tumblr media
TEXT: Preparing disclosure documents for investors Application for Registration of Incorporation (Benerit Group Student Business Startup Program) Articles of Incorporation to Benerit Group Legal Certification Division Business Plan for Benerit Group Internal Entrepreneurship Committee Business Plan for Student Business Startup Program Documents for Benerit Group Grant Review Committee Broadcast License for PR Video Documents to Open Corporate Account Application for Special R & D Financial Transaction Business Application for MSP Certified Factory Application for Establishment of Sustainable Enterprise
This is the list of all the various things and registrations the company needs to take care of
Tumblr media
Not text (sorry i lied) but I think it's interesting that the video Miorine watches of her father's speech is a secondhand recording and not an actual recording of the event.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some closer looks at the editing software used to create the PR video. The name of the raw video file is GUND-ARMInc.PV01, and the placeholder text for the GUND-ARM Inc. Logo is GUND-ARMInc.PV02.
Also all of the silly visual effects like the hearts and musical notes make sense when you realize they had Suletta edit the actual video.
Tumblr media
We can actually see Till's rough sketch of the GUND-ARM logo on his tablet screen, complete with construction lines. That's why they have to use a placeholder in the editing software, it's not complete yet.
Tumblr media
When Miorine chooses the data files to cast to the screen, the 3 video files are named GUND CARDO NABO MS
Tumblr media
The files are dated by year, so all of these files were recorded in A.S. 101.
youtube
Here is all of the editing (blessings) in the GUND-ARM PR Video 1. When Suletta walks into frame, the video is covered in a filter that makes hearts and stars appear on the screen. When the video cuts the first time, the filter changes to one that makes various musical notes appear on the screen. Then when it cuts again the filter is gone. 2. Suletta walks into frame, and then tries to correct her position, and then it cuts back to a shot of her in the original spot she was standing in. 3. Aerial is horribly keyed into the shot, and you can see bits of the green screen behind it. Tiko also walks in front of it and they didn't know how to edit him out. 4. When they begin the dance, each step cuts to a later time of day and Suletta looks noticeably more exhausted, which means they kept having to re-record it. 5. They kept having to edit Aerial's arms to make the dance moves work.
Tumblr media
They move them around
Tumblr media
And they stretch them.
Tumblr media
I like that Prospera laughs at the video, because for her, it's probably like watching her daughters having fun and playing together.
Tumblr media
The food for the party that Suletta and Miorine are bringing are from ASTICASSIA FOODS.

Hi! I just wanted to say I love your blog, I was wondering if you had any animanga recommendations? I really enjoy anything, hope you have a good day!
aw thank you! well i mean you follow me so. you have seen my absolutely soul consuming obsessions with JJK and Trigun. For Trigun I have an optimal consumption order and content warnings for both anime and the manga in my newsletter where I wrote about it here:
For JJK, I recently showed it to a few friends + am rereading the manga rn myself and I suggest:
season 1
season 2 eps 1-7 (hidden inventory prequel arc + shibuya arc setup)
JJK 0 (the movie that takes place a year before season 1. just TRUST me with this)
season 2 eps. 8-onwards (shibuya arc onwards)
once you're caught up on the anime, catch up on the manga (including JJK 0, the original standalone story that is now a "prequel volume")
for both of these both the sub and the dub are great. for JJK you can watch the dub and switch over the subs when you get to the more recent episodes that havent been dubbed yet. (i suggest doing JJK first so you can catch up and suffer every week in the shibuya arc with us since it's currently airing). neither of these is very long.
i also wrote about GWitch, which I think was one of the best anime of this past year, and which you can enjoy without knowing anything about Gundam:
and then there's quite obviously Spy x Family, which truly is as good as everybody says it is. catch up on the anime so you can watch s2 along with us rn while it airs (the movie comes out in december!) and then you've got plenty of manga to read to keep you happy. Buddy Daddies also lives up to the hype and was phenomenal.
i have many many more suggestions but that depends on your taste and what you're looking for and have already seen. if you're interested in adaptations of chinese webnovels, you can start with the Big Hitter, MDZS which i also wrote about:
but yeah these are all very mainstream so give me some of your specifications and i can be more specific

Top Anime Best Girl Spring Week 7
Vote for your best girl at anitrendz.com/polls!
Akane remains number 1 after she shows off her acting chops in Oshi no Ko, making this the first time that Oshi no Ko's characters are both number 1. Raeliana continues to climb as her hold over Noah grows, now ranking 2nd. Shockingly, Sagiri is 3rd despite not showing up in last week's episode (May 20th). Her partner, Gabimaru, predictably fell due to his lack of appearance, but her going up is a big surprise.
Ruby has fallen out of Top 10 as the anime haven't really focused on her. Meanwhile, we have two new entries. Suletta reenters without her fiancee on the charts now that Gwitch has returned to airing, and Kubo enters Top 10 since her anime started to air again.

buncha words bout some spring animes #5
Now that I'm a Serious and Employed Person I appreciate series like Skip and Loafer or SpyFam even more. There's nothing better than coming back home and relaxing with some cute and funny anime. It may well be that if I rewatched some older series which I'd dropped or skipped altogether because they seemed boring, I would actually like them much more now. Well, for now let's stick to spring shows. Enjoy!
The Witch from Mercury (season 2, ep. 1-3) - one more week and I'll finally catch up to GWitch. These first three episodes were a real rollercoaster - we started with a pretty chill one, just reestablishing the characters and plot for the second cour. AND THEN! Episode two was wild. I gotta say, what's really amazing about the writing in this series is how it keeps introducing asshole characters, only to make you feel sorry for them after just a couple of episodes. And it actually works, I really care about these guys. I want to believe they're going to be alright... I don't know how dark Gundam endings usually are, but I get a feeling it's better to expect the worst and get a nice surprise, instead of the other way around.
Oshi no Ko (ep. 6) - yeah, yeah, I've watched another one. I planned to give it one last chance before dropping it but then Oshi no Ko had the gall to drop the best episode since the prologue. I still have some issues with it but I think it did a great job characterising Akane (and Yuki, too), making her relatable and sympathetic. What helped a lot was that Aqua was barely present in this one. You know what guys, I don't think I like Aqua very much. Which is a shame, because acting and film stuff in this series interests me more than idol stuff. Methinks I should look for some anime/manga about acting.
Skip and Loafer (ep. 7) - The highlight of this episode was seeing the drama club pres guy actually doing something decent for a change. And of course we have a brand new character introduced in the last minutes of the episode. I guess she's either Shima's family or one of the people he met when he was an actor. I wonder how will this plot develop and how will this person be neutralised by Mitsumi. Or hey, maybe she won't be! There are some people with whom you just don't get along, and I don't see that a lot in anime, I don't think.
Heavenly Delusion (ep. 6-7) - We got less school and more Maru and Kiruko's adventures, I'm definitely fine with that. Episode 6 had some great jokes, faces and cuts of animation, and episode 7 on the other hand got really disturbing towards the end. I like how this series treats the characters' sexuality (so far) - I mean, they're kids, they're figuring things out, and it's presented with honesty you don't often see. These episodes were also a bit thinner on plot elements and mysteries, but I liked that. I guess it could be a breather before what comes next.
Hell's Paradise (ep. 7) - Last week I speculated, that something major was going to happen this episode. That... turned out to be wrong, more or less. We now know a little bit more about the island and the elixir of life, but the majority of the episode was devoted to lighter character moments. So now I don't even know what I should expect next week. To be honest Jigokuraku is also close to falling off my watchlist but I'll give it one more chance.
Insomniacs after school (ep. 4-6) - Aaaand I caught up to Insomniacs. I think it's growing on me - the side characters were nicely fleshed out in the recent episodes and the relationship between the two leads is cute (not my top ship of the season, but they're nice kids!). Am I really going to watch another romance series this season? I almost never watch them!
I skipped Yamada-kun this week, but I'm definitely coming back to it next time. And finally:
Spy x Family (ep. 10-12) - Ok, two things: 1) Bill Watkins (6) was even better than whatever I was picturing before watching the episode and the whole game of dodgeball was a riot. 2) And then episode 11 had some brilliant Anya Starlight Anya moments. I can't wait to see the pupper. Thankfully I don't have to wait three months, I can jump right in the second cour. Episode 12 was kind of a weak follow-up to the two preceding episodes and a weird finale to the whole season, but the penguins were cute. So really, it's impossible to say if it was good or bad.
And that's it from me! Thanks so much for reading, have a great week and see you next Saturday!

KamiErabi Episode 1-7 Review This time without Idol Unionization!
I already had a whole thing about Episodes 1 to 6 written up (but really I only complained (a lot) about recent Idol plot lines in unrelated media) but Episode 7 did something for me so I wrote a whole new one and this time I don't even mention Idol Unionization unironically. Enjoy.
First off, this is going to blow your mind: The CG is pretty... ugly. Doesn't help that they for some fcking reason erased the lines and symbols off the school uniforms that are in their character art and now it looks shit cheap because it went from 'kind of techwear' to 'stripper'. it's almost as if someone put those there for a reason... like the designer was probably already told to 'make it cheap to animate' and whoever is to blame for cutting like 3 textures from their workload somehow still found a way to make it cheaper.
With that out of the way: I was cautiously optimistic but overall neutral on the first 6 episodes. They weren't particularly interesting, but knowing Yoko Taro had a major hand in writing it - and let's be real that's the only reason I'm still watching it - I know there's something at least somewhat interesting coming, especially knowing there's going to be a second cour it's pretty likely that there's going to be an "Oh snap"-Moment like with most of his stories where suddenly everything takes a dark new interesting turn.
But also Ono Goro is here and he kind of ruins it for everyone.
And listen, I like his place in the story, I think he's very important and it wouldn't work without him - and i will get to what I mean by that in a second - but it's just annoying how much time is spent on him. He's easily the least interesting character and yet every episode has to get through its plot in a breakneck speed because at least 25% of it is spend with pointless Ono character moments that don't even provide new information about him because we kind of know everything there is to know about him since at least EP2.
Episode 7 is easily the best example of this - because for once he's barely in it. Suddenly the pacing feels natural because Ono doesn't waste valuable screen time, we aren't treated like children when Ono has to reiterate plot points we already all understood in Episode 1, the other characters all have interesting things to add - especially in reference to him, because that seems to (hopefully) be the overall theme of the anime:
To me Ono is interesting as one thing and one thing only: The manifestation of what I personally like to call Radical Hope (mainly because it sound cool) (there might be an actual term for this but I wouldn't know where to find that out lol)
What I understand as Radical Hope is a response to the notion that pursuing "dreams" is frivolous or naive because "it's not realistic" - which thanks to the rise in popularity of Lore Explanations and 'Realistic' Storytelling has become a prevalent, foundational theme in our current Gaming/Pop Culture Zeitgeist. Because how could I possibly suspend my disbelief that there would be a convenient Deus Ex Machina solution to a problem like this!? It would break all established lore! No, there needs to be a pre-established (=at least foreshadowed) & realistic solution to the plot!
And to some extent I agree to that - if your entire setting is based on heavily enforced lore rules you can't just decide 'nope, not going to care, here's a happy wholesome ending that ignores everything we ever cared about!' fuck eulogia - but Radical Hope is a response to the whole foundational assumption that you need to ground your expectations, your hopes and your dreams in reality. And it says: Fuck that. We have to hope in radical, unprecedented way - we have to dream - because only this way we will actually be able to find ways to even get close to the optimal outcome we want to achieve.
GWitch's ending (spoilers) despite its pacing issues is a really good example of Radical Hope in practice: Over the whole story Suletta and especially Miorine are told over and over again that they shouldn't expect all of this to work out, that working with Gundams is futile because they will always be weapons and can't be used otherwise. But only because both of them dream to use them for good without backing down Suletta finds a way to use the Gundams to achieve her goals - not as weapons of mass destruction, but as tools to end the conflict without killing anybody, without major sacrifice/death apart from giving up the robots, they even restore her sister and then Suletta and Miorine sure as hell don't get married!
And yes, the magical solution comes out of nowhere but that's kind of the point, because if it didn't come out of nowhere then there would have been no reason for them to dream. Then you could just always keep your expectations reasonable and do the most realistic thing until you notice actually there is a save and reasonable way to achieve your goals. But giving up all (Weapon-)Gundams isn't reasonable. You have to dream that a better future comes from that to do that.
This sort of Radical Hope is also very Yoko Taro. It's not necessarily NieR-ian, but it is very very very Drakengardian. Because think about it, Midgard is a garbage place to be. Just all around Grimdark Vibes. Even the good endings aren't good - but what they are is hopeful, because at least the bad guy didn't win. They are achieved by absolute nonsense magic in ways nobody could really have forseen (literally a Rhythm Game), but because the characters dared to hope for one and worked towards one despite this world they find themselves in they actually achieve something approximating Hope. And it doesn't always work, it only works around 1 out of 5 Endings actually, but sometimes it does work so it's still worth it to dream and to try and achieve that dream - especially since it only works because they tried at all. (the Drakengards truly are my favorite games about the power of hope and friendship)
And it seems to me that KamiErabi is going into a similar direction with Ono's Pacifism. Everyone is at every turn bewildered why he would even try to find a solution in which nobody has to die especially with the damages he has to pay for saving people. Why doesn't he just accept that they're trapped in this mess and that they have to kill each other and just gets it over with.
They do an especially great job of it in EP 7 - the one he once again isn't actively taking part in - because he's right there and people talk about him basically as a force, they're starting to realize that his pursuit of not wanting anybody to die is doing something to them, they just don't know what yet because it's Cour 1 Episode 7 of a 2-cour show. And that's the dynamic that really interests me and that I really want to see play out, how all of these other people are shaped and inspired by his Radical Hope and eventually come around so they can produce the Good Ending together.
My big problem is, of course, that Ono is bound to wake up again - and he's just such a bland Anime MC. Black Hair, Blue Image Color, Irrationally Hopeful and an Idol Stan? Groundbreaking. Inspirational. Never been done before.
And yet we have to have somebody like him or else it wouldn't work. After all if he was competent they wouldn't have to work together in the end. Ugh.
I just wish they wouldn't waste so much screen time on him. EP 6 was especially rough, Iyo barely had half an episode for herself but we just have to be reminded that Ono likes this one Idol, a thing that came up literally every episode. You could have just started the episode with him at the venue thanking Koki for coming with him, he accidentally bought two tickets. There, I saved you like 5 Minutes of Airtime. And then they even have the gall to fully sideline the actual interesting part of the episode (Iyo's Pseudo-Existence) so they can do another tired "The Only Way to stop a Bad Stan with a Glowstick is a Good Stan with a Glowstick" Story Line that's not nearly as insightful as Oshi no Ko wants you to believe it is (I have a lot to say about Oshi Culture Propaganda but not today)
(Also, of course, another theme of KamiErabi is 100% parents->children and as I have expressed in other posts that's Yoko Taros current 'obsession', how parents influence children, especially im bad ways, reincarnation is a cage yada yada yada)
I was also at one point thinking about if they could have made Sawa work as the protagonist but right now I'm just questioning why it's not an 'Everyone is the Main Character' show, because literally everyone would make a more interesting MC than Ono, even Lall. Again. EP 7 made Lall so much more interesting just because Ono wasn't there to talk. Just keep Ono in a coma. Please. Do it for me.
I'm hoping that the Plot Twist is going to be that Ono sacrifices himself to create a time loop but Lall remembers and she has to try and get everyone on the same page to work together to revive him and then everyone becomes God, Humanity wins.
I don't know. Episode 7 made me a bit nore hopeful about the path forward, but let's see how long that lasts. It somehow even looked a little bit better! Maybe it really is just Ono who ruins Everything...

Nexus' Anime List 7/27
Nexus' Anime List
Completed: Mellow: This MV is for Skip and Loafer's OP and I think I like the TV version more. Sweet story in the MV itself, though.
Idol: I've been obsessed with this song ever since I heard it in a GWitch Gunpla AMV of all things. (Likely because YOASOBI also did Shukufuku.) Idol shows aren't really my thing, but this song is such a banger.
Shukufuku: Speaking of this song, I can add it too. This song is so great and has such meaningful lyrics relating to the show. The fact that part of the chorus is the title of the final episode makes the song so important.

GWitch Onscreen Text: Episode 7
This is part eight of my attempt to transcribe and discuss all the monitor text in g witch! Because I got worms! We're on episode 7, "Shall We Gundam?"
Tumblr media
Now then. Shall we? (Gundam?)
Tumblr media
Not text, but in the opening, Vim tells the Peil Witches that it's despicable of them to breach the Cathedra Agreement, only for one of them to respond that she believes he would know something about that himself. This is our first hint towards the existence of the Schwarzette.
Tumblr media
Now to the real text, we see a mockup of the Pharact of it's systems in this opening as well.
Here, we see that the Pharact is 19.1m and 57.1t.
The Blue and Red labels are tough to make out, but they each respectively say the same thing. I'll make my best guess: Blue labels: G-O | SYS-GUND CHH Red Labels: GUND FORMAT | CORAX UNITS
The Corax Units are the name of the Pharacts GUND Bits, and we know those use the Gund Format, so that checks. We saw 'CHH' on 4's data graph, still not sure what it means though.
I think the floating red text says GA - MS//RACT, but I can't be sure. The big label in the center says GUND-ARM FP/A-77.
Tumblr media
Not text, but I think Sarius and Delling is another relationship I wish we got to see more of. Delling actually worked directly under Sarius within Grassley before eventually becoming President of the entire Group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the scene in the greenhouse, we get a look at the program on Miorine's monitor. No way to read the actual text on it from this shot, but we do see Miorine verify the name of one of the brands of fertilizer before presumably typing it on the screen, so it's probably safe to assume it's tracking the general maintenance of the tomatoes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We never get a completely clear shot of the Incubation Party Invitation (Because it just can never be easy) But I'll make my best estimate of it from the shots we DO get.
TEXT: SUBJECT: INCUBATION EVENT PARTY INVITATION & APPLICATION GUIDELINES FROM: BENERIT GROUP PROTOCOL MANAGEMENT OFFICE
INVITATION The Benerit Group has the great honor of inviting you to the 15th Incubation Event.
Tumblr media
Off topic but this scene has one of my favorite Miorine Noises in the whole show. It's so good. Take a listen. She is Flabbergasted.
Tumblr media
TEXT: 15th INCUBATION EVENT PARTY Hosted by BENERIT GROUP
Pretty...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Mobile Suits on display aren't named, but the one in the back right is actually the YOASOBI Collaboration Version of the Demi Trainer.
Tumblr media
(YOASOBI are the musical duo that composed Shukufuku)

I wont bore you with a 1 to 1 transcription of the text of this first presentation, so here's the general overview.
This is PRESENTATION No. 001 for the Incubation Party from TENGRIFF SOLUTIONS. They're asking for 100,000,000 to develop an INTEGRATED FIRE CONTROL SOFTWARE. What that means generally is that they want to develop a software that can automatically correct/redirect an MS's aim to a specific target, in both Individual and Team based MS Operations. Funny Shaddiq Expression. I don't think he ever makes a face like this for the rest of the series.
Tumblr media
[Pointing] One of the two times throughout the series we see any pat of Notrette. The only other time is in the second season opening.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see VIM JETURK on Lauda's screen when he's calling him. (The "Accept" button actually darkens when Lauda taps it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is our first look into Nika's role as a go between for Shaddiq, and also how it'll be a main point of conflict between her and Martin, as he's the one who sees the two of them talking.
(Also, Shaddiq has a habit of abruptly lowering the tone of his voice to signify a change in his demeanor. If you ever rewatch the series again, try and listen for it ! He does it all the time)

Miorine's phone when she requests access to the Stage Screen
Tumblr media
When she gets approved and begins connecting, her phone displays this loading screen called SYNCHRONIZE
Tumblr media
And the stage screen is displaying that same loading screen for a split second before fully connecting.
Tumblr media
Miorine explains what this all means in the show proper, so I feel it'd be redundant to explain it, but here's the presentation anyhow.
Tumblr media
We also see the UI of the program Mio is using in the presentation. She only uses the MEMO tab, but we see that there's a TEXT and PICT tab as well.
Tumblr media
When Miorine takes the phone back from Delling, the investment status has reached 3%, meaning he invested 7,200,000,000 in the company. Mama Mia !
Tumblr media
Business Successfully Formed!
But it seems that they only reached the bare minimum amount, 75%. So of the 240,000,000,000, she requested, the company earned at LEAST 180,000,000,000
We also see that Miorine’s presentation is only the 5th one of the night.
And that's all! Thank you very much! Unfortunately I can't leave anymore images because I've somehow reached the image limit :(
Instead I leave you with this: Go back and watch the scene where Miorine and Suletta see Prospera and Godoy. After the scene where Suletta greets him, they keep drawing his face wrong. Okay! Goodbye....!

As promised last month, I’m going to use this post to delve into my top 10 anime of 2022. It ended up being long and I can tell that I’m not going to be able to do much about that without really cutting more details out and I’ve already tried to make it shorter so I’m just going to put it under a cut instead. Before the list, here are some honorable mentions: Summer Time Rendering, Delicious Party Precure, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Really, GWitch should be on the list but I’m still traumatised from the disappointment that was the second half of Ranking of Kings so I’m being cautious. It’ll probably end up on next year’s list if all goes well with the second half.
10. Raven of the Inner Palace - I watched this one shortly after it finished airing and was very impressed. The story was really interesting and engaging, the characters were charming and I loved watching them grow, and the lore was fascinating. The only major issue is that it does end of a somewhat incomplete note. It feels like it wraps up Shoxue’s character arc satisfyingly but it’s clear that there’s more story to come. I definitely would be interested in reading the novels but I’d struggle a bit with some of terminology in Japanese so if I did read it, it would be in English.
9. Shadow House 2nd Season - The first season just missed out on being one of my faves of 2021 so I was pleased that it got another chance so soon and it more than earned it’s place on my top 2022 list. The plot of season 2 was consistently engaging and I appreciated the focus on characters like Rosemary/Maryrose and Barbie/Barbara who I was interested in from the first season. I hope we get more but I know I’m going to be reading the manga when I can either way.
8. Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2 - While I didn’t like the second season of Superstar quite as much as the first, I did still really enjoy my time with it. I was a bit iffy on the new characters at first but they did grow on me by the second half and I was able to enjoy it a lot better. I think the best part of this season is the introduction of Wein. She’s got such a cool character design and a lovely voice and her performances were so good. I was also incredibly fond of the episode about Ren’s gaming addiction. I was initially annoyed about the ending but now I just can’t wait to spend more time with these characters and see what’s in store for season 3.
7. Bocchi the Rock! - There were three things that stood out to me while watching this anime: the music, the visual gags, and the representation of anxiety. The music was great and the visual gags were hilarious and I really related to Bocchi. Aside from the relability, I also really liked that Bocchi was allowed to grow throughout the twelve episodes. Compared to something Komi Can’t Communicate, which I do like but it has flaws of course, where it’s been 2 seasons and Komi still can barely string together a sentence, it was nice to see Bocchi actually grow and be able to talk to others in ways that she couldn’t have imagined at the beginning. I really appreciated that. I think I will rewatch this one in the future as I wasn’t in the best of moods when I did watch it but I still enjoyed it and I really hope we get more.
6. Spy x Family - I don’t know that I have anything to say about this show that hasn’t already been said. It’s fun show and I enjoyed watching it every week, though there were a few dull moments. I enjoyed seeing the family grow and it’s such a good-looking show. I can’t wait for more.
5. Sasaki and Miyano - Sometimes a simple romcom is all you need. I’ve been a fan of the Sasaki and Miyano manga for years and I was so excited for the anime adaptation. While I was a bit wary of the adaptation choices at the start - like the awkward character designs and anatomy and the random cut-aways to cats doing stuff, it melted my heart by the end and became such a joy to watch. I loved seeing these two characters fall in love with each other week by week. It was just so sweet.
4. Lycoris Recoil - This anime was such a blast to watch each week and to look at all the new fanart of the characters and the ships. The animation was superb and I loved the characters and watching them and their relationships develop. I know a lot of people were disappointed that the story didn’t challenge it’s own flawed premise but I think it was satisfying as a story about Chisato and Takina and I appreciated it for that, though I do wish we had gotten more from characters like Fuki and Mizuki. I know we’re getting a sequel and I’m cautiously optimistic about it.
3. The Case Study of Vanitas: Part II - I enjoyed the first half of Vanitas well enough but Part II really surpassed my expectations. I was so invested in the story and the characters and it was such a pleasure to watch each week. I hope we get more of the anime at some stage.
2. Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Ultraromantic - To be honest, I wasn’t massive fan of the first two seasons of Kaguya-sama. It had some great visual gags but I wasn’t attached to the characters or anything and a lot of the gags fell flat for me. And then Ultraromantic came along and I finally fell in love with it. Each episode was hilarious and I was surprised by how invested I was in the romance aspect. I loved all the visual gags and this one stands out as being one of the most memorable anime that I watched last year. I can easily recall several scenes and that’s not something that I can say about most of the shows on this list. So I guess Kaguya-sama won this game.
1. The Orbital Children - This was one of those series that reminded me of how much I love sci-fi. There were so many interesting ideas and details. The plot was gripping and the characters were so much fun, especially Mina. I do think it got a bit convoluted at the end there but I still really enjoyed it and it ended up being my favourite anime of last year.
