Okay IDGAF what the band says inspired it, y'all can't tell me Happy Doomsday isn't about the climate crisis.

"When will you realize / We had one job / Our time is up" – Basically what young people have been saying for, oh, at least the past decade. And scientists too. And politicians still don't listen.

"When everything burns, what will you do?" – Forest fires every summer. Temperatures getting hotter every year. The way people say the planet's on fire when referring to [gestures vaguely] everything.

"When the end of the world is yesterday's news" – We've known about this situation for literal decades. We all know how bad it is. We know our future is in serious danger and we've known for many years and still nothing's happening. It literally is yesterday's news.

It's still vague enough to be widely applicable, but this is what the lyrics mean to me and I stick by that.
