Finally Friday! Got me thinking pretty deep this morning (you may wanna step back to avoid the splatter🤣) About how this mug right here came from a ball of clay... a bit of magic, some luck & visions in my head. ( I think we all can agree, that can be a scary place🤪) That less than 3 weeks ago this pot... wasn’t even a thing, but in fact... it’s taken decades to get here. That my past experiences started forming this mug years before I even started working with clay. From my time as a waitress I knew it needed to be light and balanced. Married to an alcoholic new it, like me would need strength. My time as Mom to a boy, I knew it should be able to bounce ... maybe at least once. My time in both retail & as a hairstylist, that it should be pretty or at least interesting and nice to touch. My time as a Cafe cook/owner taught me hard work, & small business things that it would take to sell it. My time in hell, working for a soul sucking corporation (you know who you are!🤣) showed me that, it surely can’t be all there is..... ALL of that got me here, to Super Hubs & Pottery.... and this mug. ❤️ How did you get here?? Let’s take a second to applaud where we are today... shoot take the whole weekend!! 😘❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️ #harmonyroadpottery #coloramd #handmademug #smallbatchmaker #muglove #muglover #mudlife #makersmovement #makersgonnamake #howigothere #pastpresentfuture #maketodaycount #whenyouknowbetteryoudobetter #bemorethanfunctional #collegegrandma #imadethisandyouallhelped #kentuckymudworks #brent50years #whitebear #deepthoughts #timegoestoofast #loveyourself #loveyou (at Colora, Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0qeQsDg6BL/?igshid=129otph8rmz6c

Alrighty, so here’s my post for @destati.cosplay ‘s follower giveaway. I’m not really into cosplay that much anymore these days due to too much financial constraints and the fact that I just don’t think I’m good enough, but art is my life. So I guess I can talk about how I got into my art. I can remember writing my first “novel” when I was seven years old. I used to sit in front of out dead computer pretending to type out my wildest fantasies for hours. Then, after my seizure at age ten, I started writing a lot of stuff down simply because that was the only way I could remember it. I had also always held a deep love of reading as a child and can vividly remember checking out books in tandem with their respective books on tape so that I could increase my reading skills by reading along with books above my reading level. However, it wasn’t until I was in middle school and discovered the mystical world of fanfiction that I really truly dive headfirst into writing. Looking back now, I can see a pattern to all my early fanfiction. A girl (usually Kagome) would be raped or abused in some way and then the rest of the story was about her pulling herself out of the claws of that terror and healing herself enough to begin living again. I think this was my first attempts at coming to grips with what was happening to me at the time and to try and assure myself that if thing escalated to the point that I was actually raped, I would survive. I would heal and continue living. Art is the purest form of expression, allowing us to bring to light and work through experiences we otherwise might not be able to come to grips with or cope with. It allows us to survive in a world that seems always determined to bring us down. I don’t know, I’m probably rambling at this point so I’ll shut up. But anyways, that’s how I got started writing. #destaticosplay #followergiveaway #writerslife #writersofinsta #inuyasha #fanfiction #howigothere #howigotstarted https://www.instagram.com/p/BupiG6QgT4M/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1dd8u9l9bnmrh

How do we get into a career in motorsport? Say, as a race engineer for example?
Honestly I wouldn’t know for sure, it also depends on where you are at this moment; what I would recommend checking out is one of McLaren’s performance engineers on Instagram her name is Amelia Lewis and she is @\the.female.engineer she has a few posts that she has hashtagged HowIGotHere where it goes through all the steps she took from school to university to placement years
The main thing I’d say and this is true about any field; try and get experience in any way you can - a lot of engineers from f1 teams partook in something called Formula Student at university where a group of students have to build and race a single seater race car
What I will say is don’t set your sight on a career too early on allow yourself to change your mind if need be

Getting published part 3
So here I am with a completed book that has been edited a couple times and reviewed by my roughest most opininated friends. So hubby bought me “self publishing for dummies” and I went through this book with a fine toothed comb. I was even more sure that I did not in any way want to do all of this myself. I got a large piece of paper and wrote all the agencies that were seemingly in my genre and began the task of sending them a few pages of my manuscript and any other pertinent information requested. And I waited. I would send off like five a day un took l I got to the point where I had sent off maybe close to thirty requests. I knew all I wanted was someone to read my book. Fall in love with it, and offer me a wonderful book deal. One that would allow me to quit my j.o.b. and get a nice paycheck to hold me over until the royalties start rolling in from my first book. Then I could release the second and third. I was so excited. Ready for the acceptance letters to roll in and then let them fight it out to represent me. Welp…the replied began and almost overnight I had three rejections. “Sorry your book is not a right fit for our company…we wish you the best.” One after the other. The first few days I thought…Okay you have to get some rejection. All I need is just one yes. It never came. One after the next. Got turned down or never even responded to. Over and over. I sat there thinking god, how much rejection must one person take. I began crossing off the rejection in red. Suddenly my large piece of paper looked like a crime scene. Red everywhere! So now as my path of publishing was going up in smoke…It was back to the drawing board. Back to “Self Publishing for Dummies” and now I had to find someone to edit my book. I needed a professional to read my book, correct my grammer and tell me how great I was. I got busy contacting every and any Facebook friend who may know an editor. I got three good responses and I contacted them all. Well one did not deal with romance. I saw she specialized in religion and I thought yeah my overly sinful book may have that poor woman laid out. So on to the next two…one gave me a phone session where she explained everything. She was overly knowledgeable about every aspect of publishing. She ran her own publishing company and offered every part. I instantly felt confident and dumb as hell at the same time. Confident because I felt she was so on top of things I knew my book could come out amazing. Dumb because she asked me what would be basic questions but I didn’t know a damn thing about. You know there are two kinds of talent. Those that study their assess off, learn the process from inside and out and are totally knowing. Then there are the people who never thought about this profession and it kind of fell in their laps. They were good at it and that was enough. Well needless to say I was the latter of the two. I could write a good story but I didn’t know all the ins and outs of what to do next. What is my target audience. What do I want to achieve with my book. How am I going to promote my book. Am I using my name or a fake name. Then toss in a couple of big words and I was ready to lay on the floor and drink from my wine bottle with a bendy straw. I was a professional at smoozing. If I didn’t know something I knew how to listen to the rest of the convo and fill in the blanks and still look like I had my stuff together. Well I found there was no room but to drown in this conversation with the verbal lyricist. Well after we regrouped and she told me ask her any question. (Which I did…repeatedly until I was confident) I decided she was the way to go. I picked the package that would get me edited and published. It was going to be me selling my book and they had services from beginning to books sold. I was like most red blooded americans…not rich..so I had to budget to get the most for my money that I could handle. I prepared to e mail my book to my new publisher. Did I mention I live on my phone. I actually wrote my entire book on my Samsung Galaxy. Yep…if you saw me was always on my phone. Nope not on fb…which I did frequent. No, I was writing my book. E mailing it to myself from my jotter pad app…saving to a word document on the laptop at home. And then repeat until I had all of the book together. Yes, my thumbs are super thumbs. So I edited my book several times and hit send. Now all I could do was wait. Wait and see if she was like one friend who texted me constantly with updates. Or like my other friend who waited until she was done. Well now it was just a waiting game. I had asked for references and heard back from them. She told me I would be her first romance..mainly they did self help or coffee table books. I made sure she was comfortable reading erotic romance. She said she was on board. So I had nothing to do but wait. Well honestly I was writing another book at the time to occupy my time. I sat patiently as my days passed and I was on pins and needles. She was so professional…what if she hated it..what if she thought my writing was complete garbage. What if she thought it was nothing she would ever promote. These were all the questions running through my head as I sat and patiently. Feeling like Sally Field when she said…“You like me ..you really like me.” That is what I was hoping for at least. So how long would I have to wait before. Got feedback….how long in deed.
