Halva fluff — otherwise known as “shredded halvah,” “halvah shaar,” or “hair halvah” — is a more delicate, versatile version of the bricks of halvah you’re probably familiar with. Because it’s shredded, it dissolves as it hits your tongue, like a sophisticated, nutty cotton candy. Though there are desserts  from all over the world called halvah, halvah fluff is Middle Eastern: It’s made with tahini and sugar or honey (it’s similar in texture, but not in flavor, to Turkish pismaniye, often referred to as “halvah floss” or “string halvah,” which contains flour and butter).
instagram
Unlike block halvah, which comes in an ever-increasing array of flavors (my favorite spot in Tel Aviv’s Levinsky Market has an irresistible Lotus cookie halvah, though New York-based Seed + Mill’s sea salt dark chocolate halvah is a serious contender ), shredded halvah sticks to the classics; it’s usually plain, though occasionally chocolate or pistachio flavored.
So how do you use halvah fluff? (Aside from eating it straight from the tub.)
Pair It With Ice Cream
instagram
Swirl the shredded strands into your ice cream base before freezing for a sesame ripple effect.
And/or bundle it on top of an ice cream sundae or milkshake. Add a drizzle of silan (date syrup) and a sprinkling of chopped pistachios for the ultimate indulgence.
Bake With It
instagram
Substitute it for marshmallows in ‘smores.
When recipes call for crumbled halvah, substitute the shredded variety. It’s much easier to work with, and less of a mess. I love to twist it into babkas.
Or use it for visual effect, as you would cotton candy, like wrapped around a layer cake for a Great British Baking Show showstopper challenge appeal, or swirled on top of cupcakes.

A Journey of Fragrances!
@amrass, finally here I am! I decided to add not only the current collection, but some other scented products and my notes. I hope this would be an interesting read! Because it's a long one :)
Notes
For long time I thought that I hate perfumes. It was a typical gift from family/friends, some pink and flowery, and then I discovered that there are so much more in fragrance world than a boquet composition of roses and jasmine. My main aim now is to try out as much different notes and brands as I can, to find the ones I like. I don't like to smell as somebody else, so I don't try any popular fragrances, I don't really appreciate the compliments like "you smell so nice, I want to buy this perfume too". I like feeling unique, pretenseous, and I'm not afraid to wear weird/strong fragrances, or being disliked because of them. The smell is always a story for me, but of course for an occasion when I care what people think of me, I choose something careful and subtle. My current collection
Nearly every one of them is decant/sample, but generally 1.5 ml is enough for me to decided whether it is hit or miss, and would I like to buy a full bottle or to get other scents from the brand.
Alexandre.J - Golden Oud
This one is too masculine for me; on a man, I think, it can be sensed as his own odour, not as a perfume. Very sour, and woody. Dries down beautifully into dusted wood.
Alexandre.J - Rose Alba
One of the first roses I ever liked—I love sweet roses, but I'm not really fond of green, grassy roses. Extremely pretentious, powerful, non-negotiable smell. It's sharp and clean, a swing of sword. For an occasion when you are the trouble in which young and naive individuals fall into.
Bottega Veneta - Parco Palladiano VII: Lillà
The smell of cold summer breeze on the seaside, a fresh bouquet of lilacs. The salt gives something bold to it—like growing up from the youth. Very beautiful and simple. The price is too much, but still I love it a lot, and I would like to have it in full bottle somewhere in my wardrobe.
Cartier - La Panthere
My only chypre fragrance, and it appeared that I don't like chypre at all. Oak moss is very sharp, mature, and for me smells like an old, old wardrobe stocked in a corner of grandma's house. Though, you can tell that this one is definitely an expensive, well-made perfume—I'm just not the audience for it.
Gucci - Bloom Intense
General luxury fragrance, pleasant jasmine, but not very long-lasting, and is rather simple. At home smells after 2 hours like Nivea cream, outside is more pleasant, a frivolous jasmine, but I'm not a big fan of the Bloom line, so it's more like if you didn't like one of them—you probably won't like any other.
Hermes - Un Jardin a Cythere
This is a hit! I want 100ml. It's a green pistachio, olive tree leaves and grass—smells exactly like all of that. Unique, intriguing, light, very beautiful. Extremely pleasant in summer, people turn their hands and don't understand where and what they smelled, haha. A summer dream, a promise, a little courage—these are the feelings I get from it. The Jardin line is rather pleasant, I smelled a few more, and I more or less like all of them, my second fav is Sur La Lagune.
Juliette Has A Gun - White Spirit
Extremely sharp but close silage, and a reminder of "This Is Not a Perfume" from this brand. At first, it smells like clean naked skin (I've never understood how perfume could smell like skin before I tried this one), then there's a bouquet on it of white fresh flowers, sweet and arousing. Simultaneously, perfume for inducing sexual thoughts and very moderate choice for every day. The sad part is, the molecules such fragrances use are rancid to people that can't smell them.
Memo - Sintra
My 2023 ultimate, unforgettable. Middle eastern sweets (halva, baklava, locum), candy from dried milk powder and green-green petitgrain. It opens with petitgrain, which is like a blast of sharp greenery (like a freshly torn wild grass), and then all the sweets come in, plus a little of orange and red berries. I absolutely love it. Dries down into milk and halva, and stays on clothing for days. I hunted it for a few months on a big discount, and finally we are together! I've been wearing it the whole winter with a fox fur near my neck and a woolesh sweater, and it blends with their animalistic smell... for me, it's very, very sexy.
Narciso Rodriguez - Ambree
A real hazard in every season aside hot, hot summer. Smells like very sharp men cologne. This was a blind buy, I was so sad... Yet, in +30 moist summer it suddenly became a pleasant tropical smell, a bit citrusy. Very lighthearted and nice, cute like candy, for a playful girl. Aroma for a vacation.
I had 3 more perfumes from Narciso, but didn't like any, their musk is unbearable for me after Covid (my nose receptors were entirely burned down, so I discovered smells anew). I liked "for her" 2003 (black bottle and cap) when I was 13-14, but I can't stand it, sadly, no more.
Nasomatto - Blamage
I liked it for the name and the concept for, like, a year, and finally bought 2ml in Feb, and I was very delighted to finally get a touch of Mr Gualtieri work. A shapeshifter, and an interesting one, on manly/mature side. Too powerful for me on the opening, but the drying out is very pleasant, a subtle natural wood. Aroma for the wearer, and not for the rest of the public, because it's not even a perfume in general sense. It's a natural, mixed odour behind you, more a reminder of places you might've been, than a perfumed "decoration" for pleasant associations. But that's precisely the concept behind Nasomatto, I guess,—the reminiscence of places on you, a story untold.
Nishane - Nanshe
This was a total miss. I nearly blind bought, but it's with rose, so I forced myself to try it out first. Well... Smells like very old cosmetic powder, like from 80s. After 3 hours there finally were carrot seeds and iris root for me, but so subtle, it doesn't worth it. I thought it would be courageous iris and carrot, which are powdery, very tasty for me, but no. Though the name is rather beautiful, the goddess of social justice and divination.
Rabanne - Lady Million
Strong honey from mixed flowers, for me, it's the smell of august, honey so concentrated it makes you drunk. Rather mature smell, imo, but still fun, coquettish. It makes me feel flirty, but, like, you have to earn my attention haha
Rabanne - Lady Million Fabulous
Generally nice and pleasant, sweet and youthful. I like it! Vanilla and white flowers makes it smell like a sunny summery day.
Rabanne - Olympea
I wanted to love it so much, it's apricots and salt, but it's a lame horse for me. Too much salt in the beginning, that makes it almost manly, then there's a little of apricots. For me, not balanced, and I used it quite a lot in one go, which turned out bad—I wanted to smell apricots, but instead was nauseous with salt.
Tiziana Terenzi - Rosso Pompei
My new love!!! Oh, I was so intrigued to try out any work of Mr Terenzi, and this is so good! I'm addicted. I thought I don't like lemons/grapefruits in fragrances (for example, nearly every Chanel perfume has citrus, and I don't like literally any), but I was amazed here. Juicy, sweet and plump grapes, fresh grapefruit. Like a bag of naturally flavoured hard candies. The ambra is extremely strong, which makes it rancid for some people, and the aroma lasts on me for a day, on clothing—eternal, doesn't want to be washed off really. A smell men love, and women hate (literally got flirtuous attention and a "omg what an awful smell" in the same day lmao). A smell of secret love, down-to-earth pleasures, hours to be carelessly enjoyed.
Tom Ford - Black Orchid (EDT 2023)
There is a joke among the haters of this perfume, that the inspiration for Mr Ford was the smell of the sweaty balls of his lover. Well... If used in very little amount (like half of the spray push), it's quite pleasant, sweet plum, peppery patchuli. But people like to do 3-5 full sprays, and it's absolutely rancid for me, stale come, sweat and fucking patchuli, I hate them now because of this lmao
Maison Tahité— ah, I bought 5 samples and that was a mistake, I usually buy only 1 sample/decant to get acquainted with the brand (I immediately know what types of scents they use), but I was so sure I would like it... Every single one has something that I dislike, but in general they share the first vanilla I've ever disliked— the childish smell of baking, cheap vanillin.
Cafe Gourmad—misleading name for me, very strong saffron with a strange rose, can't sense coffee in it. Nothing "warm".
Floranilla—the most likeable, this is the one with beautiful flowers (heliotrope does all the job, and imo it can make a rather dull fragrance more unique and enticing) and an awful vanillin. But at least I can wear it.
Sel-Vanille—dupe of Rabanne Olympia, there are differences, but they are subtle. It's ok.
Vanilla2— the smell of pinky-pink cosmetics for little girls, I hate it... very cheap, not exciting, dull smell.
Vanillade—vanilla is balanced with citrus, and it's simply ok, I can't even add anything else.
I don't have them now, but I had them:
Chloe - Rose Naturelle Intense Quite, intimate and as the title imposes—natural. Tender sweet rose, the milkiness of sandalwood and freshly cut wood. Honestly, nothing exciting, but it's balanced so right, and I love the subtleness of it, it mixes with sweat, and it seems as if it's not a perfume, but the scent the body emits on its own. Lasts for 2-3 hours, so I need it only on a biiig discount haha
Penhaligon's - Changing Constance
Subtle and intimate, one has to tuck the nose into wearers skin to notice it, and I love such sexuality, the allure. It's natural, fresh caramel, cig smoke and fresh red pepper (not like spices, but like vegetable). A slice of life—sweets, clothing and hair acquiring the smell of cigarettes, the sharp peppery sweat. A story behind the shoulders. I abosuletuly love it, it never has dicsount more than 20%, but I want it too much...
Scented Candles
Geodesis
This is a handmade French brand which for some reason brought the shop I regularly visit for groceries. I have Fir Balsam—explicitly natural aroma, fresh resin, like you just cut a wound in a tree... I also like Geranium, smells just like the flower, not as strong as oil usually does, and Boise d'Agar—like a wooden room full of cig smoke, magnifique. The perfumed compositions are very strong in here, with the smell emiting throught the whole room.
Milkhouse Candle Co
I have Summer Storm, which literally smells like rain in a green-green field, and White Driftwood&Coconut—amazing, light, tropical aroma, a bit like a thunderstorm, and natural coconut, not like Bounty or shower gel, but like the green ones with juice in them.
I love perfume compositions of WoodWick, but I become nauseous if paraffinium evaporates near me for a long time, so I haven't bought a single one. The composition may be a hit or miss, but the basic knowledge of odours gives a rather bright picture of what every candle may smell like (aside from their 3-layerd candles, which are hard to imagine without smelling). They have a new one, Santal Myrrh, which I think to blind buy for summer, when I can open windows to get rid of paraffinium vapour.
Bath&Body Works
I have not a candle, but a room spray, which pleasantly surprised me. Absolutely not synthetic, natural composition, and a nice one (I have Winter, tangerine+pine+cloves, literally smells like Christmas), I'm looking forward to buy a few more different ones. And last but not the least, I wanted to mention L'Occitane! I was in love/hate with them for a few years, because the price of body products is too expensive imo, and I'm not really fond of their regular smells (Lavender, Osmanthus, Cherry, etc) , but!! I abosultely love the new Melilot (galbanum!! and wheat) and Iris Pallida (iris root and herbs). I have body lotion and hand cream, and I'm totally smitten, I want to but a few bottles more haha. I also liked Noble Epine in the shop, but haven't bought any product yet.

Why alvaluca shippers (most of the time) don't like other Alva ships: An explanation
So I'll start this off with the statement that I do ship alvaluca and other Alva ships, so that we're all on the same ground with this. This is coming from a point of someone who has observed this situation for almost a year from the pov of a player and around half a year from a pov of active fandom participant. These are just my observations and you are free to add your own by reblogging this post. I would love to hear other opinions on this!
Another thing before we start, this is a strictly anti-harrasment space. I love a good discussion, but the moment any sort of harassment is started, that's where you get blocked. Be civil and don't go harass people who like any of the ships vauged or mentioned in this post.
To start this of, let's look at the situation: alvaluca is the current hot ship to hate in the idv fandom. It's the ship everyone will always try to argue about, even go to the lengths of making up lies to justify their hatered for the said ship (the infamous 'Alva knew Luca as a baby' lie). This already puts most shippers in a very defense position, somewhat isolated from the main fandom unless they also like some other ships a lot.
Now, compared to Luca who has been out for a lot longer than Alva as a playable character, we know Luca already has an assortment of ships to choose from. Be it with a woman or a man, there's a number of characters you can pair him up with. When Alva came out, this made him one of the few hunters that has a connection to a survivor prior to the games (the only other that we know of for now being Emma and Leo). So, as every modern fandom does, people attach the 'family' sticker to them, no matter how much that does not make sense with their backstories that we have for now.
So, we have a ship hated by the fandom and people putting 'family' label on them.
What could possibly go wrong when someone decides to like an Alva ship with another character? (sarcasm)
This is, unfortunately, how current fandom climate works. People will always look at characters, decide to call the ship 'problematic' and their first reaction to that is to make a ship with one of them that's a 'healthy' ship, whatever that means.
With Luca, this isn't that much of a problem since he has been in the game for longer, as I mentioned just now. But with Alva, it's a different story.
So let's start by looking at the first ship people latched on, Halva.
Starting this section with a very simple thing: most people who like this ship hate alvaluca. The ship is inherently a reactionary one, the one that says 'this is the good Alva ship!' Now, we can go into the story on how mischaracterised Alva is in this ship, how most people lach into pre-accident Alva even though that's not the Alva we have right now and how the ship itself often falls into the nuclear family type of a ship that people use and make them Luca's dads, but that not why we are here. I could make a whole post about it though. In a short summary, Alva gets heavily mischaracterised here, and there are a lot of issues on how people try to portray it. I will even go as far as saying that most people maybe don't even like the ship because they truly do but because it's the 'better' ship and the 'healthy' one, even though that's not even remotely close to the truth.
Now, there are people who like both ships. This explanation also requireds a lot of explaining that goes into character dissection, but we don't have time for that. But some people do like both. Not the majority though.
The behavior of halva shippers usually leaves alvaluca shippers to hate the said ship. Even if in reality it might even be their cup of tea and they would enjoy it, having shippers constantly hate on them and send them death threats, one would not want to be associated with such people.
But what about other ships? It makes sense for people to hate halva, but why would they hate other Alva ships?
Well, pretty much the same reason.
Any Alva ship that doesn't involve Luca is a 'safe' and 'good' ship, or how some people like to say 'healthy' ship. Personally, the concept of 'healthy' ships on fiction is dumb to me. If I like something that's considered problematic, I will still like it because it's just that, fiction. But, in a fandom that has a lot of children, sometimes ones that are getting exposed to fandom for the first time... well that's a recipe for a disaster.
So, a person whose sick of their ship being hated on so much, now sees the 'alternative, better' ship, their first reaction might not be 'this ship seems interesting' but will rather be 'great, another "better and healthier" ship for people to use to shit on mine 😒'
It is inherently a defensive stance, more often than not. After being the target for harassment, any other ship with Alva is now seen as the 'better' option for people to have instead of liking alvaluca. It is a very sad thing to see, especially as someone who likes multiple ships and does consider himself a multishipper. The fandom climate has taken a strong ship towards harassment instead of just ignoring things and it's very sad to see people flat out avoid ship with a character they like because of it.
However,
this doesn't mean that every person's reaction to the ship like that is from the right place. I do think it's fine to critique the way people might react to something, especially with a way they react to it.
I have seen people use things like 'Alva would hate (insert another character) if the met in canon' , 'this is just a safe vanilla ship it has no flavor' or even worse, 'it doesn't make sense'
let's start with the first one
Alva would hate (insert another character) if the met in canon
We don't know that. So far, our information on Alva is limited, only having Luca's birthday letters, Ann's character day letters, their trailers and his deductions. I doubt we'll get that much from his character day letter too, since it is the first one. We don't fully know his stance on a lot of things. Saying blanket statements like these is kinda dumb. And honestly, even if that was true, nothing is stopping people from shipping them. Enemies to lovers is a thing.
this is just a safe vanilla ship it has no flavor
This is a trap I see a lot of people who mostly like problematic ships fall into. I say this because I also sometimes fall into this mindset. So what if it's a vanilla ship? Some people like that! Hell, I like that even if most of my stuff is very questionable! You can take my vanilla cute ships out of my cold dead hands. So what if people like Alva and Burke or Alva and Joseph? let people have their old man yaoi!
This also goes with the fact that people are often expected to either only like problematic ships or only non-problematic ones. It's something really weird I've noticed, especially since 2020 and onwards when it comes to fandom spaces. Like, you can enjoy both! You don't have to pick sides! Sometimes you want to enjoy different things and that's fine!
it doesn't make sense
Let's get one thing clear: 98% of idv ships don't make sense. Hell, the most popular ones haven't even met in canon! Saying it doesn't make sense makes you sound like an anime dudebro, for the lack of a better world. I get that we have a problem with people being shitty to the alvaluca shippers, but that doesn't mean we get to also be shitty, even if it comes from a place of self defense in this case. Don't go that low please.
Now back on track
This seems to only happen with his ships with other hunters, oddly enough. While the stigma of hunter/survivor ships does seem to be gone for the most part, people still seem to stay away from ships like those to a certain degree. These seem to mostly go under radar in Alva's case, usually unbothered by this situation.
Conclusion:
The negative gut reaction by alvaluca shippers is caused by extensive harassment, therefore any ship with Alva is considered bad as anything not alvaluca is 'good' in the eyes of the larger fandom scale. This does not mean that the reaction is something that should happen, but it has become a product of the current fandom climate. The only way to change this is pushing out the harassment that is very rampant, but this takes time, and considering idv's fandom is full of mostly younger people, this is an issue that might not get resolved easily, as sad as it is to say it out loud.
I hope this was able to clear things up at least to a certain degree! Again, I would love to see anything added to this as long as it's civil!
Have a good day everyone!

HermAlva/HalVa headcanons because they're plaguing my mind (sorry it's long, like, it's their entire before manor lore):
Alva was the shy one
Herman was the first to confront Alva; they were both researching the same thing and Herman was like, "hmmm, he's cute, let's talk to him."
They became friends and there was always mutual feelings but none acted upon them
Herman met Maria(Luca's mum) and Alva watched sadly as Herman started his own life with Maria. He was never the less there for him tho
He met Luca before, when he was born to be precise. I don't care what NetEase says, it's my turn making the lore
Herman and Alva started the invention but suspicion started arising since they spent so much time together, alone, so Alva found a woman to marry who was in the same predicament
Alva and his wife made the mutual agreement they could see others in secret since they weren't in love but simply married for the social status
Herman took Luca with him to the lab sometimes
Herman cheated on Maria with Alva
Alva wanted to stop it, but he adored Herman too much
When Maria died Herman was heartbroken, of course, he did love her, but he stuck with Alva
Herman decided to say f you to society and chase a relationship with Alva
Alva was hesitant but agreed if they stayed together in secret
Luca grew up with the two of them taking care of him
Herman and Alva were pretty much Luca's dads
Herman kept trying to persuade Alva to run away with him and Luca but Alva declined, not wanting to throw everything they made together away
After an argument Herman took Luca and left, saying they just needed space
Alva was heartbroken and tried to do his best to get Herman to come back, or at least make sure he's living happily
Miscommunications happened and they lost contact, leaving Alva alone and heartbroken, with not even a proper wife to go back to
years later Luca came to his lab and asked to be his apprentice, claiming to have heard all about him from his father and having his biggest wish to work with him
Alva gladly accepted and Luca was surprised with the acceptance
Alva soon realized he didn't have memories of the two from when Alva helped raise him
Alva didn't stop treating him as his own son though
Eventually Alva tells Luca about their past and more misunderstandings happen
Alva protected Luca and died doing it

Breakfast: 140 cals. Granola bar.
Lunch: 274 cals. Coffee (12), maple syrup (105), and halva (157).
Dinner: 420 cals. Black sesame mochi (240) and orange pound cake (180).
TOTAL: 834 calories.
NOTES: Literally had 1 oz of halva that was 157 calories because I love it so fucking much. Also I cancelled my Bokksu subscription when I started restricting back in August, but today I picked up a box someone was holding onto for me. And I love black sesame and mochi so much, so I ate 2 desserts from the box. I feel an insane sugar rush because I haven't had that much sugar in so long! I was going to eat a real dinner tonight with friends, but I'll have to cancel on that because I don't want to eat any more calories today. I considered a metabolism day, but I just weighed in this morning as 139.8 lbs and I don't wanna risk tipping above again into the 140s. Also I'm not sure if the mochi and pound cake numbers are right because I had to guess, so I might be over 850 for today in reality.

What are the best Greek foods
first of all you cant go wrong w a classic gyro or souflaki (or souflaki with pita). you can forgo the tsatsiki sauce if its too much for you tho, personally im not huge on it either
also different kinds of pitas... tiropitakia and spanakopita are really good (though theyre mostly seen as side dishes) and tiropitakia/spanakopitakia make for a really good snack.
keftedakia are also really good especially with spaghetti. or if you want soup you can get them with youvarlakia
gemista are really good as far as rice goes imo, theres something really fun about just stuffing a veggie with the rice that its insides were used to make... full circle. also its its an eggplant it may be called papoutaskia (literally "little shoes" bc it looks like shoes lol)
another soup is avgolemono, its basically just lemon chicken soup with rice. personally i love it
pastitsio is great its like if lasagna was beefier and creamier imho
stifado is a good meat stew BUT PLEASE BE WARNED sometimes its made with rabbit and not all americans are okay with that so read what you order lol
tomatokeftedes and kolokithakia are really good. its fried tomato and fried pumpkin. i really like the latter
theres plenty of good seafood like spinialo, taramasalata (roe dip- not a meal), lakerda, fried marides, astakomakaronada (lobster pasta), ktapodi stin skara (grilled octopus), garides saganaki (shrimp), and mydia (muscles). i know i rattled those off pretty quickly but im not personally a huge seafood fan so i dont have much to say lol but DESPITE that i think id still eat most of them anyway
theres also kritharaki pasta which usually comes with lamb. theres also paidakia/grilled lambchops
for salads theres choriatiki which is sometimes just called greek salad
and for deserts my personal favorites are kokakia, theyre literally so good. theyre like if macaroons were better. but theres also the classic baklava, or halva (greek kind is made w semolina). galaktoboureko is also really good its literally SO creamy. and rizogalo which is just rice pudding w cinnamon. i also think portokalopita is really good bc its orange flavored and i love citrus. kourabiedes are also good but to be frank when i was a kid i just ate the powdered sugar off of them.
AND theres also some food typically only made for special occasions which is really good. tsoureki is a sweet bread usually made on easer or sometimes christmas, its similar to challah if youre familiar with jewish food, but its made with mahlepi spice so it has a slightly different taste. and vasilopita is a special cake only made on new years. whats cool about vasilopita is that theres a coin hidden inside of it and whoever gets the coin has good luck that year! its not taken super seriously but its a fun sort of game to play w the cake lol. also on any given outdoor celebration (easter or a panigiri) someone may cook a lamb on a spit which is usually pretty good imho, and i dont even like lamb.

LFC Headcanon Collection--Part 1
If I should add anything to this let me know (@alissonbecksfan234, @millythegoat, @moomin279, @lfc-fanfiction)
Tell me if you want a part 2!
Jurgen Klopp
Practically lives in his office at Kirkby
Almost never goes home to his own house
He's pretty clumsy (the staircase is the bane of his existence).
Pep Lijnders is his partner in crime when orchestrating chaos.
He never lets the boys know if something's bothering him.
Gets lonely pretty easily, thus why he remains in Kirkby
During lockdown 2020, he isolated himself in his house for weeks and his mental health went on a slippery slope. Lijnders had to persuade him to come out, after which he and the others decided to reside in the training grounds as much as they could in case of another lockdown.
Can keep any secret except his own
Ludger isn't his first pet--he's had multiple owls before, but they all died of natural causes
He hates saying any idiom or phrase related to death or dying
Always tells old anecdotes to his players
Has a tin-foil hat, but doesn't wear it often
His players just call him "boss"
Lijnders and the other staff call him Jurgen or Jurg.
His mom (RIP) called him Gen sometimes
Lijnders tried calling him that, but Klopp didn't like it at all and explained why
Alisson Becker
Still sleeps with a stuffed animal
Can't go three hours without hugging somebody or something
Most of his sweaters are either stolen from his teammates or Klopp
Absolute softie
Will scoop up a baby/small child within seconds of seeing them
He was embarrassed by the lilac kit at first, but grew to love it after much encouragement from the other guys
Sentimental to a fault and is afraid of hurting others with his huge size
He will kick butt if necessary, but it has to be a really bad situation for him to do so
Easily driven to tears and will often cling onto something or someone just for emotional support purposes
Doesn't really like post-match interviews but he'll do them
Brought Nemo (that macaw) to Kirkby once, but it bothered Ludger so he let him go back to Brazil
Everybody just calls him Ali
Klopp calls him "teddy bear" sometimes
Virgil van Dijk
He is actually "calm as you like" and will almost never kick butt unless you get him really mad
Doesn't like hugging anybody except for Joel, Ali, Robbo, Trentski and Klopp
Mainly wears darker colors and neutrals, wouldn't be caught dead in any pastel
Never undoes his man-bun
He'll eat anything caramel-flavored, but hides it
Is obsessed with Joel and will often drive him nuts while still managing to look chill
Is the best driver of the defenders
Will scare people off just by walking by
Is good friends with Bobby and speaks Dutch with him
Bobby was the first one he opened up to after P*ckf*rd injured him and he entered a wave of depression
Ali is his best friend
Doesn't mind when Ali steals his sweaters
Sometimes flirts with Ali, but only jokingly
Jokingly flirts with Matip too, but doesn't really show any other hints
Actually, he joke-flirts with most of his teammates
Is a "dynamic duo" with Pep Lijnders
Joel Matip
Loves exploring and is definitely an outdoors person
Has his own song, but is always interrupted or distracted while he's singing it and never finishes it in one go
When Ozan Kabak was at the club, he introduced halva to Joel. It's been Joel's favorite treat ever since
Doesn't really mind Virg's teasing and prodding, just acts cool so nobody tries to ship him and Virgil
He walked in on Mo Salah once and commented on his abs. Dejan nearly killed him
Has a tin-foil hat and totally believes in aliens
Doesn't really have a nickname but Virg calls him "Jo"
Kostas Tsimikas
Vibes to his own song from the fans
Once made a bet with Ibou that he couldn't create a rap song after the "Call Yourself A Teammate" video
Is a music geek and a DJ king
Liked Darwin from the start and learned some Spanish just to talk with him
Flirts with Darwin, usually jokingly
He tried to kiss Darwin once and Darwin didn't mind, but it was cut off when Klopp accidentally walked in on them
Copied Darwin's manbun just to impress him
Made a Manbun Club with him, Virg and Darwin in it
He's the leader and the others came along for the ride
Darwin calls him "Tino" but Darwin is the only one who can call him that
The others just call him Kostas or Kos
Andy Robertson
Lives on oatmeal cookies and Irn Bru
Loves his sweets but generally sticks to his diet
Often forgets to put on sunscreen and gets sunburns
Calls everybody "mate"
Is practically attached at the hip to Trent
Calls Calvin his "wee Scotsman brother" and takes him everywhere with him
Has a book of theories about his team; most of them are actually right
Is good friends with Milly but drives him nuts most of the time
Everyone calls him Andy or Robbo
Trent calls him Drew sometimes
He had a pigeon named Staffa, who mysteriously died
He loves hugging all the tall guys on the team so he can be lifted into the air and feel tall
He's the team jokester and prankster
Had a rivalry with Kostas when he first came to the club but now they're amicable
Loves to eat; his teammates usually know something's up if he refuses food
Ibrahima Konate
Is a textile nerd and he sews, knits and weaves
He has anime box sets and watches them to relax on the weekends
Is part of a rapping squad with Kostas and Harvey
Would look to Sadio for protection even though he's taller than him
Likes Alicia Keys just like Hendo and they vibe to it together sometimes
Is embarrassed about the rap song he tried to make for Kostas on "Call Yourself A Teammate"
Often a loner but will hang out with Harvey and Lucho sometimes
Robbo is the closest thing he has to a best friend
Everybody calls him Ibou
When Darwin heard his full first name, he tried to call him Ibra. But it came out more like bra and everybody laughed about it for weeks
Wears beanie hats just like Ali's and steals them sometimes

Just got back from celebrating my great aunt's 100th birthday. We went out to eat at her favorite restaurant, a little Mediterranean place with lots of outdoor seating. She typically eats outside at home too, I think she just enjoys watching the world go by, and boy has she seen the world change. It's always interesting getting her pov about it. Some things I can definitely relate.
- She does love that people are much more open about their health, emotionally, mentally, and physically. In her time it was a private matter not discussed beyond a doctor's office or within a tight social circle. She feels that it's made people more sympathetic to each other. While she has no health issues besides being deaf on her left ear, she's happy people can stop feeling ashamed of health troubles. I told her stigmas are still around but things are getting better. Especially with the youth pushing for more awareness and compassion.
---
- She sadly admits that the feeling of being left behind never gets better with age. She's outlived everyone she's loved besides her descendants. But her previous 6 husbands, 5 of her own children, her friends...they're all gone. Often by decades. She lost her best friend when she was 50, and then multiple people she knew began to pass away before their 70s. This has resulted in her growing numb to death, but she doesn't like it. She says she rather sob like a child for days, then to feel nothing at all. She says she now better understands her grandmother, who lived to be 103. She understands why the poor woman became a recluse.
----
I didn't bring up that I'm pretty much a recluse already. I've never had luck with friends sticking around, so I'm already desensitized to being left alone.
As usual, we stayed a good four hours talking over iced mint tea and rose halva, but around midway she was getting tired. She sleeps really early, around 8pm, and we headed out into the front yard with her daughter to catch up. We said our goodbyes, promising to come back one more time tomorrow, and went back to the hotel to go rest, and just in time because there was an event with fireworks going off, and we could see them pretty well from our upstairs room.
We had a nice dinner with delicious sides of salads, dolma, avgolemono, a big plate of flaky spanakopita, and chicken lemon rice. For dessert we all got various flavors of Italian soda. My favorite has always been rose and elderberry. I blame her. She used to make me this as a kid. She loves anything with rose water in it, and now so do I. She says roses are the secret to her soft skin. I believe it.
The next day we went to the forest with the intention of having a picnic, but it rained, so we ate in the car. But it was still nice because you just can't beat that fresh, cool smell of pines and rain. Later we went to ABQ to go shop a bit but it was so crowded everywhere and we couldn't find good parking. It was also hot. We decided to go into a museum and mooch off the A/C as we enjoyed learning some local history. Went back to my great aunt's, spent some more time with her, was given a bunch of baklava to take home, and off we went.
I'll be visiting her again, possibly in September, before the first winter snow at least. Any later than that and it's almost impossible to go up the mountain roads. Like me, she lives rural too, and rarely comes down the mountain to the village. I wonder if it's some bizarre genetic thing for my family to live apart from the rest of the world like this.

@lupusmatra sent: “Why are you buying so much food, Tighnari?” Cyno asks as the two of them walk through the bazar together. Cyno thought they were going to spend the day together and catch up, maybe even play some TCG, but it seems Tighnari has a few errands to run. Cyno doesn’t mind and he doesn’t mind carrying a few of Tighnari’s purchases either. However, Cyno is curious as to why Tighnari is spending so much and acquiring so many supplies. Has something happened to the forest rangers?
“Oh.” Cyno sounds when he’s let in on the secret. “It’s Collei’s birthday tomorrow and you’re throwing her a surprise birthday party.” Cyno smiles fondly at Tighnari. It’s a fantastic idea.
Tumblr media
There’s plenty of time left to collect all the things he needs and prepare everything at home so Tighnari is not in any hurry, but he still walks swiftly through the stalls of the bazar that tempt with scrumptious looking offers and delectable scents. He’s glad to have written up a list of what to buy beforehand or else he might stray and lose focus amidst all the possibilities. They’ll only need food and drinks for a handful of people but it is a special occasion and Collei deserves to feel celebrated.
Tumblr media
Cyno’s smile warms up his eyes in a way Tighnari has grown to love, the general’s approval of the idea written all over his face. Even though Tighnari didn’t ask for his help specifically Cyno took it upon himself to carry some of the bags to share the weight in typical fashion. “She didn’t ask for anything but I thought it would be a nice surprise,” Tighnari explains. He did get a gift for her as well but material possessions are one thing, good memories of friends and time spent together another.
“We still need some fruit and halva - do you want to pick the flavors?” His steps slow down as they approach a stall that sells all kinds of sweets, presented on large gold and silver plates and cut up into bite-sized pieces. They are a little overpriced but Tighnari knows the seller to offer great quality and given the occasion he figures living a little outside of budget is acceptable.
“I believe I heard Collei say that she likes the Ajilenakh ones, but maybe a selection would be nice..” A small chuckle comes over Tighnari’s lips. “Anything is better than me trying to make dessert again; you know how that went last time.”

40 little things I love about Israel (AKA the Israel the media won’t show you):
1. Beach libraries! Bus stop libraries! Colorful, well stocked, pop up libraries everywhere!
2. In Israel, the swings at a playground are spaced in a circle (instead of a line) so children can look at one another. It encourages interaction and community - very Jewish!
3. There were mice/bird issues in Israeli neighborhoods so the government released cats to combat the issue. When they realized it had gotten out of hand, vets started spay/neutering and vaccinating all of the stray cats so they’re all well taken care of.
4. There are flowers everywhere!
5. Beautiful graffiti! A lot of it uses the natural texture/shapes of structures to make art. So colorful!
6. A lot of neighborhood streets are themed. There’s a neighborhood in Ashdod that is named after strong Israeli women - my favorite!
7. The respect for the military. We give to those currently serving, we have holidays for those who have fallen in service, and our rehabilitation centers for those injured in service are top notch.
8. There is art - sculptures, mosaics, paintings - everywhere! We even turn useful things (benches, trash cans) into art. Or exercise equipment…like outside…at the beach. All art.
9. Makhtesh! (Mountains that were washed over with water causing them to collapse into themselves, causing massive crater-like valleys)
10. Trees! Someone is born? Plant a tree. Someone passes? Plant a tree. Just want to plant a tree? Plant a tree.
11. Promenades! Also referred to as “teyelet” in Hebrew. Pedestrians, bikes, flowers, cafes. Not sure where to go? Find the promenade and start walking. You’ll figure it out.
12. Jews are from all over the world - and they bring their food with them to Israel. Moroccan? Italian? Yemeni? Russian? Syrian? Slavic? Polish? German? French? Brazilian? Spanish? We have it ALL.
13. Similarly - Kosher? Pareve? Vegetarian? Vegan? Gluten-free? Israel’s restaurants typically have options for each and/or are very amenable to making changes when they can.
14. Super diverse geography! Mountains? Deserts? Beaches? Forests? Cold weather? Warm weather? YUP.
15. Public transportation is very efficient. You really don’t need a car. It’s also extremely affordable so there’s really no reason *not* to use it.
16. This one will blow your mind: religious tolerance! Does Israel have a lot of Jews? Sure! It also has Muslims, Christians, Atheists, etc. Israel prides itself on being very knowledgeable/aware/respectful of different religions and beliefs and caters toward each in the government, education, military, etc.
17. Museums! So. Many. Museums. Indoor, outdoor, UNDERWATER. All the museums!
18. Free in vitro-fertilization programs! (Healthcare in general is amazing)
19. There will be rosemary and sage that just grow wildly near the road? And you can pick it and cook with it? And we do? Often.
20. Such varied communities of Orthodox Jews. Hasidic Jews are such a small subset in the Orthodox community. They all have different traditions and appearances. It’s really wonderful.
21. Simchat Torah is a party in the streets. Honestly, all Jewish holidays just hit differently in Israel.
22. Salads. Colorful salads! Savory salads! Sweet salads! For those of you who are weary of Salad culture, Israel will change your mind. We eat salads at nearly every meal.
23. We have the best coffee. That’s it. We just do. (Our coffee and cafes are so good that Starbucks doesn’t survive in Israel. Who needs it?)
24. Lemonana. Or lemonade with mint. Just trust me.
25. The Dead Sea. Come see it/experience it before global warming makes it disappear!
26. Prisoners can vote in elections! We even have polling places in prisons to facilitate this. We actually put polling places in many places to ENCOURAGE voting by all Israelis.
27. The siren on Yom HaShoah. How the entire country of Israel comes to a stop no matter what they’re doing.
28. The views. There’s always a mountain you can stand on to see the ocean, the skyline, the desert.
29. There’s always new and old parts to cities and they somehow blend together really well. Israel is full of so much history and the Israeli people continue to build on that without disrespecting the past.
30. Sheirut Leumi AKA an alternative to compulsory military service that allows young Israelis to serve Israel in different ways ie. working at Independence Hall, explaining Israel’s history to tour groups, and any other visitors.
31. So many options to volunteer! Food pantries, hospitals, nursing homes - giving back to the community is a key tenet in Judaism and is common in Israel. (Our bus stops have monetary donation boxes!!)
32. The shuk aka the massive open-air market in Jerusalem. Google it. It’s magical. (There are a lot of shuks throughout Israel but the most well known and largest is in Jerusalem.)
33. Banks are like works of art? They’re architecturally stunning? It’s like being transported back in time. Even newer banks are built in older styles.
34. So many parks and botanical gardens. And they’re all FREE!!!
35. Halva. I could eat pounds of it.
36. The sunsets. Nothing compares.
37. Universities are fun to visit? All are welcome. They often have tours open to the public and they’re designed with that in mind.
38. Our money has braille on it! And we have a theatre that is dedicated entirely to the deaf and blind communities. How cool is that?
39. Light shows. We like to light up buildings and we hold events showcasing lit fountains and other light adorned structures. I don’t know but it’s a big thing.
40. Kosher everything! Kosher glue on stamps! Kosher food fed to animals at the zoo! Kosher McDonalds!
