Cyberweek 2024 Day Four: Summer
Beach Day~!
I love the beach aestetically, but I'll be honest; summer is not my favourite season. It's fine, but I don't handle the heat well. Still, it makes for some cute pics. Also, I wanted to draw Shari at least once more, to make up for never drawing her before.

The Forgotten-3
Pairing: Lucifer x Butterfly!Fem!reader
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel x Stsr vs the forces of evil
Warnings: takes place before Hazbin Hotel, Alternative Universe
One | Two| Navigation | four
You and Lucifer were Currently hanging out in your usually spot below an apple tree, Lucifer was reading a book and petting Keekee. Something he does so often when you guys hang together.
As for you, you were currently hanging upside from the apple tree and thinking was a good thing to do on this fine afternoon. Not gonna lie you were bored, to the point you would learn more spells from the family spell book.
Then you remembered
You were currently getting snacks for both of you and Lucifer, come on apple all the time and your craving some chocolate. Do they have Snookers on earth? No they don't,
maybe a Mewni thing? But SNOOKERS!
You then read about festival that's gonna be held at night in a poster outside of a shop...
You suddenly jumped out from the tree, which nearly gave poor Lucifer and Keekee a heart attack, you gave them a nervous smile.
"i just remembered there's a festival in this Village later , we should go" you suggested, while Keekee looked intrigued, Lucifer froze and debated to join.
"I don't know..."
You noticed this and nudge Lucifer shoulders" hey come on it will be fun...and it's my first festival ever!"you said and he looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
"first?"
"yeah,i never been to festival before" it's true though you been to one,you were always cooped up inside the Castle for protection, monsters roam around a lot so as a Princess of Mewni you and Eclipsa need to protected.
"aren't you like in your early 20s, and you still couldn't go?" He pointed out .
"I'm a busy lady"Busy as in studying magic with Glossaryck , because you late be taught, unlike Eclipsa, she was taught when she was Fourteen until she became Queen. You were taught later on...
"please Luci"Lucifer wanted to agree, but some of people here have Guardian angels and he was doomed if he was caught, you see he was forbidden to even go to earth. He only break those rules for you...
"come on Luci"you gave him puppy dog eyes he couldn't resist.
Ugh the things you do to me
He finally agreed, you jump up and down not notice the root Of the tree and you stumbled on it , falling on top of Lucifer.
Oof
You felt his chest under you and his hot breath on your face ,you looked at his eyes. You two looked at each other as if time stopped and nothing was around you two .
You felt fireworks as held you...
Then the moment was suddenly interrupted by a Meow and saw your Beloved companion in her little earth form.
You the realized you were on top of Lucifer, you stood up quickly , feeling the heat of your face spread .
"c-c-come o-on we s-should go!"you stuttered and ran away quickly as Keekee followed.
Lucifer stood there stunned... also blushing
You walked through the sea people with Lucifer in the festival. You were having the best night of your life trying different foods from different stalls. Keekee was also happy being fed .
As for Lucifer he looked like he was hiding for someone ? He wore a cloak and the hood was on, he was being cautious around other people...
Does he not like going outside in the crowd?
Maybe you should have listened to him not go to the Festival?
Maybe the he didn't agreed at first is because he's not good with crowds?
Then suddenly you got an idea.
"Keekee, can you watch Lucifer for a while?i gonna do something okay?"Keekee was hesitant at first. She was made to protect you at all cost, that why she neve leaves your side...
"oh come on Keekee it'll be quick, and if anything happens I'll shout" Keekee still feels the need to go with you,but she sense a bound between you and the King of Hell. Ofcourse Keekee knew...
She felt the energy radiating from him since day one.But some reason she didn't find him a danger to her wielder....
At the end she agreed...
Lucifer knows he fucked, Ultimately fucked,he sense angelic auras everywhere. He may have hid his demonic aura but he knew one slip up they'd find him and report back to heaven.
But he couldn't say no to you...
He saw how your eye's sparkle at every stall and every games in the festival.
He suddenly froze, a old man walks pass by him and he saw a guardian angel floating by his side.
He screwed...
But some reason he wasn't seen...
He felt something soft brush his legs and looked down to see a cat with cat with a scar on the left eye...
Keekee...
Speaking of Keekee...
Where's n/n?
He looked around and started to panic , until Keekee nudge his leg. She pointed with her paw to a direction and he followed.
She began to guide Lucifer to your whereabouts.
Until they saw you talking to a vendor of...
Lanterns?
He walked up to you ,you smile when you saw him.
"surprise!" You hand him a lantern.
"what this?"he asked
"a lantern"
"yeah,but?"
"just follow me " you suddenly grabbed his hand and walked to a cliff in a fast pace.
Your long red hair flowed through the air as your Turquoise eyes sparkle.
"let's lit this Lanterns up" you told him and he only nodded.
"i saw you feeling uncomfortable earlier so hopefully this lantern can help?it always makes me feel better. My father always make me and my sister these when i was little..."you explained only looking at the Lanterns float away.
Lucifer looked at the beautiful Lanterns float away but nothing can compare to your smile...
"thanks n/n"
"huh?oh... You're welcome Luci!"
You just got back from earth and fell down to your bed with a groan, you enjoyed the festival with Lucifer...
But you remembered what happened earlier before that..
You felt his chest under you and his hot breath on your face ,you looked at his eyes. You two looked at each other as if time stopped and nothing was around you two
You felt fireworks as held you...
Keekee looked at you out of her Earth disguise.
"come you saw that,it was embarrassing but..."it was still in your mind
"you what time for bed!"
You got ready for bed and tomorrow is another day.
You were currently practicing some magic with Glossaryck.
"why are my ancestors spells so hard ?!"
"well how about you try out some of your spells?"he suggested and you nodded.
"Dreamer's Hallucinations"
"our of all the spell-"it hit a mirror and suddenly Glossaryck got cut off when the beam hit him.
"IT'S A POOL OF CHOCOLATE PUDDING!"
"WAIT GLOSSARYCK THAT'S NO-"he already jumped into dirty fountain in the garden.
"Magica Reverso!"you conjure another spell.
The spell before got reverse and now Glossaryck jump away from the murky fountain,he almost ate moss..
"let's not talk about that.."
"aye aye !"
"try another spell that's not included hallucinations..."
You though for a moment...then realized...
"oh i have spell that I've been working on!"it was a spell that can defend your whole entire family and everyone in mewni.
"it's a defense spell"you mentioned and Glossaryck conjured up a puppet.
You concentrate and said the spell in your head multiple times to be ready to say it , Glossaryck waited until you were ready.
"Wither and Decay Let Rose Decompose..." A dark violet beam shot out of the wand as your cheek marks looked like it was blossoming like a rose ?
Glossaryck saw this and was shocked your marks are like roses ?
The beam shot through the poor Puppets chest , roses exploded from it's chest and loud boom echoed through the whole Palace.
You marks were still glowing and now fully blossom to be a dark rose.
You watched at horror as the roses slowly consumed the poor puppet.
"n/n!" You heard sister call out in concern, she heard the loud boom from the garden, she quickly ran out of the throne room because she knows you were having magic lessons with Glossaryck.
She saw you marks, she was shocked. They were not red circles anymore but dark Roses. She also noticed a puppet?
It was slowly getting consumed by what it looked decaying roses?
The Magical High Commission also join in and saw what happened.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!?"A girl with flame ontop of her head yelled out
"what did you do?!"Romulus exclaimed.
Uh oh
Glossaryck has seen this type of spell before...
Eclipsa's
He warned her not to use that spell before, she listened ofcourse... because she was starting to grow black veins in her arms , that's why she now wears gloves...
You felt guilty as you made your sister concerned...
Everyone watched as the puppet exploded into white petals. Now your cheeks where back to a red round shape marks.
"I'm sorry..."

Lumax vs Milevn
One thing that I absolutely love about contrasting Lumax and Milevn is that they followed such similar paths up to a point at which they diverge. And that point of divergence is EVERYTHING.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For starters, Lucas and Mike start off as each others' love interests biggest haters. They try to shut El and Max out of the party respectively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, Lucas and Mike are the only ones who treat Max and El with full respect and acceptance right off the bat. They develop a closer bond than the others, Max and El confiding in Lucas in Mike more than they do the others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one's obvious...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then we get into the absolute ridiculousness of season 3. The girls break up with their boyfriends, laugh about it, the boys bemoan. It's all humor. It's the epitome of youth. Teenage drama.
Sidebar: I hated both of these ships when I first watched this show. I could not get over the ick factor I felt watching children kissing. I kept being like EVERYONE STOP! YOU'RE TOO YOUNG FOR THIS! Am I really meant to LIKE this??? IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE ROMANTIC???
*cough* Anyway, that was my first impression. So the fact that I am a hardcore Lumax shipper now really demonstrates just how phenomenally that story was told in season four. Bringing us to the divergence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Breaking up versus staying together. I'm not even going to talk about El lying to Mike for six months in this post. This is just about the breakup.
Breaking up Max and Lucas for real (as opposed to how she used to break up with him every so often for the fun of it) while simultaneously entering these characters into high school allowed them to evolve separately from one another and confront more adult struggles. Max distances from her friends as a consequence of trauma and Lucas distances in an attempt to fit in. The conversation between Lucas and Mike
Tumblr media
shows how much Mike is taking for granted. Lucas's desire to belong is due to his experiences with bullying and we have canonically seen that for Lucas, this was rooted in racism. Maybe he joined the basketball team because he's just good at basketball, but I think it's worth mentioning that he joined a team with at least three other black boys on it. I'm not going to write a whole article about Lucas's struggles with racism here, but my point is that what Lucas went through with Billy probably had some lasting effects on him just like it did on Max.
So both characters struggled with finding out what they wanted and who really mattered in season 4 and ultimately, this led them back to one another.
On the other end, we have Milkdud doing the exact opposite. Lumax is physically near one another but broken up. Mildew is physically apart but still together. They struggled alone and pretended things were the same between them, not allowing themselves the opportunity to reassess.
THIS STEP WAS NECESSARY. Maybe that's just opinion, but they are not the same people in season 4 as they were in season 2, especially since a lot of the trauma of season 3 has forced them to mature quicker than they otherwise would have.
These relationships parallel one another in seasons 1/2 to demonstrate how boy-meets-girl might play out. How a crush can evolve into a friend and into a relationship. Then in season 3, they parallel to show how shallow the relationships BOTH are at this stage. How inconsequential young romance is in the grand scheme of things. And they diverge in season 4 to show us that trying to continue on as though you are still the same people in the same relationship as you were when you were kids is not going to grow your relationship into a healthy and mature one.
Personally I think Mike is gay, but IF HE'S NOT, Mike and El could have strengthened their relationship had they allowed themselves distance from one another. I didn't ship Byler yet when season 4 came out. Had Milelevator been executed differently, I fully believe I could have shipped them. Lumax is proof of that. The fact that I don't is a consequence of the INTENTIONAL differences between the ways these two relationships were written.

Hi! Do you think that s2 big reveal will be that Armand manipulated Louis memory? What do you think the "disastrous consequences in Dubai" mean? Louis attempting suicide as many books fans expect?
no. i think the "big reveal" will be that armand didn't have to. louis knows armand did the thing and stayed with him anyway like he did in the books. they very well may lead the audience to believe armand is doing that to louis, when it was actually daniel who got his memories wiped (and daniel may have agreed to it.) and i think any inconsistencies about the events of s1 that may or may not be revealed will be because of louis repressing memories the old fashioned way. at most armand helped a little. and i'm not saying that only because of the racist and abuse apologist implications or just cause i'm an armand stannie or whatever, although that's all also true. i'm saying that because i think the story is better for it.
to me, armand having significant overarching influence, especially though literal magic, on the story we've been told (specifically LOUIS's story told BY louis), undermines the theme of "memory is a monster." they told us the fallibility of memory in this story is the real life kind; how memory naturally changes every time we remember events in our lives, how our present self affects how we look at the past, etc. this is a fantasy story, yes, but it's very much grounded in reality. the racism isn't "fantasy racism", for example. having the twist be that a crucial element of the story that we were told was real was actually magic would lame and disappointing as hell. i think daniel having his memories wiped magically will be a parallel to louis. but the thing about parallels is that they're not meant to be literal or complete, and they emphasize differences as much as similarities, in order to reinforce the ideas and themes of the story, not replace them. so i think that while louis and daniel's memory issues can look similar on the surface, they have different causes and the show will make it clear which is which.
hell, they've even shown us magical manipulation vs regular manupulation before. we saw lestat entrance several humans including louis himself ("his gaze tied a string around my lungs and i found myself immobilized") but it was done in a way that made it obvious when it was happening, so general audiences weren't speculating lestat was using vampire magic to make louis fall in love with him or agree to be turned or whatever. he was shown to have powers he could have used at key points but didn't, more often using very basic human manipulation tactics, which were actually even more effective. even the idea of lestat causing paul's death was brought up only to be discarded. i think they'll pretty much do the same thing with armand, only teasing us a bit more with it. and sure, some people will still speculate, but i think this is what the intention of the writers is, and hopefully they do it well.
i assume the "disastrous consequences in dubai" is an interview quote and i've heard something like that but since i don't have the full context in front of me it's hard to say much about it. if you could tell me the whole quote and who said it and where and in what context i could probably talk about it in more detail lol. link me if you'd like?
what i will say right now is that i think there's gonna be a lot of arguments and accusations and revelations in dubai, i think louis will go through a hell of an emotional rollercoaster, i think daniel will find out about the eternal sunshine of the devil's minion as i like to call it, will ask to be turned again or at least realize he still wants it, i think louis and armand will break up, and i think there will be a book released by the end.
the louis suicide attempt theory i believe is based on merrick, which i still haven't read (i need to get my shit together and read it before may 12th lol) so it's difficult for me to say much about it? i know he attempts suicide at the end and that him talking to claudia's ghost who's fucking furious with him is a thing that happens. something like that anyway, i've read some quotes from it. i highly doubt louis has been talking to her literal ghost at this point in the show, he's just doing that metaphorically. i would love to see it in the future though.
honestly to me just the fact that armand said out loud that he thinks the interview is basically louis's suicide note indicates that's probably not actually what's going on. that's usually how it works in stories lol. when the character tells you what they think is gonna happen it never happens like that. (on the whole "other vampires will paint the walls with his blood" thing, i think the human world will assume the book is made up bullshit or daniel is senile or crazy, and because of that most vampires won't care that much. would be pretty dumb to kill him since it would only draw more attention to him and the book. i do like the idea of lestat, inspired by louis, going on to more or less successfully prove the existence of vampires, causing a big ruckus, and the whole "great conversion" thing that was mentioned, being a part of the show version of the queen of the damned somehow.)
louis attempting suicide could still happen i guess but i just don't think it's that interesting or particularly good writing in the context of the story being told in seasons 1 & 2. not only because it's kinda predictable and basic and boring to me but like. if he tries kill himself and fails, that's basically him being forced to live. to me, louis choosing to live on in this continuous state of mourning is much more compelling and devastating even, than him having no choice in it. it's like with him staying with armand, isn't it waaaayyy more fucked up and sad if he's doing that of his own volition as opposed to being kept there against his will? that's a story about who louis is, the choices he makes, not about how he's a victim. of course he still is an abuse victim etc, and that's certainly not his fault, but him blaming himself and seeing himself as just as bad as lestat or armand because he "let" it all happen is, to me, a core part of his character. in the book he monologues about his passivity being his biggest fault; in the show he insists "i'm not a victim" even as he's telling us a story about being abused. abuse culture & catholic guilt baby!
also. the thematic note the book ends on is, to me anyway, about the human spirit clinging to life even in devastating circumstances. armand tells louis how so many vampires resort to suicide, but louis doesn't (in book one.) he keeps going, haunted by his past, dead inside and out yet still alive, unable to let go. and he spends the whole book telling daniel the boy reporter how awful immortality is and yet daniel still wants it, thinking it will be different this time. choosing the horrors life throws us, even the cursed half life or unlife of a vampire, over the horror of the unknown that is permanent death. etc etc etc. i love this part of the book too much to want to let it go!
hell, armand only tries to kill himself after finding out what hell is "really like" in memnoch the devil, and while i don't know cause i haven't read merrick yet, i bet that influenced louis too. death isn't as terrifying when you know what to expect.
and i'm also just not a fan of the idea that actually most of the other books' events have also already happened. because then that influences the characters who are telling us the story, in ways that we won't find out until seasons later. like if louis tries to kill himself at the end of season 2 and then in like season 7 or some shit we find out actually it wasn't because of what happened in s1-2 it was actually because right before the interview he was talking to claudia's ghost who said horrible things to him and also because he found out hell is real but it's actually a bit more like purgatory where if you prove yourself you get to go to heaven eventually and also because— like you can see how that would be bad storytelling right? lmao. not that revealing new information about characters or events later is always bad, it can be very interesting and beneficial even, but not if it undermines or completely changes the whole story before that point. not shading AR's retcon habit here at all not at all of course not i would never do that
anyway i think i've rambled enough. thank you for asking!

*wheelchair annon rolls in*
Does Leo ever have successive days of being able to do things he hasn't for a while, of feeling better and more capable and more HIMSELF, only to have it all seemingly snatched away by the successive BAD days that follow like dark clouds, snatching away his autonomy and his thinking and his capability and his good mood like its all a big joke? How does he deal with it? (Overdoing it on good days very often leads to this, for me. It does get easier to deal with with time, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.) (Sorry about the gloomy question. I was going to ask something else but I have been fighting a migraine all day... you can probably guess why lol.) *wheelchair annon rolls out*
Hi wheelchair anon! I'm so sorry to hear about your migraine :( I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this!
I've actually been thinking a lot about Leo's good days vs the bad ones since the last time you sent an ask so this is good timing haha. For this ask everything I'm going to talk about is after Leo has recovered (as much as he's going to) and gotten his powers back - obviously things are a lot more shaky earlier on in his journey.
Even on good days Leo can't really get around like he did before (he's not going to be jumping across rooftops or trying the 1440 off the halfpipe), but he can walk around pretty good for basic daily life stuff around the lair and even do a few of the physical things he used to, like shooting hoops or riding on his skateboard (though, he doesn't do tricks, and they make him wear a helmet and knee/elbow pads because they don't want to risk him breaking anything). I was talking on discord too about how Leo gets into gliding around after his brothers to film them doing tricks, then he and Mikey edit the footage with old 90s skateboard video aesthetics. And while he doesn't go on patrol with his brothers (monitoring them from his command center instead), he joins them on planned missions or can portal in to join them in a fight (though he still mostly runs support and doesn't often trade direct blows with anyone). It helps that Donnie can make temporary construct versions of virtually any of his mobility aids on the fly if Leo joins them on a mission and ends up needing something immediately that he didn't or couldn't bring with him (Leo complains about the purple every time, it's a running gag).
So yeah, on good days Leo usually feels pretty great, and much more like himself, and it definitely improves his mood every time! But that also means when he gets a good day, especially early on, he wants to go go go and do do do, enjoy all the things he doesn't have the energy for or is in too much pain to do on his bad days. And this definitely means he overdoes it, especially in the beginning. But even when he's careful, bad days still hit him and it sucks every time.
On Leo's bad days he usually sticks with his wheelchair even in the lair, sometimes using his walker instead. He also makes liberal use of his portals if he's really feeling drained. How much he can do depends on the day, and usually how much he did the day before.
On his very worst days, especially ones coming after a string of good days where he got to do a lot, Leo can get really depressed and not even want to get out of bed. Usually his family at least encourages him to get up, take a shower, brush his teeth, sit with them, do things other than lay in his bed because they know it will make him feel better, even if he doesn't really want to do it. But then there are days he doesn't even get that far. Days like that make him pretty miserable. It feels like his body betrayed him all over again, and is a reminder that the rest of his life is going to be up and down like this. And he hates how much help he needs on days like that, especially coming off days where he doesn't really need help much at all. He has to start asking for it again and it embarrasses him.
He'll learn to deal with it in more mentally healthy ways over time as he gains better coping mechanisms; he'll never be fully okay with it, like you said it will always hurt, but over time not all his bad days come with a complete mental health nosedive. He has days where he feels bad physically but is still able to enjoy the company of his family and friends or enjoy some Lou Jitsu movies or what have you. He's always annoyed that he can't fully predict how he's going to feel in advance, even as he gets older and more experienced, but over time he'll have fewer "fully depressed laying in bed" days (though still some of those, and some "physically too pained to move" days as well).
And of course no matter how he's feeling on any given day, his family is always sure to remind him that they love him no matter what. <3
Like I said, I hope you feel better when you read this, anon. Thanks as always for the ask! I hope I answered it alright.

Do you think DBZ fights would be better if Goku and his pals really showed how strong they were? Like, all of them can destroy one planet, at least. It'd be fun to see guys like Yamcha and Chiaotzu crumbling mountains, or shaking continents and all that other crazy stuff.
Honestly? Probably not.
I get what you're saying, and it's pretty cool when the scenery gets wrecked during a big fight. But if it happened all the time, every time, it would get boring. And since nearly every major character is more than strong enough to destroy the whole planet, then any two of them fighting could potentially wreck the whole world if they were sloppy enough. What do they do then?
I look at it like this: In a fight between two "planet-busters", the most impressive thing either one of them can damage is their opponent. Take Vegeta vs. 18 for example. She dared him to fight seriously, and he boasted that if he truly fought with his full power, it might destroy the whole Earth. That's how powerful Vegeta was as Super Saiyan. Frieza tried to blow up Namek on purpose and it didn't quite go off like he wanted. But Vegeta was so powerful that he could destroy the Earth without really meaning to. And then this happened:
Tumblr media
Why? Well, put simply, 18 could apply an even greater power than Vegeta without destroying the Earth in the process. Unlike him, she could direct that power exactly where she wanted it to go, which was his left arm.
I mean, it's cool and all that Piccolo destroyed the Tenkaichi Budokai arena during his fight with Goku, but what did that accomplish? He destroyed a lot of stuff, but he didn't hurt Goku at all, so it was just a waste of energy.
I often think about the time Cell achieved his perfect form, and how it caused this tremendous upheaval on the whole Earth. When Cell represented the top of the food chain, it made sense, but Majin Buu could wipe out Cell in two seconds and they both know it. Yet we didn't see the same kind of world-shaking power whenever Majin Buu did anything. You'd think every time Buu scratched his head it would cause earthquakes or something, but no. Why is that?
My pet theory is that the big dramatic powerups with thunder and quakes and tidal waves are always because the person powering up doesn't have complete control over their maximum power. So when Vegeta went to max power to fight Goku in the Saiyans Saga, it caused a lot of rumbling, but Goku fighting 19 did not, even though Goku was operating on a far greater level. The power level probably has some role in it, but it's more about the power the user isn't controlling, and where that extra power is going.
And there are times when a character is so overwhelming that he can cause a lot of destruction and still dominate his opponents. Movie villains tend to fall into this category. But even so, it betrays a lack of skill, at least when they're fighting at that level. And usually the guy that beats them is able to reach that same level without the same kind of fanfare.
I guess to put it in a more real-world way, when I watch pro wrestling, I want to see the wrestler's fight each other, not break the ring. A lot of hardcore/no DQ/deathmatch style wrestling matches will spend more time setting up spots with foreign objects. Guys will be fighting and then one of them will roll out of the ring and set up a table, then stack two chairs on it, then light a kendo stick on fire or whatever. And sure, there's a place for that, but they tend to waste a lot of time on this nonsense when they could just... you know... hit their opponent.
But I will grant that a mountain breaking apart during a fight is a cool spectacle. I just don't see it as an end unto itself.

Originally I was going to add this to the ask @autistictenno recieved about nyx & excal but honestly it deserves it's own post. So here's a little history lesson on Warframe and Digital Extremes for y'all.
A lot of the early concepts for Warframe actually came from DE's older game, Dark Sector. I never played it myself but I've read a bit about it and have been around Warframe since it was in closed beta. Basically Dark Sector had a lot of sci-fi stuff planned for it that got cut and the final product was a bit like resident evil and the story followed Hayden Tenno who becomes mutated as a result of the 'technocyte virus' (cough cough Warframe infestation). The general plot involves him trying to stop a scientist from spreading the virus to the whole world. A lot of stuff about him influenced everyone's favorite frame Excalibur. The final boss of the game, Nemesis, also influenced some stuff about Nyx. This is hinted at with the proto deluxe skins you can buy for them in the Warframe market.
Here's some image comparisons between Dark Sector and the proto skins in Warframe. Some of the images come from the dark sector wiki (https://darksector.fandom.com/wiki/Special:AllPages) The others from this review (http://einfogames.com/reviews/dark-sector/) which was published in 2012, just after warframe was announced but before the closed beta for it started.
Here we have Hayden Tenno and Nemesis
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
vs Excalibur and Nyx Proto skins (took screenshots of these myself)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the iconic glaive got a proto skin (though it doesn't look that much different from the regular one in warframe)
Tumblr media
Before Dark Sector DE mainly only did work-for-hire contracts and struggled getting a publisher for Dark Sector which is why a bunch of stuff got cut. The game only received moderate reviews and DE once again ended up doing work-for-hire contracts, and the studio almost became bankrupt before quickly scrambling to get Warframe out the door. They struggled getting a publisher for that too and ended up just doing a closed and then (endless) open beta for the game themselves, the only thing that kept them afloat was the founders program. After awhile, they got their lucky break and the game made it big. Like REALLY big. Like 4 million (losers) users big. Now it's up to 31.6 million registered accounts and an average of 601k players per day. (Statistics by https://mmo-population.com/r/warframe/)
DE and Warframe have been through so much and changed so much through the years. It went from this tiny little game I didn't think much of into one of my favorite games of all time with more breadth and depth (and lore!) than I would have ever expected. And even though updates still often come with a lot of bugs, I really couldn't be more proud of how far they've come all these years. Seeing Steve give Rebecca the pink shorts as a way of passing the torch really touched my heart in a way I don't even know how to describe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top image of this section is from a review of closed beta in december 2012 (http://xkrieg.blogspot.com/2012/12/warframe-beta-impression.html) Bottom one is my own screenshot dated today, November 16, 2022 (click it to see full res, tumblr compression kind of sucks for images of that size)

I've been thinking about this, while many of the trial two songs reflect the choices we made; the innocent vs guilty verdict and the reasoning for that verdict (be it Es or the "voices"). Haruka's song doesn't really do that. Most of these songs are trying to flip our current expectation of the characters while directly acknowledging us, the audience, see Mu inno -> guilty or Fuuta guilty -> inno There are exceptions like Yuno and Shidou who have back to back innos, they still reference our choice in their songs. Not to mention Milgram's wide definition of murder regarding these situations but I digress. While yes, you can see everyone's opinion of Haruka leaning towards being guilty of his crime. Given what we have been presented that is a fair assessment. However, I often questioned myself that if Haruka had been voted guilty in trial one would this song put Haruka in a sympathetic light? I found my answer to be yes, All-Knowing And All-Agony makes me feel bad for Haruka. It feels oddly flexible, change up some lyrics and visuals and they could crank up that sympathetic factor to do something like I Love You did for Mahiru. In this hypothetical could it have turned Haruka's guilty verdict to a inno one? I don't know. I'm just saying how odd it could work either way.
But it doesn't have anything to say about WHY we chose Haruka to be innocent or any sort of thanks to "us/Es" for making the choice. There is no audience imput, while you could argue it was too early in Milgram's life as a project, Weakness and Umbilical were only released roughly a month apart. I can't find when their voting ended but if there's enough speculation for Yuno to have something surely there were reasonings for Haruka's innocence.
Tumblr media
There is this line, but it could be read as: "I can't stop [killing small things] does that still make me a good person?" which would make it seem like Haruka is self reflecting Or "Hey, hey I can't stop. Am I still innocent to you?" In reference to "us/Es" I won't deny it could be a 4th wall break, I don't really see it as one since the other trials have been more overt with their message to the audience The voice drama itself also doesn't mention any reasons as to why we believed Haruka was innocent. He thanks Es for the innocent verdict but Es reminds him that there's still more to uncover, he may yet be guilty, instead of explaining their thought process or what they saw to Haruka. This edgier and rougher song could've been in response to Es basically mocking Haruka, he practically had a tantrum when Es told him he isn't out of the clear for his murder.
Tldr; All-Knowing And All-Agony sounds like a song that was prepared for either outcome of trial one. Noting how for someone who's innocent it sounds like someone who got a guilty verdict instead and a distinct lack of any explanation, from Es or the "voices," on why we voted him innocent.
In the end I just don't know how long ago All-knowing had been drafted up, so this is just speculation on my part.

would you do that thing where you review/rate the op movies, if that's ok? :3c
ok NOW that I'm mostly done with the One Piece movies, it's finally time to start writing this monster of a review post. I'm gonna say sorry in advance for how long this post is gonna get.
Tumblr media
1) One Piece: The Movie -> 6/10
This movie is fine, not much to say about it. It's old enough that Sanji is not even in the crew, and it feels more like a longer than usual filler episode of the East Blue saga than anything else, but I found it very charming, it had some good gags and it smacked me upside the head with 90s anime nostalgia.
Tumblr media
2) Clockwork Island Adventure -> 6,5/10
Just like the first movie, it's fine, nothing extraordinary and it had some kinda weird plot choices, but most of the gags and crew interactions are solid enough to make the whole experience enjoyable. Would love to see Luffy throw bombs at his friends more often in the future.
Tumblr media
3) Chopper's Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals -> 6/10
I know a lot of people hated this movie so I came into it expecting the worst, and instead it was a cute enough movie. Again, nothing special but all early movies suffer the curse of the One Piece world being still largely unknowable and having to make something up that makes sense within the context of this early stages. Chopper's characterization is Eh, but I think the movie was trying to see his very first interactions with the crew while still knowing little about him, and I can excuse it. I like most crew interactions and gags. This movie also features Sanji fighting a swordsman VS Zoro fighting a guy who uses kicks and I really loved it - what can I say, I'm biased, so sue me.
Tumblr media
4) Dead End Adventure -> 9/10
THIS ONE. This is one of best One Piece movies. You want a classic yet enticing seafaring adventure? You want all the good and fun aspects of the pre-timeskip crew? Do you want an interesting side character who kinda reminds you of All emo One Piece guys? Did you, just like me, miss when Nami and Robin used to be shit to children? THIS IS THE ONE. I don't wanna say much more to not ruin it for people who have yet to watch it, but I really missed when the crew had to find a way to work around fighting Logia type Devil Fruit users, and seeing it again sealed my absolute love for this movie.
Tumblr media
5) The Cursed Holy Sword -> 3/10
So this is another movie that I know a lot of the fanbase hates, but since the Chopper movie turned out to be okay, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt again. Instead, this movie just plainly sucks, and it's not because of the general plot, because of bad crew interactions, but because Zoro specifically is written like shit in here, and since the movie revolves around him, the movie is shit as well. My best way to resume this movie was "Zoro wouldn't fucking say that". Not only he drops the crew out of nowhere to follow a friend's shady request without questioning it, not only he fights Sanji and immediately wins despite their entire deal being that they're on the exact same level (also the fact that he breaks Sanji's arm got on my nerves massively), the thing that got on my nerves the most was honestly that the childhood friend was a new character and not like, some echo of Kuina, which emotionally would have made the movie have so much more sense for me.
This movie is written by a Zoro fan who doesn't get why Zoro is the great character that he is. Also the elements of mysticism in this movie are just damn weird for One Piece, but as I said for the Chopper movie, I can excuse it as it's still relatively early into the story and I can see why they thought magic would work as a plot element. It didn't.
(Still better than Stampede tho)
Tumblr media
6) Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island -> 10/10
This one is an insane and unsettling experience from start to finish. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about, if you haven't, go watch it now. I promise it's gonna be a wild fucking ride and that you're never gonna forget it for the rest of your life.
Tumblr media
7) One Piece The Movie: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle -> 7,5/10
Was this movie objectively bad? Yeah. Was this movie also objectively good? Yeah.
I'm gonna try to elaborate: this one is purely a comedy, with sparse elements from the previous movies taken and used for parody. The tits on the girls have the worst animation you've ever seen, but it works in favour of the comedy because, voluntarily or not, it seems to parody the One Piece anime itself. I swear the animation budget on this one was like 100 yen and the concept of hope. Despite all this, it works and it's funny as fuck. Zoro gets set on fire on this one. Also, apparently Chopper's VA was on maternity leave for this one and you can barely notice it.
8) Episode of Arabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates /
9) Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura -> ??/10
They are arc recap movies, an Alabasta arc recap and an AU version of the entire Drum arc set post-Water 7 respectively, and as such, I don't intend to watch them, so I'm skipping them ✌️ if I eventually decide to give them a try, I'll come back and add them to the post.
Tumblr media
10) One Piece Film: Strong World -> 8,5/10
A huge favourite of mine since I was a kid. This movie came out around the same time as when I read One Piece the first time and I remember loving it then and I'm happy to say I still love it as an adult. The outfits are amazing, the villains are amazing and the plot was damn good. Yes, this movie has Nami as the damsel in distress (and some really bad and gratuituous ass-tits shots of her, but nothing worse than say, the anime itself), but I really liked how it's handled and the spotlight on her character is well handled for the most. It's a "crew as family" movie first and foremost, and you can really tell Oda himself took part writing this one.
12) One Piece Film: Z -> ??/10
So I'm gonna be honest here, I haven't watched this one either and I don't intend to because Nami gets aged down to a child as a major plot point and I don't trust whoever wrote it to handle it normally. If anyone gives me a good motivation to watch it I will, but until then, I refuse to.
Tumblr media
13) One Piece Film: Gold -> 8/10
When my girlfriend and I started watching the movies again, we were really skeptical about all post-timeskip movies, and I'm glad to say Gold proved us wrong. I love this damn movie: it's a really good experience for long time fans, but it can also be shared with friends who barely know/never got into the show. The villain is so damn compelling, and the original character (Nami's blatant ex-girlfriend) is fun and interesting.
What else can I say? It's a Las Vegas heist movie. It's flashy, it's fun, all the outfits are fucking amazing, and most importantly, Zoro is the damsel in distress in this one. I can't suggest it enough to people.
(Also Sabo makes a cameo in here by using a Firefist, and both of us for a solid second thought Ace was gonna descend from the heavens to fight instead of the most logical answer, because we're both idiots.)
Tumblr media
14) One Piece: Stampede -> 1,5/10
Fuck this movie and fuck whoever liked it. This is nothing but fanservice garbage and I hope whoever wrote it is in jail. It exists as proof that good animation and good voice acting and a solid cast cannot make a good movie by themselves. The main villain is the most boring, uninteresting piece of trash in the universe. This movie was made just to animate cool fights for fanservice, and it didn't do even that well. I cannot believe they wasted Luffy's Gear 4: Snakeman like that, I cannot forgive wasting my favourite Luffy fight form for a moment and THEN decide to solve the movie final fight with a fucking genkidama. Fuck this movie. Didn't even have the guts to have a proper Hancock fight scene.
The only reason is gets a little more than a 1 as a rating is because having so many damn characters in the movie appear at random accidentally turned it into a fucking comedy. Towards the end I was half-ready for either Gol D. Roger's corpse or Goku to show up. Maybe even Naruto or the Jump Force. Kurapika was in this one to me.
Tumblr media
15) One Piece Film: Red -> 7,5/10
We conclude with a good one, and a musical on top of it all. I really liked this movie, I think Uta was a well written new character and I can't deny I cried a bit towards the end of it. This movie has still a lot of fanservice, but in my opinion it's much more tasteful and tolerable, and I would be lying if the hype of every character cameo didn't get to me, especially with Brulèe and Katakuri, I have such a soft spot for the Charlotte offsprings.
Ado is a really good singer and a lot of the songs are really nice to listen to, I can't deny I currently have more than half the songs in this movie among my spotify favourites. The occasional usage of CGI is Eh, but aside from it this movie has damn good animations as well.
What this movie lacks, and it's really less of a Red specific problem and more of a general post-timeskip One Piece issue, is crew interactions. While a lot of early One Piece movies are kinda trash, it's the crew interactions that have always captured me about the story, and I'm willing to forgive even the worst plotline if it means I get to see those fucked up kids have fun and be all together. It got to a point that the amount of characters in the story takes time away from the main crew, and considering this was the first movie with Jinbei as a crewmate, it was a damn shame that this fact almost wasn't used. Still, I liked Red! I just hope the next movie that will inevitably come out is a crew-focused one, on the same wavelength as Gold. I'm kinda sick of constantly seeing Law.

I've rewatched WoT S02E06 three times now, and once again I find myself hoping beyond hope that we get a better ending with the Seanchan at the end of the show than what RJ/BS managed with the books.
Like, I get the "little in life is black or white, we exist in the greys" bit that's routinely pushed, and the narrative exploration of the politics of privilege and how the majority of a society can grow to tolerate and appreciate the subjugation of others and the horrors their government inflict if it means their own lives benefit. I get the spotlighting themes of Law vs Justice and Order vs Peace they bring out. I get that. I do think both authors really had a tendency to stumble when writing towards those aims, and it often came across as minimizing the evil of the Seanchan. There are things in life worse than death, and I never did see the Seanchan as any better (and often saw them as worse) than the Dark One's forces. By the end of the series, the dark one's imprisoned again, and the Seanchan are reasonably well equipped to eventually conquer the world within a few generations (and iirc we do get glimpses of that future through Aviendha). The only other alternative would be if Shara only let a trickle of their forces to the final battle, and had enough of a channeler army to pose a threat, and they honestly wouldn't be any better. Shit's seriously fucked.
And I have little doubt that not too long after that conquering (or perhaps in the later stages of it), some desperate people will bore into the Dark One's prison again and release him in exchange for the power to defeat the Seanchan. And I honestly wouldn't blame them (and the Dark One probably worked to build that force over the centuries as a plan B if all else fails), and it may just be the right thing so that the Seanchan society can die off, and hopefully when the Dark is defeated once again, there won't be the threat of a looming incomprehensibly evil society ready to take over.
Like, I don't need a kittens and rainbows happy ending in the show, it wouldn't fit the series, but I do want one where the threat of the Seanchan is seriously considered and where there's some glimmer of hope for a better turning of the wheel. Throughout the series, I always considered them on par with the Dark One as the "big bad", if not the sneakily primary one, since they're more 'digestible' as the more human face of evil, but still no less evil than the Dark One and its forces. And it's a big reason why Sanderson's books kind of fell flat for me and often undermined the tension they tried to build in sections related to them, because the threat of the Seanchan really wasn't addressed well, at least not IMO.
It's probably because RJ planned another book series featuring Mat that would potentially explore the deconstruction of Seanchan society and the political intrigue and philosophical issues involved with changing the core principles of a society and the elements of imperialism/colonialism involved in that, but we're never getting that story, so can we please just ensure the show ends with a decisive L for the Seanchan? Please let them reap the consequences of their own actions for goddamned once, at least to some extent to where there's meaningful hope for a better future.
Or maybe just have Semirhage completely eliminate all Seanchan leadership and capability to enslave channelers during her time in the Seanchan mainland, and publicly collars a few sul'dam before killing them to break public faith in that whole system. Like, screw the civil war nonsense, just cast them into utter chaos, left to question everything they believed in. That way, by the end of the show, there may be less narrative impact to the truce, but it'd make for a more hopeful ending given the slim likelihood of the Seanchan culture and principles lasting long after the end.
Like, I don't care all that much how it happens, only that it does happen. The writers have a chance to make their own mark in a good way, and if the series lasts that long, I hope that they take it. (And also maybe just omit the Shaido abduction arc entirely, it doesn't need to happen and they wouldn't have the runtime on screen to justify that conclusion.)

ive been thinking about top nonstop for the past 24 hours and i can't help but wonder what his arc will actually look like
we're introduced to him in episode 1 as the top-tier. he's cool and confident, he's rich and hot and gets everything he wants and knows the answers to hard trivia quetions and charismatic as hell.
as the series goes on though we're introduced to other parts of him as well, that he has insomnia and has a hard time sleeping alone because he's scared of dying in his sleep alone and unloved, he won't/can't stick up for himself in various situations, he's pretty lonely, etc. he also hooks up with boston because of insecurity that mew is being genuine with him.
these things don't really negate the traits he's introduced with, he's still confident and cocky but post top/boston reveal it stops feeling cool and charismatic and starts seeming a bit desperate, and it doesn't get him whatever he wants in any given scenario anymore. I'd also say that compared to his introduction to the friendgroup, having the answers to the triva questions (i.e knowing the right things to say), following mew finding out about him having sex with boston we often see him speechless, or not speaking up for himself, especially when it comes to mew. it feels like since episode 6 at least, his smirk has been replaced with those sad puppy eyes.
now i'm one of those people that watches the show and thinks top did genuinely fall for mew and is genuine in his attempts to win him back, so i think it's interesting that the more love i see behind his actions, the less mew does.
I'd say the biggest effect on top's character is his relationship with mew/ mew's arc, because of how he agrees to change his lifestyle but also because of how he is framed. like in episode 2 top jumps in the lake to help cheum and mew notes it down as passing one of his boyfriend tests and when top jumps in to help mew in episode 9, its not received negatively but it doesn't but top immediately back in mew's good graces (actually i don't think we get mews thoughts on it at all cause he had just passed out but wtv). similarly top taking care of mew after his lasik surgery vs at the halloween party. i'd imagine that if top's interaction with mew's moms had happened pre episode 6 top would have gotten top marks from mew instead of being met with annoyance. theres probably many more instances like these but i'm starting to lose the point of this post the more i go on. (one last point is in episode 9 top is about to take some sleeping pills and decides instead to seak out human company, which could be just a way to introduce boeing to the story but i still think about it in terms of mew telling to to stop doing drugs, different drugs i know, in exchange for affection...anyway). we've seen the ways top has started to change but i don't think we've gotten as strong a sense as to where his character will go from here.
with mew we see him start out as the table holder, as the guy whose never been in a relationship but has a very clear image in his head of what it has to be like and when he finds someone who passes his tests and enters a relationship he thinks is perfect he ends up feeling betrayed and heartbroken. then we see mew lose his sense of self, enter his bad boy winning the idgaf war era and also what it takes for him to get out of it and start to come to terms with how he feels and why. we've seen who mew was introduced to us as, how he broke out of that mold, and where he may go next
boston was the hunter, who didn't do relationships because of all the drama. he becomes friends with benefits with nick and breaks his rule and starts to develop some feelings and it ultimately does lead to a lot of drama, mostly at the expense of his friendships. it seems tho that moving forward boston may re-evaluate his stance of relationships, not in favor of changing how he is necessarily but the value he places on other people and how he treats them.
ray is introduced to us the drunkard and guy with an unrequited crush. i personally will say ray is a bit different from these other characters because i think all of us ray enthusiasts clocked what layed beneath his surface almost immediately but nevertheless, he starts out as the guy who drinks too much when he goes out and gets called a burden by his friends for it, then we find out about his mother drinking herself to death, about his past suicide attempt because he feels unlovable and like he'll always be a burden, but we also see him try to move on with sand, to open up even, then get immediately roped back into his negative emotions in episode 6 when he self sabotages because self fulfilling prophecy, and we see things start to fall apart for him in episode 7/8 but pick back up in episode 9 with the prediction being the rest of his arc will revolve around dealing with his addiction and the impact that will have on his life.
i lost the plot of this post so bad someone please make coherent thoughts about this character cause clearly i can't. genuinely don't know what the point of this was supposed to be....

Happy STS! What's the most nuanced relationship you've written so far?
Happy STS!
if anyone asks I knew what nuanced meant when i got this..
I debated for a while whether to talk about Dylan and Logan or Leo and Jaxon and I decided on Jax and Leo (and elliot sort of) since the other one is a bit spoilery
i am going to ramble i'm sorry in advance
So aside from the obvious flower symbolism, I use a lot of color symbolism for the characters as well. which I hardly ever talk about. Leo's is red, Jaxon's is blue. So now I have my legally obligated Red Themed Character vs Blue Themed character as well as Elliot's color being purple.
Forget me not is divided into three parts, Leo is part one, Jaxon is part two, and Elliot is part three. So now it's red + blue = purple.
dahlia and rosemary don't have the same sort of symbolism like that lmao. that's mostly because I didn't piece it together until a few weeks ago
While Jaxon's theme color is blue, his canonical favorite color is yellow. Leo's is still red. This makes orange, Sam's color. Jax's flower is a (blue specifically) zinnia, Leo's is a black rose. Blue + black would be a sort of navy blue color, for Ryan
Because the foundation of Jax and Leo's friendship was always Leo's brothers. Leo is looking for them when the two meet, Jaxon finds Elliot, Leo finds Sam and Ryan. Almost all of Jaxon's interactions in part two revolve around the triplets- his first scene in part two is with Elliot, the next chapter is with Sam, and chapters 17 and 18 are with Ryan. The chapters he spends with Ryan he also has a scene with Leo. Every chapter with Leo and one of their brothers, Jaxon is either in it or he's mentioned. So the triplets are important to their relationship together etc etc
I actually didn't realize that they started fighting IN forget me not during the last 5 chapters until I needed to reference something the other day. Jaxon is in charge of Elliot for a few hours and when he loses track of him Elliot runs away Lily finds him Leo gets mad at him. (originally jaxon was trying to lose elliot on purpose, leo was going to guess it, and was going to spend dahlia trying to prove it, which was the original reason for jax pushing her)
When Elliot """dies""" at the end (fakeout death #1) is when they start to Actually fight. Leo's mad at Jaxon for letting Elliot outside in the first place, and because he gets back to normal Very quickly (a lie) Jaxon on the other hand isn't mad at Leo, he mostly wants to give her space to calm down and Stop Yelling at Him tm, except unfortunately they're both very easy to provoke. That's a main personality trait for Leo and it's hinted at to be a character trait for Jaxon (mostly in chapter 17 when he almost breaks a carnival game because the clown makes fun of him and when he yells at the kids who pushed Ryan into the lake, it's also mentioned by Logan that he got in fights on his sibling's behalf often) so when Leo starts an argument, Jaxon Will argue back. I kept most of their early arguments vague to give the big one more impact. Because of how close they were in forget me not, they know exactly how to annoy the other in dahlia
The big fight in question is at the end of chapter two, in which Leo does her whole "idk how to handle this situation so I'm out of here bye idiots" because her fatal flaw is that she's chronically unreliable and Will leave and Jax is obviously like "excuse me wtf you can't just. do that" because HIS fatal flaw is that he's loyal and will Not leave and so they fight in the garden (which is sort of important because that's where dylan and cass met and arranged for the groups to meet in the first place) (and i couldn't have them fight in the library. the librarian would get mad) and Leo has him in terms of physical strength so she leaves at the end of it, with Ryan, who was watching
That was April 2019, they don't meet up again until June 2020, so about a full year and two months later. That part where Dylan kidnaps a comatose child and preforms necromancy on him and then they, Ryan, and Ryan's cat get possessed. In Leo's house where she lives. Leo calls Logan in a very "will you please come pick up your kid they are biting me" manner so the others go back to meet up with Leo who is miraculously not possessed (she would win in a fight between herself and three 12 year olds)
Leo and Jaxon's friendship in that particular arc is "I don't want to get possessed and YOU don't want to get possessed so let's briefly not kill each other" Kai and Marcy peace the fuck out of there very fast, Logan is taken out by Dylan first because, then Lily is gotten by Dylan, and Cass by Elliot (something something dylan only attacked their siblings but that's a post for another day) and so then all that's left is Leo, Jaxon, and Sam
Leo gets cornered by Cass and Lily, and Jaxon. leaves. He takes Sam and runs and then Sam is like "hey asshole maybe DON'T do that???" so Jax feels bad and goes back for Leo and then when he gets back to where he left Sam, Sam is gone.
So NOW Leo's mad because ONE he just left her to get mauled to death and TWO now she lost Sam in a building full of possessed children Out For Blood. Jaxon is still mad about the first fight. They go up to the roof because that's the closest area to where Jaxon left Sam and he might've hidden up there.
Halfway up the stairs, they start arguing again. Jaxon's upset because Leo is talking about the others like they're dead and she's being very dismissive about it, and wasn't what she meant but it was how he took it. Leo gets defensive, and now Jax is Going For the Kill. Physical fight Leo wins because she's just stronger than him and is 17 and he's like 15 but in terms of their magic, Leo isn't as good at long range attacks with fire, but Jaxon is better at long range attacks with electricity, so he wins the second one. heavy quotations there lol. what ACTUALLY wins is the force of gravity. Leo loses the fight with Being Alive
and then there's more in rosemary for them but since I haven't finished writing this i don't know what I'll end up taking out yet

Thoughts on Benil vs Charles this weekend?
Historically, Do Bronx is more like a guy who beats Beneil than Beneel is like a guy who beats Do Bronx.
Dariush rarely ever loses large sections of fights. In the 4 fights I have seen him lose, he was basically winning all of them before being caught with something dynamic (not the Hernandez fight but that was quick). He ends up making a momentarily bad judgement against a dynamic, often deadly opponent and ends up getting caught. Do Bronx can 100% do that. He is by far the most dynamic finisher Dariush will have ever fought and Dariush's recent run of opponents is lacking anyone with a similar style/dynamic finishing sills. Like I like Gamrot and CDF but they are not guys who are going to win fights all at once. That is something we have seen Charles do though. He'll strategically lose exchanges, often times getting hurt, while also taking small wins (body work, getting reads, etc) to build to quick finishes.
That said, Dariush has something guys like Poirier and Gaethje didn't - a complete wrestle and grappling game. He will not less Oliveira rest should he knock him down. He'll climb into guard and make Do Bronx work. Something that seemed to cause Oliveira some mental energy when he faced Makhachev. Also, Dariush is a super well conditioned freak. Guys consistently break themselves trying to push him, like Gamrot did. If Oliveira tries to push his typical 100 mph pace on Dariush, it's not like we haven't seen Oliveira get hurt trying before. And while we've see Dariush hurt (and finished) a bunch, we've also seen that his new willingness to just swang and bang as granted him confidence and seemingly more durability. If Dariush does manage to hurt Oliveira and doesn't let him rest while playing guard, could this fight look like every other fight where Oliveira becomes physically overwhelmed because his pace is under insanity?
I don't think Dariush will be able to catch Oliveira coming in, which is how a lot of his knocks outs and knock downs come from. I just haven't seen the same level of counter punching footwork that it took from Islam to do so against Do Bronx. Could be wrong (I was wrong about Makhachev) but still. I think Charles will be content with straight kicks up the middle until he feels he can get to clinch range. Dariush is probably going to be the one pushing forward, which he's more than capable of doing. Guys have had big success against Oliveira when they try to force him back - southpaws with big power who can be punishing to people who leaves their heads up like Poirier. But we also haven't seen Dariush fight a fighter with Oliveira's frame since who? Chiesa? And that was the Chiesa who didn't even have a functional kickboxing game.
It's easily one of the best fights in MMA. I'd say the 2nd best match up on paper the UFC has made this year behind Mak-Volk. One of the most interesting things about this fight is that we have seen them both hurt and stopped in multiple ways. Ways both guys are completely capable of exploiting. I'll probably lean Do Bronx just because I like his tools from the outset a bit more - I'm really excited to see what happens if these two tie up in space. But nothing would shock me in this one.

Young and free vs adult and life
The two pairings in Moonlight Chicken couldn't be more different and it's why especially Jim and Li Ming clash from time to time. But it's not just a young love vs a mature love, there are clear differences in character within the couples. They are so diverse and it hits close to home when we have an outgoing person paired up with someone more quiet.
Mature love
Jim and Wen are obviously the adults here and they both come from intense past relationships. They have felt deep feelings before, they know what love feels like and they are not each other's first love. These two characters carry a certain nostalgia since they have lived a life the other doesn't know about and in the way they tell each other stories, it seems like they wanna ask "why haven't I met you sooner". They could have easily been each other's first love but they aren't. Instead, they are marked by old mistakes and decisions, they are mature and a bit sadder than the young people that surround them. They know what suffocating situations feel like and don't want to repeat those and don't want the other to feel it again. This fear alone holds them back and it's what differs WinJim from HeartLiMing and it's why they didn't have their kiss yet. There are too many mental struggles to just go with the flow.
It often seems like Wen is there waiting for Jim but sometimes, he holds himself back as well since the whole Alan situation doesn't help him feel free from any past. He let go of Alan in a last act but still, there's so much that has been shared and even if he may be head over heels with Jim, he doesn't eagerly throw himself at him either. He holds back as well since love is thrilling and scary at this point.
Jim's backstory is just a pure tragedy and I am still shocked but we shouldn't forget it's not just him grieving, Wen grieves as well. Yes, Wen didn't lose someone physically but when a relationship is over, it's part of your past and memories and he was with Alan for five years, so of course, he's grieving that relationship. There are many what if's in death and break-ups. It's what makes WinJim adults.
We just see them deal with it in different ways. Wen thinks as much as Jim does but he refuses to lose his spark. He still loves life with all the problems that come with it while also hating what time did to him. Jim is just really struggling to keep his spark alive and at some point he killed it. He's miserable and copes with it in a different way while Wen shows him to have fun while life doesn't work out. It's two very different characters clashing and blooming. But still, they are not together yet because the past is still there and they may feel like they are betraying it once they move on.
Young love
HeartLiMing on the other hand are just two teenagers in love basically, though their situation is complicated as well. They have their differences but they both want to break free. They don't want to live the life their families assigned to them and try out other things they only get cold answers to. It's not that they are carefree because like Li Ming said, they are old enough to understand certain things and take responsibility. At some point, teenagers understand the world very much so, to a point you can't tell them what to do - they won't listen wholeheartedly.
Heart and Li Ming want to know the world - even if that world either means outside the house or a different continent. They share the excitement about first experiences and they are both rebellious. Li Ming doesn't want Jim to stop him, hates how his "poor life" should define what he is going to end up doing later on. Heart wants to live like any other kid - maybe with more protection but still - he wants to have the same opportunities given by his parents.
They are two very wild and young spirits and in the end they know everything and nothing. They still cry when they fought with someone. They are still enamored by starts. They still play with water.
And they're still different from each other because Heart is quiet until he finds someone who gets him. Li Ming is just bright colors and gets excited easily while Heart has to warm up first - though it doesn't take him that long. Heart holds back, not because of his parents, but because of his inability to hear the world. He is marked by life already whilst Li Ming isn't - or I should say he refuses to be. Heart accepts things while Li Ming doesn't and one is braver than the other but that's where they meet.

Swindling a worse position with Falinks
austraz (2106) vs. thethirstysimp (2255)
Guts Heracross
SG Tera Ground Revavroom (useful defensively)
SD Leavanny (no webs—sad!)
Specs Golduck
CB Baxcalibur
LO No Retreat Falinks
I was sure this was losing. LO is bad on lastmons and I think I was imprecise in the early game. But it's better to be lucky in the late game.
Lead Heracross vs. Persian. I have to respect Aerial Ace. Reva. Fake Out, so it's Silk Scarf, which is annoying. I greed and SG, which was a mistake. Great Tusk comes out. If it doesn't have Ice Spinner I always go Leavanny. Shuffling brings out Heracross to tank an Avalanche for a free Knock Off but I greed again and CC into a Trevenant reveal. I've thrown Heracross away at this point so I trade it for a Knock Off.
Was this imprecise? I'm not sure. Heracross was high-value, but this team wants to punch holes with Golduck to force a Bax/Falinks endgame. Maybe that'll look like CB Ice Shard to clean up after a No Retreat sweep, or maybe it'll look like trading Bax for damage and tempo, but I'm not sure where Heracross fits into it. Heracross is better, though; maybe I could've brought Falinks in on a switch as an early-game breaker and saved Heracross for a sweep? Falinks has LO, which is terrible lategame - LO lastmons end up 20% short of a win far too often for my liking. (To get to an endgame that's still contested, you need a near-equal position, and near-equal positions are the kinds most likely to be decided by small amounts of damage.) Was it worth it?
If I hadn't greeded on Great Tusk, I'd have gotten about 30% in exchange for LO damage... but if my opponent hadn't had an answer to SG Reva I'd have been winning on turn 2. I'd still have had to switch out, since Tera Ground can't tank EQ: it still does ~53-63%. I don't think 30% for 10% makes that much of a difference.
KO into Trevenant would've been nice but who goes into Trevenant on Heracross? That's a very confident CC predict, Guts is guaranteed to have Knock Off, and Freezai would knock. Here I realized I'd blundered into a worse position.
But worse positions happen. I trade Heracross for Knock Off into Harvest Trevenant. Harvest is strong. It's not something to give up lightly. But what are the options? Chimecho and Trevenant can't come in on Knock Off, Persian, Avalugg, and Cacturne can't come in on CC, and Great Tusk is slower and get two-shot. Giving up Cacturne would be understandable, but then what?
More shuffling. Avalugg recovers to full on a switch—I hope that doesn't matter later. I make a play and bring Golduck in on a switch. I have to break Persian. I Specs Hydro into a Cacturne reveal. Alas!
Chimecho is annoying. It outspeeds Falinks and I don't have Tera Dark. I don't miss any Gunk Shots, but I had to go for the 80%s. A full team reveal is a concession, but overall my position is worse, and a Bax/Falinks endgame looks like the least bad option. I sac Golduck for the 2v4.
It's losing given correct play, but everyone's worse in endgames, myself included. Falinks loses to Persian unless it can set up, so I have to trade it for Bax. I'd have tried harder to avoid the speed tie endgame if not for the threat of Tera Dark.
Turn 32: The speed tie arrives. If I win it, I live a Psychic, set up, break Chimecho with Iron Head, and go for the flinch vs. Sturdy. If I lose it, I lose immediately to Psychic—but my opponent doesn't know that, since I could Tera Dark. It's a 50% and then a 30%, but after the bad start I'm not sure what else I could've done. I think if I'd played Heracross better I'd have been able to break Persian, use it as a breaker, and maybe even save it for the lategame after dealing with Tera Fairy Chimecho.

Hello, can i ask for a secnario or a headcannon for naruko (female version of naruto) x male water bender reader who can bloodbend, who was isekai'd to the narutoverse? And the reader show's naruko their bloodbending in a mission. oh and female sasuke x firebender male reader headcannon or scenario who can lightning bend, and show sasuki the reader lightning bending after sasuki say the reader is lying oh and the reader show sasuki that they can redirect lightning too.
As much as I wanted to write this with the entire Naruto-verse being gender-bent, I had to cave to the original names for everyone (except Naruki and Sasuki) for my sanity. Just bullet point story plus head canons until I can work on the novelization on AO3 (and similar fanfic sites) later. Not sure how often I'll be able to update that part of the project, but it will be written with the Naruto-verse gender-bent.

Naurki x Issekai Waterbender M!Reader
The way you meet is by falling nearby shortly after Team Kakashi is formed and given the mission to rescue Gaara.
However, everyone is highly suspicious of you from the get-go.
Even after you try explaining that you're a waterbender and a healer, they don't fully believe you and Tsunade keeps you with her until further notice.
You are 100% put through your paces as a healer and deemed by Tsunade to be rather advanced for your age.
Sakura just thinks of you as a talented version of Naruki (and is lowkey jealous of your skills) but given your slightly more chill side most accept you as part of the Village until you can either find a way home or decide something else
No one really believes you, they think you come from the Land of Steel, maybe a small village of only Water Jutsu users nearby.
Everyone is weirded out by the fact that you don't need to perform hand signs.
Yes, Kakashi has tried (several times) to copy your 'justu' but to no avail... and no, you can't teach anyone how you're waterbending
Naruki is the first attempt to befriend you, given that the other option is Sai...
You are assigned to Team Kakashi despite this leading to a large team because Tsunade doesn't know whether you or Sai will remain on the final team due to your being a healer vs how Sai is with Sakura and Naruki.
But you manage to help smooth things over nicely... with one of the few aggressive things you'll ever say (don't judge someone you don't know personally)
When Yamato suggests leaving Sakura behind, you insist that you could stay and help heal her then catch up. But Yamato is equally stubborn (and demanding) about not leaving the only two healers behind making the argument that the moving party will need one healer.
The mission still goes according to plan, except for the retrieve Sasuki part...
When the team returns to the village, You go to comfort Naruki.
Instead of asking about Sasuki, you tell her about your life, your best friend, the weight of being somewhere so foreign to yourself, and the difficulty of the choices you'll have to make if there even is a way for you to get home.
This is when Naruki realizes her feelings toward you are stronger than friendship and this deepens fast with you helping Naruki with training.
However, it aggravates Kakashi to no end since he can't copy your waterbending (no, Kakashi never lets this go because he is certain you're using a jutsu... just figuring out how you're guarding it so well...)
Between the training and you constantly breaking up fights between Naruki and Sai, Naruki falls pretty fast
Naruki is the one who ends up asking you out (after a few months of training and a few failed attempts at spying on you)
Though, her idea of a date is going to get ramen... and she didn't expressly say it was a romantic date...
So you end up thinking of it as a friend thing, until you two go for a walk around the village and have a heart to heart and actually talk through what you're both feeling
It isn't an instant "we're dating" after that, but you and Naruki do talk much more often.
Sakura thinks she's meddling and playing matchmaker for Naruki... until Sakura says something directly to you
Sakura's jaw drops when you mention how you and Naruki are taking things slow instead of rushing head first into anything serious
The first time Kakashi pryed into extra abilities of yours, you mentioned being able to blood bend but never actually used it save for dire medical procedures
When time came to use it in combat, no one looked at you the same. To them, it was like watching a chill pet suddenly attack someone
Naruki was beyond worried about you using that on Sasuki and practically begged you not to
You managed to calm her down, promising to only use it as a method of capture and in a way that wouldn't hurt
It wasn't until you were extremely comfortable with your new life, happily dating Naruki, and trying to not let her get into the politics that you even met back up with your friend (the other insert below)
Though it was only because you'd followed Saukra, being able to bend the KO poison out before it could take effect
You didn't outright fight with your friend, but you did try to question him extensively to figure out what happened.
Unfortunately the situation surrounding that particular reunion was cut short as he ran off with Sasuki...

You didn't so much land in front of Sasuki... you landed on her
She and the rest of Team Hebi/Taka were just leaving Nekobaa when you dropped in
You didn't so much land in front of Sasuki... you landed on her
She and the rest of Team Hebi/Taka were just leaving Nekobaa when you dropped in
After making sure Sasuki was okay, you introduced yourself and tried to ask questions... Sasuki was cold and indifferent to the point that she didn't even bother answering or care that you're following them
It comes down to Karin and Suigetsu to explain anything... Karin wants you gone, Suigetsu doesn't care much but loves the drama your presence brings
Juugo is the most neutral to you, but also is the most comfortable around you since you act a lot like Sasuki
This gets under Sasuki's skin in a weird way (denial of feelings)
Takes slow burn romance to a whole new level as Sasuki is far more resistant to even talking to you for longer than it takes to bark an order or ask a simple question about abilities
She never believes you about the lightening bending, much less being able to redirect a natural lightening bolt
When you show her, she gets more pissed... treating you like a rival as you try to get closer
The first time you manage to make her smile is when Sasuki lets you talk 'at' her over things that aren't related to the missions and goals
While it takes a while to find Itachi, you manage to at least befriend Sasuki in this time... not that she will admit to it
After the fight, you swoop in to rescue Sasuki but you barely catch up to the strange masked person calling themselves Madara
Sasuki sorta listens to you when you voice your opinion about how off everything sounds
But eventually you just have to follow along to keep Sasuki safe (you fell first but Sasuki fell much harder)
You spend a lot of time late into the evening just talking with Sasuki about everything going on, trying to get her to confront her feelings over what she did
It takes you opening up about your life and your friend before she starts talking about her own past
During the trip to hunting Danzo, Sasuki started cozing up to you and won't deny it... very subtly just acting like a couple instead of solidifying the relationship
