FUSHIGURO MEGUMI

once you send fushiguro the text confirming you’ve tested positive, he’s facetiming you immediately.

a deep crease forms in between his brows and his lips twist into a frown when you pick up.

he asks if you’re okay and you have to assure him that you’re fine and you’ll just have to quarantine until you recover.

it’s clear from fushiguro’s expression that he dislikes the idea of you quarantining by yourself, but he knows that it’s important that you do until you’re no longer sick.

his friends can pick up that fushiguro is worried about you. he’s quieter than usual around them and spends more time attached to his phone.

nobara’s probably the one to tell him that he shouldn’t worry too much, you’re going to be fine.

and although it’s blunt and fushiguro tosses an empty look her way, it does alleviate his worries the slightest bit.

he texts you everyday, checking in on your status.

he’ll give you little updates as to what he’s doing throughout the day.

he appreciates it when you do the same and attach pictures to your text messages as well.

that way he knows that you’re alive despite feeling like shit.

GOJO SATORU

tbh if you test positive for covid, there is no way that gojo isn’t also positive considering how he hangs off of you like a leech all of the time.

when you both receive your results, gojo’s immediate reaction is to happily proclaim how you’re stuck with him now.

his smile doesn’t dim when you send a glare his way and roll your eyes.

you two quarantine together. despite the fact that you frequently act exasperated with gojo, you’re glad that you’re not alone.

gojo gets whiny when he’s ill so if your symptoms are less severe than his, you’re going to have to step up and take care of him.

but if you’re the one feeling worse off, gojo will shut up for once and take care of you.

actually i take that back, gojo doesn’t know what it means to shut up.

but he absolutely hates seeing you ill because you’re not as playful anymore and you don’t respond to his quips the way you usually would.

he still makes jokes and he’s his usual loud-mouthed self, but he’s softer and more gentle when taking care of you.

he’s super clingy and will not let go of you even if you protest that you’re both sick.

he’ll respond that if you’re both sick, it’s fine because neither of you have to worry about spreading it to the other.

you just have to relent and accept that gojo’s a clingy whiny baby when he’s ill, but he’s your clingy whiny baby.

ITADORI YUUJI

my darling itadori is a himbo.

you’ll have to wait for a reaction because his brain is buffering and trying to process what you’ve said.

once it sinks in, he is instantly going to try and fuss over you.

like he’ll try to approach you and you have to back away and be like no!!!

such a pouty baby when he realizes that you’ll have to quarantine alone.

he’ll text you constantly and facetime you nearly every hour.

he doesn’t want you to feel alone since he can’t be with you. and he also misses you a lot.

will try to convince you that it’s okay for him to quarantine with you since sukuna wouldn’t let him get sick.

he’s shot down by everyone, including sukuna, who pops in to say that he’d gladly allow itadori to get sick.

it’s unnerving for the others to see itadori so down.

normally when he gets into these moods, it’s easy for him to plaster on a smile and act like he’s okay, but he doesn’t have the energy for that when you’re the one who’s not doing well.

nanami will be the one who will pull itadori aside and tell him that you’re going to be fine. “you believe that they’re strong, do you not?”

and of course itadori believes you are, you’re one of the strongest people he knows.

so after talking with nanami, itadori will feel a lot better.

yes, he’s still worried about you and sad that he can’t see you at the moment, but he knows that you’re going to be okay.

NANAMI KENTO

you text him that you’ve been notified you’ve tested positive and nanami is calling you as soon as the text message says delivered, despite the fact he’s still at work.

right away nanami is questioning how you’re feeling and if you’re okay.

once nanami has ensured that you are, in fact, okay given the circumstances, he’s lecturing you.

telling you that you should’ve exercised more caution when leaving the house, that you should’ve invested in a better mask, etc.

let him lecture you for a bit, he’s just concerned about your health.

and honestly it doesn’t come off as him chastising you, he’s just airing out all of his concerns and thinking about what extra precautions you could’ve taken that would’ve prevented you from being in this position.

after he’s done with his lecture, he’ll then ask if you have everything you need for quarantining. if not, nanami will leave work right then and there to pick it up for you.

even if you try to convince him that you’ll be fine without that item, nanami is still going to get it for you. he’ll leave it on your doorstep for you and then leave.

as much as he wants to turn around and take care of you while you’re ill, he knows that will only result in him contracting the virus as well.

he calls you whenever he has a break from work.

he’s checking in to make sure you’re eating and staying hydrated, and taking care of yourself overall.

it’s endearing to listen to him rattle off his check-list for what you need to do.

through the receiver, you can hear the staticky voice that could only belong to gojo in the background saying hello.

nanami ends the call soon after, saying a quick i love you before muttering about bothersome shamans.

NOBARA KUGISAKI

nobara is going to be PISSED that you’re sick.

you text her that you tested positive for covid, and you bet your ass that nobara’s facetiming you right away.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU TESTED POSITIVE? HAVEN’T YOU BEEN CAREFUL?”

don’t bother trying to argue with her right now.

let her get it all out of her system.

she’s just aggressive because she cares for you greatly.

and genuinely wonders how you managed to contract the virus.

everyone knows that you tested positive because nobara doesn’t fail to mention how you’re a damned idiot for getting sick.

but if anyone agrees with nobara, she’s glaring at them. she’s the only one who can call you dumb, nobody else can.

she expects hourly updates of how you’re doing. will stop whatever she’s doing if you call or facetime her.

if you’re really feeling unwell when you call her, nobara’s voice gets really soft. she gently chastises you and tells you to get some rest and that she’ll call you again later.

if anybody calls her out on it, nobara promptly tells them to piss off.

she makes you a get well soon basket and drops it off at your door.

it’s so so so sweet.

she includes a fluffy blanket, some of your favorite snacks and drinks, and one of her sweatshirts (that she knows you like to wear).

she facetimes you at the end of everyday and asks how you’re feeling before proceeding to tell you about some stupid shit that itadori did.

DX update

So you may remember that I’ve been self-isolating for COVID-19 type symptoms. I’ve been looking after confirmed patients (albeit the mildly affected ones who are wardable), so it’s pretty likely this is the real deal, even thuogh it’s too late to test me, now. I’m doing OK - this is not a scary Boris-style update. I just thought since I haven’t spoken much that I should let you all know that I’m doing OK. My symptoms are mostly better - the myalgia and headaches have mostly died down, though they were pretty annoying at their worst. I described it as feeling like an Ent - waking up in the afternoon was a pain because you just didn’t want to get out of bed if it made you feel sore and creaky. I only got up and about because I didn’t want a DVT. The abdominal symptoms are bearable but still nigglingly present. I can’t wait for my tummy to stop feeling achey and upset - but since I have IBS I’m used to that enough that it’s no biggie. I’m not feverish any more. I feel less SOB, though I only felt mildly so at times - like you’re a bit more out of puff than usual. The cough is mostly better, but sometimes it kicks off again pretty annoyingly. I’ve walked out of this without my sense of smell, but that’s likely to come back, eventually. If this is all I have to sacrifice during this pandemic, then I’m lucky. I feel generally less shitty - I was feeling pretty sorry for myself at the beginning of the week but I feel much more myself, now. I’m still probably really tired - I haven’t had a chance to test my stamina since I got ill because all I’m allowed to do is stay in my room. But I have a feeling that when I go back to work I’m going to feel really wiped. What’s it like having likely coronavirus? In my case, like the flu. Shitty, but not life-threateningly so. And yet, the thing they don’t warn you about is how it’ll play on your mind - knowing that you might be one of the unlucky ones to get really sick. And knowing that you have to try your best not to infect anyone. One of my dear friends is also going through it, and the fear is real. The worst thing is that usually when you’re ill people want to come round and make you feel better, but when you’re likely to have coronavirus that’s usually the worst thing that can happen. Unfortunately, you still have all the same instincts to seek love and reassurance that you usually have when you are sick - so you know that you should stay alone, but you might still crave being taken care of, or at least kept company. Because the people we love make us feel better.

Review: 2/10 stars. I would not recommend getting coronavirus. 2 stars because it scores you a few days off work, but you have to stay at home and you’ll probably feel miserable. I’ve been trapped in a flat I’m not fond of (It’s OK but not exactly home) for a week, even though the weather is nice and I’d love to go outside. Though fortunately I’m very well supplied with food and medicine and entertainment. I’ve been talking daily with family, the Guy and my friends, all of whom have done their best to entertain me and make me take care of myself. I’ve been sleeping a lot. A lot. I haven’t really had the energy to do anything but sleep and play games, TBH. When I’ve dragged myself out of bed to video chat with loved ones or take part in activities like playing games, or a virtual pub quiz with his friends, I’ve recuperated by zonking out the rest of the time. I might look quite functional at a distance, but that’s only because I’ve been sleeping almost all the rest of the time. My family call me every day to make sure I’m alive - they see the stories of nurses in their 30s suddenly dying, and it’s very real to them. I feel bad for them - if it was my kid sick with coronavirus I’d probably be scared, too. But I can’t do anything to take the worries away, when none of us know what the long term sequelae might be. I am glad they didn’t tell my relatives until I was much better - I really don’t want my entire extended social circle to think I’m dying, and there’s really no need for everyone to stress over me. My siblings have been encouraging my Animal Crossing obsession. It’s not th only game I’ve been playing in isolation, but it’s something that’s been easy to play even when I feel pretty rotten. It happened to come out at just the right time to make me feel better, and that’s pretty lucky. My friends check in every day - they reminded me that I won our sweepstake on ‘who catches coronavirus first’ - sadly there is no prize unless you count myalgia as a win. We spend the days sharing useful information about coronavirus, but also just trying to keep each other sane. Another of my friends is sick, and she seems to have gone down a bit worse than I have, so I hope she gets well soon. Colleagues are going down in their droves, according to our sickness reporting group, but I don’t know how unwell most of them are. I hope they are doing OK. I haven’t managed to catch up with everyone I care about yet, because messaging gets kind of overwhelming when you don’t feel great. I worry about a lot of people, but I can’t keep up with everyone right now, so I’ve had to take my time and conserve my energy. Still, I’ve been checking in with as many friends as I can, and so far almost everyone is doing OK. I’m hoping to keep connected with as many of them as I can, and already planning things to do with them. The Guy checks up on how I’m feeling daily. He’s much more zen about things, and his approach is always “If I can’t change it, I should try not to stress about it”. Which means he took our separation better than me, at least when I was feeling sick. I think that’s partly because whilst he hopes this may be over shortly, I know it’s going to be a long haul. Though he does have to tell me to take it easy and look after myself every day so I guess he’s not stress free XD I know this must be stressful for him, too but he can’t change the risks I’m facing. That said, he’s more the quiet, practical sort, anyway. So rather than moping, he suggests playing games or watching things together and invites me to whatever he’s doing with his friends - he did before, whenever I was around, but now that everything’s online it’s easier to be there. Now that his friends have transferred to roll20 under the lockdown, he’s invited me to join their DnD campaign because he knows how much I miss DnD - and him. It’s funny how little things can make a big difference, when they are all you have to look forward to. I haven’t been looking forward to my days off, at all because I no longer had stuff to do - but he and I try to book activities on weekend days so it still feels special. My friends are a lot busier than his (because medics) so we haven’t done as much though we talk often, but I’m grateful that his friends have basically adopted me. As a left over from my friendless days I always feel a bit awkward joining a group or making friends but they’ve been very welcoming and that makes me happy because I know it makes him happy. At first I felt like an impostor in all their group chats (guys, have you arrived in a relationship when you’re in nearly all the group chats? I’m pretty sure that’s a milestone or something), but I’m gradually accepting that they genuinely don’t mind me being there. Which is nice. They mean a lot to him, so I respect them and want to be a good friend, and I genuinely like them too.

I’m looking forward to going back to work. I’m not sure I’m 100% over this - I’m fine from a rules point of view, I’m just not 100% better. But I have to try and see how I get on. I need to be occupied and useful, because otherwise I’m just going to stress and sleep all day and feel mildly guilty about being sick. Which I’ve been told I should not be feeling, but there it is. We’ll see how things go.

Samurai Love Ballad Party Part 11 - Sarutobi Sasuke Route

Not sure how I feel about the shadow routes especially with the new ninja heroine that is serving Nobunaga with her Mitsuba clan but we’ll see I guess… She’s lost the people in her village and is now thinking of listening to her friend Sasuke to get safety with the Takeda clan? Going with Sasuke first btw~ Lmao, I legit thought that mini Sasuke really was his son for a second, but he just adopted him lol. Hmm and Sakuya is her childhood friend that’s with Nobunaga… The heroine thinks that Nobunaga has abandoned the Mitsuba clan and so now she plans to go check out whether she can trust the Takeda? Gotta agree with Sakuya then, she’s screwed if Nobunaga finds out she ditched to go to the Takeda😶 Took her a while to realise how rash it was for her to come here straight away without knowing anything…

Personally, I like Sakuya more, he’s her childhood friend and he’s promised that he’d always be on her side ever since they were kids, he may be rather cold now but I think it’s because he’s tied down by his duties? And it’s probably his way of protecting the heroine? Anyway, choosing between them is like choosing which philosophy to align with, the idea that ninjas are shadows, faithful to their duties and their masters no matter what, or the idea with Sasuke that ninjas can be in the light and choose their masters and live as they desire imo. Let’s just say, I like Sasuke’s perspective but like Sakuya’s personality? Haha. Well, Sasuke saved them when they were kids and were stuck after falling down somewhere so I guess the heroine choosing him is kinda like choosing their childhood hero~ I feel bad for rejecting Sakuya though, he came to enemy territory just for her and lied to Nobunaga that she got kidnapped to protect her…

It’s true that tending to the wounds of the people in Kai would give the heroine more insight on how people view Shingen, but yeah just as they are showing their faces to these people, it surprises me to see that Kansuke is showing his face to others since he always lived as a shadow that existed and died for Shingen without anyone knowing. And now they’ll know who she is when she uses that Dragon Tears medicine to save Sasuke who got poisoned in Shingen’s stead, a traitor ninja that used to be with Nobunaga but the only one who can make this medicine since her body is immune to the poison of one of the ingredients needed to make it. Awww so cute that she’s going undercover as Sasuke’s wife to Mikawa (I think) so they can get some info and lmao at mini Sasuke posing as their kid🤣 Kinda funny how this heroine is terrible at cooking though lol, at least her food is edible!

Why is Sasuke trying to assassinate Ieyasu? Why has the heroine been captured? Oh, Hanzo’s Lord is Ieyasu, so he wants to know why Sasuke is trying to kill him… Oh what, every ninja that serves the Tokugawa names themselves Hattori Hanzo?? How fascinating.. can’t pinpoint what exactly I feel is wrong but the way Sasuke made the heroine go poison Ieyasu just seemed so.. distasteful. I’m glad she didn’t do it and just gave him some sort of sleeping drug, it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to try and kill him though. Although Sasuke’s mad at her for not poisoning him when she had the opportunity, you have to admit that her not obeying his orders is a fault that lies with him, he couldn’t get her to agree with his way of doing things and just forced her to do something she didn’t want to do, so I’m not surprised things ended up this way. Nor am I surprised that the one she saw was actually a body double of Ieyasu, he was too nice and calm to be true🤣 Don’t know why she would think that Hanzo wouldn’t be suspicious of her though lol. Anyway, thankfully Saizo came in time to save them from Hanzo. Also, if Sasuke really agrees with ninjas choosing their own master etc then shouldn’t he understand that she’s not gonna just follow his orders without knowing anything?

I guess it’s understandable for Sasuke to see a bit of Shingen in the heroine since they both desire a safe world for the weak. I didn’t think Sasuke would actively go against Shingen saying that he won’t allow him to invade Mikawa considering how sick he is right now, I thought he’d be more understanding like Kansuke to see the big picture that it’s impossible for Shingen to not go to battle. Shingen can’t really afford to lay low and rest when he’s the head of the clan and the guy that everyone respects and follows, and considering the world they’re in, even if he wants to rest, I’m sure Nobunaga and Ieyasu won’t allow that. Umm what’s Sasuke whining about, wasn’t it already established that the Ieyasu she would have poisoned was a fake? Did he not hear it? Regardless though, what makes him think it’d really be that easy🙄 Don’t care that he’s “so concerned” about Shingen and that’s why he’s taking it out on her because he has no right to, he barely told her anything about the mission and just expects her to listen to him without even knowing why, I’m pretty sure in the beginning, he was a ninja that promoted freedom etc and not just following orders, it’s just ironic that he’s acting like this right now, eugh, so don’t like Sasuke.

At least Sasuke ended up apologising when he decided to be Shingen’s body double in battle since Shingen is too unwell to do anything. And thankfully he finally understands and has come to terms that she didn’t want to poison Ieyasu because that’s not what Shingen or he really wants. Not surprised the heroine ran back to Sasuke even though he arranged for her to go with the Uesugi safely. It’s good that the heroine used herself to block a gunshot to save Sasuke and thus get him to order their retreat since the battle had been lost already, but really, although the heroine says that people leave nothing when they die, I don’t think so, their deaths may not bring anything physical to people but it is definitely an event that will affect their hearts.

Anyway, the Takeda lost a lot of territory but at least they’re still alive, so they can just try and get Shingen to heal up and get their land back~ Lol, when Sasuke told the heroine he loved her and she was like “you do?!”, tbh, that was my reaction, like I know the story is ending so they gotta get together, but I honestly don’t feel like Sasuke likes her romantically. I feel like he treats her like a little sister to be protected most of the time, and now that she’s helped him realise that he had forgotten his own beliefs by thinking of Shingen’s beliefs as his own, it’s nice that he wants her to be beside him to remind him that he should be living for his own beliefs instead of someone else’s (even if they have the same beliefs), but I feel like he’s just grateful to her. I really don’t feel like they developed any love connection at all, especially when he was a jerk. And they kiss, the end!

Overall, honestly, I’m quite disappointed… As an introduction to the Shadow story, I feel like Sasuke was a very meh character, not very interesting, couldn’t see his ideals because heroine had to help him see them, and that kinda just made him very bland? There’s no setup as to why he was so dedicated to Shingen and he had forgotten his beliefs and forgotten himself in the process, and lol, if I missed that part then it probably didn’t make enough of an impression, so either way, Sasuke was boring and annoying at times lol. Also, I don’t really care for this new heroine, I definitely like the other one much more. This one kinda suffers from the same problem with Sasuke - boring. Don’t really see how she made such an impact on him either, because dang is the romance lacking in this. Legit, I think the story had like 5% romance, 95% inconsequential story that didn’t make me feel like Sasuke grew as a character, and the story isn’t very interesting either since I feel like it’s kinda all over place tbh. Anyway, disappointed, sigh.

I.... I spent so much time moving slowly, with my heart just beating strongly against my chest - AND I’M NOT EVEN THE ONE THAT WAS IN DIRECT DANGER I DID THAT ALL FOR NOTHING

Is it bad that I’m enjoying Shuichi getting progressively more flustered and angry as we go on?

it’s a guilty conscience - all those forbidden trysts are weighing on him -

Yeah, so he makes an interesting comment about making things a level playing field. Why? And it seems... a bit vague... like, is the other person that knows this information the culprit, or the mastermind?

“You’re just attacking all of my flaws today, aren’t you.”

Now onto Maki’s lab, where to no one’s surprise we find the black bags with the crossbows one short. Could it possibly be the one from the bathroom? MAN I’m glad it’s Shuichi here so we’re not stuck wondering where the other could possibly be like we have video game-convenient amnesia

And we’ve confirmed Himiko was seen bringing a black bag...

Ah, man, I’m beginning to wonder if both Himiko and Maki were roped into Kaito’s plan. Had Kaito really not fully gotten over his personal issues with Shuichi? Was he still a bit uncomfortable, or did he not want Shuichi to feel responsible if something went wrong?

Are you putting together the same pieces I am, Shuichi? We had an awfully convenient scene with Kaito and Maki here a few nights ago!

How many trips do you think it took Kaito to carry all those weapons to the gym. 8′D That’s what, two flights of stairs between the lab and the gym? Damn boy, guess your muscles haven’t atrophied after all!

Shuichi how in the world did you notice that discrepancy in liquid! It’s minuscule!

This... sounds like the perfect poison to tip a certain weapon’s arrows with. 8/

With that said, what was the poison bottle in the bathroom for, then? A red herring? But it was empty, right?

OH STRIKE-9 IS STRYCHNINE! omg that’s actually really good 8′D Bless you translators, you’ve done good work here.

So basically there’s one, maybe two poisons in play, and possibly antidotes in case something went awry? So... where’s the Strike-9 antidote? Or is there one?

I do like Shuichi making some of the connections for us, like him making the (most likely correct) assumption that for every poison we have, there should be an antidote. I feel like I haven’t shown my appreciation for his evidence and mystery-solving side recently - I will say this again, once, twice, twenty times, but when it comes to the technical bits of the mystery, he is fantastic. Motive and emotionally? Not so great at it - but I think that’s because that involves a lot more abstract thinking. This is where he really shines.

So this is where we differ - he’s talking about how all the evidence points to Kaito being dead, and Kokichi being alive. I think that’s true on a surface level, but there’s a few key places that I may be ahead of him on that lead to a split in our thinking.

Which brings me to this - I’m surprised he hasn’t made the connection about Kokichi not being the mastermind like I have - but I think that’s because I have an outsider’s perspective. Once that basic premise flips, things are going to get a whole lot more ambiguous!

I’m starting to wonder if she can act so calmly because he isn’t dead, and she knows it - but I’ll save those thoughts for the end.

So if they were both hit, then... was there a struggle? Kaito shot him, Kokichi managed to shoot him back? But if he was shot with two, and there was poison involved... would that be enough for Kaito to overcome him, illness and all?

Yeah, now that’s the point I’m stuck on - though I do have a few ideas, one of them involving him being too weak to show himself at this point. 8(

Oh Shuichi, you’ll get there soon. I feel like that’s going to be one of the first illusions we need to dispel going in.

And whoever it is.... is going to have a lot of explaining to do. I mean seriously, that’s the thing I’ve been wondering - a lot of the issues have been dependent on not knowing who is dead. How can they maintain that mystery during the trial? Monokuma isn’t going to break his own rule for this - attendance is mandatory!

Man, I know you and Shuichi weren’t as close as you and Kaito, but would you be willing to throw him away so easily? I guess it’s easier when you know there’s nothing left outside of this place, but...

With a murderous aura rolling off of her in waves, glowing blood-red eyes glittering under thick, dark bangs and venom lacing every word out of her mouth: “Don’t you see Shuichi? I am hope, personified.”

To think that after the last chapter’s events, Shuichi would be relying so strongly on his gut feeling, despite the evidence he collected pointing him in the opposite direction...

THEY’RE PURPLE? W... We’re really going in without knowing then?!

Alright, notes time!

Oh man, which section do I begin with. Important facts of the case? The basics? We don’t even have an established victim, so...

Alright, location. Top left of the sheet, just to start things off, I wrote down the three important areas: the exisal bay, the bathroom (and window), and the open area in the hallway. There were supplies taken from the two different labs, but the majority of the action happened in those places.

Suspects... well, ruling out Shuichi, there’s Himiko, Maki, Tsumugi, and K1-b0 - but there’s also Kokichi and Kaito, depending on who died! Man! That does throw things off quite a bit, doesn’t it?

Now for the victim... well. Okay. I divided them into two sections, each with a yes or no column.

Kaito Momota - Victim?

Yes

Shirt sleeve was visible from the press

He was sick/unwell - an easy target to kill, and on top of that -

If he died, he wouldn’t be considered a person by the press and would be crushed without a problem (aka a callback to the K1-b0 scene)

Shirt sleeve was conspicuous

He got confirmed help from the outside via crossbow, if not more

His illness he has nothing to lose - that could give him strength, and it could also push him to kill someone and become the blackened for the ‘greater good’. If he’s going to die anyway, why not?

Kokichi Ouma - Victim?

Yes

Can’t be found

Monokuma is back and the killing game with it

His clothes were hidden, a stark contrast to Kaito’s visible clothing in the press, and had bloodstains

The power cord was cut to hid the body’s identity, which is strange considering the shirt sleeve situation

He was in control of everything. How did he get overthrown?

Just like with Gonta, I’ve circled my decision... I think Kokichi may be dead after all. Shit.

Before I go on though, some more important evidence outside of the hangar include the exisals being powered down and Maki’s hammer being at the scene of where they were circling Monokuma and Himiko being spotted bringing a crossbow to Kaito. I really think this is all pointing to a rescue attempt being staged last night, without everyone’s knowledge!

Right, so to add onto the ‘Kokichi is probably the victim’ hypothesis, I need to establish that he isn’t the mastermind because a lot of the evidence hinges on that (aka Monokuma’s return and the killing game being back). Honestly, seeing the exisal formation around Monokuma really made me confident in that - it really just seemed like they were guarding him, not protecting. Actually, with that in mind, the real mastermind has a very strong reason to want him dead! They would definitely help with the escape/coup effort with that in mind!

So... if it went something like this...

Kaito hears about the escape plan from Shuichi. Fully convinced that Kokichi is the mastermind along with the others and suddenly with his own motivation to move as fast as he can because he doesn’t want the others to risk themselves against Kokichi and the exisals, he formulates his own plan. Maki visits him - he asks her to bring him a crossbow from her lab. Or... Himiko, maybe. Either way, a decision is made by either Kaito alone or Maki, if it’s through her, to have Himiko bring him the bag because Maki skulking around would immediately raise Kokichi’s suspicions.

I think the crossbow bolts were tinged with poison, though? Would that be with or without Kaito’s knowledge? I can see Maki maybe doing that without Kaito knowing - I don’t know if he would aim to kill, even if the crossbow to Kokichi’s back suggests otherwise. I’m sure his aim is pretty poor either way. Maki does seem very intent on ‘killing the mastermind’ and the fact that it’s Kokichi is almost convenient for her, honestly. Kaito certainly wouldn’t want her to kill again, but if she can do it through him she’d be able to kill Kokichi without giving Kaito a chance to stop her, as well as take on the responsibility for his death... I don’t know. I might need to workshop that. 8′D

Anyway, there was definitely a scuffle of some sort - that’s the only way they would both have wounds. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more tragic it’s all becoming - it’s really starting to seem like Kokichi was trying to stop the game in his own strange way, but couldn’t find a way to do it without building up this huge target on his back - and now, just when he’d managed to steal control of the whole thing, Kaito may have killed him while making the exact same mistake as Kaede...

Ah, right - so I think I’ve been waiting for this moment where Kaito gets pushed off the pedestal of hero, but I shouldn’t be surprised he would do it in a way where he would think he was doing the right thing before getting the rug pulled out underneath him - he would take on the role of the culprit, the embodiment of the ‘self-sacrificing hero’, and die thinking he saved everyone, or even worse, die knowing he fucked up in his attempts to be a hero for Maximum Despair. ffffff

Any last things... oh, no matter the situation with the poison, Maki was definitely involved in that. I’m sure she was the one who brought the antidote just in case Kaito got himself poisoned. I also think she was the most involved third party - I don’t think Kaito would have the strength to bring Kokichi to the press by himself, and I can see Maki tampering with all the evidence after the fact like the cord for the press and the marks on the panel outside. Maybe she did a lot of the work with one of the exisals? But in order for her to enter in the first place, she would have to have someone on the inside to open the shutter for her, and if Kaito had fought Kokichi by that point he’d be able to do it. It would explain why she’s acting so cagey right now - she’s covering for him! Though... if Monokuma is back, would she risk everyone dying to save him? Does she think he doesn’t have the power to enact the punishment if his controller is dead (even if they really aren’t?).

With that said... I still... think... Kaito is the culprit, despite Maki’s involvement. Maki seems desperate to help him survive this (pushing that Kaito’s the culprit, continuously bringing up Kokichi despite Monokuma being a functional AI), but Kaito knows there’s no time left for him, and the whole reason he took the role on of culprit in the first place was because he knew that. Is the reason he hasn’t shown up because he’s too weak to appear at this point? ooooh boy oh boy oh boy, this is... bad.... W-What are they going to do when they figure out Kokichi wasn’t the mastermind......

Anyway, man we’ll see how much is right and how much is wrong - will this be right on like my conclusion with Gonta, or tragically, hilariously wrong like my attempt at guessing Korekiyo’s motive? still better than the game’s

oh right but if Kaito is still alive this is still relevant

that theme of every character taking at least one second distinct role/alias/persona continues - I had said Kaito was wearing both his actual role of ‘Ultimate Astronaut’ and as well as his proclaimed role as ‘Hero’, but I think ‘Culprit’ will work just fine here.... 8′(

TBH I could go on like 11 different tangents about this comic I just-

Batman: Terror’s first half has a good premise that has a lot of room for like, interesting shit seriously, but like, the second half and all the fucking writing I just-

I think it’s a foregone conclusion that I’d cut out almost everything after Strange gets his sorry ass impaled that involves Selina and the bullies getting kidnapped and just cut to the fast flooding room with igniting gas pipes and have the rigging be Strange’s handiwork, not Jon’s. This would erase the weirdness of Strange somehow being alive for several days post-impalement, basically everything with Jon’s magical growing scythe, and allow more time for Jon to actually reasonably snap. It would also have the very likable angle of Jon, being the self-preservationist he is, actually helping Bruce escape instead of attacking him after Bruce says “Stop, I’m trying to get us out of here.” It would also make Jon getting pulled under by Strange all the more terrifying because you almost forget he’s there and suddenly Jon is pulled under and its revealed that Strange is still alive.

Cut basically everything involving Selina because those are generally THE worst parts and Jon calling Selina “pussycat” makes me so uncomfortable. Like the mention at the beginning and her helping Bruce save Jon, minus the dialogue, is fine, keep that, get rid of everything else.

What is that writing job on Jon? It’s weird and uncomfortable and the only good line is “I am a strong-willed, single-minded, Strange-hating machine” but even then it’s only good if you don’t take it seriously, at all. Everything he says and about half the shit he does is ooc and just, weird.

The art is just bad, all of it can go in the trash, hire someone competent with anatomy, and good at drawing.

Extend Strange’s manipulation of Jon, because it would be more reasonable for Jon, a PSYCHIATRIST, to have a hard time falling for Strange’s tricks on the outset.

Remove the hypnotism aspect, just keep it to manipulation. The hypnotism is sloppily done and has a lot of plot holes and like halfway through the entirety of the plot point drops out and is only mentioned one more time in passing near the end. When writing, apply the concept of Chekov’s gun. This is stated in a metaphor: Don’t put a gun on stage if it’s not going to go off. Don’t put an element into the plot if it’s not going to serve any real purpose. Strange could get Jon out through manipulation just as well as he could get Jon out through hypnotism, there is no use to it.

Strange just manipulating Jon could also have other points to make. There are ways you could go with this that could make Jon become more fearless because he overcame another fear, not that it was hypnotized out of fearing anything.

Similarly, Strange verbally abusing Jon is a little too short lived and poorly done if I’m gonna be honest. I’d extend it because the purpose of it is to make the readers feel that Jon’s retribution is justified, as it stands it isn’t. People are okay with Jon attacking Strange because Strange is a skeevy bastard, not because they think Jon is justified.

Jon’s recurring traits in the comics are usually a bitter, sarcastic attitude and a skill at manipulation that makes him good at both manipulating and recognizing when he’s being manipulated. Play with that, have Jon and Strange pit their egos against each other, a duel of wits as it were, and that way Strange winning could also be something brought up later, like as a point before Jon attacks Strange, when he realizes Strange has been using him this whole time. Again, using retribution correctly, and justifying it despite acknowledging its depravity. Jon tries to kill Strange for using him as a puppet and abusing him, that is justified in his mind because Strange disrespected both him and his autonomy, and this is something Batman recognizes.

I have no comment on the fucking manikin Strange dressed up as Catwoman. All I will say is I could see Strange doing that but it’s still really fucking skeevy and I did NOT need confirmation that he was using that thing as a sex doll. That makes it worse, it makes me feel bad for Jon.

Hey writers I know you don’t like giving Jon or Bruce anything relating to actual human emotions 50% of the time but here’s a thought: they’re fucking human beings. Jon is going to respond to being stopped by Batman with hostility in the heat of the moment, yes, but not because he’s angry at Batman for ruining his revenge, he’s going to be hostile because he’s stressed and afraid. People in hostage situations are hostile towards rescuers out of fear, especially when they’re already under a lot of stress. Jon’s been manipulated and abused on top of being held hostage, when Batman shows up his first thought is going to be fear that Batman is going to hurt him or return him to Arkham, not that Batman is here to save him or stop him from killing Strange. It’s a self-preservation instinct. I don’t care how angry with Strange Jon is or how stunted his fear response is, he’s going to be scared, even if it’s just subconsciously, because he’s a fucking hostage. You don’t just regard being held hostage as a blase thing if it’s never happened to you.

That fucking toupee needs to go, now, burn it.

Joker recognizing Strange through his disguise was great, but it was also one panel. Chekov’s gun guys, Chekov’s gun.

Hear me out on this: Instead of being lured to Crime Alley by Jon and Selina working in tandem and figuring things out from there, Bruce finds the mansion because he’s told Jon is missing, knows the most observant inmate at Arkham is Joker, goes and finds out Strange took Jon from Arkham, and finds Jon that way. This could even work like that one Gotham Adventures comic where Bruce goes to find Leland somewhere in Arkham and decides to ask Joker first.

What the fuck is Jon’s backstory? It’s a mess and doesn’t explain his sudden hot damn with the crazy. Year One explains, this does not.

BRUCE THAT IS NOT HOW YOU HANDLE AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSON.

Bruce is not THAT conflicted about being in love with Selina, please stop with the ridiculous manpain for like, 5 seconds writers, please, it’s really annoying.

Bruce also doesn’t look at Rogues like “this person would probably be a murderer.” He considers them unwell and in need of help, which they are.

Why isn’t Strange bleeding? He’s not bleeding. This is an actual problem. He was impaled he should be bleeding.

Reasonably, as Strange is holding Jon hostage, Jon would not have his costume on hand or the means to make one, the entire climax of the story should reasonably be done with Jon either in civvies or his Arkham uniform. This is just a nitpick but it bugged me.

That’s all I got. I think this comic is hilariously bad, but that doesn’t mean I think it should escape its due criticisms or couldn’t work in the slightest. There are story elements and plot points that could work. Strange holding Jon hostage with the intent of killing Batman is a premise that could work. However, there are several sloppy plot threads, characters are poorly motivated or straight-up not in character, and the art and writing is just messy, sloppy garbage.

It’s hilarious, but when one of the few Scarecrow-centered comics is known for being hilariously bad, I kinda just wanna
