The key word about programming is one: Patience. I cannot give you anymore, I'm not a wise expert about this thing, to begin, i don't know how to program with the Wii, all i can give you is some links, maybe it's not too much, maybe yes, i don't know, it depends on you whatever you like to start with this kind of thing, I can assure you that if you manage to hack the programs, and make them yours to alter, you'll have a good way in the programming scene, if you show potential here you'll obtain exp to manage incredible things in informatic computation too, so, try it!, it seems too hard, but after reading some of the content about this, it doesn't become too hard. Now, I'll give you some links, read carefully what it says, try to obtain all the information you can, and if you feel brave, try to experiment with your own Wii, until you reach a certain point, you can now alter the patterns the emulation programs has, and with that, you can reach anything with homebrews, if you want, you can create something better than Nintendont xd, of course, that's possible, quite hard, but possible, the Wii has so much capabilities for emulation systems, that the quantity of outdated emulators is a shame for what the Wii can offer, it's really a shame that much people doesn't care about emulation in videogame consoles because they have either Smarthphones or Computers, even though i love to play those games with a TV, i don't feel like playing in my monitor, even if my monitor has 24 or 26 Inches, it doesn't matter, I just want to play with my normal TV with my Chair. Ok, look, if you want to do something, you must study the lenguage of programming, How can you study this kind of thing?, well, you must start with certain programs for the Notepad, then put certain variables that the tutorials give,etc. To alter a certain function in a program, you need to know everything about the program, like the variables, the functions, how it works, whan it can do, of course, every program has limits, the Wii can handle certain limits to put for a program, so don't expect something impossible like an emulator of Xbox 360 for the Wii, that's impossible in almost every sense because the Wii can't handle that quantity of information. I'm quite interested in this kind of thread too, the Wii Homebrew can be a little bit complicated, but with a good start you will be handling all, okay, i'm not the expert when it comes to programming, but i know about a little interesting thing called LUA, LUA is the lenguage for programming homebrew, altering certain functions in some games,etc. ( Sorry for my bad english, i am japanese ( Pacheco is because i'm half-portuguese ). Can someone explain to me why does no one cares? We are in 2015 and some emulators don't get updates since 2010. Wii homebrew is not evolving at all, there are so much things that can be done but people just want to live in the past. But there ARE people out there who can and it really makes me mad that no one cares about this. If i could add this kind of support to emulators and homebrews, i would, but i can't. I'm really mad at everyone that CAN and WANT to do this, but just don't do it. Most of these emulators are based of emulators that were made for PC, which have full USB HID support. Everyone now knows it's possible, but why does NO ONE does anything with it? If someone decided to stop being a lazy ass and mod these emulators it would help ALOT of people. I've only seen ONE homebrew use this that is Nintendont.

Not PS3 controllers, i'm talking about normal USB controllers made for PCs to use in emulation. See, i have posted some time ago asking if modding emulators ( Such as Snes9xGX, WiiSX, Wii64, etc ) to work with USB controllers. Used proprietary Objective Development License (modified GPL). At power up only, when a fourscore is detected in port 1, fourscore mode is entered and ports 1 and 2 are used to read up to 4 NES controllers.įirst public version.

HELP BRAZILIAN READERS

so, in brazil, we have this gigant publisher called ‘galera record’ and and they publish most of the big titles and authors (here’s a list of some authors and books, but there are many more)

the problem begins with the absurd price they put on the books. it’s so expansive, most people can’t afford it. when they released koa (one year after the book was launched) it was cheaper to buy the original, hardcover, signed copy then the portuguese one. but then you say “okay, it’s expansive, but you’re paying for a high quality product, so it’s worth it” right? no.

here are some of the problems we have with this publisher:

1. the translations

i’m going to use a recent exemple, but you can find stuff like this in basically all their books.

they released the brazilian version of house of earth and blood, by sarah j maas this semester, and it was one of the most expected books of the year. they whitewashed ALL the non white characters. Hunt, Fury, Juniper, Isaiah... you name it, they whitewashed. it was absurd. all the fans ware so angry, we made it to the trends and they said that in the next edition they were going to fix it. but if you had already bought it, it’s your problem. you keep the racist copy or pay for the new one.

like i said, you can find things like this in most of their books. here we have Raphael from tmi (Cassie Clare) saying “i’m not gay. i’m not straight. i’m not interested.”, and they turned to “i’m not gay. I’m straight. i’m not interested.”

they literally changed his sexuality

and this is an old book, they never fixed. besides changing characters races, skin color and sexuality (among other absurd things), their books are poorly translated. wrong words, characters names spelled wrong, changes in the original texts that are not necessary or make sense

2. bad quality of the books

besides the poor translation, the books have a low quality. like, really low.

the paper they use it’s terrible and gets yellow with months (in the pictures, 1° one is books that i have for six years from other publishers and 2° have 3/4 years)

we’ve been complaining about this for YEARS, they aways say they will change the papers, but never do.

besides this we have other problems: books with missing chapters, books with the pages glued together, with whole pages missing, the bumps of the books not aligned, literally anything you can think about. and yet they put an absurd price no one can afford

3. lack of professionalism

this one is the most recent one. yesterday, the main editor of the publisher was “talking” against pirate books. i understand. it’s her job. but then she compared piracy with RAPE, RACISM AND MURDER and then made this joke, referring to a case that is running here in brazil, where a girl’s rapist was sentenced with “guilt rape”, witch is basically saying he didn’t meant to rape her. that’s not even legal and it’s so so so disgusting and wrong. we are still fighting to have justice brought to this case and this girl, and the main editor of one of the biggest publisher in the country had the nerve and lack of character to make a joke saying that reading in illegal epubs is “guilt piracy.”, when most people who read in illegal forms don’t have the money to buy books. we don’t have many libraries. it’s either read in epubs or don’t read at all. so besides having no compassion with all these peoples, she used an serious and disgusting issue as a joke.

that’s not the first time she’s involved in cases like this, and yet she was never fired or reprimanded. they just ignore it, because she’s the heir of the publisher, so i guess it’s okay she does this kind of thing

we are basically hostage of this publisher because it buys all the big titles and it’s either give them money or don’t read the books we love so much.

most of us cant read in english or cant afford to buy international copies, so if we want our favorites, we need to buy it from them. the reason for this thread is to ask you to help us bring attention to this. we are tired of the disrespect this is and we want authors to know who their selling their work to, and to know what is happening here. so please, tag the authors, publishers, managers ANYONE you can think of that will read this and be able to do something to help. please. we are so tired of having to deal with this, we just don’t know what to do.

Have you ever watched a movie in class/school that made you cry? Oh for sure. We had to watch It’s A Beautiful Life and I know I cried every single time I watched that movie, whether for school or on my own time.

What’s the earliest you could go to bed at night and feel okay about? I don’t really get this question. I feel like it would make more sense if it asked how early I’m willing to wake up in the morning...? Anyway, I don’t pay attention to the time I sleep at night. Sometimes I’ll pass out as early as midnight, and sometimes I’ll be up until 3; it doesn’t matter to me.

What is you favorite type of lunch meat? I’m not into those in general.

What time of the year do you dislike the most? The heat in April and May is just brutal and uncalled for. It gets so hot and disgustingly humid and most times the aircon can’t even do much to quell it.

Do you put ketchup on your scrambled eggs? Yeah, banana ketchup since that’s what we usually have a bottle of. Generally, I have banana ketchup with most of my breakfast dishes too.

What is your favorite color to wear? I don’t really have a favorite to wear those days mostly because I barely go out anyway and there’s been little need to update my closet.

Are you an overachiever? Seems like the type of question you should be asking my parents, not me haha. Personally, though, I’m fairly proud of what I’ve accomplished.

What physical feature do you wish you had (i.e. freckles, curly hair)? Maybe longer legs and smaller teeth, but I’m not exactly insecure about mine.

What fictional character (i.e. Bambi, Scarlette O'Hara) would you marry? Did you just raise the possibility of marrying a deer? Anyway...since I mentioned Two for the Road in the last survey, I’ll go with Mark from that movie. Seems like my type of partner.

How long have you gone without shaving (girls- legs, armpits; boys- faces)? With legs...around 2-3 weeks. Armpits, maybe about a week or so. Never more than a month for either.

What is the meanest thing you have ever said to someone else? For the most part I’ve always been cautious of what I say; writing, on the other hand...I’ve written stuff on my diary wherein I let out all my frustrations against my mom. I know they were mean because she cried over them – but that also entailed snooping through my stuff, so I’ve never felt bad about it. I meant those things as I wrote them because it was my safe space, and she violated that. That’s on her.

Did you ever go through a phase where you wrote bad poetry? I did, but I instantly realized it was bad so I stopped as soon as I began.

What is your favorite thing about your life? How everything seems to have fallen in its place these days. There’s really little to complain about and I’m grateful for that.

Does your mom know you do surveys? No. I’ve never had to raise it and I can’t see a situation where I would have to.

Have you ever had a serious injury? Yeah, I got a big wound from when I went snorkeling around a decade ago. I wasn’t provided flippers so when I was kicking to stay afloat I managed to hit the coral reefs underneath repeatedly, which majorly scraped and gashed my left foot until it was an open, bleeding mess. It was infected for weeks and I’m surprised it didn’t leave any kind of mark or scar.

What was the last thing you achieved? Handling a campaign for a major client successfully and getting good coverage and results for it.

Would you enjoy being famous? Probably, but I wish I had some sort of talent or skill that would propel me to popularity in the first place hahaha.

What’s under your bed? Some things I collected from past hobbies and interests, like all my old wrestling magazines.

Do you enjoy travelling? Love it.

Have you ever belonged to a club? If so, what was it? I mean I joined an org in college, which technically makes me a member for life. I’m not name-dropping but it’s one of the two journalism organizations in my alma mater.

What is your favorite possession? I treasure my BTS merch, I guess haha. Nobody is allowed to touch them or move them around without my permission. As often as my mom likes to barge in my room and touch my stuff, she seems to understand and doesn’t lay a finger on any of the merch either.

Have you ever felt like you were too nice and way too often overlooked? Sure. But it's never really mattered to me; it just feels nice to be nice and do nice things for people. It does feel nice to be thanked, but I don’t necessarily do it for the recognition.

What movies have tripped you out? I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Midsommar, Anomalisa, Under the Skin, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and The Killing of A Sacred Deer are a few of them.

Did you rollerblade as a kid? Do you still rollerblade? Yesssss, I even had a pair as a kid. I got into it because I loved to ice skate, but it turned out I wasn’t as good as gliding on the ground so I ultimately preferred ice skating. Anyway, no, I haven’t done rollerblading in years.

Would you ever settle into a relationship that wasn’t right for you? Do you know friends who are in relationships just so they have someone to sleep with at night? I did. I stayed because it’s where I felt safe and I didn’t know where else to go or what else to do outside of it.

Would you take a dirty picture of yourself for someone you are dating? Sure.

Do you use earplugs or a sleeping mask when you sleep? Nope. I find them more distracting than anything else, and they actually keep me from sleeping.

What summertime treats do you love? I don’t have any.

How picky are you when it comes to choosing who to kiss or not kiss? I am VERY picky. I have to be really interested in you. < Yeah, this sounds about right.

What do you hate most about moving? The last time we moved was in 2008...and I don’t really remember disliking any part of it. I was actually excited for us to have a home all to ourselves after living with extended family in a cramped house all my life.

What is one thing that pisses you off pretty much everyday? The weather.

Why do you think your most favorite film touches you so deeply? It’s a realistic take on love and I appreciate that it took its sweet time to highlight the ugly sides of love and marriage. Also, Audrey Hepburn taking her acting chops to the next level was just beautiful to watch. She was always a fantastic actress in all her movies, but I could tell her acting in Two for the Road had just a little bit more depth to it.

On March 31st (yeah I’m way late reporting this, sorry guys, I don’t really have an excuse) Savin gave us an update on the Oban Star Racers Bluray Project! He states that he’s currently negotiating with licensors in order to get more international dubs for the Bluray release. Originally only French, English, and Japanese were to be included, but many fans reached out to Savin about including dubs in other languages because that’s how they remembered watching the series as children.

Savin states that negotiations are slow, but that they are progressing. At this time it’s unknown what how many languages the Oban Bluray will include.

One of my favorite things is when my readers find out that I’ve legitimately only seen like uhhhh maybe ten minutes of Fuga Impossível and legitimately none of Chafaland

Like I wrote Red!!! after going through the recap thread that the twitter Roier English Updates guys did, and that was a 10 hour writing session- one sitting, “I’m Just Ken” in the background the whole time

And then I wrote Bad Romance with only that twitter thread and a basic basic basic basic understanding of f!Cell because I really don’t understand Portuguese, but the secret to writing him is to. Write q!Cellbit tbh, Cell is just a little bit more closed off.

OP/ED: This is going to be the most comprehensive analysis you will even get, regardless of what source of information you personally prefer. It is also to be my last major update, because it is THE update. What is coming, and this is not fearmongering, won't need any other future update. This update is going to cover the next 6 months, and while it is mainly about the evolution of the pandemic, it also touches the economic and social changes that are imminent. I will start with some good news...sort of. The situation is bad, but not as bad as it looks. I will start with Europe. We need to understand that the numbers that we see today in Europe (as the continent, not the Union) are pretty damn high, on paper. The testing in Europe is about 3 times higher now, then back in March and April, on average. If we would have tested in March in April as much as we do today, in theory, we would had 3 times the number of cases. For example, France had a peak of 4,500 cases (7 day average) in the Spring, and now they have a peak of 14,000 cases (7 day average). Theoretically, France, if would have tested 3 times more in the Spring, they would register 13,500 cases. Not a big difference, one might say, just looking at the numbers. One might say that France is basically in the same situation today, compared to Spring, if testing would be equal. Same can be said about almost any other country in Europe. But, we need to also know that back in the Spring, the virus was not as spread as it is today. So even if France would have tested in the Spring as much as they test today, we would have not register 13,500 cases, but much less then that. Another variable is that back in the Spring, most tests were done upon hospitalization, so the asymptomatic cases were barely on the radar. This means that today, even if we test more, and register more daily cases, we have much more asymptomatic cases then hospitalization cases. Compiling all the numbers, from testing capacity, number of cases, asymptomatic ratio, Europe today is on comparable levels to Europe at the peak of the Spring wave.This is good news, in the sense that today, we are on the same levels as Spring wave, and the real numbers today are not actually worse then the real numbers in the Spring. The official numbers are much worse, but we don't care about those numbers. We care about the real numbers. We don't know the real numbers. I don't know the real numbers. But my model kinda predicted, in acceptable margin errors, a lot of what happened in the last 9 months. I won't remind all of my model prediction that became true, because there are many, and you guys already know that pretty much what I said will happen, did happen. Some key predictions I made were the number of epicenters and the Summer resurgence in the U.S., the Brazil plateau and the start of European second wave with its evolution until mid-October. My intent, as always, is not to instill fear. My intent is, and always was, to present certain scenarios, and among those scenarios, which one is most likely to happen. It is all based on numbers and statistical data, and the projections that I made, while based on what we know, from official sources, are also based on my conclusions analyzing information that it is unrelated to the pandemic, mainly historical data, social media influence, political play, mass psychology, human reaction to reality, coping mechanisms, meteorological influences, traveling mentality, etc. etc. People kept me asking, in the Spring, about my mad max scenario. When will it happen, how will it happen, how bad it is going to be. Nowadays, almost nobody is asking me about mad max scenario. I don't know why, but probably because some think that it won't happen and others think that it will happen, so there is no point in keep asking. I have also stopped reminding about mad max scenario, not because it will or it will not happen, but because predicting it with accuracy, or partial accuracy, is impossible. Events that will happen in the future, that we cannot predict, will make a mad max scenario either improbable, or very probable. Now, onto the bad news. Or, actually, onto what is going to happen in the next 6 months. Back in the summer, we all knew that the situation will get bad, come fall. I always reminded the same, on my thread. As time passed, and I had more information to work with, I "shrank" this fall and winter, to a specific interval, mid-October, then later on to October 15th, 2020. This is not a date that I chose based on whatever zodiacal, celestial, or spiritual, historical or numerical mambo-jambo. This date, October 15th, is, as I said in the last weeks, the "make or break" date. If something big will happen in October 15th, or couple days before or after, it is just a coincidence. By October 15th, most people will start to realize that we are in big doodoo. Including governments. My intention was to have my update on October 15th, but things are already on a solid path, that is highly unlikely to change, that I can risk an update earlier then October 15th. What is going to happen in the next 6 months, is influenced, in no particular order, by the following factors : -political decision to avoid full lock-downs -the start of the cold season (especially less sunlight, temperature drop not as much important) in Northern Hemisphere. -disbelief in the virus -strong belief in conspiracy theories -inability of westerners to face bad times, and inability for behavioral changes. The above factors, without playing the blame game, are decisive in the evolution of the pandemic, are already at the point where a change is almost impossible, and if by the end of October, full lock-downs are not in place, we will see how a REAL pandemic looks like. The political decision to avoid full lock-down by end of October, because of westerners inability to face bad times and behavioral change, and the strong belief that this virus is part of a conspiracy, thus pressuring the politicians to avoid full lock-downs, not to mention the economic and social costs of full lock-downs, is already taken. There will be no full lock-downs by the end of this month. Everyone is playing now like in the Summer : close bars, open bars, close this, open this, mask up here, not mask up there, etc., without understanding that there are critical difference now, compared to Spring and Summer. It is hard for me to keep a continuity that its easy to understand, because so many things are interconnected and influence each other, thus adding a lot of complexity in this update. Anyway, the Spring wave was at the beginning of the pandemic (far less virus spread), it was at the end of low solar activity (we are now at the start), the March spikes, the led to full lock-downs, even counting for testing capacity, were much smaller then the spikes today. The summer time gave us the impression that we can control this, thus leading to wrongfully assume that the virus is not that bad. The society dropped their guard, the government stopped prepared for the winter. And this will cost us, a lot. This is what I expect to happen in Europe (the continent), by the end of this year, if full lock-downs are not in place by the end of October, pandemic wise : 7 million deaths (of ALL causes). The monthly deaths, of all causes, in Europe (the continent, except Russia and Turkey, which some are consider them part of Continental Europe) are around 525,000. This number is in normal conditions, aka, no wars, pandemics, other calamities and with a working healthcare system.If, again, IF, the current trend continues, and full lock-downs are not in place by the end of October, I expect around 25% of the European general population to contract the virus by end's year. About 5% of the above 25% (which translates into 1.25% o f the general population) will need ICU treatment, or they will die. Most hospitals ICUs, across Europe, will be full by November. By the end of October, about 5% of the general population will contract the virus, the rest of 20% will contract the virus after October. While most cases will benefit from ICU treatment this month, virtually everyone else in November in December, will not. Again, this IF full lock-downs are not in place by the end of October. 5% of 20% infected translates into 1% of the general population of Europe, which is about 750 million people. This means 7.5 million dead by end of 2020 from Covid...on top of the median 525,000 deaths in normal circumstances. Overall, we are looking at a potential 8 million dead, in Europe, if most hospitals ICUs are full...and they will be full by the end of October. Obviously, some of the sick WILL get ICU treatment, even if the ICUs are full. However, the difference will not be big. Another aspect is that we have certain treatments that will prevent many Covid sick people to be moved to ICUs. This will matter, quite a lot. In the end, if this will happen (and it is the worse case scenario), Europe will end up losing 0.8% of its population, or roughly 6 million people. It will probably be more, since except Germany, all other European countries are NOT prepared for a pandemic that is worse, yes, worse, then Spanish Flu. Would 6 million dead in Europe by end of 2020 lead to a collapse, both social and economic? The short answer is that it is highly probable. But not because 6 million dead people...but because how many SICK people will be, for 6 million of them to die.To get to 6 million dead by end of 2020, Europe will have to have around 40 million people sick people, and most of them unable to benefit from healthcare. Again, this is just numbers. Math. It cannot predict human reaction to such a catastrophe. And what it cannot predict is if we will only get to 20-25% infected people, or more...because it can easily be more. The longer full lock-downs are avoided, the more people will get infected, the faster hospitals will get full, and the more sick and dead we will have. The U.S. is 3 weeks behind Europe. What is in Europe now, it will be in the U.S. at the end of October. And this is where I think we are heading. Many times before I said that the worst case scenario I can see is the second wave being 3 times higher (and it points to this, the spikes are already 3 times higher, even if the current numbers are similar to peak of March-April), avoiding lock-downs in October, keeping the schools open through October, most people refusing to understand what we are facing (coping mechanism for the most part) and the virus adapting for younger hosts (because of schools being open), influencing negatively the symptoms of older hosts (adults over 40 and elderly). This is happening, right now. And if this continues for just another 3 weeks, we won't be able to reverse the trend...unless we full lock-down in November and keep the lock-downs all the way to April. This is not me trying to scare anyone. This is me trying to tell you what might happen, and what is most likely to happen. The economic and social impact of full lock-downs is going to be massive, to the point of the biggest depression in human history. But the cost of not doing it is going to be greater. We will still face the same economic losses, but the social impact of millions of dead, and tens of millions of sick, in the next 2 and a half months, could easily led to a collapse. Please prepare for 6 months. Hopefully it will be enough. I could have kept going with the update, adding excess death data from worst hit countries in the Spring, hospitalization data, ICU data from Summer in the U.S., from India or Russia...but those are just numbers that would still end up to the same conclusion : Without lock-downs, we could potentially lose up to 2% of the Northern Hemisphere population by March 2021. 2% is not much, but LIVING IT might be too much for the current world, the way we live, the way we are supplied with food, the overcrowding, the social explosions, etc., all factors that are so weak, and so balanced, that even a 2% loss of the population in 4-5 month (and 10%-12% sick, and unable to work, among them police, medical staff, power and sanitary staff, other essentials) could easily throw us in disarray. I hope it won't happen, because it will happen to all of us. Me included.

The Great Language Status Update

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, hasn’t it?

I’m very concerned with certificates at the moment. I know they don’t really mean much to us personally and that they don’t say much about our actual language skills, but I do think that having them is better than not having them and it’s very useful for my career to have some proof of my language skills. especially if I eventually choose to leave my country.

Portuguese

Level: Native language.

I regret ever saying I needed to write more. Now all I do is write all day, every day. I’ve also been reading more in my language, and that’s definitely a good thing.

Goals: Just writing better and speaking with a slightly more polished vocabulary, since the job demands it.

English

Level:C1-C2

I’m actively working towards getting a C2 certificate now. I need to work on my test-taking and some specific grammar issues. I think I can do it. I don’t think I’ll be able to do it perfectly, but I’m pretty confident I can pass. I’m taking the exam in May and if I pass that’s pretty much the end of my english studies. I’ll keep using the language obviously, but I just won’t be making an effort to study it, as it were. I’m not sure I’ve improved at all over the past year tbh, I’m pretty sure I’m at exactly the same level I was before. I do want to work on my legal english, though, especially since it’s going start playing a bigger role in my life and I just don’t know any legal terminology in english.

Goals:Passing the Cambrige English Proficiency Exam; Legal english

German

Level: C1

I’m a little disappointed in my german right now. I know I improved quite a bit last year - actually being in Germany obviously made a huge difference. However, I still haven’t been able to fix my chronic grammar issues and my vocabulary is much weaker than I hoped it would be by this point. My own laziness is largely to blame for this. That and the fact that I just have a really hard time studying german. It’s hard to find materials that get me to do the grammar practice I need without boring me, because the grammar problems come from so far back that I’d probably need to do a lot of B1 exercises to fix them. And I just can’t find the motivation to do it. I’m trying to read more, and more regularly in German too. I think that’ll probably help me more than anything else at this point. As with English, I’m also working on the legal aspects of the language, since it can be very useful at work.

Goals: Goethe Zertifikat C1; Legal German

French

Levl: B2(!!!)

I took a level test yesterday and they placed me at B2! They actually said I’d be ready to start preparing for the DELF B2 exam, which really surprised me. I knew the speaking part was ok, but I expected the wrtten part to be much, much worse, and as it turns out it actually wasn’t. I started worrying about French only recently, also for work-related reasons, and I really expected the results to be much worse than this. I have to work on pretty much everything here, but again, mostly grammar and writing, and legal terms. If there’s one common thread to the way I learn languages, it’s that I’m always much, much better at speaking than writing, and french is no exception to that rule.

Goals: DELF B2, I suppose! And legal french

Russian

Level: B1

I actually regressed a lot in Russian last year. I knew it was going to happen. A year without contact with the language at this stage pretty much always has negative consequences. It’s not as solid a B1 as it could be and I think I’m still at a stage where I might forget the language if I stop engaging with it for a while, which is not the case with English, German or French. I need to work a lot here, to make up for last year and also, again, to consolidate my grammar. I need to keep going to class no matter how tired I am, because if I leave it to myself ’m going to end up doing nothing at all. I know this is going to take a very long time to improve and I need to work on my vocabulary a lot too, so I’m stuck here for a while.

Goals: Consolidate, consolidate, consolidate, improve vocabulary

Castillian (Spanish)

Level:????

Castillian/Spanish is always the odd one out. It’s also the only one that only shows up in the english version of my CV, because I wouldn’t dare put it in the portuguese version. The only portuguese people who put Spanish in their CVs are people who either a) have formally studied Spanish or b) people who don’t know any other languages. It just looks a little...lazy to me, no offence to those who do it, but I don’t feel comfortable putting it next to all the toher languages I’ve seriously worked on. And to me, knowing as I do that I don’t actually know proper Spanish, just portuñol, it wouldn’t feel right to have it there. I can understand most of spoken Spanish, I can speak it the way a particularly illiterate spaniard might, and I can read most things. I can’t write a word. So of course I can’t say I know Castillian/Spanish. Would I like to work on it? Sure, but it’s low on my priority list. And to be completely honest, what spanish I do know is more than enough for another country (like, say, Germany), but nowhere near enough for either my own country or a Spanish speaking country. Which means I’d have to put a lot more effort into Spanish if I wanted to do something with it here, and right now I’d prefer to focus on the other languages.

Goals: None, really. Getting better eventually.

Mandarin

Level: None

Mandarin is the language I’m currently using to test duolingo and other language learning apps. Basically I want to do all of the stuff on those apps and find out if it helped at all once I start taking classes a few years from now. I can’t pretend I wouldn’t like to take Mandarin classes now, but at the moment it’s just not feasible. I have to start “finishing” the other languages before I can even consider seriously studying Mandarin. I’ll need a clearer mind and I won’t have that until I stop worrying about studing 3-4 other languages too.

Goals: Just have fun; try to understand to which extent language learning apps actually work

A comprehensive timeline of Cristiano Ronaldo’s sexual assault case

Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of sexual assault by Kathryn Mayorga, who has opened up a lawsuit against the soccer player stemming from a 2009 incident in Las Vegas. Mayorga’s attorney claims she was coerced into a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) shortly following the incident, and that the NDA should now be legally considered void.

Mayorga told her story to German outlet Der Spiegel on September 29 before filing a civil claim against Ronaldo, seeking to void the NDA she signed in 2010. The Las Vegas police department has also reopened its criminal investigation. Ronaldo and his attorneys have denied Mayorga and Der Spiegel’s claims.

This is a timeline of the important events in the story, from 2009 to present day.

June 13, 2009: Kathryn Mayorga reports rape to police, doesn’t identify Cristiano Ronaldo by name

Mayorga contacted Las Vegas police at 2:16 p.m. the afternoon following her assault. She told the dispatcher that she did not want to identify her assailant because he was a public figure. Police drove her to a local hospital, where she had a rape kit examination.

January 12, 2010: Ronaldo, Mayorga’s lawyers agree to terms of NDA

Mayorga, her attorney, and attorneys for Cristiano Ronaldo sign an out-of-court settlement. Both parties agree to not discuss the incident in a non-disclosure agreement, and Ronaldo’s team agrees to pay Mayorga $375,000. Ronaldo is not present at the signing of the agreement.

April 19, 2017: Der Spiegel publishes allegations against Ronaldo

Eight years later, Der Spiegel publishes its first report about the accusations of rape against Ronaldo.
