Opposite sides?

The final 15 is heartbreaking, but I realized that there was something about the end credits that really bothered me.

This is their natural state. It indicates that they are aligned, a team.

Aziraphale to Crowley’s right, and Crowley to Aziraphale’s left.

There are some scenes where they a face to face, but these can be viewed from all angles so are difficult to determine a “side.”

There are also a couple of scenes where Crowley moves around, alternating sides as he moves. You see this prominently in the Globe theater and during the sequence at the ice cream stand.

When they are having conversations but aren’t shown in the same shot through most of it, indicating some type of conflict. You see this in S1 in the bookshop (will we work together to stop the antichrist?), the bandstand scene in S1 is another,” (again, stopping the antichrist, but also choosing “our side”). In S2 Ep 1, there are a couple of lighter scenes that this occurs in (the coffee shop and the discussion in the back room of the bookshop) which revolves around deciding if they’ll work together to help Gabriel.

This is most prominent in the final 15 of S2. Aside from the kiss, they are never in the same shot. All examples are connected to being a team, working together, having an “our” side.

Their initial confessions (they want me to be Gabriel’s replacement vs let’s run off together becuase I would like to spend… hrrmmm) were more back of one’s head to and the other’s face, which was a bit disconcerting. But, at least, up until this point, they seemed more in balance. After this, it sauntered very quickly downwards.

Until we reached this point.

There was some foreshadowing throughout the season to warn us the ending might not be as happy as we hoped. Early episodes that revolve around Jim and the miracle (between the pub scene and the second part of the Job story). Look at Aziraphale and Crowley’s positions from the time Crowley leaves to gather Nina and Maggie for the “meeting.” They are out of their natural state almost every time, appearing on the wrong side when near each other.

Hopefully Season 3 sees these two back together, in their natural state.

Or perhaps the ending will show us that this is their new natural state. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to. #also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image

“Who?” Tim wasn’t the only one to startle, seeing as Bruce had practically froze, a downturn to his lips in a silent show of confusion. 

Damian scowled. “Are you deaf Drake? Grandmother is coming to Gotham to, quote, make sure I am being properly cared for.” None of them had known that Ras was with anyone actually. At least Tim was pretty sure that would have been in the files. 

“Oh?” Dick didn’t quite crouch to Damian’s height but it was a near thing. “She-” “He,” Damian corrected, interrupting him. They all exchanged a glance before Dick continued. 

“Is he coming to the Manor or…”

Tbh? I don't like Paul. I don't want Paul. I understand that Paul serves an important narrative function and that Paul is the best possible ending for Camilla and Palamedes given their situation, personalities, and relationship. However what I really want is for Camilla and Palamedes to attend the ATN wedding as two individual humans and for Pal to be a lightweight who loses his tie in the garden fountain after three drinks and for Camilla to do exactly one shot with the group, keep Gideon from ripping the sleeves off her dress shirt, and absolutely kill it at lawn games during cocktail hour. Since this scenario is a wild tonal mismatch for the series and also Palamedes was already dead, this was unlikely to ever happen. However Paul is the final nail in the coffin for the theoretical existence of this scene and I can't help but resent them for that
