Fic-to-Art #35: Sokka leads the charge into Ba Sing Se

Here's my monthly artwork! The prompt this time was a scene that excited the readers quite a bit, and it seems that Sokka's big campaign on Ba Sing Se was the idea everyone liked best! This isn't really the best rendition I could've hoped to do, but unfortunately time constraints didn't allow me to go much further. Hope it's good enough like this anyway!

I still don't particularly thrive in drawing animals, but we needed Foo-Foo in this artwork, haha. I hope he looks as cool as he should! As for Sokka and his cool helmet, I'm sorry, I have a hopeless case of forgetting-the-helmet-itis so I never seem to recall to put it on his head. Oops :'D

Anyway! I'm not even sure what else to say, haha. Hope you guys like some epic Sokka!

As many of my followers already know, I love some angsty, emo!Aemond, but I prefer badass, beast-mode Aemond. I honestly wish we got more of that in the book too!

I have reblogged posts about delulu Aemond and the new trailers (My uncle is a challenge I welcome, if he dares face me) and how cocky he sounds, but book Aemond is fed up and doesn't welcome the challenge - he goes to find it.

I have hopes for how Ewan will portray him in the second season but we all have thoughts about the writing. He can only work with what he is given. However, unless they truly draw this out for four to five seasons, my boy is going to look less capable than in the book.

I'm ready for him to be Prince Regent, show his fierce need to protect his family, and go full beast-mode. He might fall as a result of his hubris, but there is no doubt that this man loves his family deeply. I love Aemond as much as I love Daemon, but series-Aemond isn't set up to be a fair match to Daemon. Daemon's impetuousness balances the scales against Aemond's inexperience in the book. I don't think two seasons are enough to make that as believable in the series. We'll see what happens in season four, I guess.

“How dare you use your pheromones against me” You scream, throwing yourself at him, clawing at him. 

“I MAY BE AN OMEGA, BUT I’LL STILL KICK YOUR ASS” You added, Bakugou and you fought without quirks until you could feel yourself being dragged from him by a blur of red. You didn’t even have to look at the person to know who it was. 

“Kirishima let me go, LET ME GO” You shout, trying to wriggle your way out of his arms. 

“Calm down y/n, please this isn't the time or place for this.” He places you away from Bakugou and makes you look in his eyes. You nod and look around him, seeing all of your friends from UA, standing around. 

“What's going on y/n, please tell us.” Mina says as she takes a step forward. You look at Bakugou and see Midoriya trying to calm him down. 

“Well, it's a funny story actually, here i was just enjoying my day when a villain attacked the street, a lovely hero flew overhead attacking this villains and ignore the space they were in, now this hero had an explosion quirk and next thing you know the building I was under exploded and I had to activate my quirk, saving the civilians.” you say calmly and gesture to the area you came from. All heads turned to look, your quirk of air manipulation - force fields were currently holding massive boulders of concrete in the air and other heroes were pulling civilians from the broken building. 

“Holy shit y/n, are you still holding that up? Always knew you were a badass” Denki asks looking at you, asking for a highfive.  

“Yes Denki, I am, I had to train my hardest to keep up with you all this time” you smile at him, giving him a highfive.

“Too bad, you were good enough to stick around, tck” Bakugou says under his breath.

“Kacchen, that is so uncalled for.” Midoriya says, hitting him in the arm.

“You wanna say that louder” You take a step away from Kirishima and try to square up to Bakugou. 

“Mom, can I come out of the bubble now?” a little voice could be heard. You instantly switch to parent mode and turn to look at your son. 

“Of course, buddy I was just making sure it was safe, hence why I'm talking to these lovely heroes” you flick your hand and the protective bubble around your son disappears and he runs towards you. You pick him up, throw him in the air and catch him, causing him to giggle. 

“Hold on a minute, there's a little y/n, walking around and I didn’t know” Kirishima asks grinning at the child in your arms.

Meta Knight doesn't have Mouthful-mode in my particular AU- Combo-mode is more Sworn Partner-flavored which is I why I went with it. But also for some reason I literally cannot bring myself to draw Meta consuming automobiles and vending machines. Too wild of a concept for me! But if anyone reading this is capable of doing so, I welcome the possibility HAHA

I had to hold onto this ask for a while because you gave me some really good food for thought! As of now I don't have plans to swap any of them since they don't play a big part in the comic but if I get struck by divine inspiration, I'll have you to thank for putting the idea in my head!

Stubborn knight!! I think he's so used to being self-sufficient that he dislikes being "coddled" by others and prefers to take things into his own hands. This is actually something the comic will explore down the line! I've interpreted some other possible reasons why he's so stubborn about this but it will have to be revealed in the future ;)

Aww thank you!! I'm glad you like his design, I put plenty of love into it! Maybe this is a good excuse for me to share the page I designed him on and some of the backstory behind it:

The above were my very first Roleswap drawings back in April 2022! It was born purely out of my desire to see a badass Bandee boss fight and I had just finished the Forgotten Land game. I started at the top and ended up with the designs at the bottom right- with a few additional changes these became the final versions! I wanted him to have more of an Awoofy silhouette since I figured they're a great equivalent to Popstar's Waddle Dees!

An AU creation fun fact: I initially just swapped Bandee and Dedede! I drew the above that same month- this is supposed to be the cutscene before the Winter Horns boss where the big reveal happened! Kirby was P1 and Dedede was P2. I didn't even create Roleswap Elfilis yet!

But the more I explored the possibilities, the more roles I swapped. It took me like another month to actually have the Sworn Partners be the "playable" characters, shuffle the Beast Pack around, and finish the rest of the swaps.

That was a long-winded way of saying, thanks for liking Roleswap Bandee!! I owe the little Awoofy Dee a lot because without him I wouldn't be having a blast making this AU!!

Ahh thank you so very much!! Combo moves were so fun to make haha. I love some good teamwork.

And yes, I love writing their dynamic too! I figured if they already understood each other perfectly at the beginning of the story, it would be kinda boring. Don't get me wrong, they are already pretty close in the beginning- enough to tease and be prickly idiots with each other while still maintaining that respect between them! :P But they are going to have some nice opportunities to get to know each other better, build even more trust, and reach a deeper understanding~! <3

i usually try to accompany my hlvrai ramblings with a drawing because my dumb brain thinks my words/ideas on their own suck and have no value so i have to make them worth it with a drawing of some kind yadda yadda BUT i can’t draw fast enough to express all my ideas so i’m just gonna say fuck it and just dump some out here.

ok anyway this is about tommy. i see him as a secret badass kind of character. in my ver of hlvrai, it’s a virtual simulation that’s got the resonance cascade on a loop. the original goal of the simulation was to figure out the best way to handle the res-cas irl—except the real world got fucked and it doesn’t really matter anymore, but the simulation doesn’t know that. tommy is very much aware of the loops since his dad is gman and all and retains memories through the loops. his main job is to more closely oversee the events and make sure nothing gets too “broken.” but he’s kind of tired/bored of it honestly. on the outside he acts all bubbly and naive, but on the inside he’s secretly like “jesus christ these people are a mess. they could never survive out in the wild.” but like he doesn’t hate the team or anything. he just gets tired of their shit sometimes. during one loop he made an immortal dog that also retains memories through the loops so he has a companion other than his dad (who, let’s be honest, isn’t exactly around). this particular loop that hlvrai takes place in is the most buckwild of all the loops for various reasons that includes benrey learning how to mess with files and remove the final boss, so tommy is a little thrown off, but it’s exciting! he really gets into being a secret little shit. like he does actually know how to handle a gun but pretends to be clumsy with it for the laughs because he knows nobody gets seriously injured if he “accidentally” shoots them. when his dad stops time to talk to gordon, tommy just pretends to be frozen too, but barely puts effort in—gordon just too distracted by gman to notice tommy scratching his nose in the background. i’d like to think that the part where tommy follows forzen down the pit and disappears with him, he takes that moment to drop the facade and corner forzen and be like “who the fuck are you and why haven’t you been in any other loop.” and forzen’s like “oh god what the hell you’re terrifying i thought you wanted a beyblade???” and the part where the coomer clones are attacking is one of the rare moments that tommy goes serious mode in combat. just silent and deadly. i love the secret badass trope ok aughhh. ok i’m done sorry for the dump.

Okay, I'm going to request a pairing too, because I really love your writing about all the characters! Please ignore my blog-theme, I'm genuinely interested in any pairing, whatever you see fit.

Here goes: I'm a 5'8" tall woman with dark blonde hair in a pixie cut and green eyes. I am told that I'm very open and friendly to strangers, but I still always feel a little awkward having to maintain a conversation with people I'm not super comfortable with yet. But when I'm with my closest friends, I let out my nerdy side, I love rambling about my interests and hobbies, I laugh at the stupidest (is that even a word?) jokes and love to have deep, meaningful, often political discussions with my people. I think I'm the mom friend of my group because I am the only one without depression and I don't like drinking (much) alcohol XD

Hobbies: I've been dancing ballet for 16 (holy shit I'm feeling old) years and have taken up archery last year. I love being in nature and go hiking for example, but that clashes violenty with my love for reading, video games and watching TV. Apart from that I like creative stuff (drawing, painting, crocheting). Right now I'm trying to turn my hobby sewing into a career as a costume designer. I love music but my taste is weird (mostly metal and rock, but occasionally Ed Sheeran and nerdy/ soundtrack stuff too).

I love cats, because i live with one, and (baby) goats, but every animal is great (yes even spiders and snakes, have you seen their little puppy faces??).

I really don't like ignorant people, old white men in politics who think they have the right to decide my future and pineapples.

You have such vast hobbies and parts about you, and I feel like Wyll would LOVE to learn everything he can from you (and about you!) He also hates old white men in politics, and isn't afraid to get into intense conversations (smarts is sexy to him I KNOW IT), so being able to have a partner who partakes in that means a lot to him. He relieves you a bit of your mom-friend duties since he's also so responsible, but appreciates the care and sensitivity you take with him when you are mom-friend-mode. Plus, he loves the new outfits you create for him - he proudly wears them around Baldur's Gate, and loves doing outdoor activities with you (archery?! badass). He isn't a fan of metal, so he definitely lets you enjoy that yourself, but does love seeing all of your creative pursuits around your home.

The thing about Salineas being Tortuga made me think of lil teen Mermista having to fight like 50 contenders to the throne after her father died

And lil' Glimmer in Bright Moon hearing about it and going "Moooom, can i marry the sea princess?"

Oh shit, I love that!

And Angella is all... "Honey, I don't think..." but lil' Glimmer is all "MARRY BADASS PIRATE-PRINCESS NOW!" and it kinda IS expected of Angella to pay the new queen of Salineas a royal visit and it WOULD be strange to not include the crown princess of Brightmoon, so full of misgivings she allow Glimmer to tag along, and Glimmer is in full PrincessProm-mode in her prettiest dress and she has made Mermista a necklace of seashells and has made a drawing of how badass they will look together on the throne...

...and after like a million years of royal protocol bullshit they are finally let into the throne room and Glimmer is suddenly shy, but she still walks up to the Very Cool girl sitting with her trident on the throne of Salineas, and she manage to hand over her gifts with trembling hands and mumble her proposal, that suddenly doesn't sounds as cool as when she practiced it with Bow, and Mermista glances at the drawing and the necklace, looks Glimmer in the eyes and says...

...'whatever'.

And Glimmer just DIES of heartbrake and shame and rejection and locks herself into her room and refuse to come out for the rest of the trip.

(Fortunately, it turns out that she overhears some Salinean Bad Guys plot against the new queen, and full of indignation she head out to stop them, and she bumpss into Mermista who just happened to be in that part of the castle for whatever reason. She didn't feel bad about rejecting the Brightmoon Princess, shut up, and together they set out to stop the bad guys, and together they get even deeper into trouble, and they end up kidnapped or something, but just as every hope seems to be lost Mermista sends a seagull to get Sea Hawk and Bow and they have a wholeass adventure together and Sea Hawk tries to sing but Mermista pushes him in the sea and Glimmer and Mermista has a heartwarming scene as they sit on the deck of the sinking ship of the Bad Guys together looking into the sunset and Mermista says that Glimmer is 'pretty cool or whatever' and Glimmer has never felt as proud as then and they decide that even if they don't marry they can at least be kickass friends together.)

How would it be to have Sergeui from the first Rabbids game to be in the Mario + Rabbids game to be a playable character? He is so badass, and we need him, I mean, look at him! THIS IS SERGUEI! HE IS EXCELLENT!

Also, this is his track, made by himself nonetheless: THE BUTCHER DEEJAY!

If he is a boss or an ally, this theme should be remixed and I want to see Edge's reaction to such a Rabbid she has never seen before as well as the Mario characters...they would find the Butcher intimidating or rather just Beep-0, Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach since he is most likekly going to appear either in the Rayman DLC or in the sequel...

What do you think? Is he good or meh? I tend to reject me since he is a good boy and needs love, what do you think?

This is what i get for not paying attention to Rayman as a kid. I have NEVER seen a Rabbid that looks like that in ANYTHING!!! HE LOOKS FREAKING AWESOME!!!! I NEED TO DRAW HIM NOW!!!

I would LOVE to see this guy make an appearance in the Rayman DLC, whether as a boss or an ally. or maybe he could be both like with Rabbid Kong. Everyone's would defiantly be flabbergasted at what their looking at, especially Edge since this is a Rabbid that Cursa never created.

Also he's does have a pretty good theme, and yes it should be remixed :)

Hear me out: i think the reason Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach ended up where they are in the Rayman DLC, was because of a malfunction with the airship. sending all five of our Rabbid heroes to Rayman's place. R. Mario and R. Peach manage to stay together, but the other three were sent towards different places around the planet, causing the duo to team up with Rayman to rescue them. If Sergueï was in the DLC, perhaps he could be maybe either a mini boss or a boss for them. Then he would flee to the direction where Edge was located once he was defeated.

Maybe they would meet by him saving her from some enemies that just surrounded her or perhaps Edge would just encounter him as he was charging through and would stop once he spotted her. I like to think that the two would form a friendship once everything calmed down (giving a small parallel to Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Kong) and Sergueï would help Edge navigate through the planet, while looking for her friends.

Though it did say on the wiki that Sergueï is a softy so maybe he wouldn't be a boss but more of a sideline character who was already in Edge's location to begin with. Maybe later he could be an ally that helps against the final boss.

So ham and Maya are acquaintances

Maya is like super protective of like, innocent little kids, it’s kinda like a “you remind me of myself when I was younger, innocent and un traumatized” kinda thing. And since mayday is like… A LITTERAL CHILD. She’s obviously going to be like, on protective older sister mode around her, and Mayday loves it. Though he does constantly scold Peter b for bringing HIS LITTERAL CHILD ON LIFE THREATENING MISSIONS.

Jessica drew knows that Maya exist and that’s it, Maya thinks Jess is a stone cold badass, and really wants to advise her against, once again DOING LIFE THREATENING STUNTS FLIPS AND ECT WHILE FUCKING PREGNANT! Bad ass? Yes. Good for the babies health and development in any way? NO!

Since miles has only been around a bit, and during that “bit” he was being hunted down by LITERALLY EVERYBODY! Maya isn’t as good friends with him as she could be, all she knows is that Gwen talks about him nonstop, and says only good things so she trusts him, in fact she didn’t try to chase him down during the whole YOU ARE AN ANOMALY incident because he was actually the only spider who actually stood up to the messed up cannon event system, and made some really good points. So he has instantly urned her respect.

Maya and Miguel both hold grudges on each other, Miguel hates maya because she doesn’t approve of the spider society, constantly challenging and questioning orders before finally giving in. Maya hates Miguel because he turned his back on the people hurt by cannon events, without even trying to fix it. She hates the fact that the peoples around hers sole job is to take away the choices of innocent people, so she usually sticks to spider recruitment.

Noir is easily impressed, being from a universe in the middle of World War. He is actually one of the first people Maya was sent to recruit, but when noir saw maya, in colour he knew right away that she was from another dimension, so there was no difficulty in trying to convince him to join the spider society, noir, in Mayas eyes is a stone cold bad ass facist fighting detective who uses the coolest most dramatic slang ever to say the simplest things but is also good to talk to with personal stuff because he seems to always have a unique view on things. Maya in noirs eyes is a kid that has been through way to much shit and needs to be protected at all costs, he is amazed on how she is still so strong and optimistic about life despite her past traumas. more often than not noir will be the one talking to maya about his troubles, because he envy’s her different more optimistic perspective on things that he can be very pessimistic about. They kinda have an unspoken connection that they both know the other knows that they know that they have. But occasionally maya will go and drop by drawings of him in colour along with pencil crayons and colouring sheets, and he will drop by little thank you notes with gummy’s attached. They always go on missions to find anomaly’s together.

Hobie was the one to recruit Maya, Gwen was also there but wasn’t there for the whole explanation of cannon events, when Maya adresses her concerns over the system to Miguel’s face, she immediately has been put in hobies good books, most people go into silent shock trying to process all the information and breakdown alone, and just shut up and accept that life isn’t always fair and you can’t do both. So maya and hobie get close, they become two people who secretly talk shit about the establishment, and hobie has mad respect for that, hobie is like the cool older sibling maya always wished she had, and hobie is secretly very protective about her, and is always ready to be the shoulder to lie on. They both spend hours theorizing on how to disrupt the cannon with out breaking the world.

Peter has kinda unofficially adopted Maya, kinda like how the Stacy’s and the Parker’s where unofficial family in Gwen’s universe, the Parker’s are like the family she never had, and are always there when Maya feels lonely or overwhelmed, she often comes to MJ for advice, and comes to Peter for comfort. Peter hopes that Mayday grows up to be just like her. Peter and Maya relate in a lot of ways, in the sense of that they both know how it feels to be truly alone, and maya sees Peter as living proof that things get better. While noir goes to maya for support, and new perspective, it’s maya who goes to the Parker’s for support and a new perspective.

Gwen and maya are both very closed off people, who like to help other people open up to each other, so they are pretty much each others venting buddy. Gwen goes for maya for relationship advice about miles, and Maya goes to Gwen for relationship advice about Margo (more on that later). They both are introverts who ironically act like extroverts around each other. Maya thinks that Gwen is a stone cold badass, and might have gotten a hair cut NOT IDENTICAL but resemblant of hers, because it looks so cool on Gwen.

Pav is like the little brother maya has, him hobie and her are a squad. Pav likes to nerd out with maya about stuff she never had any one else to talk about with before. She is very protective of him also.

Margo and maya are two people who are stone cold badasses with literally anyone else, but are hopeless gay idiots around each other, they are friends, they have the same interests and values, and can finally really be themselves around each other literally the entire spider squad constantly tries to get them together but Maya is still traumatized by her last gf’s death so she is the most hesitant. They are very gay and very wholesome together.

Peni is another part of Mayas found family, and she must be protected at all costs, her and peni hangout and play Mincraft together on weekends and eat junk food.

I bet you'd enjoy tattooing someone, assuming you had the skill and know-how. But only if you picked the tattoo and based it around what you felt they needed. I love the idea of you marking someone and there being a lesson attached to the mark that they must abide by. Or imprisoning them with a mark that they must overcome. Then you set them free. The ones that don't make it? You can devour them until there's nothing left. Let them know before you mark and name them that you will eat them if they don't shape up by the deadline.

I got a sufficiently dense and lunky boy under my control, there are ample enticing creative opportunities which tattooing would provide. Depending on the temperament of the boy, his language and visual processing skills, his existing predispositions to shame, manipulation, repeated prompts and distortions -- in other words, the entire invisible matrix of intelligence and sensation which makes up the substance of his thought and soul -- there's so much to draw from, so much of which is situational.

How to lose at a card game on motorcycles against someone who can barely draw a card, a guide by Hermann of Team Catastrophe

As you may've guessed from my current profile pic, Yu-Gi-Oh brainrot is in full swing. Love my silly card games and all of the fucked-up shit that happens in it, sometimes.

I think I've seen Duel Monsters, the first series by Studio Gallop, fly past me on whump gif collections, but I've not seen anyone bring up how bonkers with injuries and suffering and shit future series get - for half the waiting time as well!

As you may've gleaned from the title, we're going to talk about 5Ds tonight. Long story short: Yusei is a dirt-poor orphan who drives a cool motorcycle in a dystopian society, he wins at card games, he has a swag birthmark that links him to like 4 other shmucks and they save the world. After Yusei and his friends Jack (the bold blond one with all the memes), Aki (the badass one), the twins Lua and Luca (we love them in this house) and Crow (some guy) save the damn world, they partake in a tournament where they play card games on motorcycles in teams of three. That's all the context you need for now.

Anyway, this is gonna be Long, so grab a snack and a can of whatever beverage you like best, because it's time I tell you about the one time a guy with a sure-fire way to severely injure his opponent lost against a guy with a broken shoulder. Strap in.

Okay, so maybe I'll give some more context

Before we can actually deal with Hermann YGO5Ds being mega cringe, we need to get some info out of the way.

Episode 97 of 5Ds is set right before the WRGP, the competition in whcich our Signers are going to compete. They just founded their team, Team 5Ds (title drop), which is composed of Jack, Crow and Yusei, in this order of who drives when. Feel free to forget said order, we won't need it where we're going.

At this point in the show, Crow just got his super duper dragon, Black-Winged Dragon, after solving a murder by accident. Yusei gets challenged by the smucks at Team Unicorn so they can trick Team 5Ds for their tag duel against them. Sherry says some weird stuff and drives away in French. Jack and Crow visit their orphanage and chat with their foster mom Martha. Kids Crow takes care of encourage him to do his best in the upcoming WRGP. Gee, that'd be too bad if something happened to him!

Anyway, something happens to him when going on a morning drive on Dah Motorcycle after some spooky mysterious malfunction locks the Blackbird's wheels.

woops, jinxed it.

Kind of like a bird who'd smashed head first into a window, or a stick of butter let loose in a supermarket, Crow slides on the ground. He doesn't lose consciousness, but when he tries getting up, he quickly realizes putting his right hand on the ground hurts like a bitch and - woop would you look at that.

Yeah that don't look too good.

That's only the start of our issues, however, because soon enough, ay hope Crow could've had of this being just a big-ass bruise gets smashed into the ground.

In a surprising amount of realism from a series about people playing card games on motorcycles and occasionally fighting off gods on motorcycles while still playing card games, the doctor stares at our guy and say "yeah uh that's gonna take a month to fully heal". Problem, WRGP preliminaries are in, like, three days, so Crow goes into panic mode and goes through three stages of grief at once. Y'know, denial, anger, bargaining, anger again, sadness.

TL;DR this "I don't need a cast" claim isn't going very well.

Team 5Ds is left scrambling because, without a third driver, they're at a disadvantage of 8K Life Points in total against 12K for a full team. Aki, who recently got her Turbo Duellist:tm: licence, decides she's gonna be their second wheeler. Crow, who initially sulks, sucks it in and decides to train Aki instead.

And this is how we got here... unless?

Sabotage? In my card games on motorcycles tournament? It's more likely than you think!

We skip ahead to episode 104 now. Team 5Ds has won against Team Unicorn thanks to the power of Yusei's plot armour and protag swag, and now, they're bound to go against Team Catastrophe, who are no-name criminals from Satellite, the former slums Yusei, Jack and Crow all grew up in. Oh also Team Unicorn's Andre and Jean fucking crashed against Catastrophe, that's kind of a big deal I guess.

After watching the local main antags do antag stuff, we cut to Yusei and Bruno (Team 5Ds' mechanic, forgot to mention him until now, woops) at home doing stuff on the bikes. Crow comes back from the hospital for a routine checkup. When asked abot his shoulder, he proves to be as trustworthy with the sentence "I'm fine" as Yusei "haha shrapnel in my abdomen is no big deal" Fudo:

Our guys are soon discussing what happened with Breo, at which point Carly (sweet, shafted Carly) provides them with vital info about what happened in the form of duel footage: during Team Unicorn's duel with Team Catastrophe, there was a monster named Hook, the Hidden Knight on the field both time a crash happened. The gang quickly connects the dots with what happened with the Blackbird. Conclusion: somehow, those Catastrophe guys can lock their opponents' rear wheels and it looks to be related to Hook.

And then it happens again, this time to Aki.

So, things are kind of bad. Aki's mega down for the count, there're criminals on the loose, and Crow's this close to just beating them up (with only one arm, yes). With a single, piercing gaze, Yusei convinces him to just face them like a true man: in a card game. Crow takes that as a hint that, actually, it's his job to do. Jack is like "what the hell are you doing bird brain" while Yusei is just. marveling at the sight of medical equipment without child safety locks.

Crow vows revenge, and eyecatch.

It's the day of Team 5Ds VS Team Catastrophe! Everyone's excited and Officer Ushio, the only good cop ever, wants to take that whole sabotage thing to the authority - but Breo tells him no, actually, he should let th ebunch of 18-to-20-yos take care of it, to avenge Andre and Jean or something. (To be exact, Jack is 20, Yusei is 19, and Crow is 18. wait crow was a minor in the dark signers arc?)

Team Catastrophe gets boo'd, Team 5Ds gets a solid round of praise, I try to ignore how Carly and Mikage have been reduced to Jack Atlas fangirls and - oh.

Crow walks up to them to clearly announce he's here to get revenge for Aki, and Andre, and Jean, and himself too. Hermann (of Team Catastrophe glory, it's the guy on the right) taunts him on his physical condition, Crow smirks, and tells them he knows what they're playing. The guy not on the picture is like "shit they're sussing us out", Hermann scoffs it off.

The first round sees Hermann and Crow facing off. This absolute banger of a sentence is said:

Meanwhile, in Team 5Ds' pit, Luca's worried about Crow, since his shoulder hasn't healed fully yet. Jack tells them Crow's a stubborn bastard and wouldn't take no for an answer, Lua has no fear in his heart whatsoever and Yusei doesn't add anything before the duel starts.

As always in Riding/Turbo Duels, the first turn is determined by who can close the first corner first. It's already not going well for Crow.

Nonetheless, shonen shit gets said.

Hermann quickly understands what's going on with his opponent and goes for the kill right off the bat.

Fairly logically, Crow loses most of his balance and, most importantly, the first turn.

For the needs of this just not being Yugipedia's duel description from this episode, I'll make actual duelling details short. What's important here is that Hermann summons "Hook, the Hidden Knight", and defeating it is a pain in the ass for Crow due to his Monster Effect.

What's more important to us, and will explain the title of this post, is that it's not just shoving your arm right into Crow's shoulder that'll make him grit his teeth in pain - even drawing a card is enough.

So is drawing a card, actually. I'm no gif maker, so I can't show it animated, but his hand jerks when just putting "Blackwing - Sirocco of the Dawn" on his field.

Yeah, that's gonna be a long one for our bird guy.

Anyway, whenever "Hook, the Hidden Knight" uses its effect, Shadow Hook, this happens:

This duel is also a lot of Crow evading one (1) hook that's somehow made out of solid shadow, so ths is going to be the sole time I show this. Episode 104 ends on this, so onto the next episode we go.

Formula 1 forces you to do pit stops even if you're Max Verstappen, but this doesn't apply to Riding Duels I guess

Episode 105 greets us back to Crow understanding the ugly-ass monster in front of him is what's attacking all those people. Right on cue for his shoulder to mess with him again!

Now painfully aware he needs to make this duel short, he sets his entire hand on the field and ends his turn. This is what clues Jack and Yusei on the fact their foster brother is really not doing so hot.

Hermann takes his turn. Of course, Hooky Hook attacks again, so that means Crow has to go on dodging duties, which triggers more pain in his shoulder (the animation is recycled, so no point in showing it here). The MC doesn't suspect the Shoulder Inquisition, so he wonders if the Blackbird isn't going insane. Hermann sets a card and ends his turn.

Crow is once again left to wonder how n the hell what's happening to him is even possible, but he's cut off in his thoughts by - you guessed it.

Jack, who like last week was dragging his bleeding ass to the pit stop after crashing against Andre of Unicorn (a whole grandiose moment of 5Ds that was too), declares this:

Jack asks Lua to ask Crow to make a pit stop; and that's the boy does. He screams "yo, dude, stop for now, I'll take care of it". Crow replies that, no, he'll destroy that monster first. And so he drives by the pit lane and that's it.

Yusei's opinion on the matter is that everyone needs to trust in their friend, while Jack declares in the most tsundere way possible he won't be hold responsible for what happens to his pal. Don't be fooled, tho, drawing a card is still a literal pain for Crow.

Crow takes his turn. Duelling happens, with him coming prepare for Hook's effect, but not Hermann's other Monster's effect. Still, he manages to deal 2000 LP of damage after taking 1600 himsel, from Hook's Effect activating twice. This time, however, when Shadow Hook activates, he has to straight up jump in the air to evade the hook, so he has to land - and yeah that hurts, big fucking oop.

To make a long story short of the last turn in this duel, Crow summons his new ace Black-Winged Dragon, kills off Hook, reduces Hermann's LP from 2000 to 0, but Hermann wants to keep the damn thing on the field. Crow's forced to active "Gravity Collapses", a Trap card that sends a Synchro Monster on his field to the graveyard in exchange for the negation of that second summoning. Activating the trap hurts tho woops, but he must be fast, cuz that thing is coming for him.

"Gravity Collapses" does its thing, Hermann's finished, no more Hook shenanigans to come. Revenge taken, Monster beaten, time for adrenaline to run off.

And so, with still 800LP remaining, Crow takes his pit stop, finally. Yusei and Jack both rush to him, and the faces their brother makes when taking off his helmet and passing the baton to Jack are quite a sight to behold.

So, I ran out of pictures for this post (woops), so just know Jack beats the ass of Catastrophe's second wheeler so bad they have to forfeit. Then the plot kicks in again. Crow gets to sit a bit of it out because his shoulder is, actually, still a source of pain.

And so this is how you too can lose to someone with a broken shoulder despite having a weapon. Good grief.

Ubisoft really went for the heart, with that freaking papyrus and the Library of Alexandria, eh?

Swear to the Gods, if I wanted to keep Alexios and Kassandra safe and sound before, now Imma hid them away, snug in a blanket, where nothing will ever hurt them.

Not even the passing of time.

Because dear Gods, all I can imagine now is Alexios taking care of Barnabas in his final years, because Barnabas is just SO FREAKING STUBBORN and would follow him on the Adrestia even if he is too weak and weary to actually travel.

Or I can imagine Kassandra coming back to Greece, years after wandering around, and not recognizing the places she lived the majority of her mortal life. Like, the place is familiar, yet not the same. As if she were a tree whose roots had been cut off, and no matter how much she tries to reconnect to the places of her birth, they are not the same any longer.

They are just landscapes where only the ghosts of her memories live on.

And oh my heart, that made me so incredibly sad.

I am sorry, I will be busy crying my eyes out for the next few hours or so.

My Gods, the Unity Cinematic Trailers is still SO FREAKING AWESOME after all these years.

Like, the choice of the song along with how the whole scene develop, the choice of having the Baguette Bois, in the end, standing over the parapet and overlooking Paris.

SO FUCKING BADASS.

SO FUCKING AWESOME.

I cannot even start to say HOW MUCH this trailer fires me up, both in the good sense and in the worst sense.

Like, I get all excited by this story they are telling me in this trailer, about the characters and whatnot.

AND THEN I GET ALL ANGERED BECAUSE THEY GAVE ME *NOTHING* OF IT.

THEY DIDN'T DELIVER ME ONE CRUMBLE OF WHAT THEY WERE PROMISING ME.

NOT EVEN THE BAGUETTES IN COOP MODE.

Like, I know I will probably be lynched for this, but I will say it anyway, because it's just an opinion, and have the right to express it.

I would have preferred LESS Arno/Elise content and MORE Baguette Bois content, because I do believe, in my heart of hearts, that we would have been able to see Arno for how Arno was, and not for how Arno was with Elise. (Much like we got to see more of his personality for how it was in the DLC, but again, this is still my opinion, take it as you want it).

THE POINT IS.

WE WERE ROBBED OF BAGUETTE BOIS CONTENT, AND I WILL NEVER GET OVER IT.

"Cradled in Love" - Poets of the Fall

SO.

I was so enamoured with the ask I got this morning by @miss--river, I was literally held hostage by my own brain all day, I HAD TO draw something sweet with Jacob and Dottie being, well...UTTERLY in love with each other (plus, I recently got new brushes for CSP that I was DYING to try, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone).

So here you have the results of me sketching on this warm-up sketch like a maniac. It took me only an hour, so please, be lenient with me in regards to the whole chaotic essence of it all. I went following my emotions and the love for them, rather than focusing on the details and the cleanliness of it all (because if I did, it would have taken me at least a whole day, and I don't have the time for that).

Let me tell you, these two have me in a chokehold, and they don't have any intention of letting me go!!

I just love them and their love, and it makes me SO IMMENSELY happy to portray them being so utterly in love with one another.

Also, I realized, this is the first time I drew an almost kiss for them, and it was ABOUT TIME (I need to draw them kissing fully tho. That needs to be done).

Ghost of Tshushima review

now i’ve got platinum on the base game i’m gonna share my thoughts. i know some of you have been following my commentary as i play so here’s a final thoughts kinda thing

i went into ghost of tsushima completely blind with a 5/5 IGN score in mind and a before you buy gameranx video. i hadn’t seen the trailer nor knew anything about the plot. i’ve never played a sword combat game before but the fact i love open world and story-driven games, i decided to give it a go. as someone who is naturally interested in history regardless, the concept of a badass samurai game intrigued me.

my initial thoughts when booting up the game was wow, okay. straight into battle because that opening sequence is nothing short of fantastic. you’re thrown onto the beach of komoda with a charging army of samurai, slashing invaders with your katana like a fucking badass. they give you what you came for straightaway — an awesome combat slasher game.

i don’t want this review to be too long so i’m going to talk about the open world aspect as a whole. as a natural fan of huge open world games (the horizon and tes franchises come to mind) as far as GOT goes, the world feels incredibly linear. there’s something so charming about all the characters you encounter and even jin himself, the protagonist. even without jin, the world seems to exist when he isn’t there. it’s common for open world games to fall into the trap of ‘everything evolves around the player’ and GOT does an excellent job of subverting this. an example that really cemented this was a specific quest when a peasant tells jin a group of bandits stole her food and she asks him to retrieve it. when jin does, she confesses that the food was never hers and that she is desperate and starving. i thought nothing more of this and moved on. later in the game i stumbled across her cabin again and found it infested with bandits, her dead body on the floor. it shocked me because very few games manage such subtle details as this that make the world breathe, even when you aren’t there.

i can’t talk about this game without mentioning the visuals. i mean, cmon. this game is beautiful. i’ve taken so many photos because wow, the photomode is probably the best i’ve seen, like, ever. you customise to the point that it’s ridiculous. there’s so much variation that i didn’t get to use it all.

regarding the story — it’s completely unassuming. there’s obviously an inclination of a winding tale because there’s three parts of the island that define the story’s three acts. but i did not for a moment expect it to take such a dark turn. there were moments where i feared that i, the player, was doing the wrong thing. a LOT of moments made me gasp and shout at my TV, some where i laughed or cheered. saying this, i am easily immersed in media so take this as a grain of salt… i’m not gonna talk about the ending cos i want this to be relatively spoiler free but man, what a somber conclusion.

combat in this game is satisfying. enemy ai is relatively stupid which you can exploit to your advantage. the skill trees and stances you learn along your journey are very useful. i usually don’t tend to indulge in combo moves when it comes to games because i’m boring like that but with GOT i found that i was actually using them. which is rare. i loved the ghost rampage mode but i always got SO pissed when an enemy drained it when you were so close to filling it. stealth in this game is also pretty cool. the bow is op as fuck. upgrade that shit and you can wipe out hoards of enemies like no problem. i lean towards the half bow generally because the draw speed is less of a pain in the ass, where as the long bow, whilst has explosive arrows, just doesn’t feel as accurate?

overall feelings — yeah, i loved this game. one of the best open world experiences i’ve had yet. if you’re having doubts about it, this is your sign. GO PLAY IT.
