i'm imagining like. most people in tanya's life are begging her to put the case aside as she gets more and more obsessed with it. the cops involved don't want her to help obviously, her friends and family are worried about how serious she's becoming about it, hell, even yu and william both individually reach out to her to be like hey, lila is dangerous, stop trying to get involved (though william kinda sorta accidentally ends up getting involved with tanya in his own way. oops. thoughts for a later post though).

however, tanya's inherent self destructive tendencies just....keep her on this path, and it's a good distraction from the mundane pain of her normal life. she saw the killer, if people would just let her help, she knows that she can help, she knows this person's face, it's burned into her brain intimately....if she could just find them.....

and of course lila is just as fascinated with her once she realizes that this girl is trying to track her down. she's never had someone so obsessed over her before, at least not in this way, and she kind of likes being a puzzle for her to solve. so, she starts initiating contact of her own, leaving clues for tanya to string together, which of course, sends william into a tizzy, and he begs her to stop egging her on, this could get really REALLY bad. of course....lila doesn't listen to him, because yeah, they have a better relationship in this au, but she still doesn't really respect his feelings on most things and tends to steamroll him on most decisions she makes. for her, this is just a fun game, because what can tanya really do to her? she's just some girl, not the police, and even the police did get involved, well....yu has connections. she'll be fine.

and well.....let's just say, when they do meet up for the first time, lila realizes that maybe she was underestimating tanya, because.....i mean, you know that scene in killing eve season one where eve impulsively stabs villainelle?
