hard relate on the crazy week because that has been me this past week and this is genuinely the first day i feel like i have room to breathe lmao i hope you’ve been having a gentler, slower time this week though! 🥺 right, ok, on to the questions 😂

1. just like,,, how complex of a character she is. in the show, you know she loves life, you know that she’s a glutton for experiences, you know that she wants to live more than anyone else. but when you really get down to how much she’s had to survive to get to that point—all the pain and suffering and grief—you can’t help but love her more. especially, when i had to ask myself how she must’ve felt. that… was an experience lmao

2. yes. ava had to shop for underwear at some point…?

3. GRANDPOP OLIVER! i was genuinely so sad i couldn’t find a way to get him into the story, but in my head, he’s alive and kicking and prone to bursting into tears in the presence of his pseudo-granddaughter. ugh, i wanted to write that reunion 😭

4. this is gonna sound nerdy, but with ava’s age and her mom’s, i figured it was the song that would make the most sense considering what music was like at the time. I Will by The Beatles was also a contender though.

5. ouija board is a horrible idea in a huge ass compound where there’s no other person for miles and miles 😂 as for the uh other things, i’d say they’d have a conversation about it but bea would prolly be like “who knows whose bodily fluids that leather has soaked up”

6. genuinely have no idea 💀 i was like “oh they prolly need a car but also no one to do maintenance here so,,, maybe suzanne knows how” and just went with it 😂

7. yes!!! ava would teach her how and they have fun with it while they google recipes and the cultural background of each dish together. i’m thinking bea would make her waffles from scratch and ava cries into it because she used to have it with her mom 🥹

8. aikido is one. i remember doing research for that for sixth to the ninth hour lmao as for the others, imma say she’s prolly a jack of all trades type (though this is more because i don’t know which to pick. she seems like she could do it all)

9. actually i did think about this 😂 bea definitely didn’t mean to. it’s just the door gave up being a door and it didn’t close properly. she didn’t think to check because she didn’t expect the door to… not door 💀

Poor poor Falling For You.  If I ever do come back to it I’m going to rehaul it because I’ve learned so much about writing from when I first started to now.   What's even worse is I have the end written it's all the middle parts that need finishing.

What are your writing strengths? This is hard. I think I’m good at fight scenes, as well as the build up to emotional admissions :D If that makes sense.  

What are your writing weaknesses? Writing humor that doesn’t sound forced, I think. I don’t know how to explain, but that every day humor that friends and loved ones do. I think also add atmosphere to the story. I sometimes think I'm too dry with my words, but I'm trying to get better! I also don't always catch when I hop out past tense because my brain is like: those words sound good LOLOLOL.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I think it could work, for sure! I couldn’t do it except for tiny little itty bitty bits, but otherwise I think it’s fine! :D

as someone who used to be in the ml fandom very actively around 5? years back ? (gosh that feels like forever) i have to say the fandom totally feels quieter. i still follow most of the accounts i used to but the ml fandom rarely seems to go crazy like it used to. i know for a fact it can, back when the ml bible thingie was released. i think hype in tumblr spheres just decreased, ppl started getting out of the fandom and became more onlookers (like me).

you are totally right about the salt tag. i remember when you couldnt get through any fic list without at least 1 or 2 being salt fics lololol!!

Yeah definitely which sucks because tumblr is kind of the main platform that is convenient for writers. Twitter likes to pretend it's better than tumblr but 1. It's not, especially with the Muskrat at the helm now, and 2. It's not a platform that's designed for fanfic writers to thrive because of word count limits. Same with instagram but even worse. And I've talked to a few people who are done after this season, they don't even want to watch season 6 on, so I anticipate it will get even quieter after this season.

I remember back when this fandom was bustling with activity. So many theories and fics and art and events. Most of the top fics on ao3 are from that time because the readership just isn't there for newer works like it was back then. I don't think people who came into this fandom recently really understand how massive this fandom used to be on tumblr. We were always top of tumblr analytics.

But a lot of people have stepped back for one reason or another, I imagine discourse had a lot to do with it. It sucks. I still want to enjoy the show, and I want to write fanfic for it, but there just aren't as many people around these parts anymore that want to do those things. Or if there are, they're just silently lurking, but that's not how fandom is supposed to be. Content creators thrive off of interaction, but very few are getting it. Even on ao3 where people go specifically to read fic. It's a ghost town ☠👻

Idk. I plan to stick around. These kids aren't done haunting me yet.

Prob Running Late or Shoulder Pain. I'm not really good with angsty endings so I usually only keep it angsty in the shorter fics lmao.

Ugh. Johnlock/Hmmk or Nrmt have to be like. The only ships that made me insane enough to write multiple fics over so it's def them. I love insanely codependant relationships.

There's so many. But off the top of my head, I have a fantasy AU that Beau and I came up with that I still love a ton (Finding You) and want to finish and a Edgeworth ends up in a Gregory lives AU (In Another Life) that I'm not sure if I'll ever finish. The former is just so much work and the latter I've kinda lost the plot thread so. Ough. Sorry.

I'd have to say A Study In Gold. I genuinely love that one so much. Thinking about hmmk early days makes me insane. I also really liked On the Morality of Birds b/c it was just such a supremely stupid fic.

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

i've been in a very Eddie headspace lately, so i'll have to go with him! a lot of my fics end up with his pov or solely in his pov.

20. Tell us the meta in your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you've included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

okay, so i'm gonna do yes i know that he's my ex real quick cause i got yelled at for this bit and i found that so satisfying that i got such a strong reaction from everyone who read this fic lololol

so originally, carlos had tk in his phone as "tk" and then i remembered that couples change their partner's names to things like "baby", "babe", "love", etc and tbh i can TOTALLY see carlos doing this for tk with how far gone he was for him since episode 2 as soon as their relationship is defined. and then i knew once he realized that there was nothing saving their relationship (remember when marjan talked to him, he seemed so tired, and cut off from the convo sorta?) i can then see him changing it to something entirely impersonal. and i'm SO GLAD people picked up on all that just from a simple name change! that made me so proud as a writer.

on another note, for my vampire!buck au, i only looked up blood types super quick, but i have eddie as o positive, and that's the most common blood type, meanwhile taylor is ab negative, the most rare blood type....and if you go back to my little snippets when buck tastes both their blood, you'll see the direction i'm working towards with that. buck tasting eddie's blood and having this familiar taste, yet it's not cause it's eddie, and then when he's tasting taylor, that becomes a key factor why he's with her because it's like tasting a rare delicacy and he doesn't want to give it up yet. (and tagging @hippolotamus for this bit)

23. What's a story idea that you've had in your head the longest?

in terms of 911/Lonestar fanfic-my fae!carlos fic. basically lonestar except carlos is a faerie with all the lore that comes with it.

with original fic, i have an idea of an actors story that deals with them playing characters that their fandom ships but is not together in the show their filming and how they feel about that personally. gee i wonder where that came from

Good Omens Season 2

I've been looking forward to this for entirely too long. I hoarded a lot of my spoons for new input over the past week and change to be able to watch and enjoy Barbie and this. (There's a post for the whole post viral fatigue thing waiting to be written as well.)

I was lucky to be able to scream at @lu-inlondon (💖) and throw my very incoherent thoughts at DW as well. Putting it under the jump so you don't have to actually read them. I have some speculative thoughts as well, but I'll bring those up later, I think.

Episode 1

OMG they knew each other before the beginning.

I'm sure I've read this in fanfic. Like I mean the whole plot from the trailer I've read in fanfic, but I have definitely read this piece where they knew each other and involved in the creation in fanfic. And where Crowley was responsible for making stars. Neil............

I love the fact that David is bringing out his brogue a little bit in the Edinburgh scenes.

Since when can Crowley himself talk through the radio? I thought he could only do that passively. OMG THE CAR OMG. I love them.

Crowley explaining gravity to Gabriel is.....I mean. Yeah. It's very on brand.

I love it when Aziraphale and Crowley are working together together. That surgeon plot sounds a lot like the premise for "Anatomy: A love story" btw. Which I know has some foundation in truth. But still!

Als have I mentioned how much I miss Edinburgh? I haven't been there in twenty years and I feel that yearning so much. (Yeah, I should just go.)

Okay........tiny Crowley.....giant Crowley....is weird. The thug on the graveyard uses his phone for Grindr. I love it.

I love that Crowley is actually locking the shops. Does Aziraphale even know how considerate he is? (He probably does.) Also.... Hmmmm, Shax can't enter the shop w/o invitation? Interesting. Of course Crowley has long been issued one but... hmmmmm.

The Blitz scene!!!! oh, it was so clear that Arizaphale realizing a few things would come to bite them. omg we're getting the ride home after that. through the Blitz. and no Aziraphale. Not your magic tricks. oh no...

Somehow, ep 4 is the weakest one and was also the weakest one in Season 1 (imo). I mean, I can't say for the rest of the episodes, but somehow...I'm not big on this episode. It's toooooo long winded.

Atreidaho Week Day 5

Day 5: "I wanna fuck you right against the glass so everyone can see how good you take it." Rating: M Words: 517

When they finally fucked for the first time it was after weeks of Duncan being made to watch as Paul slept his way through the young and wealthy of Cala City. Of having watched Paul at party after party where he inevitably drank too much, got high and found a new flavour of the night.

Paul didn't always find a hookup but sometimes that was even worse. On those nights after Duncan helped him into the waiting town car Paul would lounge back against the door and watch Duncan with dark, lust filled eyes.

He would flirt with Duncan, with teasing remarks and soft lingering touches.

Tonight he had taken it one step further. Instead of retreating to the privacy of his room after they arrived at his apartment he began to strip away his clothing right there in the entryway. Shoes, socks by the front door, belt and jacket in the hallway, his shirt over the back of the armchair which he then sat in.

The whole while he complained to Duncan in a soft voice how no one that night had been what he wanted, what he needed.

How none of them had been tall enough, broad enough, muscled enough. He wanted someone who could hold him down and make him take it.

The last bit was said with a pointed look at Duncan which the bigger man did his best to ignore. 

What Duncan couldn't ignore was when Paul began to touch himself. He ran his hands down his chest, his stomach until finally he slipped a hand down the front of his pants with a groan of Duncan's name.

Duncan snapped. He was across the room before he had even made a conscious decision to move.

Hi mysterious anon! Thanks for playing! 7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote Oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaan. Okay. Well. LMAO. It was a Smallville fic. An Inquest into the Death of Alexander J Luthor and it was very much what it said on the tin. Lex Luthor was dead (I think it was suicide?) and Clark finds him and it's only after he's dead that Clark realizes how much he loves Lex. I was cautioned by my mentor at the time that it wasn't a good idea, but I felt like I was really onto something. That you just didn't see enough major character death fics out there... so I posted it on my lj because this was very much before ao3 was a thing, so it's not like there were tags or anything, just people who saw the title and figured "oh there much be a twist, Lex won't really end up DEAD dead in the fic..." And guess what! I got flamed to hell and back! lololol! I was super devestated at the time I remember, since it was my first attempt and everyone haaaaated it. Honestly, though, I don't think major character death fic is a terrible idea and after all this time I don't think I'd mind writing a death fic again. I think people are more receptive to that kind of thing now since I could properly label it and people would only read it if they were in the right mindset for it... so I think the concept could probably find an audience now, but back then no. No, very much no. 84. said: overused or underused? Everything in moderation. Said is fine, Dialogue tags are fine, I just try to keep an eye on both so that they don't feel too weighted in either direction. Honestly, the trick I've been trying to get down is to do away with said or dialogue tags altogether and write action that reveals more about whats happening in between a character's dialogue. I feel like you get more narrative bang for your buck that way. It can be awkward though, so I don't know that I've totally gotten the hang of it yet. 97. abstract or detailed romance scenes? Oh how I WISH I was classy enough to have abstract romance scenes. I strive to have that gentle, teasing literary touch. But, alas, I cut my fanfic teeth on raunchy-ass smut. So it is waaaaaaaay easier for me to just go for it and write the most nc-17 balls to the wall sex scene. Even when I start writing a fic with the intention of keeping it pg and leave more to the imagination, it usually ends up that way. Oh, well.

the straight for your heart (wolfpack au) series by foreverkneeld and foundfamilyvevo (96k, T/G, Multiple or No pairings including Niall/Louis, Zayn/Liam, OT5, and Shawn/Niall) - This series is the ultimate hurt/comfort and healing pack fic series omg. it was recommended to me when i was in a super hard time and my anxiety was so bad i couldn't focus on anything. These short fics that all focused so much on healing and found family were exactly what i needed. so so soft, so lovely. I still haven't read them all because i'm saving them for when i need them. they're glorious.

when the air ran out and we both started running wild by darlingjustdont (48k, M, Nick/Louis) - OMG OKAY LISTEN THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVS. a tomlinshaw werewolf pack fic?! ahhhhhhhhh i was SO happy when i discovered this one. louis is alpha of the pack and things are... shaky, shall we say. there's a lot going on that he's worried about and then he meets nick and it's kind of enemies to lovers? okay, more than kind of. but omg the FEELS. ANYWAY. there's a REASON it was THE werewolf fic and that's because this is amazing. it sucks you in and you feel like you're truly a part of the action. it's filled with the vibe of found family and wanting to figure out what happened while also adjusting to your new life and just... so many feelings. so much angst. Okay fellow 3rd life fans I think it’s time I come clean. I have been silent about this the entire time, thinking about staying quiet cuz it seemed the whole fandom disagrees with what I’m about to say but I will stay silent no longer.

I don’t get why people say the Desert was “clearly the bad guys”.

Let’s get this out of the way: I mainly watched Scar’s POV along with Grian’s. I watched a fair amount of Martyn’s episodes as well, a couple from Scott and then random episodes from Skizz, Cleo, Impulse, Jimmy, and probably more. Definitely plot important ones I watched from more POVs than just my main guys Scar and Grian.

I just don’t get why, when people look at all of the different factions, they look at the Desert and go “yes they are clearly in the wrong and the only ones I can easily label as the villains in the overall story” what??? Don’t even get me started on “it’s interesting that the villains won in 3rd life” what??? I always viewed them as the more innocent ones, although the story is very morally grey so it doesn’t say TOO much lmao.

So let me explain why! Well, honestly, I’m more confused as to why y’all say they’re so obviously the villains, so I’m just explaining why I’m confused here lol.

So first of all let’s get the scamming and monopolies out of the way. I have less to say about the monopoly so let’s start with that. THEY NEVER HAD A MONOPOLY… if the idea of making a monopoly is bad enough for you guys, then might I remind y’all of the cow monopoly that was attempted? Everyone was looking for ways to make business… and a SAND monopoly was CLEARLY doomed to fail!! Not to bring Dream SMP into this but if y’all are gonna say OG L’Manberg was innocent because they didn’t succeed in the potion monopoly at all then let’s have that same energy for the Sand People!!!

Now for the scams. “Oooh poppy how are you gonna defend the scamming” BECAUSE IT WASN’T SCAMMING??? Scar made it clear what he wanted and what the person would receive in return. They were told they were going to receive a piece of paper and they agreed to it! Don’t listen to Grian “don’t listen to Scar it’s a scam the papers don’t mean anything” because he was LYING. Not purposely, but he was lying. Scar NEVER said “hey Grian let’s scam people with fRiEnDsHiP” instead he always told Grian that it WAS real and that he WOULD go through with all of the papers. And he did! There were a couple of mishaps but obviously it’s really difficult to control every situation. Plus Scar had a hard time remembering all of the friendship passes lmao. But he really did try, he really did value these trades, it wasn’t scamming just because Grian thought there was no way it was worth it.

The only Scar hater I stan is Skizzleman he had all right to be mad at Scar but that doesn’t mean Scar was the enemy of the whole story lol

Now onto something that I don’t know how to start explaining but is a very big reason why I’m confused about the fandom calling the Desert the bad guys. NOBODY IN THE SMP TOOK THEM SERIOUSLY. I saw SO many posts about how “Scar and Grian seem like fun guys in THEIR POV but in others POV they’re really scary!” Like no? I always thought it was the opposite. Like watching Scar’s POV I was like “ah man they have to kill people cuz red life this is so dramatic they are feared by the server…” BUT THEN I WATCH SOMEONE ELSE’S POV AND THEY LITERALLY SAY STUFF LIKE “lol we don’t have to worry about Scar” “dang all those people just exploded. Anyways Scar is the weakest red life and we have nothing to worry about when it comes to him it’s all the other red lifers that are a problem” “lol there goes those idiots trying to make a monopoly on sand so silly” and I’m like. Oh. The entire server treats them like silly cartoon villains that never achieve anything. And yes they say these things WHILE hunting the Desert People down like what. Basically the server treating the villainous things the Desert did as not very serious made me think the same, which is why I’m so confused that people think they’re the Big Bad Guys.

ANOTHER THING relating to how the server treats the Desert: alliances!! The Desert was very loyal. Scott and Jimmy trusted the Desert, which shocked many people on the server but were they wrong? No! The Desert trusted the Hobbits back fully as well. They were the only alliance they fully trusted, but they didn’t go behind their other allies’ backs just cuz they weren’t so sure about the alliance. Sure there were comments about Impulse, but that idea was fed to them by Impulse’s allies, they had no other information. And yet they STILL gave him stuff and didn’t flinch when alone with him above Dogwarts, because even with him being suspicious he was still their ally and they are loyal as heck!!! Sure there was Impulse’s demise but like. That was endgame, everyone was looking for a reason to kill someone, and the Desert was told that Impulse was sus af and his own allies didn’t trust him so it was an easy pick. Bdubs coulda said no. And yeah Scar betrayed Bdubs in the end but like. Once again, endgame, and also it was “kill the person who stuck with you since the beginning” or “kill the person who is only on your side cuz you gave him a clock a while ago and lied to you about liking watches”. What do you expect? Plus the ending showed how loyal Scar was to Grian, the guy who owed him his first life and stuck with him till the end. Beautiful.

ANYWAYS EVEN MEMBERS OF DOGWARTS WERE LIKE “I have a hard time killing Scar because he hasn’t really wronged me personally in any way, he’s fairly reliable as well” LIKE… bro they were ENEMIES. Scar also didn’t really want to hurt them!!! Also can I just say that the only reason Scar was as bad as he was was because he was the first person to go red? Red lifers are supposed to be like the villains, so I don’t disagree with people saying that at FIRST Scar was a villain cuz he was red (although wtf were some of these guys up to using excuses to kill people while green (not talking about Grian)) but he wasn’t even that bad while he was red. He was just the worst by default since he was red lol. Which was entirely not his fault, and he only wanted to kill Ren pretty much lol. So I guess Scar being the villain depends on if you consider Ren to be the main character of the entire server.

Which is another thing I don’t get… why people see Dogwarts as the good guys. There was a CLEAR corruption arc people. Dogwarts had loyalty, but it was very ride or die, as in “if you don’t ride with us you will die”. You watch these guys call everyone (not just the desert people) “filthy peasants” and not realize they are acting like villains??? Plus the ominous “red winter is coming” like what. Not saying they weren’t good at the start, nor that they were completely and totally bad, just that if you were to frame ANYONE in this MORALLY GREY SERVER as “The Bad Guys” why not the ones that made it their entire thing????? YES they were good at first, they had regrets and cared so much about their people (just not anyone else lololol). It’s a tragic story, and you’re gonna write it off like “no even when they started doing bad things to people who never hurt them it was justified” even when they regret those things towards the end or after death so clearly it was wrong??? Guys.

I don’t want to call anyone the Bad Guys in 3rd life tho. They all did bad things, they all had valid reasons, they all had people they cared about. I just don’t get why people pick the Desert when they try to pick villains. They weren’t totally innocent but I never saw them as THE villains. For me, even while watching Martyn, that was always Dogwarts, and even then I don’t consider them Total Villains because the server is so grey! I loved them I just think that if anyone is the bad guys maybe it’s the self-imposed king that threatens to take ALL of your lives if you don’t show complete and total loyalty to them and wave their banner above your house to show it. Even if that king started out innocent and only went red to protect his friends. Once again tho I don’t like picking Bad Guys for this server. It was a very good story without having a clear right or wrong.

Just wanted to confess that, don’t really feel like arguing about it cuz I see enough people calling the Desert the Villains just scrolling thru the main tag lmao.

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Almost exclusively GoT, and one (1) tiny Good Omens ficlet as a gift. I dabbled in Harry Potter with a different AO3 account, but my heart just wasn't in it.

What are your top five fics by kudos?

Law of the North (this one is faaaaaaaaaaaar ahead of the others lololol)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Comments are the best, comments are love, I feed off of them!

I always respond to comments eventually. My MO is to answer comments on the latest chapter right before I post a new one. Comments on last chapters or one-shots I answer whenever I have time/headspace. Longer comments (which I of course adore ❤️) sometimes take me longer to answer because I want to do them justice!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Everyone who reads my stuff knows I'm always trying to go for the big HEA. Probably the Soulmate AU, but that doesn't count because the sequel has a big, fat happy ending.

(But ooooooh just you wait for the Superhero AU to drop... *evil laughter*)

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Um. All of them? 🙈

Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?

Not as of yet and I don't think I will.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Twice! One was a comment calling me foul and disgusting etc on the Vamp AU, the other one was on The Best of Friends, complaining that I made Jon too feminine (because he doesn't like to eat in bed re: crumbs, guess men are all secretly fakirs) and that Theon and Jon don't hate each other (they just met for the first time at the start of the fic)

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I do write loads of smut, all kinds I guess? (there are different kinds of smut? 🤔)

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not stolen, no. There *is* a Greysnow soulmate AU out there somewhere that has many specific elements of my own Greysnow soulmate AU, but that could be a coincidence, and if not, well I just choose to see it as having possibly inspired the author. But no one ever stole actual parts of my writing.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I've had several requests from kind people who wanted to translate some of my fics into Russian and Chinese, which I always enthusiastically agreed to, but I never followed up on those or looked if they are out there.

Have you ever co-written a fic?

YES! I did a whole Jondry series with @quicksilvermaid and had so much fun doing it! There is another collab on the horizon (Gendrya and Greysnow, next year) with the very talented @thereluctantbadger which I'm very much looking foward to!

What’s your all time favourite ship?

....this is going to surprise y'all so much. Greysnow! Gotcha 🤣

What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I have several WIPs in my docs that involve Robb POV, and since he's being a dick and not letting me hear his voice, those probably won't ever happen.

What’s your writing strengths?

Humour, I guess. I love infusing even the darkest fic with some bits of light here and there. I'm a comedic genius, what can I say (and so humble 😬)

What’s your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes, like fights or such. Always feels flat and blah to me. Also, I'm kinda bad at including side plots and characters. Too fixated on my OTP 😅

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I've never done it, but have encountered it in reading. Only bothers me if it's so much I constantly have to use google translate or scroll to the bottom when the author has a translation there. A bit is fine I guess.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Game of Thrones lol

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

That's STILL Smile of a Ghost, my first baby. I wish I found the time for a proper rewrite, alas... too many WIPs, not enough time.

Joël you're a treasure XD And man, I feel for Roy (i know, bad form, but I'm weak for him, don't shame me). It's tough when someone you care about acts like they don't care about you at all in return. I know it's not like that all the time, but enough instances like that and you just walk away, because what's the point? If they're not interested, no use sticking, right?

I am a defiant Roy apologist also! But the situation with Saoirse is very difficult for him to accept. He is doing his best however, and trying to give her the space she needs. I think she needs to be careful though...there are plenty of other women out there who would love to sink their hooks into him! ;=)  And she shouldn’t forget either that Roy is someone who needs a lot of affection (especially after being married to Sonia for so long!) But on the whole I think she is handling Roy very well, and knows how to keep him wanting more so his attention doesn’t wane. This is also what kept him in his marriage to Sonia so long- it was a constant challenge.  Roy is someone who gets bored very easily if he isn’t challenged.

Roy is such an asshole. Like, the world does not revolve around your dick and your "needs" regarding your dick! Also, way to go bad-mouthing Sonia and Saoirse in front of the kids. Could you pretend to respect them for five minutes, at least?

He made sure the kids weren’t in hearing distance though before he started talking about sex and Sonia and Saoirse. I made a point of mentioning that in the text, because he’s been mistakenly accused of talking about sex and his dick in front of the kids in the past.

Apparently, the mind mistakes excitement for 'happiness.—the thrill of the chase. Once the honeymoon period dies down, thats when things can seem 'boring' or 'uninteresting'. It seems like Roy has come to an awful realization… he and Saoirse are somewhat of a boring couple.

Roy isn’t in the least bit bored. Why would he be begging her to come over if that was the case? He wants Saoirse more than ever, and is frustrated that she doesn’t seem to feel the same way. The fact that she refuses to pander to his ego and cater to his demands makes her even more irresistible to him.

Similar to monotonous commentators. Yes, we understand that you feel one way. What’s new? There is no thrill in a tedious lack of variety. Maybe Saoirse could step out of her comfort zone, sometimes.

Saoirse made a deliberate effort to move out of her comfort zone by moving out of Roy’s penthouse. She has no problem dealing with the unknown and challenging the status quo. It’s what she’s done her whole life.

Good thing Sao keeps being strong and not letting Roy's little mindfuckig games succeeding. What was he expecting - her to ditch her planned night and spend it with him just to prevent him going to a prostitute??

I think his primary motivation was trying to one-up her, knowing Roy...no one is safe from his competitiveness, not even Saoirse!!

I can’t help but wonder if Saoirse really doesn’t mind, or if she doesn’t mind because minding would mean laying a claim on Roy she isn’t ready for him to lay on her in return. Maybe, Roy, you should consider opening yourself up to her and expressing how her indifference makes you feel, rather than this passive-aggressive stance that’s reminiscent of a certain marriage that was loooong past expiring before it failed. Think of that donkey, Roy!

ah....very interesting! I think there’s a lot of merit in what you say. I can tell you that Saoirse genuinely doesn’t mind, (and in fact she has proposed she and Roy going to The Pony as a couple, and got turned on hearing about Roy’s exploits with Crystal when she was still living in Sunset Valley) but exactly WHY she doesn’t mind is a fascinating question. And yes, falling into old patterns of behaviour can only be damaging...thank you for recognising that! Hopefully Roy can too.

2020 writing review

I.. honestly wrote a lot this 2020. No kidding. Quarantine productivity was real, but so is residency languishing by the wayside while everyone was busy surviving and adjusting. I highly doubt 2021 will be the same, but I’ll always cherish 2020 just because of the writing and nothing else.

This is gonna be long.

FIRST CREATION + MOST RECENT CREATION OF 2020

8:15 am  - Final Fantasy XV. Lunafreya. February 2020. - First piece ever written for the year. - Intended to be a Luna-centric AU, in which the Nox Fleurets were deposed and she’s now a regular teacher. Never managed to write anything beyond that, though, because residency. (Back then, I didn’t know it was gonna be the beginning of the end, so I had hopes. Oh well.)

take heart - Bungou Stray Dogs. Dazai/Chuuya. Gods/Humans AU. - Discovered so much about myself writing this. Also (hopefully) I managed to get into Dazai’s headspace correctly. He’s an extremely difficult character to write, so finishing this brought so much gratification.

you don’t raise heroes, you raise sons - Final Fantasy VIII. Laguna, Squall. Post-canon. - Probably my most heartfelt work of the year- scratch that, ever. Also happy with how I just let myself go writing this and didn’t need to think twice.

A CREATION YOU’RE REALLY PROUD OF

oneiric moments (or, five nights with you) - Bungou Stray Dogs. Dazai/Chuuya. - Written for the SKK Fic Exchange for Summer 2020. - Five interconnected fics. 18,985 words. - Might not be a big deal for others, but this was taxing because I don’t usually write long, multichaptered stuff. I got carried away, though. It ain’t as well-polished as my more recent stuff, but I’m proud of myself for pulling this off.

I... don’t think I have tried anything of the sort. My repertoire is sorely limited compared to others, I’m afraid. I’d probably have an answer for “explored new themes,” but again, I’ve a limited arsenal, too, in that regard.

all in a day’s work - Bungou Stray Dogs. Atsushi, Akutagawa. Cells at Work AU. - It’s still being written, with a lot of side stories planned but never drafted. - I fell out of love with BSD, recovered from that, then got busy with residency.

But they’re both sisters! Just trust me on this. - The proper entry for this would be silencer, but I can’t very well mention one without the other, so have both anyway. I read both only this year, after all. Waiting for Godot by @eternal-aegis​ - Bungou Stray Dogs. Dazai, Fyodor, Chuuya. Canon-divergent. - Amazing theme, amazing philosophy, amazing writing. It makes you think. It makes you analyze and explore. This writer definitely knows her stuff, and it shows. Catharsis by @gladiowrites​ - Final Fantasy VIII. Rinoa, Gen. Caraway. Post-canon. - The denouement to the Caraway family drama we all deserve. I love how Rinoa is presented in this fic. She’s a normal person who makes mistakes and learns her lessons. So is Fury. Burned bridges don’t always have to stay down, and this fic illustrates that wonderfully.

Culmination by @gladiowrites​ - Final Fantasy VIII. Squall, Rinoa. Post-canon. - We can’t all have happy endings. This fic also illustrates that very well. While I, a Squinoa fan, personally ascribe to the happy ending Squall and Rinoa must have had after the events of FF8, this fic is so compelling and grounded and reflective and I totally buy this. 

Here Without You by @muselover1901​ - Akagami no Shirayuki-hime. Zen/Shirayuki. Real world quarantine AU. - One of the sweetest stories I’ve ever read this year. I can definitely relate to a lot of things in this fic. I’ve been rereading all of Muse’s ANS stuff whenever I feel down, and they all hit the spot.

Savor The Moment by @joeys-piano​ - Bungou Stray Dogs. Oda. Pre-canon. - Yes, yes, YES. One of the best stories I’ve ever read this year, ever. (And I mean stories, not fanfics.) Great character study about a man named Oda and a day in his life and a page (or three) out of his book of relationships. The love poured into this is simply overflowing and precious. I’ve been following Joey since this fic was being written, and I’m so proud of him.

False Equivalences by @slowquotesquill - Dai Gyakuten Saiban. Asougi, Ryuunosuke. Fullmetal Alchemist AU. - This fic also! Oh, My Heart. The cynicism of a state alchemist and the optimism of a foreign doctor. It perfectly hits the spot for everything FMA, and we all know that SQQ’s Asouryuu fics are always to die for. It’s the ultimate combo.

The whole Promptober Leo/Will/Despair series by @eternal-aegis - Kekkai Sensen. Various themes, many of which are dark/mature. - I’ve said this with Waiting for Godot, and I’ll say it again: Aegis knows her stuff. This is her exploring further in that direction, and you can feel the improvement with every fic in the series. I really love how adventurous these stories are, and how much depth you can go with every one. Her characterization is layered and exquisite, and the underlying lore is well-thought-out. - tl;dr: B3 Goddess.

Predestined by Galkimasera - Final Fantasy VIII. Rinoa, Squall. Reverse/Fateswap AU. - A very well-written reverse AU! The circumstances of Squall and Rinoa in this ‘verse fit so well and are so well thought out. I love this AU so much, you don’t even know. It also fills my nostalgic shipper’s heart with much joy at seeing quality content in this Year of our Lord 2020.

For auld lang syne, my dear by @by-nina - Fullmetal Alchemist. Roy, Riza. Canon-compliant + post-canon. - Holiday feels, snapshots through time, and all over showing Roy and Riza’s budding relationship over the years. And it does remind me of a lot of the SKK fics I’ve written (thematic-wise). This was such a treat to read and to follow. All her FMA fics are. She does Royai so much justice. Am not yet finished reading smoke without fire, but I’ll get to that, too!
