Oooh! What's Butterfly Effect about? I'm curious!
Tumblr media
I AM SO GLAD U ASKED
Tumblr media
I am, unfortunately, a huge Nuzlocke fan. A large part of why I love pokemon as a franchise so much is because of it's sandbox-y nature and the celebration of fans and even canon side content doing interesting spins on characters, stories, and scenarios (ie nuzlocke comics, pokespe, masters, etc). I also just adore the way that Nuzlockes provide new frameworks to play around with, and so I've been making stories out of my playthroughs for almost as long as I've been playing Pokemon at all. Butterfly Effect is one such story, and based off a playthrough of SwSh. I like the vibes of SwSh's plot but almost none of the story decisions, so I decided to really play around with everything the game presented to make my own version. One of the ways I often find plots is by adding a gimmick to the world and then worldbuilding and forming the plot from those constraints (for example, my Kanto story is based around the constant remakes all being canon at once, my Johto story is based off Legends-era stuff, my Hoenn story is based around the intersection of PMD and the mainline games, and my Unova story is based around a "bad ending" of BW)
For my Galar story, I decided to make the gimmick "what if like 30% of the population were gijinkas"? I ended up tying this heavily to the concept of Dynamax, and building the plot up around that and the power crisis (which I moved to the present day). The protagonists (there are three, Agnes, Tego, and Viking) end up wrapped up in the conflict and the shady dealings of the league just as everything comes to a head. It's more or less a fantasy story about nuclear energy but also there's dragons and radiation poisoning just turns u into a furry instead of killing you. If you look at the tag "story: butterfly effect" there's more info there-- I'm also going to make a post about the sliding scale of gijinka-ness and how that all works. Thanks for the questions and feel free to ask if anything is unclear / you want to know more abt anything specific :)

What did you think of the uni 2 arcade mode routes?
Hello I return after playing the uni 2 arcade mode routes.
take under cut
I hate them <3. World's most disappointing conclusion after a 4 year wait since the previous game and this isn't even just because there isn't a dedicated story mode . Ok now I will elaborate further.
Obviously I am not expecting a full story since they retired Chronicle mode entirely, and as a frame of reference I enjoy arcade mode story! I play kof games through arcade over and over to get story parts because I Like them and I enjoy seeing the perspective of different characters across the whole game. All this to say the story mode being put inside arcade mode is not the issue to me.
The part I hate is that the continuity in which every character starts is different and doesn't even clearly carry on from their route in the previous game or something, it's just a totally separate context given to you in their character blurb on the select screen. We don't even know where Kuon came from or what his grand plan was aside from comically "I going to destroy da universe with voids" there is no actual story aside from "Yeah we need a big boss villain character and the player character to go beat them to death for hero reasons". There isn't any actual reason for your mid-game fights, you just get a corny line of dialogue like "Oouuhgh I have to test you to see if you can fight Kuon for real" or "You're sooo stupid and I want to fight so bad we have beef now for no reason". It does not get any better and we do not get any actual motivations or character development from anyone, which I guess is a joke on me for maybe wanting any form of development in my silly visual novel fighting game characters.
Still, I spent a while trying to play through all of them so I could piece together the order of events to understand what happened in universe in Some way and I could not even make it through all of them because they read like shit, which brings me to my second point of
The translation is so ass. I don't know who they got to do the translation, but it reads like early Blazblue TLs with the characterization from crosstag. Which is fine in that game because everything is non canon and I don't care if they want to reduce the character to funny characteristic joke that sounds better in dub, but it sucks ass in a mainline story game where I'm actually trying to pay attention to what the character would have said according to the actual dialogue track, and I care way less about the "localization" or modernization of what they said. Months ago I was making a joke with @scharfkugel about the shitty TLs from crosstag and what it would be like if they were in uni 2 and it's genuinely funny how some of the lines have this exact vibe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
including the funniest receipt I have. Feels like we really put the last nail in the coffin for uni's story with this one
Tumblr media
Anyway.
I'm not making this post to rain on anybody's parade because I know the whole unib fanbase was waiting for very long for a new game without any expectations, I didn't have any until I paid triple A pricing in my region for this damn video game that didn't have functioning online on release and also did not give me a good singleplayer experience. If you enjoy the uni2 arcade modes, more power to you I'm glad you do but personally I can't believe the game released with these lol. legitimately reads like a joke

Yesterday when thinking about the Devil May Cry timeline. If you apply it to real life years...it's kind of insane. But also seeing someone on Reddit making a well thought out post about Dante's age...meaning my thought process was nearly possibly correct.
Tumblr media
But this all started because I was thinking about when Patty mentioned she was turning 18 in DMC5, and I learned Nero is 22-23 during that... My thought process was the idea...Dante and Vergil were born in 1973...meaning DMC3 was taking place in 1992...HOLY SHIT.
But if you go with this guy's post...that would be earlier...I'm sorry, this just really intrigued me. "Wait, you know Devil May Cry?" Yes, I have played the series when I was younger, and I still love it. I'm playing the Devil May Cry HD Collection on my PS5.
The FNAF saga is likely the reason why I am so interested in timelines. I think it's also good to count Resident Evil because that takes place in real time in a way. It's just interesting thinking about this shit to me personally.
Edit update, I'm trying to continue my Twitter thread with this. And shit, nearly forgot this and I don't want this because I just finished the thread.
Continuing on. Keep in mind I'm going by my head canon that the first Devil May Cry takes place in 2001. I'm just going to make my own version of the timeline. Mainly using the mainline games, Eva's death, some birthdates, & the 2007 anime because I loved that animated series. I'm glad it's considered canon now.
1973: Dante's & Vergil's birth.
1981: Eva's death.
1991: Nero's birth.
1992: DMC3.
1996: Patty's birth.
2001: DMC1
2004: DMC The Animated Series.
2005-2007: DMC2 is somewhere in there.
2008: DMC4.
2014: DMC5.

I'm glad humans of the Sonic world are (slowly) being reintroduced to the Sonic canon, even if they haven't shown up in the comics or mainline games yet, because otherwise it's like - where the fuck did Eggman come from??????

I have witnessed the Super Mario Bros Movie.
No spoilers... I can't give an unbiased opinion here.
I fucking loved that movie. For video game movies, it blows Sonic out of the water. And if I can be honest, I think the canon they served up here is miles better than what we get in the games. At least as far as mainline games go. They take some liberties with one characters backstory, but what they did change makes sense to me... however it does make some certain other characters a bit of a challenge to squeeze into later movies if they decide to go that route.
The characters were all very good. I think Peach is a little too much of a firecracker. I don't mean she's too capable, that's not at all what I'm saying, in fact, they handle her role in the movie perfectly and back up an opinion i've always had about Peach that spits in the face of everyone who calls her useless for getting kidnapped all the time... I just think they made her a bit smug and firey when that's really more of Daisy's thing. Peach will kick koopa ass but she'll do it with her pinky out clutching her parasol with an "oh did I win?" remark.
Toad is great, willing to throw down for his friends, not the coward many people think he is...
Can I be honest, I didn't hate Chris Pratt's Mario, it wasn't amazing but it didn't drag down the movie...
Donkey Kong was a bit of a Jock type character, which just kind of feels right for him, I know the DK gourmets at DK Vine will disagree, but it's always kind of been the vibe I got from the character ever since his reintroduction to the world by Rare.
Cranky was not quite what I wanted Cranky to be, but it works more for the type of character he is. He is a King in this movie. He's not an old codger that gives advice and makes fun of DK and Diddy.
Spike.... had like 5 minutes of screen time, I don't know why they bothered announcing his voice actor at all, but I'm still glad he's here... he looks WAY different than I was expecting, but at least they didn't take inspiration from Wrecking Crew 98.
I can go on and on...
There was two post credits, the first one was just a silly ha-ha thing, but the second one has implications for the next movie they're planning, and it can mean one of two things. A certain character who doesn't feature in this movie is getting their own movie, or, a certain character who doesn't feature in this movie is going to be heavily featured in the next movie. It was honestly kind of disappointing, all I can say is most of the speculators were wrong... and I actually was right, but not in the way I expected to be. In fact, this movie just threw my prediction out the window with the backstory change they made.
One thing that did put a big frown on my face was the credits...
This is the one spoiler that twitter and Seth Rogan already spoiled, but the DK Rap showed up in the movie. They actually used a non-remix, so right from the N64 game... All the songs in the movie got their proper credits.... EXCEPT FOR THAT ONE. I actually saw Grant Kirkhope upset on twitter about this, so I thought they actually just forgot to put it in the credits at all, but no, it's there... "DK 64 - The DK Rap" ...and that's it, they don't mention Grant Kirkhope at all. That os fucked up, and I think we fans have a duty to let Illumination know... I was hoping Grant would provide music for a potential Donkey Kong movie, but now they may have burned a serious bridge here.
Anyway...
If you like Mario, especially if you're a long time fan, go see this movie. It's really good.
That said, it doesn't do anything revolutionary in the story telling, so if you don't like Mario that much, it will just be an okay family movie. I can safely say it blew Sonic 2 out of the water.

I feel like this is a growing side effect of fans being starved from Tails being the non-action tech guy for so long to where Forces caused a boiling point for so many, some are latching onto Nine or IDW in spite of it. (I argue Tails got drowned out often even back then when characters like Shadow, Silver, and Blaze were a huge talking point back in the 2000s. But still in good standing before Unleashed and Colors.)
While I'm glad the movie and Prime made Tails in general a big talking point again; more positively this time, I am mixed on it coming at the expense of his Modern self. MOSTH and Modern being playable again later in Frontiers is a start, but he's probably not going to really shake this off until he goes solo for a bit in a upfront way. (That, and having more interactions outside of Sonic to show off more of his character. Love their bond, don't love how fans treat it so one-sided when discussing it.)
Anon, you're probably right.
(Though I don't really see what is there to latch onto in idw, he doesn't really do much? I wouldn't even say his characterization is bad, it's just that he kinda. Exists around. I see people hype up idw Tails and I'm like. Wow no wonder people think he's boring and lame if this is what passes for good Tails representation)
The thing with Unleashed and Colors is interesting, because I feel like the characters who had good early portrayals (the aforementioned Blaze, Shadow and Silver) but hadn't appeared since are still remembered as competent and cool characters because this characterization is still fresh in people's minds even though it was so long ago, while due to Tails having more appearances he's more remembered for the more recent ones... (and probably there's a part of "Why can't my supercool fave be in this game, why is Tails here, he's lame!")
I feel there's also the thing that all of those characters had very... impressive introductions. No matter how bad the writing for Shadow gets people can go back to his introductory game and remember what he was invisioned to be as a character, etc.
But Tails's backstory is all in the manual. He even has a little character arc (seeing Sonic, becoming more optimistic and learning to fly/run fast enough to keep up with Sonic, meeting Sonic for the first time and following him into battle), and it's not only only in the manual, it happens before the events of the game itself. Even Knuckles has more of a character arc/involvement in his introductory game plot. (This is how we ended up with early adaptations where Tails thinks that math is yucky and hard despite canon Tails literally being an engineer) Tails just. Doesn't get to make the same impression, and never will, because he's a 30+ old character and that ship has sailed. (And it's ironic to see how people latched onto Nine since he's technically having the same arc, it's just like you know... Show, don't tell. It really works. (And also he's angsty, that helps too))
Yeah... I love people being excited about versions of Tails from adaptations, but it really brings me down when people use them to talk shit about mainline Tails. You know what this reminds me of? When there's a new Scooby Doo adaptation and everyone is like "Finally they fixed Daphne so she's competent and isn't a damsel in distress anymore". And it's like. Do you know anything about Daphne. And. Why are you giving credit to the adaptation for doing something that has always been a thing?
I'm not expecting Frontiers to break through Tails's public image either, but I hope he at least has an enjoyable gameplay so people could be like "Wow that was fun! I wish Sega would make even more games where you could play as Tails!" :3c And then maybe we could get this "solo adventure".
(Though the way it's worded in Frontiers it's more of a "Tails is going to the mountains to train" than "Tails is becoming a solo operation". Like he clearly just wants to get "stronger"(in a broad sense of the word. Though personally I think what he actually needs is to stop basing his self worth on his usefulness and Sonic's opinions. Ironically if he was more like Sonic in this way he would be happier) and is expecting to get back to Sonic at some point. I could live with this though, I don't mind it at all as long as he's actually treated as Sonic's partner afterwards rather than a cute accessory that Sonic talks to so he doesn't look weird talking to the broken robots.)
I love tmosth! Ian Sr is such a good writer, honestly I don't know about his abilities to write a cool adventure plot, but he has the character voices nailed down! (Except for maybe kleptomania jokes with Rouge) But Tails was so good! He was basically a co-protag with Barry (they had a very cute dynamic), we saw him interacting with other characters who aren't Sonic (honestly he and Sonic barely interact with each other there at all), he took charge of the investigation and got to show off his smarts beyond "I fix this broken thing like it's magic"(Though he did that as well!), and he was still shown to be insecure and childish at times, it's just *clenches fist* so good.
Sorry had to take a break to gush, this post was becoming too negative ahaha. Ok back to it.
The Unbreakable Bond thing. Yeah... I also love their relationship, but the fact that Tails doesn't really have developed relationships with the rest of the cast makes him feel very isolated and like his life revolves around Sonic. Even Amy and Knuckles, whose most developed relationships are with Sonic as well, have other characters that they interact with without Sonic being involved, (or at least used to interact with), like Rouge or Cream. Who does Tails have? Professor Pickle? Barry? Please. Tails is getting suffocated by the soulmate bond.
(And I don't love to criticize how other fans engage with the franchise because I also have my silly headcanons and interpretations. Like. I literally hc Tails as nonbinary which he isn't, in canon, as far as I'm aware. But. Yeah sometimes it feels like people are more into the idea of Sonic having a little brother that he can dote on. Rather than, you know. Sonic & Tails's actual relationship. Like I literally saw someone say (genuinely as far as I could guess) "Sonic sacrificed so much to raise Tails" and like. Ok. It's time to step back a little and look at the actual canon content. Sonic didn't even know where Tails's house was in sa1, what exactly is he sacrificing with such attentive parenting I wonder. But I do also love cute brotherly bonding stuff so. (One of the reasons why I love aosth so much, though there are other reasons as well. Also while I'm complaining, nobody understands the "Mom, Dad and the Picket Fence" thing.))
Sorry if this post got a big edgy at times, sometimes I start going and slip into it a little bit, even though I'm generally trying not to complain too much about the stuff I don't like and instead focus on the things I do.

I really hate that they didn't let us make a real choice.
As always in mainline pokemon games, we're presented a dialogue "option" which is really just a choice between two ways to say the same thing. But for the first time in my pokemon playthroughs, the lack of choice was immersion breaking for me, because I would not fucking say that. Don't force me to say that. I don't want to, don't make me.
But in order to progress the game, there was no other option.
Fangames have well and truly proved that it is very possible to have games where the plot changes depending on your actions, so I really hope that someday soon the Pokemon Company starts implementing the same.
I just really wish they'd implemented it for the Teal Mask. I hated that. So much.
Spoilers bc I want to go more in depth with this than vagueblogging under the cut.
----------
Listen, what if they had implemented it? It could have been so easy.
If you choose to lie, you get to be better friends with Carmine but you alienate Kieran. You get the exact progression that happens canonically.
But. If you chose to tell the truth? You'd alienate Carmine, while becoming better friends with Kieran.
It would go from sparks to a flash fire - Kieran is glad that you were a good friend and told him, but he was eavesdropping - he knows that Carmine was going to lie to him and tried to make you do the same.
They argue - of course they do. They rarely do anything else.
Kieran says why wouldn't you tell me? I'm old enough to keep a secret if I have to, but we shouldn't have to keep it secret - you know I love the ogre- don't you love me?
Carmine says of course I love you - I want you to be safe, the townspeople would get so mad if you tried telling them, they would hurt you - how can you love some ogre you've never even met more than you love yourself?
Because it's not about being safe, or loving myself, Kieran shouts at her, it's about doing what's right! If everyone only cared about being safe instead of doing the right thing, then everyone would be a coward!
Don't call me a coward. Carmine storms off.
Kieran apologizes that we had to see that.
Grandpa tries to shuffle us past the awkward moment - well, I can get this mask fixed up, but I'll need some special crystals for it.
We make our errand runs, only to discover that Carmine, in her fury and blind rush to prove her bravery, has taken the mask and run off. We find her yelling angrily at the statues of the Lousy Three, the mask forgotten at her side - when we try to talk to her, she whips around and says what? Here to insult me some more? I'm no coward - I'll prove it! As soon as I beat you, I'm going to the ogre's den!
We have a battle, we win. As her final pokemon goes down, Carmine glares at the ground and her hands curl into fists. I'm not even strong enough to win against you - I'm never good enough!
In a moment of frustration, she punches the shrine - and the Lousy Three come back to life. The plot ensues as it does in the canon timeline.
At the end of it all though, Kieran agrees sadly that even though he really would've liked to have Ogerpon on his team, her choice of trainer matters. We'll just have to make sure to visit plenty!
But Carmine.... I want to prove that I'm not scared. I'm not scared of the ogre. And I'll prove it, by having it on my team. I want to battle you! I've gotten stronger since last time - if I win, let me catch Ogerpon!
She doesn't win - was never going to.
In the end, Kieran sees us off back home cheerfully, with an apology that my sister couldn't make it. (She said she had homework, but she's sulking, I think.)
Back in their childhood home, Carmine's bitter anger grows. Not good enough. Never good enough. I have to get stronger.

ok you know what i mean though right? (and btw im a different person from the other anon!)
Apologies, thank you for the distinction. I'm glad to share some of my thoughts about them, and please do correct me if I get some of the facts wrong, I am writing quite a bit.
Why do I ship Oceleva?
I'll include some personal context on their ship; as much as I love Ocelot, I was more interested in exploring things with EVA's character, and just generally drawing her more.
Changing public perception of Ocelot is a no for me, I will never try to pass off Oceleva, that is not platonic or on serious terms, as canon. It's important people research his character, and archive accounts and discussions over the development of his character are very important, and why they made him relate to Big Boss in that way.
I'll pick out points you made in the original ask, and try to explain what's interesting about Ocelot and EVA's relationship, regardless of what I'm shipping.
1 —
The first point was based on their on-screen interactions being negative.
The two times they appear are in MGS3 (1964) and MGS4 (2014), before the Patriots were established, and the one where all the founding Patriots had to die.
This is after the stories of MG1, MG2, MGS1 and MGS2 were established, so EVA would have been created, then killed with very little knowledge and emotional weight to her character.
In MGS3, Ocelot knew very early on EVA and Tatyana were the same people, and that she was a Philosophers' spy. He's extremely smug about the whole situation, dropping very obvious hints that she was lying about her role, but he couldn't kill her because he knew she was the key to get Snake out of the mission.
In MGS4, Ocelot is supposedly under the Liquid persona, so he would likely been out of character anyway. In a different scene, EVA recounts the history of the Philosophers from her perspective, and mentions her connection to Ocelot and Big Boss, with an apparent emotional connection with Ocelot.
In the novelization of MGS4, it's also implies she knew about their later joint plans to erase the existence of the Patriots.
EVA being part of the Patriots, then splitting to help Big Boss with the aid of Ocelot is an extremely important role, though most of it is only mentioned through exposition and small details.
2 —
The second point is the perception of them is different from them in the games.
In MGS3, they're not supposed to be how their perceived, they're both fronts. They're both liars for different reasons, but they're spies like how they were trained to be.
For EVA, she's just doing her job in reconnaissance, and obtaining a sum of money for her higher ups.
For Ocelot, he's working to eliminate branches of a hyper capitalist organization that steals children to put into petty proxy wars and missions for their own personal gain.
When Ocelot has any encounter with EVA, it's either to keep an eye on Snake, or to keep an eye on EVA so she wouldn't do anything out of line. Again, reiterating a previous point, he was very smug about knowing her gimmick.
3 —
I need to play the games again.
Yes, I do actually, and I will do it again. I've played most of the mainline games several times, it's my main fixation.
4 —
Last point is that EVA/Zero has more weight than EVA/Ocelot.
EVA said she disliked most of Zero's ideas of the revival of the Philosophers in her MGS4 monologue, and had more faith with Big Boss even if she knew he was wrong as well.
Maybe it's her being rescued, maybe it's their discussion after the Ground Zeroes events, maybe it's the Les Enfants Terribles project idk.
Even if I weren't shipping them, Ocelot and EVA would still have more connections and similarities as allies.
They're both heavily influenced and inspired by the Boss, as children raised by the Philosophers, and Big Boss as her successor.
They both witnessed the events at Tselinoyarsk.
They both worked to stop Zero's plans and ideas from proliferating; one example, by both planning the assassination of Paramedic.
They worked together for over four decades, under a cover people did not know about, against a scheme people did not know about.
As characters that are insanely unrealistic and live in a different world compared to us, it's fine to explore the weirder and less functional aspects of them. Their perception of relationships deviates from the norm, their morals are way different, the way they would comprehend of sex or love or just relating through experience is different. Which is what also makes things like Big Boss' and Ocelot's relationship interesting to explore as well.
My ideas of them are fluid, everything about either of the two characters I want to know more about, through talking with other people who also have cool headcanons.
I have one where Ocelot's orientation is closer to ace or demi, I have one where he's trans, I have one where EVA is ace, I have one where they both go on missions. I have one where Ocelot and Big Boss met as ghosts at the end of MGS4, like at the end of MGS3 with the Boss and the Sorrow.
I don't think I'll delve into less grounded headcanons but there are a lot of other reasons why I took up the whole Oceleva shipping thing.

Hey! I followed you because I think your art is super funky and awesome and cool and I've been mildly interested in Sonic for awhile now. Most of my content is very secondhand, like commentary videos and the Snapcube dubs.
To make a long story short, I want to get into Sonic. Like for realsies. There's so much content out there and I don't know anyone personally who enjoys it, so how do you suggest I approach this?
Aw thank you so much I'm glad you like my art!!
It really depends on what you're most interested in! Sonic is a franchise that spans different mediums and has been on-going for a long time, so there's a lot of content with very different vibes and varying levels of quality (though that's subjective of course).
I'd say that probably the best way overall to get familiar with the characters and world as a newcomer is to read the IDW comics! They're very well-written, have gorgeous art, and are easily accessible to new fans while still having lots of references to previous installments. They take place directly after Sonic Forces, but they summarize the events of that game so don't worry about needing that context. There's also a couple of mini-series to check out!
There's the games of course, which are the main canon that the IDW comics build off of/are technically a part of. I would personally recommend Sonic Adventure 2, it's my favorite game and though basically everyone calls it their favorite, like, it's for a reason. SA2 for me is the best game overall, as its story is great, the gameplay is fun and works perfectly alongside the story, and it's just full of charm. It's the most cohesive Sonic game imo, everything feels so interconnected and masterfully woven together, I love playing it. Don't be scared off by the "2" in the title btw, though there are some elements from Sonic Adventure that are referenced, you can still totally enjoy it without knowing anything about the first game as it's mainly standalone.
^ (also sidenote but sa2's story got a littleee muddled by the english localization, its not the worst but i'd recommend this video that goes over the story in detail with an emphasis on the original japanese script. there used to be an upload of the jp cutscenes with faithful eng subtitles but unfortunately last year the channel got nuked and there weren't any backups T_T im still not over it)
When it comes to recommending games it sort of depends on whether you plan on actually playing them yourself or just watching someone else play them, because there's a lot of Sonic games that have really good stories but subpar gameplay, or games that don't really have a story but good gameplay. Also everyone has their own preferences when it comes to types of games so there's that too.
Sonic is a franchise that both sort of has an overarching story (or at least they did back in the early 2000s when the games had a story that was built upon with each game, something that we might be finally returning to with Sonic Frontiers!) and also has many games and cartoons where they're kind of separate from all of that and function as standalone stories or just take place in their own universes entirely. There's many different canons across the different mediums, but the main one is the mainline games + IDW + now Sonic Prime on Netflix, which is apparently also canon to the main game canon!
Sorry if this is overwhelming >< it's a big franchise with a lot of different stuff and different canons and a wonky timeline so it's sort of hard to pinpoint the exact things a new fan """"should"""" check out. I'd say check out the IDW comics and then see if any of the games (or just their cutscenes in a compilation on YouTube lol) spark your interest!
And I say this every time I get these kinds of asks about a fandom I'm in, but PLEASE feel free to send me another ask or even shoot me a dm if you're comfortable if you want more specific advice or are confused about something, I literally love nothing more than talking about sonic the hedgehog at length. (Although I'd prefer if you sent them to my main @infizero as I use this account mainly just for art ^_^)
Anyways I hope this helped in some way ToT

That PowerWash interview did wonders for how people perceive Patthew, because when he ended up trending for the billionth time because of his recent FN.aF theory, people finally tore tf into Fre.ddit instead of him.
Actually, now that I think about it, SB having enough down time to sit with people and let them reflect on it might have contributed, as well, which he partially mentions at the start of the video, along with the over-merchandising.
I'm glad, because the only thing he's been trying to do with these theories for YEARS now is nudge it towards a satisfying ending. That's literally it. And that is consistent with what he said to Mark during his interview, which is that the capitalistic trends in content creation and storytelling have been choking out artistic intent, which is something he isn't a fan of. It's something that he cared enough about to make an individual, focused video on.
I really hope that Ruin DLC makes major strides to redeem the story and fix the clownshit that happened all throughout SB. Bless their hearts for being fans, but Scott and SW fucked up everything by trying to make that game an omnigame crammed with references that were all also active canon.
And while I'm a fan of slashers coming back in silly ways, what they did with William was a disservice to both his character and the story. They should have started by fleshing out Glit.chtrap and having him get a new body built after letting him have enough time in the story. Like at least 1 or 2 games, if you're going to focus on the "always comes back" thing.
But who knows. I figured I'd never be back into either Mark or pokemon, but they both pulled major turnarounds that made me love them again. I'm sure mainline FNa.F will do the same at some point.

I may like your theoretical game more than any of the mainline games 👀 you do such a fantastic job in making everyone a fully realized and interesting character and the “level design” you’ve done for each is super thematically appropriate and interesting! This whole project just feels super well realized for a game that doesn’t even exist, which is a crazy cool feat!
Oh woah, that's very nice of you!! I'm just putting out an idea I think would be cool and I’m glad other people think so too :D
It’s really fun to explore stuff like this especially when the game/franchise/series leaves it open enough to give my own reasoning behind something; this spawned from the idea “how did the future foundation manage to grab all of the remnants?” When the game’s already making so many AUs, why not try my own that tries to be canon-compliant?

Yesterday, I had a blast interacting with a blogger about Shez. We made fun of how they're a salty edgy rival who happens to ironically take their rival's place in this weird retelling of Fodlan. Needless to say, they welcome the grape merc with open arms, just cause they're character is a jobber that got their ass whooped by the in-universe overrated mute merc. And I agree, as it'll be FUN for Edelgard to make goo-goo eyes on someone who canonically might have skewed priorities for revenge.
I'm glad to see that Shez appears already to have something resembling an actual personality, even if it's not one that interests me all that much and even if it's in a spin-off set in a genre that isn't exactly known for deep characterization. I have a feeling that Three Hopes, like the first FE Warriors and like Heroes, is going to coast heavily off its characters' mainline appearance and that we won't' see anything radically unexpected.
Even Edelshez (is that what it's going to be called?) just confirms that Edelgard is even more Hot for Player than she is Hot for Teacher. Kind of reminds me of another game where a character develops an explicit attraction to the person behind the Avatar, out there in the real world.

...Yeah, that one.

The thing I associate with you most is Throne3. I especially love hearing all your Gascon/Reynard thoughts
Awww, I'm glad! I love them so much and I cannot believe the Throne3 isn't a more popular pairing! Just look at the canon!!! They are THE trio of the game!
Anyway, I have great news! I just started a new series and while it's technically not Gascon/Reynard (at least not yet), it IS about how they become friends. Also friends with Meve, but the bulk of the series is really Gascon & Reynard.
So I started today wanting to work on 1 fic, the idea of which I came up with several days ago. And then I thought of another related idea and ended up writing the first part of what will be a companion piece to that first fic, once I write it. And then I had an idea for a follow up/sequel to the two pieces with Meve. At which point it became a series XD
Also oops, I forgot to work today
More details under the cut for anyone who doesn't wanna be spoiled!
Okay, so this series is 3 parts (so far). The name of it is "The Beginnings of a Beautiful Friendship", titled, of course, for the closing scene of Casablanca. The first two pieces occur simultaneously, but one is Reynard's POV and one is Gascon's POV. They fill in the gaps between each other's stories, but also kinda focus on different things. So first off:
Like a Teddy Bear
The Duke of Dogs had a habit of drinking and partying with his Strays until he passed out in the mess hall. General Reynard Odo had a habit of watching him to make sure he didn’t pull anything. Naturally, this leads to Reynard stuck carrying Gascon’s drunken ass ‘home’ to their shared tent.
This fic is aaaaaall about cuddling lol. It's Reynard's POV starting immediately post-escape from the capital. It's their first night in camp together, they've already received the unfortunate news that they don't have enough tents, so people gotta double up. So guess who Reynard is stuck with? XD (this is my general hc, btw, and not just because it's convenient to get them to interact)
Anyway, Reynard is suspicious of Gascon and spends all evening glaring at him as Gascon drinks and parties with the Strays. Eventually, Gascon passes out and Reynard gets bullied into taking him back to their shared tent. Except Gascon is the clingiest cuddler ever, ESPECIALLY asleep 😂 So Reynard gets stuck with koala!Gascon clinging to him as he hauls his drunk ass back to their tent. Gascon also does not let go easily, so Reynard has to bribe him with other things to cuddle.
But after a few days, Reynard notices a trend. Every single night, Gascon drinks himself to sleep. And eventually, he has to ask why.
Which leads us to
Innocence Eroded Into Nightmare
Gascon Brossard may be young, but he’s experienced plenty of the worst of life. Experience of that kind tends to stick with a person – and in Gascon’s case, it does, in the form of nightmares. He’s tried for years to find different ways to stave them off – from mainlining fisstech to avoid sleep to drinking himself into a dreamless stupor. But lately, his coping mechanisms haven’t been working very well.
This one is Gascon's POV and we get to learn about the nightmares that haunt him, but also the coping mechanisms he uses. Problem is, it's not working so well anymore.
It's not uncommon for a substance to eventually stop giving you what you want from it, and in Gascon's case, what he wants is not to dream. And he's tried a number of drugs, both uppers and downers, but alcohol is the easiest to get his hands on. And it works.
Until it doesn't. Then he has a problem and starts to panic, because his nightmares are not exactly quiet either and he really doesn't want to wake the whole camp up screaming. Bad enough when it happened around the Strays, but now they've got a fucking queen and a ton of soldiers who are already all judgemental about them.
So he looks for other options to stave off dreams. Maybe some weed, maybe a sleeping draught from the medics, etc. And they sort of work. His dreams don't start as nightmares, not always. But they always end as nightmares, and his screams don't wake up the whole camp, but his bunkmate is a light sleeper, which means they have to talk about shit. We know how much they love that.
But also, this whole time, Reynard has been hauling Gascon's traumatized ass back to their tent and bribing him to stop cuddling. I think maybe the transition point is a combo of Gascon refusing to let go and also maybe waking up enough to be all affectionate and kissy. And Reynard Does Not Do That, so they have another serious conversation and somehow Reynard gets talked into cuddling anyway???? But after a while, he relaxes into it and they actually sleep together pretty well cuddled up with each other. And it's not perfect, but cuddles from a bed partner does help stave off Gascon's nightmares, not least because Reynard is a light sleeper and will pull him closer if he starts to get all restless.
So by the end of it, they've kind of reluctantly started to become friends. And that friendship includes platonic cuddling and sleeping together.
But where's Meve during all of this?
Okay, I don't have a title yet, but here's the summary.
Reynard and Gascon appear to slowly be becoming friends, and Meve is glad for that, she really is. But she can’t help but feel a bit left out. How this leads to walking in on them sleeping together, she really doesn’t know.
And tbh, all I really know is that Reynard is mortified and trying to struggle away from Gascon and explain that it's not what it looks like. Meanwhile, Gascon is clinging to Reynard and sleepily invites the Queen to join them.

Hahaha, I'm glad you're interested! ^^ Well, each Final Fantasy is its own game (in the mainline saga anyway), simply borrowing elements from the series, such as classes, spells, some reoccurring names... So you can start by any FF, really ^^ Cloud and Tifa are from FF7, where the games aren't as traditional as the ones before, but it's still a really good game! I'd advise you start with Final Fantasy IV, because it's the one I started the series with, but then you can start with any one.
I'd recommend starting with the GBA ones though, simply because the GBA emulator is easiest to install^^ (I could guide you through it, although it's not that hard hahaha). The first games (until 7) have had a mobile port, but I've heard it's not that good and that the GBA ones are better, but then it's your choice ^^ (although you have to pay for the mobile version). So yeah, if you want to get into it, you can start with FF IV, in the GBA version! If you need any info I'll be happy to help ^^
Since they’re older games, I’m guessing they won’t require much setting-changing?
Cool! My PC isn’t that powerful but I’m sure it will be able to handle handle at least that. LOL
I see.. Are they major canonical changes? ;v; Thank you very much. It’s been awhile since I’ve properly played any RPGs. I had been playing Xillia and I was 99% finished with it before new game+ but ragequit on these bosses. (and they were mini-bosses too..I’m truly atrocious at video games. welp)
