I think some people don't realize (and I don't want to say "or don't care" but ya know...) that Damien doesn't want to be just associated with Smosh? Like he even has a rule on his streams about it lol

So like when people were sort of demanding(?) answers or reactions from him (or anyone really) it was super weird...

no matter how close they are (or how close we think they are) we are not entitled to know everything and they don't need to talk to us about their private lives,, even more so Damien who is very private 😬

I'm not gonna screenshot it bc 1/it really doesn't matter that much and 2/the person who made the comment is a kid but: a while ago I made a comic that's supposed to be a genuine study and reinterpretation of someone else's sprite comic (made in the spirit of authenticity too - to recreate the vibes of the sprite comics from that era, iirc very specifically because it's funny) and I got a comment on that comic's post that's like "glow up"

which is a compliment obvs. and the commenter probably didn't mean anything by it, it's a common expression. but I've been trying to find a way to gracefully put that comment away ever since it appeared lol

I just very much don't want my art to be taken as trying to one-up someone else's art when that's not the piece's intention. especially when the piece that inspired my art is perceived as "low effort" or "shitpost" or stuff like that. I did mention in the tags of that post that my considering it a study is entirely genuine, and I can legitimately write pages about the cool stuff I find in it other than and inherent in the haha funneys, but that's not for you guys that's for me. I just think that approaching art competition-first like that is a miserable way to do it, and (tipping into overthinking here if the whole tiny-comment-got-stuck-in-my-brain-for-almost-a-month part hasn't given that away yet lol) I really don't want that to be the takeaway from my own art. at least generally. if I actually think the source material is trash and what I'm doing is genuinely categorically better I'd just come out and say it lmao

hopefully my last flatmate rant but hello this is not a drill, I got a spot in a student dormitory!! I'll know tomorrow when exactly I can move in but it will probably be very soon, and as soon as I know, I'm letting my landlord know I'm leaving and why exactly and be petty as hell on my way out and enjoy my new freedom 🥳🥳🥳

#it's a dorm by the airport so let's see if the windows there rattle like the ones in my old dorm did lol #it's a single bedroom with a shared bathroom and floor-wide shared kitchens which is not the room I was hoping for but #it's cheaper than my room now and maybe I can move to one with a kitchenette in march and until then it's fine #i've spent five years in a dormitory with shared kitchens; it's fine #let's see if 'the stench' miraculously disappears when I tell those [redacted] I'm leaving and they'll coincidentally have someone #they want to move in here. i kinda hope so just because it would mean less effort to find a new tenant for me #and my friend suggested letters to the neighbors saying goodbye and telling them who's been putting wine bottles in the plastic trash #and slamming doors at 2am #which i probably will. yeah. those two have made my life really unpleasant in just six weeks to the point I'm moving out #of an apartment I really like that's conveniently located and has a balcony.
