The dog bed and children books in professor's lab seem to suggest that Arven probably spent lots of time in the lab when he was small. From the journals in the research labs we learnt that the professor only started working underground when their research reached certain progress. They even took the picture of young Arven from lab down with them to Area Zero and pinned it in one of the most obvious spot.
Anyway what i am trying to say is the professor definitely loved Arven a lot but Arven was too young to remember the time he spent with his parent and now I feel even more sad for him 😭

Arven Fluff Alphabet
finally more arven content! thanks to the anon who requested this (sorry for the wait homie)
mostly wholesome fluff, a little bit of angst regarding arven's backstory, sv spoilers and gn! reader
A = Activities (what do they like to do with their s/o? how do they spend their free time?)
It goes without saying but he loves cooking with you and for you. Even if you just sit on his bed while and chat with him while he makes you lunch, it makes him so happy to be doing his favourite thing with his favourite person. If you do want to take part, he’ll gladly make you his little sous-chef, or teach you how to cook if you haven’t before. Things get a little chaotic in the kitchen when you’re taking part, but that’s the best part.
Although the two of you have already explored Paldea together, he still loves when you two head out on an adventure (that includes a picnic obviously) where you wander around, taking in the beauty scenery, battling Pokémon, gathering ingredients, holding hands and enjoying each other’s company.
While neither of you particularly consider studying as a ‘fun’ activity, it is much easier when you study together. The two of you hunker down in one of your dorms and spend the afternoon making notes, helping each other solve equations, understand concepts and badly practise languages. He may be a year ahead of you, but you have some overlap in classes, and you still do your best to help and encourage him with stuff that’s above your grade-level.
He likes gaming with you too! He’s not a big gamer or anything, but he likes when you bring your switch over and you two play Mario Kart or Smash Brothers together. It’s usually fun and silly, but both of you can be quite excitable and competitive!
B = Beauty (what do they admire about their s/o? what do they think is beautiful about them?)
Arven really admires your loyalty and kindness. When the two of you first met, he wasn’t the best, most considerate person, he wasn’t used to talking to people, and he was wrapped up in worry about Mabostiff at the time, but that doesn’t excuse his less than stellar behaviour. But still, you helped him, even before you knew why he needed your help.
In terms of your looks…. Arven thinks you’re so damn CUTE! Cuter than a freshly kneaded fidough (sweeter too). Your eyes, your smile, it just makes his heart melt every time. He can never me mad at that cute face.
C = Comfort (how do they help their s/o when they feel down? what makes them feel better?)
His immediate response is to wrap you up in a big, warm, tight hug. He’s not really sure how to verbally comfort someone (and he’s not going to talk to you like he talks to his dog) so he just hugs you close, gently holding your face to his chest and brushing your hair, letting you know you have someone there to protect and comfort you. He won’t say much at all, mainly because he doesn’t know what to say. But he’ll listen. And sometimes that’s all you need.
Plus, you can’t go wrong with a homecooked meal or a baked treat!
He’s not used to being comforted by people. The comfort he’s used to receiving is Mabostiff slumping against him, and he has to wipe away his own tears. Having you comfort him is jarring at first, it’s alien to him, but he settles into it. He likes when you play with his hair, that really relaxes him. Since you’re a person, you actually understand what he’s saying, so it makes him feel better to know you comprehend what’s troubling him.
He also really loves when you just talk to him. Just saying soft and sweet comforting things to him. It’s a small gesture but it means the world.
D = Dreams (how do they picture their future with their s/o and in general?)
Although it’s a recent decision, he is very set on the idea of being a chef, and he’s already taking steps to reach his goal. He’s not sure if he wants to work in a restaurant, or open his own, or run a little stall or food truck, or even in the school cafeteria. As long as he’s cooking though, he’ll be content.
In terms of getting married and having kids, he, he doesn’t want to think about that right now. You’re both still very young, and he has a lot of… complicated feelings around the subject (rightfully so). But what he does know, is that he wants you by his side, always.
He is not looking forward to graduating before you. He’s gonna miss you so much :( even though you’ll still be able to hang out.
E = Equal (are they the dominant one in the relationship or are they rather passive?)
While he does have his bursts of assertion, it’s typically you. You suggest dates, you initiate affection, you steer the ship so to speak. He likes it though, he’s never been in a relationship before so he doesn’t know what he’s doing... but he also likes how he can be the one in charge if he wants, and you have no issue.
F = Fight (how quick are they to forgive their s/o? what are they like in an argument? who says sorry first?)
Arven isn’t the most emotionally mature person. Sure, he had to grow up faster than most, but he doesn’t have the best approach to conflict thanks Sada and Turo. He’s still a teenage boy too.
So, when he argues, he has a habit of blaming the other party, even if he’s at fault. He shouts and flails his arms and pulls at his hair, it can actually be quite scary, considering his build (but of course, he would never lay a hand on you.)
As a result of his upbringing (or lack thereof), it can take him a while to forgive you, even longer to admit fault. He will simmer with his anger by himself, sulking, until his love for you slowly starts to creep back in and soften him up again. He loves you, he misses you… why is he making this harder for the both of you?
He is getting better though.
G = Gifts (what kind of things do they gift to their s/o? are they spontaneous or do they stick to special events like anniversaries?)
When Arven gives gifts, he doesn’t realise that’s what he’s doing. He just thinks he’s looking out for you. It’s typically some kind of homemade snack, or battle items, or school supplies, or even a cute plush or keyring. If he thinks you might need something, or it’ll make you smile, it’s worth every penny/ounce of effort.
For something like your birthday or anniversary, he puts a lot of thought into getting you something you’d like. Typically, instead of getting you one big present, he gets you lots of small ones, basically making you up a goodie bag of thoughtful items.
H = Heart Eyes (what are they like in love? is it obvious to others? how do they express their love? do they brag about their s/o to others?)
Even before you were together, it was so obvious that he was in love with you Penny had a field day fr. All blushy and happy, constantly thinking and talking about you. He constantly wants to touch your hand and squeeze it. And when you do get together, it’s basically the same, but now he CAN hold your hand.
He’s not super great with words or affection, but those little hand squeezes and big hugs and that look full of adoration tells you all you need.
Arven is your biggest fan hands down, he thinks you’re the coolest thing since sliced bread. He doesn’t even realise he’s bragging, he just loves gushing about how awesome you are <3
I = Impression (what first attracted them to their s/o? how accurate was their first impression to how their s/o actually is?)
He didn’t realise it at first, so oblivious to his own feelings, but he thought you were so cute. Just so cute and pretty. His brain rationalised it into you being helpful and trustworthy (which to his credit, you are)
J = Jealousy (do they get jealous easily? how do they deal with it?)
ARVEN IS SO JEALOUS! Jealous of literally anybody who interacts with you. And he was like that in your friendship too. You saw how he bickered with Nemona over which one of them was your best friend. It just extends into your relationship.
When he feels particularly threatened, he gets a little huffy and sulky, grabbing your hand, urging you away from the person, sometimes even standing between you and them. He’s not the kind of person who’ll blame you for his jealousy, nor will he stop you meeting up with people he’s jealous of.
His jealousy is born from insecurity and his abandonment issues. Both his parents, people who were supposed to love him unconditionally, left him at different points in his life, and he is so worried you’ll do the same.
K = Kiss (are they a good kisser? what was their first kiss like? where do they kiss the most?)
Arven gives two kinds of kisses; tender, brief, almost unsure kisses, and abrupt, passionate, nigh on suffocating kisses.
Your first kiss was the former. His heart was thumping in his chest as he held your hands in his own, blushing softly as he looked down at you before leaning in, and pressing a brief, but gentle kiss against your lips, smiling all the while. Afterwards, he turned ever redder and started apologising. Poor baby
He loves to kiss your all over your face and your hands. Especially your hands. He likes absentmindedly kissing your knuckles and fingertips.
L = Little Things (what are the little things they love about their s/o? are they attentive?)
He loves your smile, the twinkling in your eyes, how close you like to stand and sit next to him, when you brush his hair away from his face.
He especially loves all the small things you do to make his life easier, like organising his bag, or helping him with his notes or looking after Mabostiff.
M = Marriage (do they want to get married? how do they propose? what would the wedding be like?)
Arven… Arven doesn’t know if he wants to get married, you can blame his parents’ failed relationship for that. And you’re both still so young.
He does think about it sometimes though, it’s not a definite no from him. He does like the idea of setting your love in stone, and having a very small wedding, even in a courthouse, could be nice.
If he were to propose, it would be at home. He’d make your favourite meal, you’d eat it by candlelight, and then he’d ask you. Though in reality, you’re more likely to propose.
N = Nicknames (what do they call their s/o? what do they get called?)
He still calls you ‘little buddy’ because that’s who you are! You’re his little buddy and his s/o and he LOVES you. Your partner should be your best friend, right?
Though, in private, he likes to call you ‘Honeybun’ because you’re just as sweet as one! Penny heard him call you ‘Honeybun’ once and she died.
You sometimes call him ‘Arv’ or ‘Arvy’, and even nicknames like ‘babe’ and ‘sweetie’. He gets very flustered when you call him the last two. In a good way
O = Open (do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? is it easy for them to share?)
You probably know more about Arven than he does about himself. Being friends first, you were there for the whole journey saving Mabostiff, and your adventure to Area Zero, where you learned more about his parents, and their fates. So, Arven really doesn’t have much to hide from you anymore.
In saying that, he’s still not the best with his emotions, and he tends to keep them to himself. You are pretty adept at noticing when he’s brooding, and you are always happy to lend an ear, so you do find out what’s going on in the end.
P = Pancakes (are they a good cook? how often do they cook for their s/o? breakfast in bed or fancy dinner dates?)
We all know Arven has an exceptional cooking skill. And he loves to cook too, for you specifically. It makes him feel needed, like a provider, cooking for you. You rarely eat cafeteria food now, when Arven makes you a delicious breakfast, scrumptious lunch and mouth-watering dinner, all out of the kindness of his own heart and a few kisses <3
When you do go out for food, you tend to just go to a little café or a food stall, nothing fancy, but that’s not the point! The point is the two of you enjoying some good grub as you spend time together!
Q = Quirk (a random quality/ability that is beneficial to their relationship.)
Arven runs hot, and he dresses warmly too. So, if you’re ever cold, you basically have your own portable heater (that cooks (and cuddles!)). He can just wrap himself around you in a big hug to heat you up in no time!
R = Romance (how romantic are they? are they cliché or creative?)
Arven is trying his best to be romantic, because he thinks you deserve it, he’s just not 100% sure how to go about it. Cooking for you is romantic, but he doesn’t see it like that, ironically enough.
He just gets you little gifts and hopes it’ll be enough for you.
S = Sleep (who falls asleep first? do they need their s/o close to them? do they have any bad habits?)
You two don’t normally sleep next to each other, only when camping and occasionally a nap when you’re supposed to be studying. Usually, it’s you who falls asleep first, and you blame Arven for being so warm and squishy, however if you are playing with his hair, he will be out like a light.
When you do sleep next to each other, he loves to cuddle you the entire time, having you next to him makes him feel so content.
And of course, Mabostiff inevitably joins you two, by slumping on top of you both and crushing you a little but he’s still the best doggie
T = Thrill (do they need to spice up their relationship with new things or do they stick to a routine? how often do they do new things?)
Arven actually really likes the routine and mundanity of your relationship. After all, he’s not really used to such stability, so he finds comfort in it. Not to mention, being in a relationship is still so new to him, he doesn’t want to overwhelm himself by going too fast or trying new things.
However, if you want to try something, he will probably join you, after some convincing of course or just grabbing his hand and dragging him to it lol
U = Unity (did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? what traits do they share?)
Your friendship, and now, relationship, showed him that he didn’t have to do it alone. That he could reach out and get support and companionship. That he deserved love and care and kindness. And he is endlessly grateful for that.
V = Value (how important is their relationship to them? what is it worth compared to other things in their life?)
With the amount of comfort and happiness you’ve brought him, you are probably the most important living thing to him, alongside Mabostiff. You really do fill every day with joy and light, even just a touch of your hands makes him grin like a schoolkid with a crush (which is partially true)
W = Wild Card (a random fluff headcanon.)
He has become your guineapig (would that be a dedenne in this context?) for hairstyling. He loves it, of course. He doesn’t care if he looks silly afterwards, he loves the feel of your hands on his hair.
X = XOXO (do they like to kiss and cuddle? are they upfront about their relationship or rather shy when in public?)
This boy is so incredibly touch starved… all he ever wants to do is hug you close to him, burying his face in your hair and inhaling your scent OR he wants to put his hands on your cheeks and kiss you all over your cute face until your giggling and telling him to stop.
The feel of your softness and warmth against him just makes him all gooey inside, sometimes he just likes slumping himself against you, just to feel you.
So awkward and flustered, he doesn’t really engage in PDA, aside from holding your hand. Occasionally, he will give you a quick kiss in public to say goodbye, but he usually ushers you off to the side to do so.
Y = Yearning (how do they cope when they spend time away from their s/o? do they miss their s/o?)
He does not cope well with your absence. With the two of you being so young, your relationship so new, and basically spending all your time together, it’s inevitable that he gets attached. So, when you’re away on the Kitakami trip, he falls into a slump, missing his little buddy terribly. Every time his phone goes off and it’s not a text from you, his heart breaks a little.
He makes sure to call you every day, trying to hide how much he misses you even if it’s obvious. He doesn’t want you to feel bad for this awesome opportunity, but it’s hard for him without his honeybun!
He will smother you with hugs and kisses when you get back and he will cry
Z = Zoo (do they have pets? do they want some in the future?)
Of course, Mabostiff is your 3’7” 61kg 10+ year old baby. He’s definitely treated more like a pet than the rest of your Pokémon.
With the exception of you -aidon, who Arven has slowly learned to tolerate and love over the last few months.

Hey!if you write for Arven would you be willing to do platonic Headcanons for him?
Yes I could! I haven't been writing on here but I am open to it!
(Just to let you guys know though I am in school full time so I might be a little slow haha, here's a short post!) This could potentially be interpreted as romantic! There isn't any romance explicitly stated but they are kind of close/friend date scenarios almost just to let you know!
__________________________________________________ Some platonic moments with Arven might include: Going out into the forest to forage for ingredients, since you two already made such a duo trying to hunt for Herba Mystica! He's constantly reading new foraging books and is very careful, it almost makes you wonder why he doesn't do so hot in his other classes. He does have reading glasses, but he's too embarrassed to wear them in front of others. That could partly be the reason why he's been flunking, but then again a big part of passing class is showing up and he's the type to want to be everywhere but the classroom (except for Mr. Saguaro's class of course!) Sitting in fields and having picnics, making sandwiches together! Arven is a next-level chef so he carries around a mini hot plate and pan so he can cook things up on the spot, and most of the time it ends up incredible. ...Sometimes though, you've both been prone to burning certain ingredients or accidentally mixing the wrong things. Not to mention how often you drop stuff. Those sandwiches often go to Koraidon and Miraidon because they're quantity over quality type lizards.
If it weren't for his health, Mabostiff would also be feasting. Arven is really careful with his diet, and you're not sure his dog friend always likes being denied a gross burnt burger sandwich but it just goes to show how much Arven really cares. You both like to take naps in the grass, but you've found him snoozing in some very odd locations. He's usually propped against a rock or tree in the shade, or lying with his arms folded. Needless to say, you have nearly tripped over him before because he literally will choose any spot that looks like it might be even remotely comfortable.
He doesn't seem like it, but Arven is an incredibly strong trainer, and if he put his mind to it he could absolutely beat the gym challenge. You never really catch him training, but his Pokemon eat Michelin-star-level meals daily so you're starting to think that might be the secret to his incredible strength. Speaking of strength, he suffers from mild back pain from carrying that huge heavy pack around 24/7, but he'll still do wild and crazy things. He's not the most outwardly athletic in terms of sports but he's really good at hiking and climbing, and he's gotten very strong physically from exploring Paldea. When exploring, he's constantly trying to feed you. He's not the type to pull out trail mix either, he'll literally stop and park in the middle of nowhere if he finds out you haven't ate in a while and will sit there and angry-cook a whole meal in front of you. You do annoy him a little sometimes, but you think that he might have such a hyperfocus on food because of his childhood. It's not a fun topic for him though so you never try to pry. He knows you're a busy person, but somehow you always find time for each other. You're still attending the academy together at least, so it's not hard for him to stop by and check in on you. He's been barred from wandering off too far because of his grades, but you're not going to rat him out for sneaking out (partly because you come along and could get in trouble for encouraging him.)

your father should know, pt. 3
Arven leaves you with something more than either of you bargained for when he goes off to Kalos for an internship, and through a series of miscommunications and heartbreak, he returns a few years later to learn that he actually has a child.
arven x fem!reader, nsfw content (in pt. 1), pregnancy (pts. 1, 2, & 2.5), angst, and stupid miscommunications
[part 1][part 2][part 2.5]
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY I'M BACK. pls be aware that this got WAY too long so it's gonna have to be another part or two before we actually get to the happy ending that i promised. yes this will still have a happy ending. i won't hurt arven or the baby like this lolol. the skeleton for the rest of the fic is already written, i just need to flesh it out, given it some muscle, organs, and maybe cute accessories.
ANYWAY I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS PART. please thank my mega awesome beta Katie for her help with this too. she's my rock.
---
The ceiling rattles.
"So. How'd you get here today?"
"I, uh... I took my cyclizar?"
Rika nods and takes note of the answer. The not-so-distant sound of muffled battling can be heard through the thick walls of the League building.
"What brings you to the Pokemon League today?" Rika goes on as if nothing is happening.
"Badda!" The little one sitting on her lap shouts. Rika pats his head without looking away from the student in front of her. "Shh. Let her answer my questions first."
Basil babbles a bit in response, some of his words making sense.
"To...become a champion?" The student replies.
"Good, good..." Rika continues on with the rest of the interview, asking different questions and going back and forth with the kid in front of her.
"Okay," She says later, now addressing Basil. "Now you can ask her a question."
"What?" The student asks.
"Not you." Rika corrects tersely. "Go on, Munchkin. Ask the champ-in-the-making whatever you want."
"Um... " Basil seems to think for a moment, but then he gets shy and hides his face against Rika's torso.
The student blanches. "I... I-I'm sorry? Did I do something wrong?"
"Pssh, nah. He just gets timid sometimes is all. But let's see..." Rika leans into Basil and speaks soft and sweet to him. "Whaddya think, Munchkin?" She gives his tummy a bit of a tickle, making him laugh and open up a bit. "Does this kid pass our test?" Rika keeps tickling him as he shrieks with laughter.
"Uh....Is...is that a yes?" The student eventually asks.
Rika pauses, then stands with all the pomp and importance of one in her station, propping the baby up in her arms.
"Yeah, I'd say so." She announces casually, in stark contrast to the serious air she feigned just a moment ago. "Congrats, Kid. You've passed your first test." She holds out a hand to shake and makes sure that Basil also gets to shake too.
Never too soon to start teaching the ins and outs of professionalism or whatever.
"Before you move on to the next step, you'll just need to wait a few minutes for his mama to finish her battle with one of your peers. Once she has him back, I can start your battle test. Sound good?"
The student nods, and sure enough within a few minutes, you arrive through the elevator and greet the room cheerily.
"We've got quite a few challengers today, it seems!" You announce as you take Basil from Rika. The boy had been making grabby hands for you the moment the elevator doors had opened, speaking in broken little syllables of his desire to be in your arms again.
You boop his little nose and smoosh your mouth to his pudgy cheeks in a kiss. "I wasn't gone that long, Sweet Boy!" You tell him. "Were you good for Auntie Rika?"
You look to the woman in question for her assessment.
"He did great. He's getting a real knack for these interviews, I tell you what. Asks some pretty insightful questions, right, Kid?" She says jokingly, turning to the student.
"What?" The kid looks between the three of you. "Oh! Um. ...What? Is this another test?"
Rika laughs. "Everything here is a test."
The student blanches a bit. "Oh... Then. Um. What was the question again?"
Rika ruffles the kid's hair. "Yeah, that's about par for the course. Don't worry about it. You're doing fine." She turns to face you. "For real though, Basil was great. He ate all his snacks and took a great long nap earlier and slept through all the noise of the battling. Super well behaved.” You smile at the comments, your heart swelling with pride as Rika goes on. “So you're headed out then?"
You nod, adjusting Basil on your hip as he starts to fiddle with a button on his overalls.
"Yup. Today's the day!"
Rika whistles. "Well good luck. Lemme know if you end up needing anything, yeah?"
You nod. "Thanks, will do. It should be fine though. Basil, say 'bye-bye!'"
"Bye-aye!" He mimics, waving at Rika.
"Say 'Good luck, Challenger!'"
"Goobuh, tsaduh!"
You laugh and ruffle his hair while the student gives him a determined thumbs up.
"Good job." You murmur into his sweet little head.
You grab the rest of yours and Basil's things and leave the Pokemon League building. You thought it'd do your team some good to get some energy out before their big event today, so you convinced Rika to let you take on some of the Champion Testing battles.
Within an hour or so, you're in the meadows out by Medali with a picnic set up.
Basil is seated in a bouncing little chair that meets the height of the picnic table, and you're finishing up the preparation of food for him and the pokemon.
You kneel down to help him handle his sippy cup.
"Are you excited, my littlest?" You ask him, as he babbles happily. "I'm excited, too."
It had taken you a decent amount of time to build up your courage to quite this stage.
Sure, all your Pokemon met Basil back when he was just a little potato of a thing, barely had his eyes open and could really only eat, sleep, cry, and sometimes pull your hair. But you knew back then that having your Pokemon out and about in the house, within the grasp of a little person who could easily get hurt or unintentionally piss them off was a recipe for trouble.
So your Pokemon were temporarily kept separate from your son for everyone's sake. Of course you still saw them and cared for them and battled with them, but never when Basil was around.
Now he's...he's more like a real person. Now he can run around and play. He's still learning words, but he has thoughts and can speak for himself and understand many things about the world around him. Sometimes so much so that it surprises you!
So. You can trust him enough and teach him how to behave around Pokemon.
You know your team as well as, if not better than, you know your son. You know they won't hurt him.
Still... Tinkaton's hammer is so heavy...and Skeledirge's flames burn so hot... And Raidon...
But no!
You can't keep your loves apart like this any longer!
It feels like it's been ages.
You look back to Basil and swipe your thumb across his cheek where some juice left him sticky.
"Oh, you sweet creature. Are you ready to meet Mama's friends?"
"Mama!" He chatots back to you.
"Okay, Basil." You lay out all six PokeBalls before him. "Take your pick for who you wanna meet first, okay?"
Your boy regards the PokeBalls with shining, eager eyes. He's seen these before. Chubby fingers grasp at a red and white ball. Your oldest.
"Oooh, that's a good one, my love." You say, rolling the ball gently along the table's surface with a single finger, though never removing it from Basil's grip.
"My very, very best friend is inside here." You lean in close and whisper dramatically, making Basil giggle. "But you won't tell the others, yea? He and I have been together for longer than anyone else. He's super excited to meet you. Wanna say hello?"
Basil nods.
"Can you hand me the PokeBall?"
He picks it up, having to hold it with both hands as he maneuvers the thing to your outstretched palm.
"Very good, Basil! Alright. Let's meet Skeledirge!"
You toss the ball into the air, with only a little more than your usual flare that you have when you battle, and the big, beautiful crocodile materializes with a thud on the ground in front of the table. It rears back on its hind legs and gives a mighty roar.
Basil, for his part, stands as best he's able in his chair, with you holding a supporting hand behind his back, to watch the spectacle, clapping his hands at the pokemon before him.
"Keledur!" He shrieks, delighted, before moving to climb down and onto the ground.
You lift him up easily enough and prop him against your hip, but Basil wants no part of being held when something so cool is nearby. "Whoa whoa whoa, wiggle wurmple." You tell him. "We gotta learn how to say hello to Skeledirge, yeah?"
"Hello, Skel'dur!" Basil mimics automatically, still squirming.
Skeledirge has the patience and wherewithal to stay planted while you wrangle the little one to stand in your lap as you sit cross legged in front of the Pokemon.
"Okay, Basil. Now, you need to be gentle with Pokemon. They're our friends, so we always need to be nice. Can you say 'nice'?" You take both of his hands in yours.
"Mm..." He corrects the sound. "Nnnnice!"
"Very nice! Good job! So when we pet Pokemon, we have to be very nice." You help him lean in toward Skeledirge, placing his hand on the Pokemon's nose, just to the side of the tiny firebird, which graciously hops out of the way. "See? Nice. Gentle..." You help him repeat the petting motion.
Basil squeals delightedly, petting Skeledirge's snout as he stomps his feet between your legs.
The Pokemon grumbles softly and shuts his eyes, relaxing into the ground a bit.
"Aw, Skel'dur go slee'?" Basil asks you, as he keeps petting the massive creature. "'Ats okay, Skel'dur. You go slee'. Shh... Shh..."
"Good job, Basil..." You tell him, whispering into the soft bits of fluffy hair behind his ears. "You're being so nice to Skeledirge! While he naps, do you wanna try and meet someone else?"
Basil turns to face you and nods excitedly, gripping the hem of his shirt in his little hands.
You stand and lead him back to the table where the other balls are.
Once again, Basil selects a red and white PokeBall. Briefly you wonder why he doesn't care for any of your specialty balls, but you decide not to question it.
He holds the thing tight in both hands.
"Okay, Bas', that's another really good one! I mean, they're all stellar, obviously, but this one is fun. This Pokemon and I also go way back. All the way back to..." Your heart clenches a bit, but you push past it quickly. "The very start of my journey! A very special person gave me this Pokemon."
Is it bad that you haven't brought up Arven to Basil yet? He isn't that old yet... Not even two yet. He hasn't asked about a papa or a daddy... So? You just kinda let it ride.
"How about you throw the PokeBall this time, huh? Give it a shot. Just throw the ball, hard as you can." You mime the motion to him.
Basil nods solemnly, looking to the ball, then he takes a deep breath and chucks it with a shout!
Or.
Well, he...
He kinda tries to chuck it.
In reality, the ball falls to the ground beneath his feet. It doesn't really matter though because the reddish glow of the releasing pokemon is still able to distance itself from the pair of you as Raidon materializes upright and gives a full body shake, making a chirring sound.
Basil stands in awe of the dragon that towers over the pair of you.
"Big!" He shouts, and you laugh.
"Yup! It's a big pokemon! This is Raidon!" You pat the creature lovingly along its shoulder, encouraging it to return to all fours. It eyes Basil up and down curiously, tilting its head from side to side. The sight of your baby helps bring it back down to earth a bit, and once it's on all fours again, you kneel to Basil's level.
"Now Raidon is really cool because--"
Basil shrieks, and your heart jolts momentarily before you realize it's a cry of laughter as the pokemon presses its snout up against his chest, chittering happily at him.
Your gaze softens, watching Basil pet along the dragon's snout, just as he had with Skeledirge.
"Good job... We always wanna be nice to pokemon, yeah?" You eventually say, petting along Raidon's shoulder and back.
Basil nods but doesn't take his wide, shining eyes from the creature in front of him.
"So... One of the neat things about this Pokemon is that..."
-
Just like both of his parents, Basil falls in love with Pokemon quickly and whole-heartedly. He's just as eager to meet everyone else on the team as they are to meet him!
Basil makes sure to play nicely and pay keen attention, or as good attention as his developing brain can make out. When someone shuts their eyes, they've "gone to sleep," so they're done playing. If someone is bouncing around, they can still play! He especially likes trying to kick around the little ball you brought along with them.
The Pokemon are also all very gentle with him. Not that you doubted any of them, really. Well, maybe Tinkaton, a little bit... But even then! They seem to understand their strength and how to tone it down for play with a teensy human.
When the sun starts to set later that evening, and Basil's eyes start to droop as his hands lose their grip on the last few bites of his cut up sandwich, you decide it might just be time to head in.
You recall all the pokemon to their balls, pack up the picnic, tuck your boy into his stroller and get started on the trek back to your apartment.
-
You're not alone.
You're not alone.
You're not alone.
You repeat the phrase like a mantra.
You're not alone.
You know that.
Not in, like, a spiritual sense or whatever, or even in the literal sense. You're fully aware that you have your little boy with you nearly at all times.
But you're not alone in raising him.
There's Nemona and Rika who are consistently proving themselves and trying to outdo one another as Best Tía of All Time.
There's Clavell who is always happy to take Basil for an afternoon when you're busy on research business for the academy.
Even Larry has taken your boy once or twice. You recall once how he gave a small sort of half smile when he took the stroller from your hands and waved you off.
"It's fine." He'd said, "He makes good company at meals."
"He can barely talk?"
"Exactly."
So.
Yeah.
You're not alone in parenthood.
Except when you are.
And...you currently are.
It's late at night. Well past Basil's usual bedtime. Past any time you'd feel comfortable asking a friend for an extra set of hands.
You can't blame Basil. Not really.
This isn't his fault. He's a good, sweet boy. He isn't even two yet, and he's already so smart.
Sometimes you even forget how little he is because he's so smart and perceptive.
That's your fault.
So... Maybe you jumped the gun a bit.
Maybe it was too soon for Basil to have a pokemon of his own.
Maybe you didn't realize how tricky it was raising a pokemon in tandem with a toddler.
How was Basil to know that dog pokemon can't eat raisins?
How were you to know he'd figured out how to open up the pantry?
You'd only been in the other room for a few minutes, changing into your pajamas and brushing your teeth when Basil had slowly pushed open your bedroom door, shuffling from foot to foot.
"Mama... Buddy frowed up..."
So...here you are, after a tearful admission on your son’s part, rushing your sweet baby's maschiff to the closest Pokemon Center.
Basil is inconsolable in your lap as the taxi flies. Your attempts to calm him fall on entirely deaf ears, partly due to the fact that he's crying so loudly that even the Taxi Driver can barely hear anything. You’ll have to tip him really well.
Basil is a good, sweet boy. He really is, but the situation isn’t aided in the slightest when he flails about in his tantrum, bashing your nose with one of his tiny fists more than hard enough to draw blood. Beyond the pain and having to hold back your own tears for your boy’s sake, you also have to calm the rage, the fear, the panic building in your heart that makes you want to scream. You also have to stanch the blood haphazardly, pressing your tender face to your shoulder, while Basil bawls out his apologies to you.
Maybe if someone else were around, someone could have been watching Basil while you changed.
Maybe if someone else was around, they could have stayed home with him while you rushed off to the Pokemon Center.
Maybe if someone else was around, they could have talked you out of letting your baby boy have a pokemon of his own.
Maybe if someone else was around, you could allow yourself to panic a bit, too.
As it stands, you need to be the sole pillar of support here. No one is here to give you a hanky to wipe at your nose or dab at the unshed tears in your eyes. No one can rub your back soothingly and let you know it’s okay, help you calm your racing heart. No one is there to help quell the nauseous churning in your stomach.
It hits you then that you’d been so busy today that you hadn’t eaten dinner. Again. An empty belly certainly didn’t help the situation.
You try to take a breath. At least, a breath through your mouth.
Buddy the Maschiff (newly hatched as of a few weeks ago from an egg that had been sitting in your box for so long you'd had no idea what was even inside) will be fine, you tell yourself. They'll get him to keep throwing up or whatever needs to happen to get the rest of the raisins out of his system.
Basil will be fine. Maybe a little scared, but fine.
You will be fine. You'll keep the food up higher. No, the raisins were plenty high. Basil pushed a chair. You'll lock the pantry. No, that's crazy, you don't want to restrict food like that. You'll... You'll...
You'll calm down after maybe a few hours of sleep and a snack, maybe. Then you'll be able to think straight again. Maybe.
It's hard doing this alone.
--
"Okay, I think I'm set to go then!"
"Aw, babe, that's great! You sure you don't want me coming along?"
Arven sighs, rolling his eyes good-naturedly. "I'm fine, really. I'm just packing up the rest of my stuff from my old storage unit in Mesagoza and coming right back here."
"Coming back to me, you mean?" His companion brazenly flirts. Arven lets it slide. He opens the door of the company car and steps out to the rush of the Lumiose City airport.
"I'll see you when I get back."
"Text me, babe!" She pushes, smiling wide, but Arven is already walking away.
He doesn't... He doesn't mean to be distant to the clingy woman. He's just...a little nervous for this trip is all. Paldea was the only home he ever knew before now, and he finally got the courage to leave for this Kalosian job. He was ready to grow from beneath the shadows of his world renowned parents and League Champion friends. He was ready to find something for himself and come into his own! And he’s done that! He’s still doing that! But it came at the cost of seemingly all of his friends back in Paldea. After your argument and subsequent blocking, everyone else dropped off like venonats not terribly long afterward. It really stung, and it still stings. Arven isn’t entirely sure what to expect when he returns to his home region. Has anyone been following his success? Will anyone even be happy to see him? Should he really just lay low, pack up his stuff, and spirit himself away like he was never even there? Somehow a Galarian goodbye feels worse than not even trying to rekindle a connection with some of his old pals.
Then again, none of this is an excuse to be rude to the woman who gave him a ride. She's been nothing but nice to him the last few years, serving as his PR rep at Bon Applintit. Maybe he should be nicer? Maybe he should finally cave and take her out on that date she's been seemingly begging for... He assumes she probably has some hand in the neat little reputation he's built online for himself as this chef-influencer guy.
Not that he really thinks it totally suits him entirely, but folks seem to really like his content, especially when he pairs human and pokemon food together, showing off how amazing Mabosstiff is.
That's really what it is at the end of the day, he figures. Mabosstiff is the real star of the show.
Not that he's bad, or something! He’s put a lot of effort the last few years into unlearning some of his old, unhelpful thought patterns. It's just... People love dogs, and Mabosstiff is the best!
So he's really lucky. He's hit a pocket of internet fame, and the company is keeping him on longer than his current contract. Kalos has been kind to him so far... It seems like a good place to plant roots, so... He may as well pack up the last bits of his life from Paldea and haul it off now.
The flight to Mesagoza barely takes any time. Boarding and disembarking truthfully take longer than total time in the air, but that's fine.
Arven steps into the streets and...
He's pleasantly surprised by how nice it feels to hear his own language again.
Kalosian isn't bad. He's gotten much better at it, really, even if he wasn't great with foreign languages back in his classes with Salvatore...
Maybe he should thank him? Or apologize? No, thanking him would probably be better.
Plus, if he stops by the school, he could see Clavell and Saguaro.
He wouldn't have to walk by his old apartment next to his storage unit yet.
The last place he hung out with you.
He won't have to think about how you weirdly got angry and shut him out after he had to cancel a few video calls.
He won't have to think about how empty his old place is. How he misses all his peers in his age group. How everyone else ended up dropping off within the year after you blocked him.
He won't have to think about his parents' old belongings that he needs to either pack up and move or toss.
...Yeah, stopping by the academy to see some of his old teachers might be nice.
Plus, Mabosstiff might like to check out the old stomping grounds again.
Arven makes the turn toward the massive set of looming stairs and releases his pokemon from his ball. The dog, for his part, takes a moment to slowly swivel his head from side to side, as if not quite believing his surroundings. He looks up at his person and tilts his head, one of his ears flopping inside out.
Arven laughs and pats his head, fixing the ear in the process. "Yeah, Bud." He says with a smile. "We're ho--...back for a bit. Wanna go stop by school? I bet Saguaro will have some treats for you."
Mabosstiff boofs loudly and gives a bounce--or, as much of a bounce as a dog of his size can really give--before bounding up the stairs. The sight makes Arven laugh even louder, taking after his pokemon, but Mabosstiff is much faster. He gets to the mezzanine landing in no time flat before pausing, his nose held high in the air. Mabosstiff clearly sniffs for several seconds before catching the smell of something and taking off like a bolthund, not bothering to wait for Arven to meet him.
"Hey! Buddy!" The man shouts after his pokemon, picking up the pace, but Mabosstiff pays him no heed and is out of sight within seconds.
The rational part of Arven's mind knows that Mesagoza's Academy is a safe place for pokemon, and that Mabosstiff knows how to handle himself, but at the same time, he can't help but worry just the tiniest bit as he rushes onward and upward along the stairway to try and catch up.
The tiny seed of worry sprouts and grows when he hears Mabosstiff's growling bark and a tiny shriek of a cry not long after.
"Mabosstiff!" He shouts, finally scaling the last of the stairs, doing his best to stave off the feeling of being winded. He isn't the teenager who used to traverse the region anymore, after all. His eyes dart along the courtyard, looking for a massive black cloud along the grass.
"Mabosstiff!" He shouts again, before another screech draws his attention to one of the benches where his dog seems to be perched on top of something.
"Mabosstiff, stop that now!" He calls over, running toward the scene. As he approaches, Arven makes out a speck of yellow and brown yampering and trying to climb up Mabosstiff's back, nipping at his ear.
Upon closer inspection, it's a little maschiff, but Mabosstiff is hardly paying it any mind, his attention entirely focused on using some kid in a stroller as a lollipop. Said kid is the one yelling up a storm.
"Bud!" Arven scolds him, grabbing Mabosstiff by the scruff of his neck. "Down! Now!"
With a pathetic sound, Mabosstiff backs off, as do the sounds of the little one in the stroller, whose squeals die into giggles and fits of laughter.
Arven breathes a sigh of relief that the kid wasn't frightened of his massive dog and that the shrieks he was hearing were probably just laughing. He returns his dog to its pokeball as the maschiff whines.
By now, Arven’s got enough wit about him to look to the kid's parent.
"Hey, uh, I'm so sorry about that. I really don't know what got into my Mabo--" Arven's words die on his tongue when he sees that the kid's accompanying adult was none other than Director Clavell, giving him a look as if he's seen a ghost.
"Oh! Director! Hi!" Arven greets him, embarrassed. "Sorry, I... I actually was stopping by to catch up and say hello to you. I'm back in town for just a few days and I wanted to, uh...catch...up... but, uh... Wow," He says with an awkward smile, gesturing to the stroller without actually looking at it. "Y'know, it's funny, I spent so much time with you as a kid, while Mom and Dad were in lab, and now–"
"Yes, well, Master Arven..." Clavell interrupts him, blithely moving to the child in the stroller who is briefly blocked from view as the director fiddles a bit, no doubt wiping away Mabosstiff's drool and adjusting their hair, something Arven remembers him doing countless times to him as a little boy.
A moment later, Clavell stands back up, an icy indifference covering his face, a perfect match to the chill that settles in Arven's veins as he actually looks at the kid in the stroller. "I'd say you bear a striking resemblance to your father now. We must be going. Good day."
Clavell turns the stroller around, and Arven watches as his old teacher walks off with a toddler that looks like a carbon copy of...himself, complete with a tiny maschiff following along at their heels.
His head swims. What? Who's that kid? How did Clavell get him? Why does he look just like Arven? And what was with that comment about him looking like his dad now?
Arven numbly lifts a hand to his chin. Sure, he'd let his facial hair grow out a bit, but... What? Clavell knows how Arven feels about his dad. That...that had to be a dig at him, right? Did...did the facial hair look dumb? It couldn't look that dumb? No, what was this about? And who is this kid?
By the time Arven has recovered enough to move his stupid legs into the building that Clavell and the boy had disappeared into, bolting to the director's office, the door is locked, and he's informed that Clavell has already left.
Fuck... He... He needs an answer here. Something is very wrong.
Did his mom or dad have some other kid he didn't know about or something? And then he had, like, a sibling or half-sibling somewhere who was unloading their spawn on the director?
No, that’s outrageous.
Maybe the kid just...just happens to look just like Arven?
This is stupid to just guess about. He just needs to be able to talk to someone.
Arven hurriedly makes his way to the Home Ec room and knocks at the door where the familiar face of Mr. Saguaro greets him with a friendly smile.
"Arven! Hello, my boy! Do come in, come in! Would you like something to eat? I just made pokemon treats, and I’m sure your Mabosstiff would love one!" His voice booms as Arven is ushered inside and enveloped in a tight hug.
The sensation nearly knocks the wind out of him, not just because of Saguaro's strength and size but because...well, he truthfully wasn't expecting such a warm welcome after getting the cold shoulder from Clavell. Or, he had been hoping for a warm welcome from his father figure only to be met with what he can only describe as paternal disdain.
Arven hugs Saguaro back. "Hello, Sir..." He says softly, forcing back the lump in his throat. "I, uh... I was just in the area..."
"Oh?" Saguaro asks, disengaging and pulling up a pair of seats for them to chat at a table. "Well, I'd love an opportunity to catch up with one of my most successful students. Please, sit and tell me what brings you by."
It's tempting. It's... It's really, really tempting to sit and chat about Kalos and Bon Applintit and all the good things lately, but Arven can't get the thought of that kid out of his mind.
"Sir..." He starts. "I saw Director Clavell on my way in..."
"Yes?" Saguaro asks, prompting him to continue.
"It, uh, it looked like he was... Maybe babysitting?"
Saguaro's eyes go distant for a second and he sighs. "Ah, so you saw..."
"Yeah." Arven interrupts before his former teacher has a chance to continue. "Who was that? The kid, I mean? And, well, why was the director taking care of--"
"Arven..." Saguaro sighs and stands back up, placing a hand on his shoulder. It's a comforting gesture, warm and heavy, but when Arven meets his gaze, hoping to find some type of answer to his confusion, he's met with sadness and what almost feels like disappointment radiating from the larger man. "Arven, I don't think I should be the one to tell you anything about that little one..." He says, his tone matching that same disappointment in his eyes. "That's a conversation you'll need to have with the child's mother."
"His mother...?" Arven asks, flabbergasted, his mind racing about who that could possibly be.
Saguaro nods. "You might find her at the Pokemon League this time of day, if you're lucky. I assume you don't have her number anymore?"
"Anymore? Wait, Sir, I'm not following here... I seriously have no idea what's g--"
Then it hits him.
You.
He slept with you.
It was...well, almost three-ish years ago? So...the timing would work out for a toddler. Not that he really knows what kids look like at different ages, but...
A toddler.
His toddler.
His toddler?
Arven doesn't realize his knees buckled. All he knows is that he's sitting in a chair, presumably placed beneath him by Saguaro just in time, a mug of water in his hands, while his teacher rubs gently at his back.
"Arven? Son, are you okay?"
"Don't say 'son'..." Arven mumbles out, his hands shaking as he grips the cup with near-white knuckles. He feels bile churning in his stomach. "I... I gotta go to the League... She hasn't spoken to me since...since..." He's trying to do the math in his head, but there's a block there, and between the rush of nausea and extreme anxiety, he can't focus.
"I gotta go. Sorry. I mean, thanks." He says, standing unsteadily before rushing from the room, Saguaro's protests falling on deaf ears.
Luckily, the Pokemon League isn't terribly far from Mesagoza, and Arven can make the trip on foot fairly easily in under an hour.
The whole trip there, he's panicking internally.
Did you really have his kid? That's...that's not what he actually saw was it? Then...then who was that little boy? Whose was he?
Beyond that, why hadn't you told him? Was this why you got all bitchy and dropped off the face of the earth? Well, maybe it wasn't bitchy...maybe it was hormones? But still! You never told him! Sure, he had to cancel your video calls several times, but... But you still could have found a way to tell him! You didn't need to block him! Was this why everyone else shut him out, too?
Actually... It all kinda lined up now. You blocked him, then...some number of months later, everyone else stopped talking to him, too. Even Penny stopped sending him the occasional meme.
What the fuck. Everyone thinks he's a deadbeat dad.
He is a deadbeat dad.
Or...is he? Can he be a deadbeat dad if he didn't know? ...Maybe that makes it worse? Fuck.
Maybe you didn't want him around for any of this, and that's why you didn't tell him... You knew he'd be a shitty dad or something. After all, what kind of dad could Arven be when his own dad didn't even want him?
No.
No, that's not right.
That's no way to think about any of this.
Something...
Something else has to be at play here.
Arven has talked himself down from the precipice by the time he's made it to the top of the hill on which the League building sits.
He's just about to open the door to enter when a smartly dressed person with long, teal hair exits, arms crossed and a stern look on their face.
"Hello. How can I help you today?" They ask formally.
"Hi, yeah. My name's Arven Sada-Turo. I'm looking for, uh..." He falters for a moment before giving your full name and title. It felt strange saying the whole thing out loud again, like lead on his tongue.
The person hums at him critically, then gestures with their chin back toward the building.
"Let's talk, Arven Sada-Turo."
He breathes a sigh of relief, following them through the doors.
"Oh, thank you so much. You know, I spent the last few years in Kalos, and I just came back today, so--"
"You've been in Kalos?" The person--Rika, according to the nameplate and pronouns on her desk--says. "Kalos is pretty nice. You must've been having a great time over there." She goes on, taking a seat and folding her hands in front of her.
"I, uh..." Arven eyes her, unsure. "I was... Um, I just came back to, um... Actually, is she gonna be here soon?" He asks, confused.
"Please." Rika gestures to the chair across from her desk. "Have a seat. We can have a chat while we wait for my dear friend, yeah?" She asks, her eyes narrowing like a Luxray.
"Um... Sure..." Arven says, sitting down uneasily. "So, she'll be down? I, uh, haha... I never bothered completing the League challenge while I was in school, so..." He looks around the lobby. "I dunno where she might...um...be..ya know, in the building..."
"Yeah, don't worry about it," Rika speaks over him glibly, leaning back, crossing her ankles up on her desk. "I just wanna talk for a second. So you just decided to come back to Paldea to see my dear, sweet friend? Just a little pleasure call, or...?"
Arven splutters. "Excuse me?"
"I'm just trying to get your angle here, Sada-Turo. I don't see why you're bothering to come back after all these years. She's built a good life for herself, y'know? Super successful Champion, one of the best field researchers for our scientists. One hell of a mom. She doesn't need you or whatever pathetic excuse of an offer you might be trying to attempt here."
"Wh...What?!" Arven stammers, his heart pounding painfully in his chest when your status as a parent was confirmed. "I didn't even come back to see her! I came back to get the rest of my stuff and move permanently back to Kalos! It was only--"
"Then why are you here? Why don't you go?" Rika asks, her eyes going dark. "We don't need you. She doesn’t need you."
Arven's heart sinks. Rika was re-affirming all his worst thoughts, and as much as he feels urged to believe them, he fights it. This isn't a conversation he needs to have with some random woman at the Pokemon League. Who was she anyway? Your girlfriend? No, she called you a dear friend, but still…
Ugh, Rika’s relationship to you doesn't matter! He needs to talk to you.
"Is she coming down or not? Is she even in the building?"
"Not anymore." Rika smirks, checking her phone.
Arven audibly sighs and stands to leave. "You're wasting my time. I need to talk to her about...whatever this is that’s going on." He says, gesturing vaguely as he leaves the building.
"Oh, now you wanna talk to her? Why? Wanna try and convince yourself you're better than your own daddy because of your follower count or some tauros-shit?" Rika calls after him. "See if she gives you the time of day, Sada-Turo! Just see!"
Her words sting. Really badly, actually, but Arven tries to just let them slide off his back best he can. That woman doesn't know him. She isn't the priority right now.
You are.
He just needs to figure out some way to find and talk to you…
His phone buzzes obnoxiously in his pocket. He spares a glance at it as he hails a taxi on the off-chance that maybe you'd reach out, then turns the screen off. He doesn't have time for his PR rep right now.

Hello!!! I love your writing!!! May I request some cuddling/hugging HCs about the Scarlet/Violet trio of friends (Nemona, Penny, and Arven)? Thank you!!
Nemona
She loves physical affection, be it from a romantic or platonic source. Her parents were very hands off and weren't physically affectionate so from the lack of physical affection made her rather starved for it.
Her hugs can be a little bit too tight at times, it's because she loves you so much! She just has to squeeze ya to make you squeak like a Pachirisu! She hugs her friends all the time and you're no exception even though you're dating.
Even though her hugs can borderline on the too tight end, they're very comforting and grounding. For both yourself and her. She usually gives you a hug when and after she sees you. It's routine!
She's a surprisingly softer cuddler compared to the hugs she gives, and actually prefers to be held from behind before she drifts off to sleep. Likes her hair that is out of the confines of her ponytail to be scratched and stroked softly with your fingers.
Please kiss her freckles, the laugh and crinkles of her honey colored eyes are a beautiful sight. And she LOVES when you try to kiss every freckle.
She's more relaxed and less energy filled in these quiet moments. Because of you, you're her special person.
She's such an early riser, but will extend cuddle sessions as long as possible and you can hear the whine she makes from her spot next to you when she does have to get up for the day.
Penny
Little Penny is not big on PDA, so expect hugs from her in public to be almost nonexistent. She's just very shy and doesn't like eyes on her.
However it is more common for her to initiate a hug when you're alone be it inside her dorm room, or alone on a walk outside town away from people.
They're not too tight, but they're comforting with the way her face squishes up against your shoulder as her glasses are skewed diagonally across her face.
She'll hum when you hug her back and likes when you scratch her back with your fingernails lightly.
Loves to cuddle but sometimes it gets too much for her, especially when you're staring lovingly at her and her whole face just resembles a tamato berry and she has to force herself away to compose herself.
She loves having your arms wrapped around her and her own small hands on your chest while she rests her head on top them.
Enjoys watching you sleep and if you catch her staring she'll be so embarrassed. Just give her space and don't overwhelm her, she'll come back in your arms soon enough.
She loves you a lot and these emotions can be overwhelming.
Arven
He didn't get a lot of attention growing up at all, and so it took a little bit of time for the shoulder and back pats to turn into a full on embrace. And once he did, he realized how long it had been since he last had a loving physical touch from another human being.
So, so touch starved, the clingiest person out of them all.
His hugs, even though he's been out of practice, they're so comforting and warm and loving. He gives you kisses on the crown of your head every time he hugs you.
Loves cuddling after some time getting used to it. Likes to cuddle you facing him and for your head to be resting on his outstretched arm or his shoulder so he can still see your face.
Strokes your cheek with his fingertips and traces shapes onto your arm when you're talking. One of the only times his hair is out of his eyes and brushed back on top his head.
Kiss his face and watch it light up warmly before he goes in to reciprocate lovingly. You won't regret it.
He feels so safe with you, the comfort he didn't get from his parents he gets from you. Feel comforted in that, please. That he loves and trusts you with all the love his body can have.

Dating Life - Arven
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Spoilers mentioned!
GN Reader x Arven
Tumblr media
- No such thing as privacy exist, all his Pokémon have to exist in the same room.
-Will take over the lighthouse, with a bit of a paint job and cleaning it all up to make it a real living space. Not enough space in his dorm room for the two of you and all his Pokémon and yours if you have any!
- Would never admit it but loves going shopping together, loves explaining various berries and vegetables from different regions.
- If the academy ever has the chance to go out of the region, bet he’s going to drag you along with him, of course he’ll ask nicely but this young man wants to try different cuisines.
- If going too Kalos the first stop is too see Siebold- his idol. Siebold and Arven have a battle: in the kitchen with the aid of their own Pokémon. Good luck you’re the judge but it’s clear that Arven puts more love in his cooking for you then anyone else along with the aid of his partners to help with flavors and cooking.
- It ends up being a world wide trip once the two of you graduate though from the school.
- By chance if you’re scared of Pokémon he takes things really easy and Mabosstiff is your new best and slow buddy. The dark type acts much more like an old man even when now healed.
- If you have no Pokémon? Don’t worry it’s not uncommon really not a lot of people at the academy own a Pokémon yet most are their for normal studies as they teach more then just trainers. His gift to you on your first year anniversary is a cute little Fidough caught in a Cherish Ball!
- Originally he was going to catch it in a Love Ball but the little fairy type was stubborn until he used the special pokeball he ended up getting from buying so many things at the market one time.
- He’s really sweet but sometimes teases a bit too much for anyone’s liking.
- Caught you once dancing alone and decided then he was going to join in- he’s not a good dancer at all. Though he has a really soothing voice so he’s quite good at singing.
- Butterfly kisses are his forte, they were designed for Arven only.
- Bring him a sandwhich- sorry he’ll pick it apart after the one time he got a very questionable sandwhich from Nemona.
- Dates usually happen outside, inside only if it’s raining.
- If anyone tries to challenge you while you two are on a date- expect to be carried. Takes the term Run Away a bit too literal- can’t have anyone ruin your time together!
- Will give you his vest if you’re cold even in the blazing sun, sees you shiver even a bit and on it goes, he just has it on all seasons of the year even if it’s puffy.
- At first he wasn’t sure about dating at all: still having family problems so it probably takes at least a year after the main events for him to find a little closure. It’s always on ongoing battle - but since you were there for him he’ll be there for you. Long as you’re both handling it together on equal terms.
- Arven is a sweetheart all and all even with his deep past but he’s a very depenable young man and wants to see your smile be it remind him of the setting sun or rising moon.
So what adventure will you go on next?

Their Greatest Treasures | Arven & GN!Reader
Rating: G
Summary: You're about to compete in one of your first public matches as Paldea's newest champion. With such a large audience, you’re terrified — but your worries instantly dissipate when one of your favorite people meet you on the court.
Author’s Note: There will be end- and post-game spoilers in this, so read at your own risk!
Also, while I headcanon Arven as an adult, this fic can be 100% platonic, for those of you who don't. I just wanted to write something cute about besties being reunited :) Enjoy and take care! x
Check it out on ao3!
You stand in the center of Mesagoza, about to compete in the first ever School Battle Brawl Academy Ace Tournament. You know you’ll probably win the whole thing, having recently become a champion, but you can’t help but feel nervous with all these eyes on you.
With the exception of being on Iono’s streams a few times, your audiences have been relatively small. But right now, nearly everyone you go to school with — teachers included — and even random passersby of Mesagoza are waiting eagerly to see their region’s newest champion in action.
On your side of the court, you fiddle with a Pokéball, tapping your feet against one another, trying to steady your breathing as you patiently await the battles that are to come. Your heart jumps to your throat as Clavell begins announcing your first opponent, and ripping the metaphorical bandaid off, you finally look up. Before the chairman can say your challenger’s name, though, you’re whispering it to yourself. Grinning wider than you have in weeks, nerves melting away.
You haven’t seen Arven much since the whole incident at Area Zero, having been bombarded with your new champion duties so shortly after. You hadn’t realized how much you truly missed seeing those piercing teal eyes; or the streaky, puffy hair; or naturally pouty, almost angry-looking face, until now.
More importantly, you’ve missed his voice. You feel comfortable and warm as he gives a whole spiel about how it’s “just his luck” to be paired against his “little champion.” He assumes you’d be surprised to see him at an event like this, but at the accusation, you shake your head ‘no,’ knowing fully how passionate he can become when he sets his mind to something. It throws him for a loop, but only gives him more encouragement to do his best – for himself, and for you.
You begin battling no more than a minute after the exchange, and the grin doesn’t leave your eyes or lips. To others, it probably just looks like you really enjoy battling.
To Arven, you look nuts.
He’s seen you battle plenty. He knows that, more often than not, you look determined, sometimes even scary, when you compete. What’s different this time? Has La Primera really gotten to you that quickly?
As he's lost in thought, a second member of Arven’s team goes down. You still have that look as you return your own Pokémon to its ball, letting it rest while another comes out to play. He begins to feel self-conscious, and it turns quickly into frustration.
Is he a joke to you? Are you on the verge of laughter because you’re kicking his butt so hard? What's going on?
Arven knows that those things wouldn’t be characteristic of you, considering how supportive you’ve always been of him… but what if that’s changed? Needing answers, he speaks up about it.
“What’s up with that dumb face?” he shouts before the two of you can begin the next round.
Your eyes widen, and then soften. After that, a giggle comes out of you that makes Arven’s breath hitch. Arceus, he missed his little buddy’s laugh.
“I’m just… really happy to see you!”
Oh.
Oh, nothing could have prepared him for that.
Arven’s own eyes widen, his face flushes, and your smile contagiously spreads to his features. He’s never really had anyone who’s happy just to be around him, at least to his knowledge. His own parents neglected him, leaving him without family, and he’s always struggled to make friends, leaving him without any form of kinship.
And yet here you are.
You helped Arven bring his partner back from what was basically the brink of death, and barely needed to be convinced to do so. You were there to console him when he found out his real parents are gone forever, with only AI in their stead, who also left him. You brought him closer to Nemona and Penny, and even if they’re insufferable at times, they’re some of the best friends he’s ever had.
Deep down, Arven thought that maybe you’re just a really kind person. A true, textbook-definition of a hero. There’s no way someone could care that much about him, surely.
…Yet here you are! Genuinely happy just to be reunited with your buddy.
You’re the greatest treasure he could’ve asked for.

Insomnia
he/they pronoun use for the reader.
scarvio goes through the day/night cycle on a set time, and doesnt change based on your current time so thats where the idea came from
Being an insomniac is hard, but moving to Paldea proved to be the best idea your mom had gone through. Having to find the "treasure" was easier, when you worked through the night. No one really checked up on you, since all they saw was a hard working young guy, who was just a workaholic.
Larry did try to get them to rest a bit before the battle, but didn't get through to the young boy. After his defeat, he offered some food, so he could at least stop and eat a proper meal, since he looked a bit tired. The trainer took the offer and had a lovely meal with Larry.
"Thank you, Larry, this was really nice"
"Anytime, (Y/n).. Please try to have some rest, you're going to overwork yourself to the bones."
They simply nodded, and waved goodbye as they left.
_____
One night, Arven was gathering ingredients for his sandwiches, and let mabostiff try to sniff out some stuff that may be laying around. Suddenly his tail started wagging hard, and started running off.
Startled, Arven runs after him. All the things that ran through Arven's mind, this definitely wasn't what he was expecting to see at all. (Y/n) was awake, and battling pokemon with what looks like some newer pokemon he's just caught.
Mabostiff reaches him, just has he's finished battling, and jumps on top of him. Not having expected it, he falls, and any fear of getting trampled on by a random Mabostiff leaves, as he realizes its definitely Arven's. He smells too clean, and like food to be anyone else's.
"Hey Arv, why are you up? its like um.." looks at his watch "it's 2 am, you shouldn't be awake."
Arven raises an eyebrow, and smiles knowingly, "Yeah I know. I sometimes wake up at to collect the berries before wild pokemon wake up. They're usually the better ones for pokemon recipes.. why are you up, though?"
(Y/n) pushes off Mabostiff from on top of him, but stays sitting on the grass. They just shrug, "I can't sleep, so I battle my lower level pokemon until I'm tired, but we're aways from that right now."
"You need to sleep, little buddy. I'm going to set up camp for us, and you're going to sleep, okay? I'll even get Mabostiff to lay on you so you don't leave." Arven suddenly gets an idea, "oh, actually that may work. He's sort of like a weighted blanket, and it's comfortable"
(Y/n) snorts, and shakes his head, "Absolutely not, he was on me earlier, and my breath was gone, Arv. He could asphyxiate me in my sleep by accident. I'm not as strong as you are, I can't handle his weight. I'd rather try to sleep with you on top of me, as the weighted blanket."
Arven's face grows warm, and he clears his throat, "I mean, it could work? I'm not as heavy as mabostiff, and I'm pretty sure you can handle my weight."
"Wh- huh? Arven I was joking. I'll try to just sleep, but if that doesn't work.. I guess we can try? Better than what I've been doing anyways; battling until I eventually get really tired."
Arven nods, "That's a terrible way of going about it. Let me set up camp then."
_____
"You really don't have to do this Arven, it's fine. Honestly-"
Arven interrupts, and argues, "you have dark circles, and bags under your eyes. This is not a way to live. You'll be in an early grave if you can't get the sleep you need."
Sighing, (Y/n) lays inside his sleeping bag and nods to Arven. Arven lowers his upper body onto their chest, and then completely lays as comfortably as he can be on them.
"Oh.. actually this is really nice. the pressure and warmth you exude is really nice, Arv. I think-," they get interrupted by their own yawn, "I think this could work."
Arven just smiles, glad his plan actually worked. Thankfully, Arven was comfortable, and warm with the blanket he had brought. Soon enough they're both asleep, and night goes by quickly.
_____
Arven is the first one awake. He notices that (Y/n) is still asleep, so he takes the time to really look at their features. They have fairly dark circles, with some pretty long lashes, along with some really soft looking lips, and some light freckles that you couldn't see unless you were looking hard at their face.
His eyes flutter open, and stretches a bit to wake up.
"Did you rest well? You look way less tired." Arven asks him, as he starts putting his sleeping gear away.
"Yeah, it was definitely the best sleep I've gotten in a while. Thank you Arven, it really means a lot." (Y/n) gives him a sleepy smile, rubbing the sleep out of them.
"If you want, it could be a night routine. You need to sleep more often, and I wouldn't mind sleeping with you every night." Arven gets flustered at his wording, "n-not in that way, I just um.. I just meant that you're surprisingly comfortable to lay on."
"I couldn't do that to you every day, I would feel guilty about it. You and I have stuff to do that don't align, so we'd have to-" (Y/n) giggles
Arven puts a gentle hand on his shoulder, and cuts him off, "It's okay, I wouldn't mind it. I mean, I would do anything for you, because you're worth it."
(Y/n) face heats up, and fiddle with their hands nervously, "Thanks Arven, I love you."
W-what?" Arven's face heats up, and he covers his tamato berry colored ears with his hair.
(Y/n) takes a moment to realize what they've just said, and puts a hand on his mouth.
"Oh, I didn't mean to.. I just.. hah, didn't think I'd be confessing so early in the morning, I uhm," swallowing the nerves down, and ignoring how warm his face felt, (Y/n) looked at Arven. "I think I'm in love with you. You're so nurturing and sweet to everyone, especially with your darling pokémon. For all the time we've been friends, I've fallen deeply and hopelessly for you. I don't care if you don't reciprocate, but now you know."
"Oh wow, I didn't know you'd like me back." Arven looks surprised at the sudden confession. "I thought you were way too cool to like me, especially since you're always so busy with cool projects. Kinda thought you liked Nemona, or maybe even Penny."
With a hearty laugh, he put a gentle hand on top of Arven's much bigger hand, "No, they're not my type; you are though. I really like you a lot Arven, would you go out with me?"
Arven nods, "Only if you let me treat you to my amazing breakfast sandwich."

I wanted to drop down another idea,, Amethio x Trans masc Reader, (preferably if they don't have supportive parents, I love what you did with the Arven headcannons,,,)
I do apologise if my wording for requests is weird,, but I hope you have a genuinely amazing day!!
not weird at all, i can understand you perfectly. Also, an Amethio request AND a transmasc reader? i owe you my life, anon. i feel truly spoiled.
Amethio x Transmasc! Reader
Tumblr media
I honestly headcanon Amethio as transmasc as well so. T4T couple goals to be honest.
That aside, Amethio's response to you being trans is pretty neutral, regardless of where you are in your transition or how you tell him.
It's as simple as a nod, and maybe "I see. Thank you for telling me."
And then he just goes on with his day.
It doesn't change how he views you at all, you're still just. yourself. Not really his style to make a big deal of it.
That's not to say he doesn't care, though.
If he ever has any questions, he takes care to say them as politely as possible and doesn't pressure you to answer, and listens intently if you do.
Will help remind you to take breaks while binding/make sure you aren't pushing yourself if you ask him to, for example.
Occasionally will see something with the trans flag on it or with trans flag colors and will hand it to you/get it for you.
"This seems like something you'd like."
If someone's being an asshole to you, whether it be a family member or stranger on the street, he'll swiftly intervene.
"Excuse me. Just what do you think you're saying to my boyfriend?"
He doesn't even have to battle them. If his icy glare isn't enough to scare them off, the very angry Ceruledge looming over his shoulder is.
Then will pull you away, muttering something under his breath about what a nuisance that person is.
As for your family, well, Amethio is most likely to just tell you not to engage with them at all. In his eyes, there's no use in being around others like that.
He knows sometimes it's not that easy, though.
So if you have to deal with it, he'll just nod in understanding. He knows you're more than capable on your own, but he does worry.
Tells you to let him know if anyone says anything to you, and that he'll settle it in a pokemon battle.
You might think he's joking. He's not.
Ceruledge and Corviknight both love you too so they'll throw a fit if anyone makes you upset.
His job means he may not be able to come with you if you have to see your family, so he finds himself checking his phone more than usual when on a mission, wondering if you're okay.
Zir and Conia notice that he seems more distracted than usual, and wonder if he's worrying about something
Will text you more often, too. Expect messages at regular intervals inquiring as to if you are okay and how things are going, if he needs to pick you up.
"Ame, you can't just drop everything on your mission for me."
"I can and I will."
Afterwards, will just sit with you and spend some time with you to make up for his absence. He's not the most experienced in comfort if that's what you need, but he'll hold you and make sure you're not alone, and will listen to you talk or vent or rant or whatever.
Alternatively, if you'd like some space, he understands and is more than happy to give you that, too.
"You're a strong and capable person and trainer, more than you give yourself credit for. don't let those blind to that fact make you doubt yourself."

regressor arven headcanons 🐾🐶
he's always had those foggy days, but didn't really have a name for it in the beginning. a conversation with penny allows him to put a name to the feeling.
said foggy days only grew in frequency after his parent dropped contact.
after the group trip to area zero, he's down for the count for a few good days at least no matter how okay he says he is.
he always makes sure to have easy snacks and finger foods on hand when he feels the fogginess coming on--partly because he doesn't have the energy, partly because his friends insist that he's too little to do prep or cook, especially without supervision. he gripes about it, but secretly he wraps himself up in their concern like a blanket.
even though he's not supposed to cook, he does have a lot of toy foods to play with. he likes to play supermarket, restaurant, and tea parties.
the gang also goes on picnics when the weather's nice. the others take care of the prep, but still let arven teach them about new sandwiches.
no matter what, mabostiff has to be there. whether it's to play or just curl up together, his pup has been the most constant thing in his life and provides an anchoring point so arven doesn't drift too far into not so nice thoughts.
plus, mabostiff knows his human better than anyone! he often nudges his buddy in the right direction when arven forgets to look after himself.
on one memorable occasion, mabostiff figured out how to open the dorm door and went to find one of arven's friends when arven was being particularly stubborn about dropping.
once arven's friends know, it somehow gets both easier and harder to regress. on the one hand, he doesn't have to hide. on the other, he doesn't know how to accept care from others. some days are trickier than others, but they always end in a cuddle puddle no matter what headspace arven ends up in.
clavell is the exception, being the one to look after him when the professor returned to area zero. uncle clavell, awkward as he may be, knows just how to soothe arven's busy mind.
sometimes, arven will just come sit in clavell's office while he works. clavell has a folder of coloring sheets and a box of crayons in his desk for this reason. they jokingly call it "office work."
in spite of everything, arven does still have his baby blanket. sometimes, if he tries really hard, he thinks he can remember the professor wrapping him up in it. he doesn't tell anyone this.

Dadvell au scenario thing but also Sada hc-
So I have this headcanon that Sada used to hum a lot. Mostly just absent-mindedly, and she wouldn't even notice she was doing it most of the time. It was like her brains way of relieving stress. She would also have a few specific tunes she would sing sometimes as well.
Naturally, she hums a lot during the workplace, so Clavell gets pretty used to hearing it. He doesn't mind, and actually finds the trait quite nice, even missing it once Sada goes to Area Zero and just...never comes back.
But another person Sada would hum around a lot was Arven, and it turns out, kids pick up a lot of traits from their parents, especially at the more younger ages.
Que Clavell walking into the kitchen one day whilst Arven was cooking, and almost doubling over in shock when Arven starts absent-mindedly humming one of the exact same tunes Sada sang to herself a lot back when they worked together and she was still alive 😭
Man's was not expecting to hear that tune ever again, but still finds himself smiling in the end once he gets over the initial shock as Arven continues humming.
Omg this is too precious 🥹🥹🥹❤️

And here we are, at the end of this countdown. Hope you’re having fun with Indigo Disk! I’m gonna be doing that when this post goes up since it’s queued for that day.
I’m just gonna cut to the chase here. Koraidon is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite Pokémon. And I’m gonna gush so much that I feel it’s probably best to describe the scene here, and have the gushing under the cut. Koraidon (or Scarlet, as I nicknamed mine) is with Ogerpon and Dipplin since they rep the DLC.
Okay, let’s start from the beginning…
For a while after ScVi released, I didn’t buy it. I looked at the glitches and kinda thought it just wasn’t worth it. Well, until some people told me it was actually pretty good, the glitches were the main problem and they’d been mostly patched.
So on my 18th birthday, I’d buy Scarlet off the eshop as a little gift for myself, just to see what it was like. I chose that version because I preferred the overall aesthetic over Violet.
Pretty soon after I started, that’s when I met Koraidon. I find them injured on a beach, and I gave sandwich to help them regain their strength. They ended up saving me in a cave after a Houndoom attacked me, but they’re still not entirely able to fight.
As it turns out, they belong to Arven, a grouch who happens to be the professor’s kid. Apparently he kinda hates Koraidon, so he just decides to leave him with me. From then on, I’m able to ride upon Koraidon! At first, there’s not a lot they’re capable of, but that changes quickly.
See, Arven’s on a quest for Herba Mystica, a legendary plant that gives great power to any who consume it. These are what happen to power up Koraidon, the first giving them the ability to quickly dash, and the second giving them the ability to swim.
At the second one, I find out that Arven’s not so bad actually, as he’s going on this journey for his injured Pokémon to heal. And not only do I learn more about Arven, but also about Koraidon. At one point, Arven speculates that Koraidon isn’t just physically unable to fight, but they might also have some trauma holding them back.
Eventually, Arven successfully brings his Pokémon back to full health, but Koraidon’s still unable to battle. But his mom has called him down to Area Zero for some reason…
Once I’ve finished with all three of the main quests, I’m ready to descend into Area Zero. But at first, Koraidon’s too scared to come out of their Pokeball… Slowly, you learn more about Area Zero and the Paradox Pokemon, including that Koraidon are Paradox Pokemon from the past.
Eventually, you meet another Koraidon. But this one isn’t as friendly as my companion, and the latter seems terrified of the former…
And then I meet Sada, or rather the AI made in her likeness, and I learn that my friend was traumatized by the hostile Koraidon bullying them and also the death of the professor.
I have to fight AI Sada now, with all her ancient Pokémon… and then at the end of the battle, the Paradise Protection Protocol is activated, and the hostile Koraidon attacks.
I can’t run, the door is shut. And I can’t throw out my Pokeballs, all are locked except for Sada’s…
Except for one.
I now have to send out my friend, my friend who has been traumatized by the foe they must face down… but they fight. They fight for my sake. They cannot be defeated during the battle, they will tough out all the attacks, and once I Terastralize them, their Tera Blast makes quick work of the bully who they once feared.
And thus, from now on, they are officially able to battle. When you need them to do so, you have to enable their battle mode to put them in your party, though you won’t be able to ride on them until they’re back in riding mode. A lot of people find this annoying, but honestly? I don’t care about that. It just doesn’t feel like a problem for me. I think they’d like a rest from battling sometimes, and I’ll just send them out when I really need them.
I know this has all just been recapping the story of the game, but I don’t know how else to explain how attached I got to my Scarlet. My closest friend, my dearest companion, and my greatest treasure…
I’ll be off tumblr for a bit, I’m just gonna be busy partaking in new adventures with my friend.

Next year’s treasure: a fucking elevator
So, Arven carries a lot of supplies with him. He’s got a weird relationship with gender where he’s definitely a guy, but finds himself relating more to terms like Eldest Daughter Syndrome and Mom Friend. He doesn’t consider himself particularly gender nonconforming; at least, not on purpose. He just thinks the binary of gender roles is stupid and he wants to opt out.
Why is it a gendered trait that he raised himself, that he shows affection for his friends by making sure they’re well fed because his mom and dad were never around to cook for him? Why is it a gendered trait that behind the uncaring facade he puts up, he's actually quite anxious, especially after what happened to mabosstiff, and he likes to be prepared for any situation? Why is it a gendered trait that he doesn't expect anyone else to take care of him, doesn't want to be taken care of as much as he desperately craves it, and keeps all his baggage, emotional and physical, to himself?
Still, it’s heavy. It’s a lot  to carry around, especially up the stairs. So, Penny is exhausted. All the time, actually. Her therapist says it’s a trauma response, that all of her energy goes towards processing and healing from the bullying she endured, and she’s been nearly a shut-in for so long that her constitution is shit.
And then there's her transition-- objectively, coming out of her shell and coming out to her parents was a net positive. Back in the days when her denial was at its peak, she buzzed her hair short, trying to prove something to herself, to her bullies. Looking back, that haircut feels like an act of violence against herself, but now she is growing it out, and has to admit she feels cute more days than not.
Dysphoria still flares up from time to time, but Penny's got a cute backpack, a skirt and patterned leggings, a knack for wearing just enough eyeliner to make people question if she's wearing makeup or just has pretty eyes. Right now, her gender goals are Just Some Girl. And she's getting there. She doesn't need to be some exaggerated model of femininity, she's just another girl in the crowd, kinda cute but not in a way that stands out.
But now that her body is running on estrogen, now that she's no longer literally running from her problems, her muscle mass...well. It's seen better days. She'd like to maybe build up her stamina, but school makes it hard.
Especially those damned stairs. So, Nemona is disabled. The compression sleeve normally keeps it under control, but it's an aid, a tool, not a cure or a perfect fix. Her gross motor coordination with that arm isn't good enough for a lot of sports, she struggles to throw pokeballs, and it gets sweaty and gross sometimes, which is unpleasant.
The specifics of it are, basically, a somewhat benign growth on her blood vessels will swell up and press uncomfortably against the nerves if she's not careful. It's not hurting much for now, and she knows her limits, but she's sort of looking forward to the day she's old enough to get it surgically fixed. She's got to wait until her body is fully developed for that-- something about pediatric surgery being a risky endeavor-- and honestly, that's okay. Makes sense to her.
She knows her limits, knows what kinds of exercises she can do without exacerbating her bad arm, and she's got more hobbies than battling. She's got friends to hang out with, friends who understand, even. So most days, she's fine with being a little disabled. There are worse fates out there, and it's taught her how to get creative and work around limitations to find solutions.
But some days, she resents it. Because her arm is always throbbing with pain by the time she makes it up the academy stairs.
So, the new transfer student is something of a force of nature. Defeating titans, collecting gym badges, and sweeping through Star bases like it’s nothing. Everything has changed since their arrival, like a revolution in process, and by the look in their eyes, everything's going to keep changing, and for the better.
Those stairs never stood a chance.

Hello! Can I make a fluffy request where the reader calls arven’s name when they are sleeping/dreaming? And arven heard it? I just want arven to feel that he is loved by the reader!
Hello! I hope this is nice and fluffy enough!
-
A Wish Your Heart Makes
Arven x reader, pure fluff, no gendered pronouns are used to describe the reader
--
So... Arven is a little jealous. Not in like a mean way, or in a way where he gets mad about it, but he's definitely jealous.
You fall asleep so easily!
It's not that he has sleep problems, per say, but he's absolutely spent a good amount of time in the evenings counting mareep before sleep eventually takes him. He'll lay there on his phone for ages, scrolling through blogs and social media, willing his mind to calm down and be tired, and you're already passed out and softly snoring beside him.
It's infuriating! Not the snoring. Just the falling asleep. Besides, your snores aren't loud, and he'd never tell you about it because it's not like it's something you can help anyway.
So he usually just puts on some headphones to block out the soft, even sound from you, and he goes from there. Sometimes he listens to lofi, sometimes it's ASMR sounds, really just anything chill and calming.
Tonight though, he's quietly seething to himself. He'd forgotten his portable charger back at his place, and his headphones are dead.
So he's laying next to you in your campsite berating himself and trying to concentrate on anything but you next to him.
It'd help if more pokemon were around even! Just a flock of murkrow softly chirping or some yungoos scurrying around the cave, but they're too far away from you both.
He tosses and turns in his sleeping bag, getting more frustrated with himself. Maybe it's just him being tired (it probably is) but he can't help but think about all the stupid shit he did today.
Like, he fell over during a battle again. Why does he do that?! It's not like he gets hit by the moves himself. He just falls over!
Ugh, you must think he's so lame.
Then he dropped a whole tupperware of deli meats! Now, in fairness, that was 'Raidon's fault for purposefully bumping him to get at the food, but still. He should know better.
He's just been fucking up lately, and it's stupid. He's stupid. Why are you traveling with him anyway? You're a stupid Champion rank trainer. You'd be better off hanging out with Nemona or...or like Geeta even.
"Arven..."
Your voice pulls him from his negative thoughts.
"Shit. Sorry." He whispers, turning to you. "Did I wake you?"
But your eyes are peacefully closed with no furrow in your brow to indicate you'd been woken. You're just softly smiling, still breathing slowly and evenly.
He whispers your name.
You just sigh happily.
Are you...still asleep? For real?
"Arvennnnn..." You sleepily say again, drawing out the 'n' in a little giggle.
He raises an eyebrow. "Y...you're sleeping, right?"
"Mmm...." You respond, still smiling.
He doesn't know why he does this, but...well he does. It just feels right.
Arven reaches out a hand from his sleeping bag. It trembles just the tiniest bit before he's resting his palm on your sleep-warmed cheek.
"Mmm.... Ar...ven..." You respond, nuzzling into his touch.
He lays there with you like that for just a moment, heart melting, then silently dares his thumb to rub gentle circles into the smooth skin of your cheek.
You hum a tiny little laugh. "Mmm..."
Then your soft snoring starts back up again, but Arven can't bring himself to move his hand from you.
He ends up falling asleep just like that, and when you wake up, he doesn't say anything about the red palm mark that he unintentionally left behind by leaving his skin on yours for so long.
It'll fade before anyone else sees it anyway.

finally, a little bit of peace. battles had never been arven's strong suit, but he had a goal, and one that he would need to fight to achieve. his companion, it seems, is observant as ever.
“do you hate fighting?” asks @canidgrit, and arven sighs. they're two titans in, and he owes isaiah an explanation. isaiah's a tough kid because of a tough life- one that arven can't imagine. at least, not in the same way. but, he knows the look of someone who has been through hell, because he sees that in himself. isaiah is just younger. isaiah is the same age as arven was when ...
❝ sometimes you just gotta fight for the things that matter most. i don't hate it if it's for the right reasons. ❞ but, it's more than that. he might as well tell the truth.
with a flash of light, mabosstiff appears from his pokeball, tired, but alive. arven takes comfort in the fact that his best friend is still breathing, but ... it didn't change the fact that it had been years of trial and error and failed treatments- ❝ i'm fighting to save mabosstiff here. because he saved me. i was your age when it happened... ❞
Tumblr media
❝ we were both lucky to make it out at all- and ever since then, i've been fighting for him. whatever it takes. pokemon centers haven't helped. actually, nothing has helped until ... well, he perked up a little after eating that first herba mystica... i'm hoping this one will help, too. ❞
maybe isaiah wants a different answer, so he goes on. ❝ i've gotten into my fair share of physical fights, though. and i get that it isn't healthy- director clavell has given me plenty of lectures about anger management. in a way, fighting's the only thing i know how to do in most situations. dunno if that's what you mean, though. ❞
