Man. At this point, I really just gotta log into my Tumblr account on Desktop since whenever I go on the Fazbear Frights Hashtag there, I just see that one person complaining...

I’ve been looking more and more into investing in a custom corset to see if it’ll help with my back pain. I had a custom leather one made years ago when I was going through my steampunk burlesque phase, as well as my wedding corset and a few other off the rack ones, but that was over a decade ago and my size has changed a lot since then. So I’m no stranger to the world of corsets. I’m just new to getting one made here in the US.

And twice now I’ve run into the same problem where I explain what I want (bust support with minimal compression of my lower abdomen due to medical issues) and I get told the same thing. “Oh, but that shape won’t slim your waist” and like… bestie, I don’t want to slim my waist down. I want support for my 34EE/F tits before my back breaks and a bra strap subluxates both my shoulders again.

I’m this close to taking a risk on a $300 purchase on an off-the-rack (heh) option if it’ll let me avoid human interaction 😖

i have a lot of gripes with the way mizora's sex scene (and honestly the relationship she has with wyll in general (thanks, christmas animation)) is handled, but its not necessarily a terrible addition to an rpg where you can do some bad shit (iirc you cant fuck mizora if you assaulted the grove tho, so mostly good pcs even get this option). what is terrible is the lack of gravity given to it, and the fact that you can only betray wyll in this way. if you could also fuck gortash or shar, and doing so had tangible consequences no matter what, id be much happier with it. as it stands, a player who is in good standing with wyll (or doesnt play with him anyway) and is romancing astarion, shadowheart, or even fucking karlach (why is this not a dealbreaker for her???) gets away with it. why is fucking the woman who owns an origin character's soul and calls him her pet and turned him into a devil and has condemned him to eternal torment not a big deal?

it would also sting less if (and i say this as a lesbian) wyll had a sex scene. wyll is the only romanceable character with no sex scene, and his abuser gets a long-ass full frontal cutscene. come on. do larians writers understand that abuse against men is always bad, or is it okay when the abuser is a sexy white (coded) woman? wylls selflessness to the extent of self-harm is a core part of his character, but its fucked up that everyone gets away with hurting him. he only leaves if you attack other people (the grove), but you can do whatever you want to him personally. you cant hurt mizora, even though shes hanging out in. your. camp. because who gives a shit? hurting a black guy is a victimless crime in this game

I’m rereading Shugo Chara (it’s been years and the nostalgia I feel is immense) and I’ve got to be honest…

I think Amu and Ikuto is the funniest ship in the whole world.

Like, they just like each other. They like spending time with each other. Amu is genuinely comfortable around him until he starts flirting, then she’s mostly just kind of exasperated. All of Ikuto’s interactions with her are based on cats. He brings her food (human can not hunt for themself) and he lays on her (human is the most comfortable pillow) and he teases her (human must be kept on their toes). Like, he’s just a big ol’ cat and I love it.

But also, the manga is fucking hilarious.

When Kukai is graduating and everyone’s saying goodbye and Tadase asks “When I’m in trouble, can I talk to this picture I have of you?” When they’re all talking about what happens around springtime and Ikuto casually says “Being in heat. Because we’re cats.” and Amu’s respons is “Can he say that in this manga?” And Sensei… “Why are you still teaching here?” “I do have credentials.”

Ikuto is the funniest character. He brings cookies because he broke Amu’s tart. He brings ice cream because Utau dropped Kukai’s ice cream (and maybe Amu’s? I’m unclear) ((how did he even know that that happened? Does he have a sixth sense, “Someone just ruined my human’s meal. I have to fix this immediately.”)) He always shows up with a bag of food and just drops it on Amu, then leaves. He came here for one reason and one reason only, and it was to drop off food, bye.

My favourite part of the manga is Nadeshiko/Nagihiko. I love Amu’s comment early on “Nadeshiko changes so fast!” I love Temari, who just repeats “my kimono will get dirty.” And when they’re crawling through the vent or whatever, and Temari is crawling while still covering her face with her sleeve and says “my kimono is getting dirty.” Hilarious. I love Temari so much.

I love that Nadeshiko is Amu’s best friend. They are besties. The extra where Nagihiko breaks out of his house to spend time with Amu? Perfection. Nagihiko holding Amu’s hand, and when she points it out to him, he just goes “Oh yeah. I forgot I’m different today.” I love Nagihiko, he’s the best. The whole explanation is totally wild and honestly baffling, but I love Nagihiko and his weird ass family all the same.

I liked the show a lot as a kid, and I liked the manga even more. I think Amu and Ikuto are adorable. I think it’s funny that the characters don’t act like any elementary school students I’ve ever met (including the ones who were in elementary school with me). I like that Kukai is everyone’s favourite, and he’s just so chipper. I like Tadase’s wish being to conquer the world, and everyone agreeing to help him with it because “It’s fun :)” I especially like that Amu is consistently and constantly judging the capes.

Maybe it’s nostalgia colouring my view. Maybe I’m biased because it made me laugh a couple times. Maybe I just like Ikuto and Amu being comedic foils to each other. Whatever it may be, I really enjoy the manga. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I recommend it if you’re going to be pissed by the age gap? No.

(“The age gap is so problematic!” But have you considered that they are funny?)

I'm a Kai Winn apologist but not because I think she's a good person. She's a compelling tragic character

#Winn is a pawn of the prophets #they purposefully did not talk to her #even quark has an orb experience #but the Kai doesn't get one word #she is holding onto her faith by a string and the wormhole aliens put her in that position for their own gain #the prophets are like lol snip snip bitch #they put her through hell because they needed her to bring the reckoning with the pah wraiths #she's ambitious and calculating yeah but she also lived through the worst of the occupation #plenty of people come out of trauma with negative attributes #it doesn't excuse her behavior but maybe it explains some of it #she really does just want what's best for Bajor #through the worst of it she still believes #the prophets are more ambitious cold and calculating than Kai Winn is #her crisis of faith happens because she finally gets word from her gods that she has been loyal to all this time #and it ends up being the pah wraiths and she still struggles to turn to their side #she was written as a grating character and they write her so well #star trek deep space nine #before ds9 goes off my radar for 3 months #Kai Winn #meta #I could have written that as a cohesive post and not a tag essay...

Goddammit! I finally watched the Loki Season 2 trailer, and despite the fact that I lived through every minute of the Season 1 hype and ultimately disappointment at the change in his character, which came across very differently in the trailers compared to the show itself, this trailer still manages to resemble the Loki I prefer just enough to capture my attention.

Argh!

*cries in frustration* At least there will be good gifs. I wish he'll come across as focused and intense as he appears in the trailer. There's plenty of reason for him to be since he seems to be deeply invested in averting something horrible. But if it's like season 1 he'll be two thirds silly and incompetent and one third skilled and on task. Ugh. Sads. Clearly my preferred Loki is one who is driven to solve a difficult problem and take down an impossible enemy. Sigh.

You know I said this on Twitter, but I think it bares repeating.

I think a lot of the arguments of the Sonic IDW comics lose nuance and frankly this recent debate about "there being too many OCs" is no different.

I don’t mind them adding OCs or even giving them some story focus, it’s just how they’re doing it that kinda bugs me. The great thing about Sonic being a static character is it more so focuses on how he influences others, (i.e. Tails, Amy, Blaze, Merlina, Chip, the list goes on) yet here it really feels like Sonic doesn’t matter. You could replace him with just about anyone and the OC’s journey wouldn’t change.

He’s essentially a background character in his own comic that features arcs revolving around the OCs rather than just including them. Surge is the obvious and most recent example. It is not every arc or issue, there are of course game character-centric storylines, although these OC driven ones have been cropping up more and more recently as they continuously expand the cast. There's a lack of balance between new and long-time characters.

These OCs are starting to feel like writer’s pets with how much they’re overshadowing the game cast rather than building from them, thus missing what makes a new Sonic character compelling. It’s not being Sonic’s new friend/rival that’s interesting; it’s seeing how he inspires them.

Many of these OCs that seemingly interact with Sonic and co. frequently don't appear to have that strong of a connection to them. Add that with their growing amount of story focus to establish the new characters, then yes, I agree there are too many OCs in the IDW comics.

There's also some arguments about how it's demeaning to call the characters introduced in IDW, OCs. OC stands for "original character" and these characters are original to the comics. OC is the proper term for them. It's only the stigma many people harbor towards specifically fan OCs that makes some perceive it as a negative term.

TL;DR: The conversation about the focus on OCs in the comics is missing the point when the issue more so lies with how they're being used and introduced. It rarely circles back around to the game cast, who the book is supposed to be about, leaving them with minimal ties to the series they supposedly belong to. Also OC is not an offensive term.
