Taylor Swift Will Be ‘Duly Honored’ With A Projection On Brazil’s Christ The Redeemer Statue

John Lennon once claimed that The Beatles are bigger than Jesus. But not only is Taylor Swift bigger than The Beatles (for this week, at least), Jesus will be dressed up like the pop star.

The famous Christ The Redeemer statue in Brazil, where Swift is bringing The Eras Tour for three shows this weekend, will “honor” the pop star following a fan-led campaign. “We will have Taylor Swift duly honored, her arrival in Rio. Welcome, Taylor Swift. And may you be happy, with the Swifties,” Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes said, according to a translated article from G1.

The news was confirmed by the Sanctuary of Christ The Redeemer, which came together with Rio de Janeiro city hall and Swift’s label for “a campaign to collect food and water,” adding, “Details will still be released this Thursday.” It’s unclear if the “Junior Jewels” shirt from the “You Belong With Me” music video will be projected on the statue, as Swifties are hoping for, or maybe something more obscure, like a “Bleachella” makeover.

Parla Max.On: ecco "L'Etoile", singolo con Kam La Frap (Pop Label Records / Jaywork Music Group)

Abbiamo fatto due chiacchiere con Max.On, ovvero il dj producer Brunori Marco, che ha creato con Kam La Frap un nuovo brano, "L'Etoile". E' una canzone piena di ritmo, melodia ed energia. E' pubblicato da Pop Label Records, una delle etichette dell'universo musicale Jaywork Music Group. 

"Il brano è nato in una sera a primavera", racconta Max.On. "Io ed cantautore italo africano Kam La Frap ci siamo conosciuti un po' casualmente grazie a Tik Tok ed al comune amore per la musica. Tra una battuta ed una risata, ci siamo raccontati i nostri progetti che avevamo in cantiere. Era tra l'altro da poco era uscita la mia "Without you", cantata da Junior Paes, che mi stava dando parecchie soddisfazioni. E' stata infatti spesso suonata dalle radio ed è stata pure  inserita nella compilation Hit Mania Dance Estate...". 

La voglia di Brunori Marco aka Max.On di collaborare con Kam la Frap, ovvero Aristide Marc Koffi, artista  originario della Costa d'Avorio è stata troppo forte... perché Kam la Frap aveva tra le mani una canzone decisamente piena di ritmo e melodia. "Avendo due stili completamente diversi, abbiamo deciso di realizzare ognuno la sua versione", spiega Max.On

"L'Etoile" è un brano che mette insieme sonorità e ritmi molto diversi tra loro, in modo sorprendente...

Ho logicamente lasciato che l'artista Kam La frap  realizzasse il brano nel suo stile , con il suo beat. Mi sono poi fatto mandare il canto, ed ecco la mia versione, completamente diversa. Ho abbassato il canto di tonalità, ho 'velocizzato' e creato la mia versione dance.

C'è una parte vocale molto curata, ma è anche un pezzo che fa decisamente ballare...

La parte vocale di Kam è davvero fatta molto bene. E' francese di madre lingua e sa davvero cantare molto bene, oltre che scrivere tutti i suoi testi. Amo mischiare stili musicali completamente diversi tra loro, per cercare di creare sempre qualcosa di nuovo. 

Quali sono secondo te le tendenze musicali nell'estate 2023?

Funzionano la trap italiana, il reggaton ed il pop. Sono i giusti stili per passare vacanze in allegria e spensieratezza. E naturalmente in compagnia di musica allegra, ritmata. 

Cos'è per te la musica in questo momento della tua vita?

E' sempre la medicina giusta per andare avanti e liberarsi dallo stress quotidiano . 

La musica registrata sembra valere sempre meno, mentre i concerti sono in boom... Oppure no?

Sono cambiate le modalità di guadagno per gli artisti. Non essendoci più i supporti fisici (cd, vinili per tutti e non solo per i dj, etc), per vivere di musica bisogna fare grandi numeri di ascolti, mentre chi fa concerti ha sicuramente molte piu entrate economiche.

C'è spazio lavorativo per chi vuole occuparsi di musica come produttore, artista o dj?

C'e' spazio per tutti, chiunque fa musica, con la tecnologia che abbiamo oggi può provarci. Ma solo chi è bravo, ha stile, inventiva (e fortuna!), si distinguerà dalla massa.

Che consigli daresti ad un giovane producer / dj che sogna di vivere di musica dance?

Di provarci, naturalmente di non lasciare né studi e né lavoro, i sogni vanno inseguiti e realizzati.

Disgusted by racism targeting Vinicius Junior, his Brazilian hometown rallies to defend him

Black Real Madrid star has been subjected to racist taunts in Spanish league

The chants of "monkey!" at the Spanish soccer stadium echoed across the Atlantic, reaching the ears of people on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.

That's where Vinicius Junior, who is Black, grew up and launched his soccer career. Now, despite his global fame and millions, he was again the target of crude European racism.

His city in multiracial Brazil was sickened, and has rallied to his defence.

Rio's imposing, illuminated Christ the Redeemer statue was made dark one night in solidarity. The city's enormous bayside Ferris wheel this week exhibits a clenched Black fist and the scrolling words: "EVERYONE AGAINST RACISM."

"My total repudiation of the episode of racism suffered by our ace and the pride of all of us in Sao Goncalo," the city's mayor, Nelson Ruas dos Santos, wrote on Twitter the morning after the incident.

Rio's Mayor Eduardo Paes was less diplomatic when responding to a defence issued by the Spanish soccer league's president.

"Go to hell, son of a..." Paes wrote.
