Unhhhgggg
I’m finally done with what I tought would be a small and easy project.
I wanted to do the architectural plans of the Gale Farmhouse from The Wizard Of Oz 1939 movie.
I based my drawings on the movie shots of the house and the various set pictures there is on the internet of this particular set.
There was a copy of the original 1939 plans for the wrecked house in munchkinland along with a lot of measurements on it. It helped me to scale everything.
This house if quite tiny. There is no bathroom, this means that there would have been an outhouse somewhere on the farm. This checks out because a lot of farmhouses didn’t have running water in the Great Depression, so FDR instated a program to build outhouses for a lot of farms for 25$ i think.
Anyways, took me a lot of time, too much time in my opinion, but it’s done.
Enjoy

At least the fridge is happy to be here.
Tumblr media
I'm currently looking for a new home in the Kansas City area, but after seeing this 3-bed, 2-bath charmer I think I might need to consider moving to another state. Or country.
Tumblr media
Arr, walk the plank(s), mateys.
What looked like a concrete walkway in the first picture turns out to be a series of planks leading to the unpaved driveway, behind which is…another house?
Tumblr media
And behind this house is yet another house. Actually, a shed. But when you really think about it...isn't a shed just a house for all of your neighborhood's spiders?
In case you'd rather not think about that, here's an interior picture.
Tumblr media
The small, evil Luck Dragon(s?) do not convey. Fortunately.
A small studio apartment with a weird sink in its tiny kitchen? A wet bar repurposed as a bedroom? Only the Chungus chrysalis hanging from the ceiling knows for sure, and it's not telling.
Tumblr media
A bit of creative camerawork is all it takes to make it look like your toilet is about to make the jump to hyperspace.
Go ahead, tell all your friends that your shower's haunted by a penguin ghost and its anime collection. Who'll believe you?
Tumblr media
And here we have the main house. I can't make out what's written on the sign, but I'm pretty sure it's not bless this mess.
Tumblr media
Give your home that chic "outdoors but also inside an office building" look with siding and drop ceilings! Mysterious ghost shadow optional; soul-draining fluorescent tubes not included.
Tumblr media
When you're the owner of small, evil dogs, some sacrifices have to be made. Human sacrifices, of course, but also little things. Like turning all of your cables and power strips into wall décor to prevent dogs from gnawing on the cables and setting your house on fire.
Tumblr media
Aloe vera and ceiling mold may not be as exciting as a penguin ghost, but this bathroom does feature a reflection just different enough that I can't be sure that there aren't actually two toilets in the room. Or that it's actually a window and there's another bathroom next to this bathroom.
Tumblr media
Don't worry; this particular species of floor-consuming space mold only spreads a few millimeters a year. Shift the dresser over a bit from time to time and it'll be fine. Just don't, you know, lick the floor or anything.
And finally...
Tumblr media
The eerie grin and unblinking eyes were bad enough, but then I began to ask myself why this house needs this absolute unit of a fridge, and...well, I can't help but think that this fridge's soul patch may be made of actual souls.
All this for $115,000. Any takers?

Superbowl LVII is upon us!
The first thing I think of when I hear “football” is either the spanish people going in my head “football is soccer, your football americano has not enough kicking!” or “man, that weird Jordan Zumwalt kid I went to high school and middle school with actually made it into the NFL”. Most girls do not like football, but the best girls will watch a game with some understanding!
Tumblr media
But, football games happen in the first half of any year and the last half, and on multiple levels like college and NFL. The game most people watch, even if they watch no other game...is Superbowl! Superbowl is the top tier winners of the season duking it out for the title of Superbowl Champion!
What does it mean to me? Usually a potluck style family party with customized shirts from my grandma, and betting squares! (Usually in the theme of wherever Superbowl is being held). This year, my great aunt is not hosting her party-so we downsize and have the party elsewhere. Growing up, I would root for the family team-whether it was my stepfathers team of The Cowboys or my adopted fathers team, The Packers!
2023: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles
Halftime: Rihanna
The last time The Chiefs won the Superbowl was 2020, not that long ago! I imagine if they had a good enough season to get there, they are going to be happy to be back. The Eagles last won in 2018, so longer and I imagine this makes them hungrier for it. Either way, I hope for a good game, better commercials, and that Rihanna doesn’t mess up half time. Really, there hasn’t been a good halftime show since Shakira. The commercials are really expensive to nab and make, and usually are a good time-those have gotten less good over the years. Budweiser usually has a good time commercial with the clydesdales. Dorritos I think too.
Catch it if you can at your local bar, family house with cable, or keep an eye on it on Google. If you are a cord cutter like me, there are ways to watch it on streaming TV apps. Game starts in the afternoon, and more interesting than the game is what the game ends/begins. It has often been said the real estate season starts after superbowl, tax season, and what not! When football ends, baseball starts, and the world keeps turning! Be safe, have fun, and bet smartly!

What a housing market correction could mean
With the Federal Reserve's attempt to contain inflation by increasing interest rates, it appears that the U.S. housing market might be headed towards a correction after more than two years of substantial price appreciation. Following the central bank's effort, mortgage rates have notably increased and contract offers on homes plummeted in September. These changes were highlighted by a record-setting price growth dip of 2.6%. An adjustment in prices has enabled buyers to spend more time purchasing a house, thus having fewer competitors for homes. However, specialists claim that the recent decreases might not be sufficient enough to inverse high interest rates paired with record-breaking price surges during the pandemic. Experts from The Hill claim that national housing market corrections are a rare phenomenon and although there is no clear-cut definition, it occurs when changing conditions lead to house prices decreasing. “We are seeing that now as home values at the national level have fallen a bit from their June peak, part of a rebalancing of the housing market as prospective buyers are pulling back because of soaring costs and sellers are reacting by lowering their list price or accepting a lower offer on their home,” Zillow senior economist Jeff Tucker told The Hill in an email. “But home values are nowhere near a 10% decline from peak levels nationally,” Tucker said, noting that a correction in the stock market refers to a decline of 10 percent or more from peak levels. Home prices dropped by 0.4 percent in September to an average of $358,283 according to Zillow data - a decrease from June's record high of $359,719. In an email to The Hill, Yelena Maleyev from KPMG Economics explained that the recent price drops can be put into context when considering the uncommonly rapid rate of growth over the past two years. “Due to pandemic-related distortions, home prices grew at a historically fast pace over the last few years. This has led to many markets around the country to be considered overvalued,” Maleyev said. “According to Moody’s research, over half of the country’s housing markets are overvalued as of the middle of this year. This leaves a lot of room for those markets specifically to see their home prices come back down to Earth,” she added. Many cities that saw an influx of remote workers and a boost in prices during the pandemic are now seeing those same costs reduce. This is especially true for areas with more affordable living expenses, as these were often sought after by people looking to work remotely.

KC real estate program looking to help women of color
There are new development and renovation projects happening all over the Kansas City Metro, but when certain communities are left out of the planning process, they often don’t benefit from that work. That’s why we’re committed to working with all kinds of communities in our planning processes – so that everyone can share in the benefits of a thriving city. The Urban Land Institute (ULI Kansas City) designed the 15-week Real Estate Diversity Iniative (REDi) to teach underrepresented groups what it takes to get a construction project planned and off the ground. “A lot of the development that’s going in our community is your smaller, mom-and-pop stores,” said ULI Kansas City Programs Manager Shawnna Murrell. According to Murrell, people in a community can take on bigger projects than they think if they begin with smaller goals within their own community. Alecia Kates was fortunate enough to be placed in the 2022 cohort because she chose to search for a home in the Leeds-Dunbar Neighborhood. “In the process of trying to find a vacant property there, I had the opportunity to get multiple ones,” said Kates. She wants to construct several homes for families of all varieties to live in, complete with leisure areas and outdoor access, but she doesn't know where or how to start. “You don’t know what you don’t know and so this totally opened the door,” said Kates. For the past two months, the group has been studying and creating plans for Juniper Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas. Juniper Gardens is a public housing development that has been slowly shutting down. The 30-acre site has immense potential, giving people like Kates and Asa Barnes the opportunity to imagine what could be built there. “When there’s good development in the community, people want to stay there and they also want to improve and take care of what they have,” said Barnes. “If we live in these communities, and they look like us, we should be able to govern, and we should be able to develop and build them according to what we need.” “It’s empowering because being a woman of color, a black woman, being able to be a leader and not necessarily tag along and support, it me gives the power to make decisions along with the neighborhood versus waiting on someone to have pity,” said Kates. “It’s like, ‘No we’re going to do it and make decisions.” The plans that the REDi program creates are not only for their own benefit, but they will also be presented to a panel of judges in December. This presentation has the potential to shape Juniper Gardens' future.
