CELEBRITY & FAME.

I was just talking recently about this with someone (and I've mentioned it previously here,) but one theme that I would like to 'anchor' this blog to is: navigating modern fame and stardom.

In my mind since forever, Gym Leaders are considered celebrities, and champions are on the level of mega-celebrities, frequently recognized worldwide, tasked with doing appearances and PR and various meetings along with their other responsibilities/hobbies. Cynthia, of course, is no exception to this rule, and--in my mind--she's one of the more 'public-facing' champions, frequently traveling to other regions. She'll likely get recognized wherever she goes, and she'll always be busy with something. And yet--she's been in the fame game for a while now, and knows how to handle herself with confidence and grace in nearly every situation. What this means:

In nearly all of her interactions, Cynthia will be aware of her schedule/surroundings and likely will not dawdle in one place for too long as a result. She's kind, curious, and loves to wander--but (thanks to her commitment to Sinnoh and her super-vigilant PA) can also be firm and efficient when it's time to get things done.

If you interact with Cynthia in public, you will have to deal with potential paparazzi, business pitchers, and/or fans. She will also be extra-mindful of what she says or does in those more-visible moments.

Because she's so used to being under scrutiny, Cynthia only truly lets her guard down around a select group of trusted people.

Drawing/exploring parallels between Pokemon and real-world celebrity treatment is super fun and interesting for me. So I'm going to keep doing it here!

I had to research a lot to find the flower that would match them, but I liked the result!

For this specific post, I decided to write a summary of their story (I decided to hide some details since I don't think it's good to put everything in this post)

I was lazy too

Diaval

Dandelion

Diaval was young when his father abandoned him, which forced him to live alone and without love for a long time

When he met Malleus, Diaval felt he found the light at the end of the tunnel and after a long time, he finally felt truly loved

However, the joy he felt with his best friend soon turned into a dependence on Malleus' attention and affection, frightened by the thought of being abandoned by his only friend (Their relationship became less intimate after Diaval began to act more respectfully and less friendly towards Malleus).

When he enrolled in NRC, Diaval went through teenage experiences he never had before and made new friends. With the support of his friends he started to look for things he likes, think about what he wants and understood that Malleus doesn't want a servant, but a friend

His experience at NRC made him seek his freedom and his love of maps encouraged him to pursue the goal of traveling the world.

The reason I chose Dandelion for Diaval is because it represents freedom, hope, healing/transformation and resilience

Just like the dandelion, he wants to be carried by the wind, he wants to know the world and achieve his freedom, go through transformations, understand his surroundings

His change of thoughts/healing from his emotional dependence and his resilience in adapting to the NRC also match well with the symbolism of the dandelion

In general, the dandelion is a simple flower and I think it represents his wishes well. Since he didn't had a normal childhood, apart from his wish to travel the world Diaval often wants simple experiences and desires

Mira

Lavender

Lavenders are known to be flowers with a very pleasant smell and useful for many things, being suitable for cooking, medicines and even ancient Egyptian rituals. Despite all its qualities, strangely lavenders have a negative symbolism—Distrust

The reason for this symbolism comes from the fact that a certain species of snakes usually hide in lavenders

Mira was born after Meleanor's death, more specifically he is the remains of her phantom and later several phantoms united. For reasons I won't say (yet), he was presented with a peaceful conscience.

Lavenders also mean innocence, which represents the initial stage of Mira's life: just like a small child, he didn't understand how the world worked and was curious to discover. His new conscience made him forget the memories/behaviors of an ordinary phantom, which made him seek the feeling of love and affection.

Mira was full of qualities

However, thanks to his Phantom instincts and being the LITERALLY incarnation of a mage's greatest fears, no matter how hard he tried he always ended up being labeled as something solely negative and unreliable—Just like a lavender.

His innocence and lack of knowledge of feelings made him confused, he didn't understand why he was so hated. Despite all his good characteristics and his efforts to be nice, people only paid attention to the snake(The threat he could bring by being a monster)

#just specifying that Mira is not a UwU boy in the past #he did act violently when he was irritated #but he tried to avoid acting that way #PLEASE DON'T GET IT WRONG Malleus didn't manipulate Diaval in any way #In fact #he was worried about the path Diaval was taking and greatly missed their relationship. #they are good now:) #mira magica #diaval corvo

19. What would they do if stuck in a room with the person they’ve been avoiding?

First, probably try to go through all possible ways to get out. If that fails, he probably writes something on a piece of paper and slips it under the door. After that he just kinda keeps to the corner of the room and tries to keep himself business and not acknowledge the other person. If they do speak to him, he'll be standoffish at first but eventually respond, though he is curt and to the point.

Thank you very much for your kind opinion. It means a lot that my spite fic is enjoyed by at least a few people.

As for what universe it takes place in that's difficult to place. It IS an AU. It is HEAVILY based on canon 1990s comic canon but with differences both major and minor.

The MAJOR differences so far are as follows;

There is no Dubbilex in this au. I couldn’t make him fit for this particular story. Maybe next time.

Bart is in high-school when he first shows up, not junior high. I know there are junior high schools that go for 3 years instead of 2 years in America, which may start at 6th grade or 7th grade extending to as far as 9th grade, but for plotting and timeline purposes I had to make him a Freshman. There will be a huge timeskip soon that will make this make sense.

Lex Luthor is a member of The Justice League as a subterfuge agent, his history is heavily inspired by Smallville bc it's my fic and my AU.

Rex Leech is more leechy.
